I will never use this company again. We were told that we were being upgraded to a much better vehicle but it was because of poor planning on their part. They didnt reserve the car type we booked. Everyone was getting upgraded. It was a nicer vehicle but we ended up spending more on gas because of it. We booked what we booked to save money on gas. The staff also didnt know what was going on. While in line, multiple people ahead of us came back in and told staff that someone else just drove off with their car. For some reason our rep took much longer with us then the other staff members did with the people that came to them. The others checked in three other parties in the time it took us to get through. Once in the parking lot there where staff running around every where but non actually helped us and one even laughed and said good luck finding help. Finally we semi figured out what to do and we drove to the exit gate thinking the staff would do a walk around with us to determine damage. Instead he just took our damage papers and tried to send us on our way. I bought up that the damage report hadnt been done yet, due to the fact that they didnt even give us a pen OR even explain to us what needed to be done. We finally were able to get out of the garage and instantly noticed more damage that we couldnt see in the dim lit parking garage. We tried calling customer service to report the damage but they basically told us to go online and fill out a form. Longer story shortened, we will never use this company again.

They lie to you and say you will be charged 15$ for each toll you go through plus the cost of the toll if you dont buy the toll pass for extra 12.95$ a day. Also saying you can not pay with cash at any of the tolls, all by plate/mail hence the 15$ per toll extra charge. Went through 1 toll and it had a cash/change window. Also try to sell you insurance without explaining your personal coverage is sufficient. I understand upselling, but these people are shady, lying con artist. I need more hands to give 4 thumbs done. Never will rent from any thrifty or related company again...Thats Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty owned by Hertz. You got me this time... hope the extra $$$ goes along ways for you losers...

If I could give -45 stars to this rental place, I would! I picked up a rental 2020 Kia Optima on 02/05/2020 at 1900 and parked it at Killeen Fort Hood airport in Clear Creek Rd in Killeen Texas on 02/09/2020 around 22:50 . I parked my rental at 4-5 spot for Hertz at around 2250. There was a representative there that took my keys and did not walk out to lok at the vehicle to inspect. The next day I seen two invoices one for the ORIGINAL price they were going to charge then the next one stating there was damage. I called them immediately to find out what damage they were talking about (I thought it was the exterior). If so I would be willing to pay because someone could have hit it on my travels. I found out that the charge was due to smoking? I do not smoke. I called the manager (Katiria I think) to gain some clarity on the manner and she stated that 1. she couldnt help me due to the fact that the employee that inspected stated 2. call my bank to dispute it because once the charge goes through she cant help 3. the pictures indicated that I smoked and the representative stated it 4. they already took it to get detailed so she couldnt verify. I asked her to send me the pictures (which I will attach to this) and she state well it does look like someone was smoking I claimed that it wasnt me it could have been her employee she stated Oh she doesnt smoke and I do? I was very outraged and upset that I contacted their customer service hotline and they provided me a claims for customers to dispute. The pictures that are attached state that it was ash spread and in the door and middle console. It could be anything that may have fell in the car. How can you send it with out letting me know of extra charges? It is basically your word against mine at this time and I am just supposed to agree that I did something I didnt do which is not far. The photos that were taken can be anything and they did not show which car it was from the photo just close up images of what they found. Moreover, Katiria mentioned in an email that it is $300 however Im charged 400 ; discrepancy. I was able to give the keys to the representative at the kiosk she took the keys and didnt go and inspect the car and let me know of any charges that day. In the policy Katiria send mentioned that.... In most cases you will know before leaving the Hertz lot if I will be charged and I wasnt notified or told that night. Secondly, the policy also mentioned... The Instant Return Representative makes the determination if a vehicle has been smoked in. If there is no Instant Return Representative available when the car is returned, the Vehicle Service Attendant will make the determination. She was present and did not do or mention an inspection in my presence. If I did something wrong I do not have any problem admitting or paying for what I need to pay for. However, I do not smoke and I should not be charged for something I did not do. Based on those pictures, I do not see a clear verification of smoking nor verification it was my car nor notified or inspected in my presence. I am very dissatisfied and not appreciating the fact that I am being charged and told I did something I didnt do. The manager that was talking to me concerning this manner was not helpful and couldnt verify anything because she wasnt not present nor could see for herself. Also they mentioned to me when I rented that I have to avoid tolls or the processing would be difficult. I agreed and they also told me that if I called them ahead of time I would be good. I mistakenly went through one toll and told them immediately. I then get a letter in the mail for the toll which was only 1.50 and an administrative fee of 15$ ? They are trying any way to get money and I dont appreciate that! This has been the worse experience and by far the WORSE car rental place I have ever used along with their customer service! AVOID AT ALL COST;CHEAP IS NOT BETTER!

