The staff is super friendly, the place is very clean, AC works perfectly, equipment is awesome and in very good condition and a nice group of people use the gym. Love it!

Mark Miquel is the best Personal Trainer Ive ever had and probably one of the very best in the biz. He held me accountable while being flexible and ultimately helped me exceed my goals. I cant recommend Mark at Retro Fitness in Bethlehem enough.

Be careful. Yes their monthly memberships are cheap, but they’ll make sure to get you with a bunch of hidden fees. The staff is super unhelpful and clearly focuses on upselling members rather than helping them. It cost me $100 to cancel my membership.

Best gym! Great staff at the front! Always friendly, cleaning, and making sure weights are put back. I never see them not doing something to make Retro better. I always feel comfortable to get my workout in. Thank you for what you guys are doing to keep us safe and make Retro the best! Lots of variety in machines and weights. Clean, nice equipment. Plenty of space, weights and cardio machines. Covid compliant and the price is right. There are plenty of Retros around and I can use any of them with 1 membership.

Clean with a good variety of machines as well as free weights. Usually relatively quiet in the mornings when I go. I like that. I belonged to another club before and it was really a social club. I prefer to just go in, workout, and then leave. Thats the objective for me and it serves me well.

Started as dream gym and has turned into a nightmare. I have been a loyal member for 2 years. I fell in love with the free classes and the instructors. Over time though the cleanliness of the gym has been inconsistent. Mirrors have sweat dripping and the floor is covered in hair/dirt. Once I was doing ab work in class and an unknown individual’s hair tumbleweed entered my mouth. For months I have begged the staff to keep the fitness room properly cleaned. They have started to offer new and improved classes, but charge members extra for some classes and not others. I feel this act was a bait and switch because the once free class now costs an additional fee. When I talked to the manager about this I was told it was part of “team training”, but this “program” does not exist. Thus I have to pay extra for something that is clearly a class that was once free. This new class also has an instructor bringing his own equipment and the fee does not go directly to the instructor. The price gouging to the loyal members is unfortunate. I love my instructors, but I am out of love for the management of this gym. The treadmills have also seen better days. Highly considering a new gym that stays consistently fair and does not change their “tune” years into membership.

Nice selection of equipment, staff are nice n trainers are varied in different skill sets. I have spinal nerve issues with pain n my trainer helps me exercise within my limits. I’ve also improved my range of motion in my neck n arms. I’ve been a member for almost 2 years now.

Im writing this review because I am not happy with how my membership has been handled and how there is a double standard that exists with gym health and safety amidst the coronavirus pandemic. I first want to preface my review by saying that I contacted Retro Bethlehem back in July 2020 to discuss my membership and it was extremely frustrating to get in contact with a manager to do so. At first I was told to visit the gym as it couldnt be discussed via phone. Then when I visited I was told to contact a manager... I was given a managers phone number, but was told I would be called back on multiple occasions, which didnt happen. I had to keep calling. When I finally did speak with someone, I wasnt pleased with the discussion that ensued so Im revisiting my frustration here. As a side note, I thought the Retro representative handled it unprofessionally. Perhaps its difficult to establish credibility when you work for a gym and youre not willing to listen to a members pandemic-related health and financial concerns.I signed up for Retro Fitness Bethlehem in Nov 2019 and was explained that I need to keep my membership for one year before canceling at no cost. Low and behold, a pandemic hits. While Retro can send out emails saying they have our members backs, and that exercise helps our immune systems (which is true), the reality is, exercise and immune boosting activities can be carried out in a non-gym facility, and Retro needs to have their own backs to stay in business. Im not a germaphobe, but visiting facilities most definitely increases the likelihood of contracting the coronavirus, and thus, compromising your health. For this reason I do not wish to visit the gym and unfortunately I do not see the state of this health crisis improving any time in the near future. While allowing accounts to be frozen, Im not pleased that Retro Fitness has chosen to essentially hold my membership money indefinitely until I decide to forfeit it or start return to the facility, which again, will not happen for a long time. To add another annoyance to the situation, when I signed up in November I was accidentally charged for 6 months of membership at one time. Not a big deal to me at the time, as Retro wouldnt resume charging me until the 7th month. Unfortunately we didnt make it 6 months before the pandemic hit us so I still have unused months of facility usage remaining that I already paid for.The member agreement or Health Club Act has no clause surrounding a definition of an epidemic, pandemic, or public health crisis. Despite what I was told on the phone, I think I should be entitled to a no-obligation cancellation given the current situation. I have 8 months of membership being withheld that I do not wish to utilize given valid health concerns. I realize I was pretty unlucky with the timing of my enrollment, but I refuse to let a business tell me Im unlucky and pay a penalty for a life-changing pandemic that is totally out of my control. If a gym like Retro Bethlehem wants to have my back in health, I hope they can see this through and honor my request.

