Groovy auto is a fantastic auto shop that I recommend to all my friends and anyone looking for honest, good work on a car. They are not only efficient and fast with car repairs but they always make me feel welcome, explain whats going on, and have even helped out a few times when they absolutely didnt need to - like fixing my tire pressure or giving me a second opinion when a dealership tried to swindle me into an overpriced, unnecessary repair. They run a great business and I take my car here for every repair needed. Car-related repairs or issues can make me nervous but the staff at Groovy Auto always treat me super well and deal honestly with me. Im grateful for all their help and wont take my car anywhere else.
Groovy Automotive is AMAZING! I am a girl in her early 20s who frankly hates having to deal with anything car related. Before my experience at Groovy, I felt like every place I went to in ATX would try to scam me because I was a young woman. Recently a car side swiped me downtown and busted my headlight while leaving a wicked mark on the front of my car. My dad called a previous automotive shop and received a super overpriced quote for the repairs. In a desperate measure, I took my car to Groovy just to see what they would do. They were super professional, talked to me like a human, answered all of my dads typical parental car questions over the phone, gave us a super reasonable price for the repairs, and had my car fixed and detailed the same day I took it in. Plus, they gave me a ride so I wouldnt have to pay for an Uber! Jim was so great to work with and made the entire experience enjoyable. I will ALWAYS recommend them to anyone! (Before and after photos posted)
My experience with Groovy Automotive with the assistance of Frank Rodriguez was very excellent. I had brought in my 1974 Oldsmobile 98 for some work to done. They had changed out my radiator and radiator hoses upper and lower. Changed out my brake system new brakes rotors and brake calibers. New suspension shocks. They also changed out the spark plugs and did a full tuneup on my vehicle. Changed out the transmission filter. They did a awesome job they are very knowledgeable at what they do and answered every question I had for them. They fixed my vehicle in a timely manner and affordable for me. They worked with me on parts and labor. Frank Rodriguez was very helpful and friendly found all parts for my vehicle. If you have a classic car and looking for work to be done i highly recommend Groovy Automotive to anyone and ask for Frank Rodriguez
My truck started making a terrible noise on I35 so I pulled off and tried to find a place to get it looked at. The first place I stopped turned me away because they were too busy and said they could not look at it for a few days! I started driving to another auto repair shop nearby from my map but did not think I was going to make it. As I was turning the last corner, I saw Groovy Automotive and there were cars and trucks parked everywhere and I could hardly pull into the lot. I walked in and was greeted very nicely by Jim. I told him about my truck and he told me it would be 45 minutes to get it looked at. I went across the street for coffee and waited. About 30 minutes later, he called to give me the bad news, how much and that the part was 3-4 days out. I walked back to the Groovy to pay them a deposit and then go rent a truck. But when I got there, Jim told me that he found the part somewhere else and they were bringing it to him. Then said they would fix my truck by 6PM no matter what! I was relieved and happy. Around 5:30, my truck was ready! Jim was awesome and the whole crew was awesome! I have never had such a great experience at an auto repair shop, so I had to post this review! Thank you, Groovy Automotive and thank you, Jim for a service and a great experience on a not so great day!
Jim is great to work with. He already knows what I need as far as our vehicles go. I appreciate that.
My experience with this shop was great. They didn’t try to make me get more work done than I needed. I took my car in for brake pads replacement and they said just the front ones needed to be replaced, rear ones were good. They could’ve said all 4 pads needed to be replaced and I would’ve said go right ahead. So the honesty with them was great. Jim provided excellent customer service. He even matched the price of a Groupon voucher for me without having to buy the voucher. So I’m happy I went here for their services. They also offer a shuttle service (not sure how far) if a vehicle will take awhile for whatever work is being done. Thanks again Jim. I will definitely recommend you to anybody looking for car maintenance.
Jim helped me get my 1987 samurai up and running with a new carborator, brake fluid lines and a power adapter installed. He was communicative and kept me updated throughout the process. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone.
The plastic liner under my car had been ripped apart by road debris and was dragging badly. It had come loose several times before so I was more than ready to just toss it. I came in ready to leave my car for the day but the guys at Groovy had me on my way in 15 minutes, no charge! Thanks Groovy!