MEH.We got to the Austin TX airport and went directly to thrifty car rental counter; they were sold out. They said they wouldnt have anything until next day, so I asked them if they would shuttle or drive us to the hotel airport we were staying at .5 miles away, and they said they dont do that, so then I asked if they would cover an uber to get us there and they told me no, so we had to spend $10 on an uber to get to our hotel and then $10 to get back to thrifty the next day. $20 that didnt need to be spent. They also pushed me to purchase the toll package which was almost $80.Their insurance options were also astronomical costing me $700 for insurance alone for the week; not too Thrifty. Not to mention we had to push them to get us in the SUV that we ordered months in advance because they were trying to stick us in a Chevy Malibu; we had to wait for an SUV to be returned because they would not upgrade the vehicle to a larger SUV.Ill probably be sticking with Enterprise Car Rental from now on.

ABSOLUTELY HORRID EXPERIENCE! COMPLETELY RUINED MY ENTIRE TRIP HERE!!! Read all the reviews carefully, they definitely speak volumes! I was given a push start car and before you leave the airport they ask for the keys, paperwork, your id as a confirmation before leaving. I drove off almost 40mins away to find out they never handed me my keys back!!!! So once I turn off the car I was stuck at my location with NO CAR! They had called once* (unknown number) and left a voicemail with NO return number. I had to Uber 40mins to the airport and almost an hour back to my other location because they do not answer any phones, AT ALL! They chose to only refund me half, and there manager had a complete attitude with me! I never complain like this or do reviews, but the ruined my entire trip to Austin! I was here for something very important and could not attended due to their ignorance & lack of communication. I will never purchase through them again!

The Hertz desk said they only work until 10PM. I talked to another traveler who couldnt get out of the rental garage because the guy that opens the gate went home at 11PM. I had to Uber to my hotel. When I called to try to get a car the next day pretty much everything in town was gone and I had to wait in person at a Hertz in south Austin for someone to turn in a car. They had no explanation for that and demanded I pay the additional or I would not be able to rent. After returning the car post trip, I received a Bill in the mail for right at $50 for toll charges, my toll charges were only $3 but their fees brought it to $50- FOR THREE DOLLARS?! These are problems, we were told we were paying $200 deposit and would get it back when we returned the car. We were asked if we wanted a toll pass and it would cost us $50. When we returned the car it was $67.00 also other fee were added that were not explained to us. Now we are only getting $129 because of all the fees that were added. We have rented several cars in the past but from different companies without any problems. I will never ever use Thrifty again or any company associated with them. $415 for a four day rental on a small vehicle unacceptable especially when I was orginally quote from Priceline $181.82. Absolutely horrible experience.First, I made the reservation through Expedia declining the additional items. I went to pick up the vehicle and again told them I was declining the additional items they charged my card and folded the receipt in the pamphlet without going over anything. When I got to the car I realized they charged me over what I had originally been quoted. They had added the full tank of gas and roadside assistance, neither I wanted. I called and told them to remove both charges.I used the vehicle and returned it on the due time and date, full tank of gas and everything. Paperwork states the original price quoted and a full tank. Now the issues. Although the website says continental US the Austin airport facility does not follow this and charged me an additional charge of 40 dollars a day for mileage based on the fact the vehicle went into Arizona. When asked multiple times at return what the final cost would be they stated that it would be original price plus 40/day for 7 days equals an additional 280 dollars. Now a week later I check my credit card and there are 2 charges on it, expected, what wasnt expected was the amounts. the first charge is the rental that now has the full tank and roadside assistance back on it. The second is the mileage but it is in the 350 range not the 280 range they had stated. When asked about the fuel charge when I brought it back with a full tank I was told that their system says it was brought back with half a tank which means it was changed as I have the receipt showing it was input as full.I have called nearly 50 times and either receive no answer or a desk clerk who says they can do nothing for me and I must speak to a manager. However no matter how many calls to a manager or multiple messages I have received no calls back or answers.