I have been a member there for a few months now. Joined just to get in better shape and overall health. Great variety of machines and weights. Very clean and well maintained. Only recommendation is maybe somehow moving the heavy bag to a more open space. It tends at times to get a bit crowded in that area. However, plenty of other cardio things to do. Being New to working out, any questions I had for tips on exercise the trainers there are more than happy answer them and to show me.

So far a clean gym and equipment is new. Classes are fun and I love instuctors of body pump!! Parking always available. Still have to request during the hot summer to regulate the temperature in class before the start of the class. Friendly stuff. But I love this gym and I hope it stays clean, to me it is important 😍

Apart from the one personal trainer who has a creepy obsession with me, its a decent gym. Its small and has a Ronald McDonald color scheme, but the equipment is well maintained, and the members are good people.Only complaint I consistently hear is about old naked guys stepping out of the shower6/10 would recommend

I am member of this gym fromlast 1 year and i have tried all neighbouring gyms( planet and Maxx) and this is by far the best gym out of all 3. The key points are amount of equipment and cleanliness!

Do no give this Retro the ability to bill you!!! They charged my daughter a YEAR after she CANCELED her membership!!! They told her they would correct the billing but she is now getting collections calling her! She hasnt stepped foot in the building for over a year! She called today to speak to them about it again but was told management is only there between 12:00 and 1:00...and she called at 1:03! Talk about poor customer service!10/12/18 So she is still trying to resolve this. Did everything she was told to do to find out that she was sent to collections. ...and again she has not been there for over a YEAR! Was told this would be taken care of numerous times and still has not been. Called today at 3:20 to speak to someone and of course management will not be in till Monday. She also called the number the owner said to call and they said there was nothing they could do. This is the WORST customer service ever!! Nobody cares! This should have been taken care of right away!

This is the best gym Ive ever had the pleasure to enroll at. They treat everyone one with the same intensity, no matter how seasoned one is. The staff are beyond helpful, and the management has by far exceeded my expectations.

I wrote a glowing review and it did not post. This place is great from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. They welcome you individually and ask you how your workout went when you leave. They have a great mix of equipment. Free weights with barbells and dumbbells. Racks and benches for both.Excellent choice of machines and cardio for those who prefer that. Very friendly staff and members. Everyone willing to give advice. I always look forward to my workouts.

If I can put negative stars I would. This place is a scam. Do not go in here. I have spoken to Luis about a situation that has been going on. My account was being charged for personal training that I was not taking. The first time I called I spoke to Luis he said he would put my account on hold until I my self schedule the training. A month later I start getting charged again and again, I proceeded to call Luis again and he told me he will handle it I even said hey just keep those for when I am available. Now again I get charged I walk in to retro Luis looks me strait in my face and tells me that he will refund everything but that it will be refunded all in individual payments. I took his word again. Now I get charged a second (ANNUAL FEE) I proceed and call retro Luis was not there I left a message, he never got back to me I call again and he picks up the phone and he’s more interested in the opinion of everyone else talking about him. This place is a scam he told me multiple times he would take care of my account/membership and refund my account.I am tired of being scammed. DO NOT GO HERE !!

Nice clean gym. Not the biggest but definitely a good size. Staff is very nice and helpful. I just dont like being charged late fees and Im not on a contract, its should be pay as you go after you fulfilled your contract agreement.Other than that this is a good gym.

I signed up for this gym in April of 2016. For the first year, I enjoyed going to this gym. The environment was decent and the people were nice. I noticed a shift in energy in the beginning of 2018. In the spring of 2018, I suffered an injury while working out. The gym did not have ice packs! They handed me a plastic glove filled with ice that is used for smoothies. After the staff was aware of the injury, the trainers just watched me struggle to get out to my vehicle. I had my account on hold due to my injury. When I needed to go back for physical therapy reasons, I requested to have my account reactivated. After this, I was questioned almost every night for almost two weeks about my account being suspended because they failed to correct it. THEN, in August, I decided to cancel my membership. I was with my friend on the same night and neither of us were informed of any buy out costs or locked in contract. We just signed a form and told we would be charged for one more month (September). It is now the end of November and I have been charged again. I was told that my membership was just never cancelled and will be processed?! I highly suggest going elsewhere.

Love it, friendly staff. The only gym by me that has child care. All 3 kids enjoy and want me to go to the gym more just so they can play there.