I 100% recommend this place! The service is top notch, courteous, professional and the “willing to help” atmosphere is incredible. I had the pleasure of working with Chris and he was soooo kind and so happily to help me. I will come here from now on for all my vehicle needs that they can perform!
Theses guys are the best. No appointment needed. I needed new brakes. Jim the manager ( that has a voice like Sam Elliot) quoted a price for the front and rear and advised “if needed” cost to turn the rotary. Very up front and honest. Gave me an estimate of time to complete job. SS promised, called with updates and costs. Then called me when the car was ready. You do not get this service at chain repair shops. I’ve always supported local businesses. And will support Groovey Automotive. I’m coming back for my next oil change. I feel confident they will take care of my Lexus not just change the oil. Sorry Jiffy. There guys are the best.
Great experience! We were worried about possibly getting ripped off and they were incredibly fair. Got everything taken care of at very little cost.
Broooo! The best oil change service I have ever received hands down! Good Genuine nice people. Will definitely be back! Luna was the man!
They quoted one price and kept going up lied about the time frame it would be ready and my check engine light came up 1 day after i got it back i do not recommend this place to anyone they wasted my time and money
The gentlemen that work as service advisors / techs here, are very much a part of the Old Austin whose passing is so frequently mourned around these parts.I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. Expectations were met, and exceeded. They were able to quickly diagnose, address, and repair the issues that I was experiencing with my truck, and they treated me very well.Go here. Dont go anywhere else. These guys are the real deal.
The mechanics are easy on the eyes and they do their job well!
Yesterday I had 4 wheels of tire replacement and I was satisfied with it AT LEAST ON THAT DAY. But just on the next day, when I was driving on the road, a cover of a rim of the replaced tires got dropped away from my car. I even didnt think it was from my car, since I just had a new tire replacement a day before. Anyway, after losing the cover of a wheel rim, I went to groovy to ask about this happening. And the owner said it is not our responsibility to care of the wheel trim condition, even though he detached the covers to replace my tires and attached them again. Excuse me, you were the only one who touched my tires!! Anyway, as a customer, and according to the general clues, certainly I could guess the dropped cover happened due to a careless tire replacement by the engineer, since such ridiculous thing never happened before in my driving experience. But the owners attitude was very stubborn and keep saying that we are very professional and always doublecheck for their repair so such mistake wont happen ever in his career. How can there be perfect repair in this world? They are also human beings who could make a mistake. I was very very disappointed with their attitude and the feedback for such ridiculous issue on my tire.PLEASE BE PROFESSIONAL NOT ONLY FOR YOUR WORK BUT ALSO FOR YOUR RESPONSIBILITY .
In and out easy peasy. Groovy Automotive is the best for an oil change!
My car was stolen off their lot and their cameras do not work! I dropped my car off to get an alignment. I was not able to pick up before they closed. Tammy told me they could leave the keys out in a safe spot, and that no one would know. She put the keys in a CLEAR box by the door. Tim, the store manager said they do this for a lot of customers and never had any issues. After the police were called, I never received a follow up from the business. Tim said the cameras were shut off for a remodel, but nothing indicated a remodel going on. The car was recovered. I had to pay $300 to get a new key. I called Tim and asked if they would be okay splitting that cost. His first response was to call my insurance. He then said he would ask the owner and would call me back. He never called me back. I had to call him three days later. At the point, he said he may have misdialed my number because he left a voicemail. If you think they cared about this stressful situation for me, he would have doubled check the number or try again the following day. Their website talks about customer service. Yeah right. Time declined to pay half.( I was only asking for half of the $300 ) He declined because he said it was my fault I did not pick up the car sooner. WOW. He also said they leave keys out all the time. WITH NO CAMERAS working. He would not give me the owners name or contact, and basically said to email their customer service email and good luck hearing back from the owners. 4 days into this ordeal, and no one from Groovy has called me to offer help, an apology, or just follow up. Tim said he called the police and if I had questions, talk to them. Pass on this place and find a shop that honors their cultural statement on their own website about customer service. Also did I mention their cameras dont work and they leave keys out in a CLEAR BOX.
