Yes its like a patient-focused spa, modern techniques and every comfort, but the main reason I love this practice is the two women doctors and their excellent, personal standard of care. They combine technical excellence with heart and soul. Recommended to all my family and friends.

My favorite dentist! They make sure you are comfortable and well taken care of. Even the seat is plush. They give you blankets, color therapy glasses, music of your choice, mandala vision and even a foot massage! Very knowledgeable and thoughtful. Transcendentist goes above and beyond any experience I have had with Dentists in my entire life. I am 71 so have had a number of Dentists. They are very thorough in the initial exam. They have all the latest digital and green technologies. Its a beautiful setting with warm and caring staff. Dr. Praj Kamat was very wholistic in her approach to my teeth and my overall health. I actually went there to learn more about ozone treatment, as I had a great experience with a steam ozone spa. It turns out Im taking such good care of my teeth I didnt need that treatment. The teeth cleaning was very good, thorough and gentle. I went in fearing I might receive bad news since it had been a long time since I had X-rays. I was happily surprised that no work was necessary! I have been very grateful to Dr Praj for her consistently holistic approach to my dental care. Technically, she is an excellent dentist, working proactively and always at the cutting edge of her profession. I have never experienced any pain or discomfort in her hands or in those of her colleagues. The atmosphere is calm, warm and considerate, almost meditative, and Ive always felt well taken care off by everyone at the office.But even beyond technique, Dr Praj observations (always imparted gently) have helped me realize problems that extended beyond my mouth. For example, she once wondered what could be causing a reduction in the calcification of my teeth, leading me to discover (and remedy) a vitamin D deficiency. Another time, she asked me if I had had any injuries, noticing my tooth microfractures. This helped me realize I was neglecting to address issues of grief-induced stress. Other examples as well.Dr Prajs integrated approach extends to caring for the planet (her office was the first to be green certified in Berkeley), something I feel very strongly about. Even though I have moved to a different city, I am very glad to know her and will continue to be her client.

I love the Transcendentist. I have been going here for many years and it is absolutely my favorite dentist office. I was a patient when Fred Pockrass was the dentist and was hesitant a few years ago when the dentists changed but the care has not changed. I always feel well cared for and seen as an actual person. I went for the first time a couple of weeks ago since the pandemic and felt very safe. They seem to have a protocol that allows for optimum safety, including: being screened for symptoms, calling from outside when you arrive, being greeted with hand sanitizer, temperature taking, and a smile, full PPE, gargling with hydrogen peroxide, and the place is always immaculate. The office is all green and I trust them to not have toxins in the environment or to put them in my mouth. Communication is always warm, clear, and personable. I highly recommend them!

I delayed getting my teeth cleaned waiting for the Corona Virus to pass. After over a nine month wait my teeth and gums were screaming for a cleaning and in the interim I lost part of a tooth and filling. Yet I was still concerned about getting the virus and passing it to a family member who is among the vulnerable so I continued to wait until finally contacting them about ten days ago.I communicated my concerns and they replied with a detailed summary of the protocols they have implemented to reduce the risk of transmission. I felt more confident yet still hesitant but after my visit where the receptionist met me outside the office and asked me to review a sheet confirming I had no symptoms and had my temperature checked I felt better. After a brief wait they brought me in to see the Dentist. What clinched it for me was when I saw that the dentist was wearing two masks and a face shield showing me their dedication to patient safety.As for the cleaning it was thorough and painless. My teeth feel free!I will update this after I get my filling but for safe and effective dentistry TD is great!

The best dentist experience ever!

During the past 3 years I’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. Ruhi, John and others during my visits. I’ve had cleanings, two extractions, and several mercury fillings removed and replaced with non-toxic fillings. The atmosphere is low-key and comfortable. I happen to not have dental insurance and even so, I found their prices totally affordable. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt like writing this. They deserve it. Thank you.

Ive been a patient here since 2015 and would readily give the great staff and dentists at Transcendentist 10 stars! Not only is their care high-tech and comprehensive, they are kind and remarkably able to make a super anxious dental patient like me feel safe and comfortable. This was also the FIRST green dental practice in the nation and they continue to find green ways to operate - even with COVID protocols. Truly cannot recommend them enough! I used to dread going to the dentist, but now I am glad to be with this loving group of people - even if I still am anxious about dental work. It has been a big transformation in my life to no longer fear going to the dentist that has also paid off in greatly improved dental health. As for COVID care, we had just begun the Invisalign process before the pandemic, so Ive also been in their offices during COVID and am always impressed by their careful attention to safety. They have chosen to exceed county guidelines while still remaining friendly and warm.