Beautiful Sunday with my children and I get a phone call from Retro saying that I owe them money or they’re bringing me to collections. Mind you, this is from 2017. I’ve been there on a guest pass 10 times afterwards and nobody said anything to me. The problem is too many gyms are in that area and they’re trying to maximize profits by going down a list and threatening people. Well retro, you called the wrong guy, I’ve never owed anyone money in my life. What really grinds my gears is the manager would get his haircut at my shop 30ft away the entire year of 2017-2018.

The equipment is up to date and maintenance is done routinely. Unfortunately most of the staff arent very friendly or knowledgeable. I saw a trainer on duty spotting someone benching 225 (who should have been pushing that much) with one hand on the bar but looking at his phone in the other hand. That was my final day at the gym. I canceled my membership.

I have been training here since they opened. I really enjoy the spacious layout. So much better than Eastons congested layout. Even at peak hours the gym never seems over crowded. The equipment is well maintained and new pieces are added frequently. Their is always a cleaning person on duty and it shows. Very clean in the workout area as well as the locker room. I often enjoy a post workout shake at the bar to put the cherry on the top of my workout. Staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Im very pleased to call this gym my home.

The equipment at the gym is great! A good place to work out! However the showers are poorly maintained. I dont think they have ever been cleaned in the three weeks I been coming there.

Great gym!! I love going there and the staff is all very friendly. I dont understand what everyone complains about as far as the fees. There is an annual fee at ANY gym you join. I was at Planet Fitness and Maxx before I found Retro and I was charged fees at those places too. I have been at Retro for almost 3 years now and I love it! The classes are amazing!

I worked out at Retro Fitness for a year, and then I decided to cancel my membership because I hadnt been going. They said that I could freeze my account and there would be no fees or charges, and that it would be the same thing as cancelling but I could rejoin at any point with no additional fees. I went for this option, but then received a $40 charge to my credit card. This was about a year after I had thought I had canceled my membership, and there was no notification from the gym about the charge. I called them to contest the charge and they would not reimburse the fee. From what I have read from other reviews, I am not the first person to have been misled and charged additional fees by the gym without any apparent reason. There are plenty of better gym options in the same area.

Great gym, great equipment, and very clean! The bathrooms and changing rooms are nice too. The people arent annoying who workout there and plenty of man candy to ogle. Also cool is that they have WiFi, and they have a full line of protein powder shakes they will custom blend for you, very cool! But even better than that is they have healthy PRE-MADE food. You cant beat this place. And at low affordable rates, youd actually be dumb for going to any other gym. For real, for real. Check it out. Oh and thats another thing, its like 5 bucks to try it for a day. Actually no wait Its free the first day and 5 per person after that I think. Anyway check it out. More value on your dollar here than anywhere else.

When I travel, Im usually pretty particular on equipment and primarily use hammer strength and life fitness. The plate loaded startrac equipment here is amazing and theres tons of it. My wife and I have been coming back here for 3 years now. Everytime we visit Bethlehem we have to hit Retro!

When managed well this is a great gym that from the start was known for friendly welcoming staff and clean well kept state of the art facilities that are very well kept and regularly updated. I referred many friends to this gym and I am hoping to return at some point in the future. It seems a lack of attention to customer service as of late changed the attitude towards customers. I already completed a year contract and was on a month to month basis when I wanted to leave I was told I still had to pay a months membership fee. That did it for me. To me it feels ridiculous that you are forced to pay for a product you dont want or get locked out from future participation, because the late fees and what not will keep mounting. I contacted corporate with no response of course. This kind of thing would have never happened in the past and it is unfortunate the direction it feels this place is going while holding great potential. 3 Stars for starting out as an excellent gym although I would no longer recommend it.

This place is awful, and clearly doesnt care about their patrons. I have tried to cancel my membership for 3 months after my friend fell off a piece of equipment and injured herself. At that time we were told the gym didnt have ice packs! And the trainers were too busy eating their protein to even bother to see if she was ok! They are lucky she didnt file against them! Dont go here and waste your money when there is a Maxx fitness and planet fitness within 2 miles

When going here I felt very creeped out. Men were checking me out inside the gym and outside the gym and I could tell were not making apportiate comments. When I go to the gym I don’t want to have to worry about feeling safe. At this gym I didnt feel safe.

They Try to deceive would be members on the fees for the gym to get you to sign up and meet a quota. The staff can be abrasive and allow there personal business romance and ego to interfere with customer service rather frequently. The management forgets to order supplies for shakes and does not thoroughly think through changes on the gym floor. They have access to your personal information via a computer system that can be accessed by any member and if you’re a female they have a bad history of using that info to harass you and the coaches are rather creepy.They get two stars because the equipment is well maintained and the other members seem to be very personable. Retro runs a very good franchise but this particular one is poorly run and is in desperate need of skilled and experienced management and professional staff. Many people are leaving.