I got a Groupon for an alignment. I had never heard of the place but thought I would try them out. Everyone from the woman working the front desk to the mechanic was very nice and friendly. They got me in right away and worked swiftly. My car feels better. THANK YOU!
Dude....this place rules. Stop in and let Tammy Bittner put a smile on your face, as she assures you that their team babied your 2-Scoot, or will baby it. They repair my employers Mercedes Sprinter, which i drive, and i can honestly say they take care of your every concern. Im sure groovy, wont be the last great description you give of their services!
The reason this is a 2 star review is because to do something as simple as changing the oil, they said it would take them 1.5 hours at first. Fair enough, cause they need a fresh pair of hands. But they kept extending and prolonging it and we got the card 5 hours later. They said it would have been ready in 30 minutes when we called. We came, and we were waiting no one updated us. 30 minutes later they tell us, oh just another 45 minutes or so and I’m like ‘what?!’ They ended up taking 5 hours or so to change the oil and the worst thing is if they they kept saying ‘just 30 minutes’ and prolonging it. Just say it’ll take you X amount of hours to change the oil cause probably your mechanics are busy and that’s fine. Jesus Christ. Just be honest about it.
Disappointing! I had an appointment for 8am, drove there 30 minutes to be there and have the services done and even with the appointment I was told that the car would not be ready until the evening (arrives on time for my appointment). I was told the services would take 2 hours but they were full already with cars in front of me, so what’s the point of making an appointment if they will treat it as walk-in? NOT NICE! so I preferred to walk out and look somewhere else (Precision AutoCare is a great option with great service).
I love the guys here at Groovy Lube. They work hard to squeeze me in and they are always busy which is a great sign. Also, this location thinks ahead with the work they do and they break down the info about car maintenance so that I feel great knowing that my car is being well maintained for today and future stuff. I trust these guys and that’s the best part.
I went in for a re-alignment and found out that my tires, that I knew were in bad condition, were in really bad condition- all four. I wasnt ready/expecting to make such a large purchase, nor was I going to be able to wait 3 days for the tires I requested to be ordered and mounted. Thankfully, Groovy Automotive worked with my time and money cruch, and gave me a quote on tires that matched initial choice- only with better tires! Very happy with the service and overall accommodating nature of Groovy Automotive. My ride feels so much better, and I will definitely be coming back for future Automotive care.
I’ve been to groovy lube about a half-dozen times now and they’ve always been awesome. They always greet me with a positive attitude and a smile, get me in-and-out in 15-20 mins (only longer when I come during a time that is always predictably busy), and take care of my cars. They have a good deal on Groupon and I love supporting a local business. Please support them with your business!
Jim is my dude... They charged me right. Love them cats... Im rolling in my ride now. Getting the rest done very soon gotta budget though...
In and out in a jiffy Zaza
Jim is a good person. Knowledgeable and kind. The techs Tom, Ray, Kevin knows what they diagnose and fixes it right.
Great service! After many phone calls trying to get a flat tire figured out (nightmare on my end), they stayed late to make sure I was able to drive away rather than making me wait until the next day. They identified how many issues I was having on my end and truly went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of.
Groovy automotive, is by far the best place to get your car fixed if you want it done right !! They have the best mechanics, just to name one of many, Kevin is always the go to guy !!
Ive been going to Groovy Automotive on Red River for many years now and theyve always done great work. And they provide a solid warranty which Ive never needed to call on until today. I recently had some pretty major repairs done at Groovy and everything was going well until a part failed on the system they had repaired. I was worried I wasnt going to be covered. Ive been to OTHER shops that have tried to side step their warranties or find some loophole. NOT Groovy. They stood by their work and covered the repairs free of charge. Groovy KNOWS that treating a loyal customer well and with respect is just good business. Bring your vehicle to Groovy and leave confident knowing that theyll do professional work at competitive prices. Drive away knowing that Groovy takes care of their customers, stands by their work, and honors their word.
Great mechanics and they make getting a rental car very convenient. Car repairs were finished when promised.
Should have never returned to the Lamar locationThey dont Listen!!