On Friday morning 5/1/2020 I was eating a bowl of Granola and bit down on a nut and cracked one of my teeth. I was between dental offices and did a web search and discovered Transcendental Office. On their website they have a place where you can leave your information and I was contacted by Val after only 35 minutes. She gave me a brief survey and then sent me via email the documents I was required to fill out. When I asked when I could be seen she said that on 5/2/2020 Today they would be able to see me. Both of the Dentists were there when I arrived this morning and they were the most compassionate and loving Dentists I have ever met. They treated me incredibly well and it took two hours in the chair to fix my tooth. I have found a new dentist now and I will be going back to them for more work as soon as they fully re-open.

Caring, Expert, Nice atmosphere, everyone is tuned in and intelligent, and the two doctors (mine is Dr. Praj) are skilled, giving you excellent craftmanship and reducing discomfort of the experience as much as possible. I am loyal and would go nowhere else.

During my last visit with Dr. Praj Kamat, I mentioned to her the challenges I was having with sleeping and not being able to use the CPAP machine. She told me about great research results with combination therapy with oral appliance devices and CPAP. I moved a few years ago to the East Bay and I needed to find a new dentist, but I procrastinated. Fast forward to March 2020 and I finally had time and the word COVID19 becomes part of the lexicon and it is life altering.As I am sheltering in place, I find myself dealing with a tooth ache that is getting increasingly intense in the level of pain and I cannot go to the dentist.Three months later and it is now May and I randomly started calling dentist because the pain is intolerable.Two dentist flat out said no, they were not taking new patients.The third dental office I called was Transcendentist in Berkeley and I spoke with Valerie.She was kind, compassionate and she got me an appointment as soon as possible.I went to the appointment and the office followed all of the COVID19 protocol.The team was exceptionally kind and I felt comfortable with Dr. Kamat immediately.She and her staff took their time treating me.She explained in detail what needed to be done.And she got me an appointment the very next day to see an endodontist where I had an emergency root canal at the appointment.They are transparent about the cost and the reimbursement process. They do require that you pay for services upfront the office files the claim with your insurance carrier andthe Carrier sends you a check.The upshot is that they were able to save the tooth and do a crown. From my 1st phone call with Valerie to my last appointment with Dr. Kamat, I felt very well cared for as a person.It is without hesitation that I recommend Dr. Kamat and her team at Transcendentist.

Dr. Fred and the whole team at Transcendentist are truly powerful healers. The peace, calm, comfort, friendliness and care the emanate from the office are almost unbelievable. Who would have thought that you could actually leave a visit to the dentist feeling more centered than you arrived? The foot massages during my treatment as well as Dr. Freds gentle, supportive and loving but professional demeanor really put me at ease even when Im having cavities filled. Very much an only in berkeley type of place. a bit too much, but truly wonderful at the same time. very green and patient focused. and, they offer foot/hand massages during procedures. really great.

I slept for 20 mins! I was in last week for a 1-2 hour procedure. As usual, I was made very comfortable the moment I entered and was told what we were going to do that day. After numbing, I was provided oxygen and nitrous oxide. Part way through the entirely pain-free procedure, I was offered a foot massage, which I gladly accepted...and promptly fell asleep while dental work was occurring in my mouth.The comfort, attention to detail and real concern for your well being is present with every visit. Dr. Fred and his team are highly recommended.

My smile has gone from good to great; a transformative experience that was well orchestrated by Dr. Fred and his capable team. I would like to share my wonderful dental experience with all of you. I am a big dental phobe and deathly scared of being in a dentalchair but I have the most awesome dentists who have helped me to get past my fears. Yesterday I saw Dr Praj and of course she made my dental visit so calming and I felt so taken care of during and after my dental visit! Thank Dr Praj❤