Terrible policies with regards to Toll Road usage - Texas has a very simple mechanism to use toll roads and charge based upon the license plate. This location of Thrifty requires you to either rent a toll tag for $10 per day OR they will fine you $45 + tolls if you mistakenly use a toll road and do not rent the toll tag. I am a regular Blue Chip member and was surprised by the service received when recently renting a vehicle from the Austin Airport location. I was at the desk at the time indicated on my reservation. When approaching the desk, I saw the big sign that stated Cars Available and proceeded to the counter. Upon arrival, the attendant informed me that there was no cars and another individual ahead of me was waiting. She stated that I would have to go on a waiting list. Mind you, I had a reservation. I stood there looking at her and told her I have an important business meeting that I was already potentially going to be late for. She said sorry, but they have no vehicles. She made no effort to work out anything as far as obtaining a vehicle. I left immediately to go to another rental company to find that one out of the 3 I tried had a vehicle. I paid double the cost since I had no reservation. I contacted the Thrifty main customer service who offered to send me some coupons for my next rental. I expressed that I am not sure if I would be renting from them again due to reoccurrence of the situation. I also contact the manager of the Austin location who stated that at no time did they not have any vehicles and therefore something out of the ordinary must have been the problem. Nobody seemed to be concern with the inconvenience or seriousness of my potentially meeting a business meeting. Be aware when traveling to this location.

I left 2 garage openers i. The rental car. Although they were great to say they would send them even tho I preferred to have my son pick them up, a week later I received a bill from Fed Ex for over $53. If Inhad known I would have insisted my son pick them up as he lives in the area.

Hours state that they open at the counter at 6am. Long flight from Anchorage to Austin. Just wanted my car and instead waited. Its now 640am and still waiting for someone to show up at the counter. Called customer service and was told that they will make a note for the manager and that they could not do anything more. Would have gone somewhere else if not for already reserved. On upside when i was assisted at the outside booth the attendant was pretty cool and got me taken care of quick. Originally was going to rate 1 star although the booth attendant redeemed some of my experience. That is why i gave 3 stars.

Worse car rental experience ever! Arrived at the airport and tried to pick up the car at my reserved time. Was told that there was no car available and I had to wait for 40 min to get a car. I was tired and my family was waiting, trying to argue with them and was told there were other customers who were ahead of me were still waiting, making it sound like this was a very normal situation. Even told me I was welcome to cancel the order with them and find any other rental company. Of course, they only had more expensive vehicles available, so my options were either wait at the counter for 40 min or upgraded to a small SUV. This was first time I rented through expedia with thrifty. Will never use them again!

The car was great, pick up and drop off was easy... and then I got my credit card bill with $89 more than the original quote. Huh. And no online contact info on their website. I guess thats because of all the bad reviews theyre getting.

Made my booking through Orbitz at 17$ a day for a rental from Monday to Friday. Orbitz said it was $136 with taxes and fees. 61$ in rental and 75$ in taxes and fees.2 days into the rental I needed to extend the rental for 24 hours. Orbitz Itinerary said a 24 hour late fee was $20.79. I called the Austin Thrifty for THREE DAYS straight. Chose every option trying to talk to a live person to confirm the late charge. I even called the corporate office and they said the Austin thrifty didn’t “activate” my rental so they couldn’t make any changes, confirm any info or extend my rental.I decided to trust my Orbitz confirmation email since I couldn’t get any answers in any way. The Austin thrifty called back at 2pm the day of the extension after three days of no reply or answer. I asked to speak to a supervisor but unfortunately I already was. Philip Huron was not helpful, gave no explanation for why their location didn’t answer the phone and pretty much could charge me whatever he wanted. In the end I feel like they didn’t answer until it was too late and had me in a position where I couldn’t do anything. I was charged $273 for a 5 day rental at 17$ a day for the first 4. They tack on some surcharge of 6$ a day as well which doesn’t show up anywhere when you make your reservation. Do yourself a favor, go for another company or check out Turo. $273/5 days comes to about 55$ which can get you a great car on a car sharing app. Philip was well versed in dealing with people who were upset with their tactics. Shameful.

Rented an SUV. Paid on line. Picked up vehicle and was told there would be an incidental charge to my credit card but would be refunded upon return if no issues. Charge never came off. Receipt breakdown of charges are different from what their billing said they were but suspiciously the totals are the same. 2 times I called in and was told they would be refunded. 3 months later and on my third call was told the charges are correct and no refund. Never will use a company that charges hidden fees.

The representative was not at the counter when we arrived. we waited assuming they were in restroom. Waited, Waited, called and got someone from an answering service, They contacted the rep and he came out, but was so rude it was unreal. I have never been treated with so much disrespect in my life. I will not rent from this company that is for sure, I will walk first. Had to give them one star in order to post.

Easy enough, and competitively priced. But be aware that the extras are lacking on vehicles. Our RAV4 had no power seats, no satellite radio, no automatic hatch door, etc etc. But a good price for a decent vehicle nonetheless, and customer service was easy-peasy

Terrible Service!!!Flight was late so they gave my car away and did NOTHING to help and had zero concern. Left me late at night without a way to get to my hotel standing in the dark. Never, never, never use them. What if it would have been a lady late at night with kids just abandoned? These guys are a clueless and careless business.