Amazing staff, great prices, great experience!!!! love love love this place only place I take my cars! Thanks Groovy Automotive!!!
Update: Tammy is my home girl. She helped me fix ALL the problems on a rainy Saturday, and did it quickly and kindly. Groovy will be my car-to place always!Update: This place NEVER lets me down. Tom and Kevin are the best humans— smart, thoughtful, and efficient. Figured out a tough diagnosis then helped me figure out it was under warranty with Honda.Tim and his team are my neighborhood go-to! They are kind, efficient, and, best of all, they’ll never try to sell you something you don’t need. These guys keep a board in their lobby that is routinely updated to show their labor costs as compared with competitors (both shops and dealerships)— still the lowest!
I waited a hour to get the state inspection just to find out that their system was down. I feel like I couldve been updated or told what was going on. After an hour I asked for an update just to be given my keys and directions to another location.
Always good service with friendly conversation. Dana was especially awesome!
Got charged $75 for an oil change when I was told over the phone it would be $38 plus any additional quarts of oil they used. The people involved were nice but there was a major lack of clarity. Not sure if it was done on purpose or if it was accidental but Ill never stop by there again.
Took longer to get my car back than expected, but people were nice and the price was fair.
( NOT RECOMMENDED ). they Damaged my car by lifting it without professionalism, after i spend a lot of money and effort to keep my car in a good shape i am soo upset .please dont give people number and tell them that you are sorry . And call you to solve the problem ..because people dont have time to fix your damage. its better to be safe than sorry, plus the price are very high.
Just trying to offset some of the bad reviews. not to say they are fake or anything like that. but it needs to be known that Groovy has changed management for a good while now and the new guys are top notch. They work fast, and really know their stuff. I go there to get my car fixed and I also learn a lot more about my car.GREAT WORK GUYS!
My truck had ran hot while my son was driving it. I told him to take it to the nearest automotive shop, so he took it to Groovy Automotive. Well, they called my husband stating that the engine was blown and it would be $5000.00 for a used engine. Im happy that I decided to get a second opinion! I had the truck towed to San Antonio to let my mechanic look at it, and the only thing that my truck needed was a new cooling fan. The cooling fan had went out which caused for my truck to overheat. So instead of paying $5000, my repairs came out to $250.00. Im happy I followed my first mind!
Initially thought they did good work until I went to pick my car up and saw where they used my small 4 door sedan (with light tan interior) to haul around the four tires they recommended I buy thru them. Was actually planning to bring my Jeep to them to have service as well but definitely not going back to them now!
Although the mechanic was skilled and friendly, I took my car here to be fixed, they replaced a few transmission cooling lines for $700, the next day I couldnt drive it because all the dash lights were flashing and it was overheating with no first gear. I take it back in to check, and they say I need a new transmission. So the customer service is severely lacking in my opinion. Why would allow me to spend $700 on transmission lines to a transmission that isnt going to work anymore??? The way I see it .. I brought my car in because something was wrong and they said they could fix it. They should have advised me prior to doing the work and taking my money that my car would still be useless after spending $700... But for an additional $6K they could put in a transmission for me...
Took my vehicle today for a diagnostic and the customer service was excellent! The mechanics were excellent! Never had such a great experience with automotive service before. I definitely recommend this place to anyone having car problems. They explain everything to the last details and help you the best way they can! I am happy and satisfied customer! Thank you Rolando on behalf of my husband Jose Alvarez and myself, Martha L. Alvarez
Tim was very nice to me and gave me some charity work and free labor! And it didnt take a long time! They have fresh coffee, cool stickers, and community event flyers.
They are very good at what they do. The only issue is that they have the address incorrectly on their Groupon deal, which is very frustrating! Please be sure to update the address as you are not on Guadalupe but on 41st street. It’s very confusing to try to find the location on Guadalupe when you are some place else which is not exactly next door.
Really enjoyed my experience at the Guadalupe location.
