I purchased a home where the selling agent was John Potter at Mayo Realty about 2 years ago. The agent attempted to cover up some major problems with the property, and when I tried to get him to do something about it, he initially refused to even speak with me. He finally, after some persuasion from my realtor, consulted with the owner and did pay for some mitigation of the problem. However, there was another issue concerning a gas fireplace which did not work. When I asked Mr. Potter about this, he said it just needed to be switched on. Several handymen tried to switch it on, but it did not work. Finally, a friend looked at the unit and found that the element needed to be replaced. It was old and rusty and obviously had not been working for a long time. The cost to repair this was $100. I asked Mr. Potter to contact the homeowner to cover this cost and he has refused to even reply to my message. The most troubling thing about this is that in the listing for the house, he advertised that the buyer could enjoy the heatilator fireplace with free gas. I was not able to enjoy the fireplace at all for 2 years! I would never recommend this agent or this company!
