I have been coming to McGrath Medical on a weekly bases for almost 10 years for laser hair therapy.Red light therapy for scalp stimulation and hair growth. If I could give more stars I would!!!! We could not be happier with McGrath Medical. My son started showing hair thinning as early as 9-10 grade. We didnt even look for help because he was young and we thought our only remedy was surgery. After high school, we interviewed several of the top Hair Restoration Docs in the country...McGrath Medical was the only one thats said, lets start slow and see if the less invasive treatments work, we were apprehensive because my son just wanted results and was tired of dealing with it. I never knew there was an official name for the type of hair loss I had experienced until I found McGrath Medical. Through McGrath Medical, I learned more about traction alopecia and the different types of services offered to help correct the hair loss. My hair was always styled very neatly as a child but that in turn pulled my hair too tight which killed my hair follicles and caused hair loss. For YEARS I didn’t know how to grow my hair back. I would not recommend Skin Envy/Mcgrath Medical in Austin Tx. I received a Prp treatment here for hair restoration. I was told that I would only need one treatment and the cost was $3500. After finding myself unhappy with the lack of results and zero replys to my messages and phone calls, I decided to further my research. In doing so I consulted with 3 different doctors, all who provided me with honest, substantial information. At all three locations I was told a series of THREE treatments are recommended for Prp hair restoration. The price I was quoted at all three places was $1200 for a package of FOUR treatments!!! I do not appreciate the false information I received and I also do not appreciate being taken advantage of. I recommend doing a vast research prior to accepting outrageous, unethical treatment plans.

1 year ago I was recommended McGrath Medical and Dr. Dan McGrath by a friend which was very pleased of the results he obtained (which were notable). When reached the appointment I was expecting to be sold and expensive solution to be very frank, instead Steve Cook explained in detail the options I had and choose 1st a 6-8 month prescription approach to make the hair stronger and ticker. I started seeing a significant improvement around month 6 and last week when visited McGrath Medical for a review and compared photos from my 1st visit to today I can truly tell a significant improvement, but most important, I was told I dont require surgery at this point and to continue with prescribed medicine. Great experience! After a ton of research, I chose Dr McGrath for my transplant, as he is one of the best in the country. The results are amazing after 9 months and I can’t believe I waited so long to make the move. Typing this review is a bit difficult. In part because of the journey itself, along with the mental aspect of the results and having to paint all that in a concise way that does proper justice. I am a 36yr Male and opted for the FUT strip hair restoration. Completed 2 surgeries spaced about 16 months apart. Started losing hair mid 20s and was a Class VI prior to first FUT session. The journey has been an emotional one, it’s the best way to describe it. First surgery was Nov 15’ but had been wanting, searching and planning on how to get hair restoration since 2009. Your researching reviews now so no need to establish the importance of One’s hair. The mental effect of seeing, feeling and washing your own hair that is now covering places previously barren is indescribable. The results took, time and patience but the recovery/growth was not only steady but worth every second. Nothing was left to the imagination by the performing Doctor and staff of what to expect in regard to the timeline of recovery/growth. This was extremely beneficial. My first point of contact, along with my deciding reason to choose this establishment, was their Customer Service Rep Steve. We met face to face and talked on the phone several times prior to committing to the first surgery. It was the passion, knowledge, energy and the upfront delivery of info (good or bad) that lead me to put my trust in him. This trust was justified and carried over into my interactions with the performing doctor, Doctor McGrath. What lead me to put my trust in him was his exactness, his methodical and take it or leave it approach. You get the idea of an artist looking at a blank canvass when he looks at your scalp. He creates. Simple as that. I can say with no hesitation or exaggeration, this professionalism and attention to detail, shown throughout the whole aiding staff, receptionist, etc. The business building itself was clean, inviting and accessible. From the very beginning, I wanted a physician who was realistic about what my expectations needed to be. Steve, Dr. McGrath’s Marketing Director, and Dr. McGrath provided this as well as a pre surgery plan that included a year of other therapy and most of all, a comfort level I did not get from the other Physician who was pressuring me to surgery right away. It has now been 20 months and I can say with confidence that Dr. McGrath has exceeded my expectations by delivering a product that went far beyond his realistic goal. I had my surgery in September of 2018 and since then, the results have been dramatic. I am still within the one year window of post-surgery growth, but can say without hesitation that I know I made the right choice. The level of support Steve, Dr. McGrath and all the staff of McGrath Medical have provided have been top notch!! On the day of my surgery, Dr. McGrath and his staff made all the arrangements to make my day easy and comfortable. My post-surgery instructions and follow up were easy to understand and comply with. I first came in, and the hair on the sides of my wasn’t ready enough for the transplant surgery. I had been to about 3 different hair restoration clinics, but McGrath was the first one to say I wasn’t ready. My hair wasn’t strong enough for the surgery yet, but they can help make it stronger. They didn’t want me to have the surgery done, just for it to not work because my hair wasn’t strong enough yet.So they prescribed me a pill that their partnered pharmacy makes that is a mix of finesteride, minoxidil, and the last one (I forgot what it’s called). I was told my that if I take the pill every day, my hair will become a lost stronger, and my bald spot will come in. First thought that came in my mind was “Yeah bro whatever haha. I underwent follicular unit transfer by Dr. McGrath and his staff 16 months ago for male pattern baldness. About 3200 follicular units were transferred. The whole experience was A+ from the start! Now that the hair has grown in I am extremely excited about the results and very happy with my investment. Extremely natural results, inconspicuous scar. Absolutely worth it! There are cheaper centers out there but Ive heard too many horror stories to go cheap with my hair!