I was about 30 minutes early for my scheduled pickup time so my car wasnt available. This was an obvious ploy to get me to upgrade, which I did rather than wait 30 minutes for no reason at all. It was also clear that the young employee could care less about being there. The employee started walking me through the contract without ever once offering (in fact advising me to decline) optional coverages. I had to tell her to wait, backup, and explain the options so could actually make an informed decision. The care drove well enough.

This place was the worst ever. They let me rent a faulty vehicle and thought they could force me to drive it back to their location instead of simply picking it up from the nearest thrifty location since it was an unsafe vehicle to drive. This location in turn told me that if the vehicle breaks down I will have to pay fr all cost so i immediately took it to the nearest location possible and turned it in. My whole vacation ruined because this place gave me an unsafe car and expected me to drive it. I Think Not!. Now that they got their vehicle they have charged all erroneous charges even though they are the ones who told me to bring the vehicle in as soon as possible. Crazy, I will never go here or recommend to an.one and anywhere I see this franchise type company they will get a negative rating from me

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES!! This Thrifty location is privately owned and not directly related to Thrifty. They gouge and drop in hidden costs everywhere they can. We rented a car from them and they charged us the wrong rate. When we followed up, a very cooperative agent helped us on the phone, and told us he would send a corrected statement. The corrective statement turned out to be a bill with additional and different hidden costs. They also offered the gas fill option at low rate but do not divulge that there is 50% tax on it. We have tried to follow up by phone on numerous occasions and they have not been available or told us to call back because they are busy at the counter. They offer you gas fill at lower than going rate, Recommend you rent elsewhere, or if you do rent there read every detail and ask every question and if it doesnt seem right, walk away.

Rented a car through Autoslash. When we arrived the car wasnt available yet. Waited 25 min. for car to become available.Added my Southwest FF# and was charged $1.50 per day to do so. I was never informed of charge and would not have paid it if it was mentioned in advance.Asked to have charge removed and was told only the mgr. could revise the bill. Said fine, lets do so, but mgr.wasnt there. Pretty irritated at this point, which agent sensed He then mentioned tha I was the 5 the customer complaining about the charge that week. I was given the managers card, called and spoke to her the following Mon. Explained the circumstances and asked again for charges to be dropped. Now told by mgr that bill was closed out and could not be done.What...??????? Really no ability to give a credit on my acct.?....Totla catch 22.Basically told mgr. that isnt possible, any business can issue a credit. I was then told that charge was from Southwest.Poorly run business, rude and slow employees. Do not use . I will use anyone but Thrifty for future car rentals. If this is a franchise, Thrifty should pay attention to all the terrible review and take action . Bad reflection on Thrifty Corp. One last note, Southwest Corporate office said that they do not receive any money from the fee charged by rental company, so blatant lie by Thrifty . Heads up...... many car companies add a fee if you apply your FF#. And applies to many different airlines, not just Southwest. Such a rip off !,,,,,,Ask before before you add it.

Awful. Rip off. I rented a car with Thrifty at AUS through Orbitz. The quoted price including all fees and taxes was $81.15. When I returned the car on time I was charged $99.10. I tried to contact the Thrifty agency at AUS: impossible to get a human being. Orbitz tried as well. Watch out for this location. Update: I finally received a credit to my bill with the assistance of my credit card company. The attendant at the AUS Thrifty location, Gabriella, was very professional and helpful. This location clearly has a habit of over billing customers as these reviews reflect. Just keep your eye open for anomalous charges.

I arrived to the rental desk to pick up my car only to be directed out to the pavilion. (There is one agent working for Dollar & Thrifty) After waiting 15 minutes in line while the clerk flirted with the lady in front of me, I was told to go back inside to the same rental desk. I spoke with the same lady who said he has to quit doing this, he knows how long it takes this computer. I received my sleeve and was sent back to the pavilion. I then proceeded to wait another 15 minutes (still one agent) to visit with the same guy, I think his name was Corey? I told him this issue, he proceeded to blame the girl inside and roll his eyes. A custodian then walked by picking up garbage and asked that I pick up the garbage around the window to give to the custodian. As was in professional dress and without gloves, I declined. Corey then said wow and rolled his eyes again. When I dropped the car off today, I was overcharged $30, but declined to visit with Corey again. I was afraid that he might roll his eyes at me or I would miss my flight (Again, 1 agent, 20 min wait).