Horrible dishonset shop. I went there with a groupon for an alignment. After leaving my car I receive a call saying the alignment could not be done and I would need almost $900 worth or work in order to get the alignment done. After I got my uncle involved the shop admitted one of the repairs was not mandatory (cv axle) to get an alignment but was recommended. The shop swore I needed outer tie rods in order to have the alignment done as well. I went and got my car. After taking it to not one but three other mechanics every single one stated there is absolutely nothing wrong with my tie rods and there is not any play in them at all. I also took it to a tire shop because I was already aware I needed two new front tires. Come to find out I dont even need an alignment all I needed was two new tires and the recommended repair of an axle. If they would of just been honest instead of decitful trying to steal my money for repairs that do not need to be done at all. I wold have been a loyal costumer for years to come. Now I will be warning everyone about this shop. I only gave one star because I have to to post this review.
Great people, awesome service, fast repair and amazing work. Will definitely use in the future 6 stars
I have done business here for years and their overall quality and service has been excellent
They act like your friend and assure you they are a low cost option. I just wanted new brake pads (went in and told them I specifically only wanted pads) and they quoted me at $750. I tried to go back that evening and get my car back but the manager on the phone told me they took my tires off and didnt put them back on before they closed up shop. So I had to wait the next day. They waited until I was about to come into the shop to call me and say I owed them $60 in diagnostics even though I had already told them the service and only wanted an estimate. i was NOT told of any fee at all. The manager at the counter told me that he knows his employees and basically insinuated I was lying. Do not go here, shady and untrustworthy. Im out $60 and literally all they did was set my car up on a stand overnight to air without wheels. Dont even bother trying to voice your concerns to the manager, he will talk over you and cut you off the moment you say something that upsets him. Hes also under the impression his store has nothing below a 5 star review, so cheers, man, I hope youre reading this.
Only giving 1 star because zero is not an option. They didnt fix my brakes correctly. They still squeak! Avoid at all costs! I have been a loyal customer since 2008 but no more!
Great service. Took my car in and later that day I was able to drive it home.
Ive come to this groovy lube a few times now, and every time I leave with some gripe. Today I needed a very simple repair, but was billed for a full hour of labor despite the picking my car up less than an hour after I dropped it off. I was on a time constrain so arguing the price wasnt an option. I would recommend you take your car elsewhere.
NOT SO GROOVY. I went here to replace my windshield motor ($400 replacement). When I went to pick up my car, the wipers were resting above my line of vision and I asked for them to be adjusted to the correct position. After the mechanic adjusted the wipers, I noticed a small crack in the windshield that the mechanic agreed had not been their just moments ago.The mechanic called for his manager who became belligerent and refused to accept responsibility for the crack. Now I am sitting in my car looking out a cracked windshield and facing a $265 replacement.
To start off with, I have a truck and yes it’s a big and kinda loud of a truck as you would think cuz I’m a truck guy. I took my truck in for a alinement I got off Groupon which I thought was steal at first then Realize why it was so cheap, to try to get you into the door to upcharge you for “work” that needs to be “done”. Over all I had to get a stud and lug replaced and my ticket was going to come out to $80 (which I a rip off to start off with) as they finished that work for the repair or replacement the worker that was working on my truck began to back on my truck out the garage to “test drive” it. The worker then began to rev my engine in the lot then proceeded to take off in my truck and gun it down red river being reckless, I know my truck, you really have to have your foot all the way down to get it as loud as he did. I instantly went off and asked the manager why he did that and how so unnecessary all that was. The manager then began to tell me “he never does this, he does that to his car but not to customers” which I know is a big lie. She did call the District manager Jim, the employee was suspended and written up for the incident but that was not enough. A guy like that should not be allowed to work around people’s cars that they spent there hard working money on. Manager or DM never gave me his name but he was a kinda tall white fellow, few tattoos with a short hair. Do not let this man “test drive” your Vehicle, I’m sure this wasn’t his first or last time he drives someone’s vehicle that wreckless, this is probably just the first time he got caught by the customer cuz I had no way home so I had to wait in the waiting room.