I went into McGrath Medical completely set on getting a hair transplant. Dr. McGrath and his team explained that I may not be a good candidate for the transplant due to my specific type of hair loss which was very disappointing to hear. They explained that there were alternative treatments that people with my type of hair loss had a lot of success with. I walked out extremely skeptical but went ahead with the treatment program and could not be happier with the results. They steered me away from a very expensive procedure which I was chomping at the bit to get even though it meant much less money for them. I cant recommend them enough!

It has been one year since I have my FUE procedure, and couldnt be happier. I researched a few other places before making the commitment and decision to go with McGrath, and am so glad I did. Joan Rivers, rest her soul, has a personal motto... better a new face coming out of an old car than an old face coming out of a new car. Spend your money on you.I turned 34 this year and was getting married. I knew I had receding hair, thin hair, and had settled with my look until I woke up one morning and looked in the mirror and wasnt happy with how my hair was progressing. Some men look great balding and can totally pull it off. I was unfortunately looking like a thumb, so I started researching options and treatments. They have a treatment where you inject your own plasma into your scalp, wear a hat with small red lights, even a 2D micro blading technique. Some of these options were significantly cheaper, but The results of the FUE were so much more dramatic and promising.I had the surgery a year ago, and it wasnt too bad. Its about 6 hours or so, but feels like 45 minutes with the meds you get (haha). You are given a 10 day supply of antibiotics and creams with an instruction packet of when/what to take, when to wash your hair, and when you can wear a hat or beanie.One of the other benefits of this procedure is that there is no scarring. (Yes the first couple days the back of your head looks scabbed and gross from where the air follicles were pulled out, but literally day 4 this wasnt noticeable) No line scar in the back of your head where it will stand out for life, and my barber always comments when she does a razor bald fade on the back of my head how she cant tell I had surgery a year ago. Of course if you have longer hair, it looks even thicker, but I like to wear my hair shorter.A year ago, I questioned the cost vs benefit for this, and am SO glad I went through with it. I no longer look at my hairline whenever I see a picture of me, and get comments by friends and family about how my hair looks good.Dr McGrath also hand picks the follicles and transplants them manually (you cant feel this). Some facilities use a machine that was a little cheaper (not by much), but Dr McGrath is different than a machine because he actually inspects each follicle to determine if it is a good transplant candidate or not, and also places your hairline in a more natural way compared to a machine and assistant (that may or may not have the experience he has).Long review, but overall worth every cent.

I came with a Groupon for 4 Lipolaser sessions.The first thing that the technician in charge tried to do was to tell me I was not a good candidate for that, that I should have 3-deep sessions for a cost of $2000+.When I said I was not interested, I felt I was of no interest to her.She started my treatment, (no picture were taken although I understood it was part of the treatment), forgot about me (I had to call the receptionist when I was in the room). During my last treatment, she just did not show up at the end to remove the devices attached to my legs. I had to do it myself and proceed to exit. The receptionist was very surprised that no picture were taken.Although the treatment is probably a good one, maybe it was not done properly on me (as I was not generating enough revenue). I will never spend another dollar at this location as it will never be enough to be properly served.I would advise anybody to search for another office for such treatment.

I am little over a year in and couldnt be happier with my results. Worth every penny!