I landed at Transcendentist after almost 6 months of back and forth poor work from my last dentist, dealing with everything from cavities to a 4-time recurring infection from a partially finished root canal to—you name it. I came in already relieved to throw myself into another dentists arms and Im so lucky to have thrown myself here. From my first visit John and Dr. Praj conveyed such a genuine empathy for both my previous experiences and my current state of affairs. If the warm peaceful energy and aesthetic of the office itself isnt enough, their authenticity and bedside manner more than is. Everyone in the office, really. With no dental insurance and little money to my name, Valerie and Tawny at the front desks helped me formulate a care plan that I could financially tackle a little at a time while prioritizing the most urgent appointments first. They are always both a positive and friendly presence to be greeted with at the door. During dental work Dr. Praj will stop and fully explain what she will be doing next, or why, or how, and fully involves you in your care and visit and this has been such a joy as well as it implements an element of education for you as the patient, and builds a serious trust between patient and caretaker. This interactiveness has built such a relationship between myself and everyone at this office that is such a unique culture compared to any caretakers office I have ever been to. Not once has Dr. Praj ever let slip a single note of judgement or discontent over any scary thing she has found in my xrays (haha) but rather always, ALWAYS deep compassion and concern. Communication and transparency is so obviously a serious virtue here and I really dont know how to recommend this place enough. At the front office there is a sign that says We treat people, not teeth (or something along those lines), and that really *really* is their modus operandi and the way they have embarked with me in every single visit. If you have trouble with your dental care and otherwise hate going to the dentist, I encourage you to step foot in here. I love going to the dentist because I go to this one. Thank you to everyone at Transcendentist who routinely make my day and my dental health better with each visit.

I went in with white teeth and big and square, I had a minor fracture on the front right and a small chip on bond on the front left *see front pictures of size and shape, I had just seen another dentist in hawaii and he said it was not in need of repair. however I had not had a relationship with the NEW dentist that bought the business from the professional and superb Dr Pockrass: who I was faithful to and spent thousands and thousands of dollars wither 16 years, requesting a second opinion she proceeded to fill in the chip and crack for over $500.00. Sangha Kamat Dental repair fell apart in the first week. Went back and was hammered for over 5 hours, I almost fell off the chair when her FIRST attempt took my beautiful teeth down to rounded and small! ...From then on it got worse and worse until she destroyed my teeth. I was in her chair over 7 hours for a slight filling that went from bad to worse. Nw my teeth are YELLOW! and thr right one is rounded the left one has a crazy texture and divot. this is MY face she has de faced and had the nerve to tell me to not come back to the office. I must admit I have been a hair dresser all my life and this allowed me to be v. patient and understanding. I was calm as it got worse and worse and more and more painful. Mostly because I KNEW she would fix it.. sadly.. I am wrong. not only did she send me out with strange teeth with wierd finish color and texture, I HAVE been in pain ever since. I had NO pain what so ever to start with. not until second appointment from 10 am to 3 pm .. I am shocked at her lack of care, responsibility and the mess she. made of my smile. Bless her in her business ..as she failed and dismissed ME as a client.. I have never had such horrible treatment.. this is not hair it will not grow back. be careful with this new DDS ...clearly daddy bought her the business and she has no idea how to run a business in America! I have had three successful Dr Pockrass to hundreds of people, but Dear Doctor Pockrass would Never allow this to happen. He was the best and if it was not perfect, he was proficient to make it perfect. this is a mouth It requires a professional. of which Sangha Kamat Dental is shamefully a disgrace to the business community. .after the third appointment I ended up w a dark line on front right jagged edges, something sticking out on front left tooth strange color & surface. I asked for a refund for my money that I had to borrow for this fiasco, and she gave me back $295 out of five or 550.00- so I guess her limited exam is close to $300 I look forward to getting copies of my x-rays from that exam and pictures..( my current pictures to follow ). jus$125>00 than had a excellent examine from Gary Grablin this was even more impressive than any dentist I have ever met and HE does NOT charge for his exams and brilliant man he will fix it all .. so kind and generous..so my story turns out great .. I dont really want to know how Sangha Kamat Dental story turns out ! I know I will shine.. she did all this trauma to my teeth then told me she would no longer be my dentist! Who causes such problems and then says oops I cant do it, ? and now I dont want you to come back...wow no confidence or back up on her service? bless her.. it will be interesting to see how this business changes, as this is NOT the way to do customer service or professional dental workfew weeks later from dds regarding damage from Dr Kamat (now mind you I had just seen my daughters dds in Hawaii and had a cleaning a few weeks prior visiting the new owner Dr Sangha KamatDDS GARY Grablin spend 5 hours on exam, he saysHi Kelli:When I first met you, I felt the contour and Lenght of the restorations done in Berkeley were pretty good. Also, the shade looked pretty good.However, when I saw you for your exam, I noted that the composite was starting to discolor. I believe it was picking up moisture and this was contributing to the change in shade.$1000.00to repair Dr Kamats work resulting in damage to MY teeth now: brownish color with dark spots and strange Sharpe chunk to edges