I was honestly kind of sketched out about coming here after reading some of the reviews and after calling. So I had recently got into a fender bender and needed an alignment. Groupon had a good deal $55 for an alignment and tire rotation. Well, I called and tried to set up an appointment, I have a long commute so I was hoping my car would be done that day. Unfortunately you have to drop it off, it’s first come first serve so that was the only downside, but the guy working the front was polite and informed me my truck would be done first on Saturday morning. Dropped my car off Friday evening and it was done Saturday morning. They did a great job and I’m pretty satisfied with their work and customer service.
Bought a 4 wheels alignment from groupon, the appointment took 1 week, drove by a couple times, nobody was there, I guess thats what you should expect when you are using a coupon. came at 7 am, told me would be ready by 430 PM, then I needed the car sooner for some work, then they said once the coupon is redeem, there is no way I can push the appointment.Thats ok, just to let you guys know, dont waste your money with them.
Nope nope nope.I had a groupon for a tire rotation, alignment and few other basic maintenance items. Reviews seemed ok so I spent the $50.Shoulda known better because I get a call from them a few hours later that my tie rods are bent and stabilizers are cracked. Quoted me nearly $600 with labor at around $120/hour and costs for parts incredibly inflated. Girl please. There was also a strange noise and wobble that wasnt there before.Took it to another shop and paid market rate for an alignment. Magically, my tie rods were unbent and it was completed in less than an hour. Wobble gone.I suspect with all the more naive college kids around they sustain themselves by taking advantage of customers. Avoid at all costs.Unethical. Unorganized. Unbelievable.
These guys shoot you straight.... Truth aint pretty sometimes. Ill return for estimates in the future.
1. There are 3 Groovy auto repair shop in Austin. I called N Lamar Branch to make appointment for my wheel alignment Groupan deal and there was no one answering. I drive there and found out they sold that branch long time ago and no body care to notify google map about that.2. I drive to Guadalupe Branch and they told me why you came here for alignment, we dont have any wheel alignment and we just have lube services.3. Again I called last branch (Red River) to make appointment but guess what? the phone number was wrong. Again I drive there and told them to change your phone number in google map. They said we knew it is wrong number but we wont pay to google to change it. Anyway, they said no appointment needed but they refuse to accept me and said you need to come between 7-9 am in morning only.4. I went 7 am in morning next day and they take my Groupan deal but when I went to pick up my car, they said we couldnt do alignment since you didnt have new tires and one other technical issue. They easily could say this in morning when they take the car but they want to use my Groupan deal more than serving customer. So Dont even bother to purchase any deal from Groupan or going down to this store.
The worst customer service. Says they take appointments but when you make an appointment with an email verification you get there they rudely say they are first come first serve. Even though I came from far during my lunch to make this appt. Staff is rude. Had to go to other location where said 20 min but was over a hour. Couldnt even figure out how to reset gauge. Had to go somewhere else.
Knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Great people and showed they cared about my well-being in regards to the vehicle. (Safety, etc.)
Phone number never works or tries to make you do a survey. I question whether this is even a legitimate place of business. I have been trying to reach them multiple times over the past month.
This company is SHADY AF! BEWARE BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Dont even get a quote from them or they will charge you. My boyfriends car was breaking down and so he took it to Groovy to get a quote and they tried to quote him $800 on a $50 part which he is going to install himself. They NEVER told him it would be a $60 fee to SIMPLY QUOTE the issue. They held his key until he paid. It is one thing if you say you charge a fee to quote (most places dont, they did because he decided not to do business with them THANK GOD). The lady at the front desk, Tammy Bittner lied to his face and tried to say she quoted him and TRUST me he would remember that, he is very good with his finances and weighing out his options when it comes to stuff like this. This process was extremely unprofessional and we will never do business with Groovy Automotive nor recommend them to anyone.
I don’t usually complain but man they upcharge. They were trying to charge me over 350 dollars to replace my car battery and then another hundred or so for a labor fee... anyways I went to firestone instead and it was 160 for everything
I think this company has embraced the Austin vibe and presents itself very well. The state inspection service was acceptable and convenient. My only gripe is that the technician made a mess on my dashboard removing the old sticker, but failed to clean it up.
Thx God I did not go there, I went to Hais auto save time and money ...do not get fooled by groupon for groovy auto, they will F you over ...