Our initial experience was great and we were pleased with the quality of the equiptment but as our membership has continued things have just gotten worse, Classes are chaotic & often overbooked, billing errors are the norm, our cards were billed in error 4 times in 8 months! and management seems only concerned with selling new memberships & fitness shakes that arent healthy at all. We wont be renewing our memberships.

Stay away from this gym. If you have an issue good luck getting a call back from a manager. Their practices are not like any other in the area. DONT WASTE your time, you will be left with headache in the end. I have been to several gyms in the area and decided to try this because it was new. I am trapped in a contract for a year that I was not aware of. ALL the other gyms including the community center will offer you far more flexibility with less hidden fees.

First when u join retro they only try to make u join. But they hide the fact that u must be a member for a year and continue to pay 20$ until one year is over. You cant cancel the membership until after a year. Retro is a scammer. I just join last month and without mentioning anything about not being able to cancel membership until a year and now they wont let me cancel.

The staff of this gym makes me feel like the only thing that matter to them is money if Im past due that they know but when I have I question nobody knows the answer not even themanager . I have had different situations and nobody knows the answer is unbelievable how unimportant they make me feel.

Well. I see we are not alone. I had an account for myself and my two sons. Still getting charged for my one son, whose account we cancelled in November. It is now February. Still getting charged for the two remaining accounts we cancelled in mid-January. Called them, they said they would call back. Waiting. Contacted corporate. Oh, and when I went in to cancel my one sons account, they got snippy and said they need a reason. So I told them my son joined another gym. Then I signed the document. For my other son they said I could not sign the document and they fought me over it. Im the adult, my son is underaged. Its my debit card getting charged.

We called corporate on them because of their deceitful business practices, My fiance was aware when he signed the con tract that he had to pay 19.99 a month for a year and that there was a yearly fee of $50 something dollars, he was told he had to have a FREE session with a personal trainer so he went to that session and the personal Trainor was all into helping my fiance who has Crohns disease and a colostomy bag gain weight he offered his services but my fiance was not sure he wanted to pay the fee every month so Louis offered another free session but the personal Trainer sent home sick, never did they call to reschedule like my fiance was told, then my fiance starts getting charged for the personal trainer he never asked for Now they say my fiance signed papers to have a personal trainer, tell me how that is possible if he hasnt seen the personal trainer since that first visit! How did his signature get on a 2yr con tract for a personal trainer without my fiance knowledge! Crooks! Disgusting lying Crooks!

I signed up for a membership $20/ month deal after going to the 2 free trial days. I thought the gym may be a good fit for me and to get a personal trainer. I made 2 appointments with a personal trainer and both sessions were canceled by the gym and never once was contacted to reschedule.... The classes werent classified by levels so either you were an expert or you were lost simple. Ok fast forward to 10 months later. I havent stepped foot into the facility and have paid faithfully $20/month for a membership I do not use AT ALL. 7 months after signup I became pregnant and was told I had to bring a doctors note to cancel my membership. I had complications with the pregnancy which resulted in a loss. So naturally the last thing on my mind was going to cancel a membership that I do not use. Yesterday I received a call from the manager and I was basically told I have all of these late fees and I still owed them even though he can see in his logs I have never used the facility and they received at minimum 6 payments of free money. And this will go on my credit... Smh. This facility is a scam and now I see how they are able to offer unlimited use because people like me are forced to pay without use or even an offer of credit for future use of their services. Very very very unhappy with this facility and their practices

Started 2020 with broken equipment now it’s almost the end February 2020 equipment still broken.There is broken equipment that last for too many weeks on those conditions. Every time I get to the gym equipment still broken. Very disappointed with the response on fixing them. This gym must take serious acción in fixing the equipment as soon as it brakes down

Very bad Cancelation Policy.

I cancelled my membership the day after I made it because I was misinformed when I made it by a new hire, they failed to return me my money (as they’re supposed to if one cancels in the first 3 days) and have been billing me still! This has been since AUGUST, I have called numerous times, emailed the billing service called billing and customer service and still NO resolution. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I’m extremely displeased.

The worst administration ever like a couple of people in here already said they still charge me for the membership after cancelation and I talk with the manager and employees about it a couple times and still dont get my money back this is so bad they just stealing people over and over somebody have to do something about this for real

I specifically asked for a month to month membership, but for some reason was given a 1 year contract. Now they want the full year to get out of the contract! This is super frustrating! Cancelling a month-to-month agreement (like I requested) wouldnt be an issue, but I was TRICKED into the wrong contract!!