I grew up going to an amazing dentist in New Jersey so I resigned myself to the fate that I would never find someone as amazing once I moved to California. After a series of mediocre dentists, my friend referred me to Dr. Fred and there has been no turning back.Dr. Fred is comforting, technically skilled and empathic. He worked on some severely broken teeth that were the result of a broken jaw a few years back. Although revisiting the incident was traumatic (I cried in the dentists chair and was offered some rescue remedy), Dr. Fred took incredible care of me and now I have beautifully repaired and healthy teeth that look as good as new!The office is lovely and calming, the foot massage during the dental work is incredible, Valerie and Teresa at the front desk are patient and kind, and everyone who works there is genuinely wonderful. I especially appreciate that Dr. Fred (and the providers hes referred me to) call later on in the day to check in with me and see how Im feeling post dental procedure.I have referred Dr. Fred to friends and I will continue to do so!

I went to Pockrass for my first visit, after confirming that they accepted my Delta Dental Insurance. I never paid a cent for dental work in 40 years. When I arrived they confirmed with me that they would bill Delta. Before I left, they had me pay a $300 bill and stated I would get a complete reimbursement from Delta. I am on a limited income, I had to use the little I had in savings, believing I would be reimbursed.Not so. I only got little more than half back and when I called about this I was told that they were not in Deltas service and they do not take any insurance. That whatever I got was it. So be forewarned, people, you will be dealing with an unethical company, no matter how good they are. Yes, its a beautiful setting, yes, Dr. Pockrass does great work, but to mislead a patient regarding insurance is unethical.

This morning I braved the rain, thunder and lightning to get to my appointment on time and when I arrived, a few minutes late sorry, I was met by the warm welcome of Dr. Freds office and staff. I feel so well cared for and everytime Im there. From the warm tea in the waiting room, to the hot towel to wipe my face, I truly feel pampered. Not to mention they take amazing care of my teeth. My teeth feel and look great and its all because of Dr. Fred and and Naz and all the rest. Thank you for taking such good care of me.xo Maya

Can’t say enough great things about Dr. Fred Pockrass and his team at the Transcendentist! Although I never “minded” going to the dentist I actually look forward to my appointments these days. This team will make you very comfortable and attended to and are genuinely concerned about your experience and how you feel. Even just walking into their office, the welcoming warmth of how it is decorated let’s you know this isn’t going to be your typical experience. Dr Pockrass was recommended to me by my ENT doctor as I wanted to be fitted for an oral appliance to help with my sleep apnea. It was a great recommendation as the device is working well. Dr Pockrass is way ahead of the curve here as the FDA has finally approved oral appliances to help treat sleep apnea. I now go to him for everything and want to return the favor by recommending everyone to this office so that others can also know what a great dentist can be like. I am so glad I found him!

As a professional Dentist AVOIDER for about 20 years, you can probably guess that I dont like going to the dentist. My dental visits as a youth were unpleasant and when I became an adult I basically skipped dental visits the way a child gives their despised food to the family dog under the table when no one is looking. To my own credit, I am one of the only people I know who doesnt have any cavities, so I was pretty happy about that. But over the years my teeth have been overlapping, so I decided to look into braces.I decided to go to a dentist recently and they told me the only way I could get braces was that i was going to have this procedure where they go under my gum line with a sharp metal tool and scrape the crap out of me and i need to do it in sections on different days because it hurt so bad and you cant eat for days after. I left that appointment practically in tears.Fortunately, i told some friends what they wanted to do to me and one of my friends said, oh NO! you need to go to Trancendentist! They have this laser treatment for your gums... no pain, no digging under your gum line with sharp tools, and youll be eating dinner that night!Since she was a friend, I trusted her and made an appointment.I can tell you gratefully that my visits to Dr. Pockrass office have not only been pleasant but Ive actually upgraded my dental routine, doing great with my invisalign program, and p.s. thanks for the foot massage too!The office itself is clean and nice, comfortable lighting and ambiance- completely different than the cold medical feel of conventional dentistry with harsh lighting and fake sterile vibe they consider healthy.If you have had difficulties elsewhere,I HIGHLY recommend giving Transcendentist a shot...