Very friendly staff! Owner and staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help me and my family out! Very grateful! Will be back! ❤
Its a good shop, and Ive had several repairs done here since its just down the road.. on the downside, its very overpriced. However, seems like they run a tight ship, and they get the job done.
They fix the problem fairly quickly 😊
They messed up and refuse to admit it. Im never going back there, and you shouldnt either.I went in for a brake job because my front brakes were squeaking every now and then (not much at all). They eventually quoted me more that $700, saying that the rear brake parts were very worn out, so I told them Id do it myself. I paid $53 for a brake inspection. On the receipt is a note saying that the rear brakes are missing parts and its unsafe to drive. As soon as I drive out of the lot, the rear driver side is making a grinding noise that wasnt there before. I take it home and take it apart. No parts are missing except for a bit of the brake shoe thats broken off. Whats really wrong is that the brake shoe is bent out of shape and was pushing against the front of the brake drum. I bring it back and ask for my $53 back. They tell me that they put that note on my receipt because a pin was missing, and when they took off the drum everything fell apart. Well OF COURSE! They pulled on it so hard without first adjusting the brakes shoes in that they (1) broke a piece off of the brake shoe, (2) broke a weld and bent the brake shoe out of shape, and (3) probably sent that pin flying across their garage! They act like that note absolves them from any screw up. In fact they replaced the pin that they probably lost, so there were no missing parts when I got it back, and the real problem that I should have been told about was never mentioned in person or in writing. To top all that off, they tried to charge me an extra $500 for them to fix the problem that they created by not doing the job properly and adjusting the brakes before taking off the drum.
Didnt even go there, Just the phone call for quote turned me off, very sad, they wont have my business. They just wanted to charge me diagnostic, plus double the price parts, Labor was actually ok, but Tim said if it didnt work he would charge me again to fix it. all shady sounding. I just had questions and Tim wanted nothing to do with it or my business.
Came here for an oil change. Told me it would take about an hour. Went over to the Freebirds across the street and ate lunch. Got a call after 45 minutes saying they were done and offering to change some air filters (I declined in favor of doing that myself). Picked my car up with no problems. Probably will use them again for oil changes after mediocre experiences elsewhere.
Very long waitsGet there when they open if you need anythingNice staff
TL;DR - false advertising and lying.I bought a Groupon for alignment because the fine print said an appointment was required. With my schedule, I need appointments, not first come, first serve.Upon calling Groovy to set up an appointment, they said they dont do appointments and that Groupon added the appointment requirement, but to get the alignment Id have to drop off my car between 7-9am. That doesnt work for me.Fortunately I was able to contact Groupon and get a refund, but I also asked about the fine print and requirements. Groupon said the merchant chooses what to put for instructions, since its the merchants interface.
Great work fast service.
Did a good job on a 96 jeep. Lots of discounts. Friendly. Gave me a ride back home and picked me up when my car was ready.
Never again! They put on an oil filter that did not fit and caused a leak that subsequently damaged my drive belt before I knew what was going on.
Phones not working today. lamar location never answered.
Kevin Black really knows his stuff
Very friendly and professional staff - these guys really know what theyre doing. I went in for a smog check and they got me in and out of there in no time.
We had our suv fixed by someone who had his own shop. He took soo freaki long to fix it. never again But a week later our suv was acting up. So we took it to Groovy and they did wonderful job. Fixing the problem. Plus affordable. Im actually going back this week to get my lights and inspection done.
I went into groovy lube for an inspection for a used car i had recently bought...i had previously checked the car that everything was working and wudnt have any trouble passing inspection...but during the inspection they said it failed because my 3rd brake light was out, and that new texas law require it work to pass, i was surprised but thot maybe it did need to be replaced..they qouted me 175.00 for the light..but i decided to look for a better deal elsewhere...i went straight home to tell my wife, but she says to check again..AND THE LIGHT WORKED!! I went rt back to the shop, explained that i was just there and that my light does work and need to be reinspected...the guy that inspected my car was in the office at the time and gave me the most aggressive stare and tone when i checked those light they didnt work!!...a manager stepped out with me and saw the lights did work...after a new person reinspected my car and passed it,i went into the office to get my keys and paperwork...i expected an apology or at least an im glad we got that straightened out for u ...not even a thank u..the guy behind the counter just nodded in the direction of my keys...petiful. i work in the area and will let everyone now how things are run there..
I usually dont write reviews but I really wanted to write one for these guys. I hated this place after I got to know the actual cost of the repairs on my car. They told me it will take 5 hours to repair my car and actually I got it done in 2 hours. Even the price of the spare parts was inflated.Although I will give them credit of identifying the problem correctly. But thats their job. Isnt it?!
Great service with honest employees! They dont try and sell you something you dont need.
Whoever answered the phone should probably stick to cleaning the restrooms. The person acted as if answering the phone was the biggest burden in his career. When I requested alil info regarding prices for oil changes, the guy told me to go to another establishment then hung up before I could finish my inquiry.
Friendly staff.Only issue is that everything takes very long.
Tried charging us $500 to change our battery. Forget these crooks.
This place rocked my socks off!I had a Groupon for an oil change (since it is the automotive center and not the lube center, youll need to make an appointment) and was extremely pleased with the service....for several reasons...1. I asked if they could replace the windshield wiper and they said sure. When my car was ready they handed me my service papers and sent me on my way. On the ride home I realized I never paid for the windshield wiper, went back to pay for it, they said to not worry about :)2. I had 2 oil leaks and was low on brake fluid. They topped off my brake fluid and informed me of the possible cause ----> the thinner the brake pad, the more brake fluid it requires--- and even drew out a small picture as an example. They also provided estimates for the 2 oil leaks if I wanted to fix them in the future. The guy even recommended fixing the cheapest one first bc he said it was more important. So, I feel as if that means they arent scamming you out of money.3. I had a headlight out and I didnt even realize until later that night, when my friend pointed it out, it was MAGICALLY working. I dont know if they replaced a bulb or circuits?? I dont know, but they did something bc it worked after the oil change.4. A somewhat stupid point, but there was a bee swarming around me in the waiting area and the guy came around and killed it. CUSTOMER SERVICE to the maxxx.Too long to read?Simple review: the place did a great job, they were extremely helpful, and provided top notch customer service. Would highly recommend :)
Very very bad service I went thier for inspection the manager was. Very rude not professional at all he told me came back at 4 30 and I came back he told with very bad attitude came tomorrow with no sorry or any thing I asked him for his boss number and he refused its really bad service
Dont do it. Theyll try to screw you if they can.My window regulator broke on my car, window could roll down but not up. Not fun in December. As soon as I found out, took it here around 4:00 pm. They didnt quote me and said theyd have to keep it overnight or bring it in the morning to look at it (they close at 6). Seeing as how I dont have a nice garage to put it in, they kept it. Quoted me the next morning for THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS, which is WAY more than that should cost to fix, even in the worst case scenario. Mustve thought they could charge whatever they wanted because I left it there overnight. I said screw that and took it to Jukes Automotive on East 7th. Even with a $50 diagnostic fee from Groovey, I STILL came out ahead by $50 at Jukes.Moral of the story, dont do it. Theyll try to screw you if they can.
I wish I had read the reviews before I came here, those sleeze balls charged over $200.00 for no work at all just a diagnostic when I specifically said I needed the work done. After my husband refused to pay nearly $100 an hour to fit a fule valve leak, I talked to the man who had checked me in and explained to him (probably not very nicely) how to be a decent human being to his customers and how explaining such charges to said customer is not just common courtesy, its his job. Long story short, once I had ridden my self of the nasty headache I got from speaking to this delightful man, my husband and I were driving home and had to make a sudden lane swicth on I35 for a smoking car that was slowly merging off the highway. Little did we know they had left a tool on our hood that both of us didnt see when stepping into our car, it went flying to the side of our windshield on the passenger side, chipped our windshield and bounced off the side of our car leaving a very charming dent on the fender. So not only did we get ripped off for $200 from the actual auto shop, now we have to replace our windshield and go to a body shop for the fender. I am amazed this place is still in business... and to the people working at this fine establishment who may read this review, you can probably find your tool on the side of I35 headed south bound, sorry I didnt feel the need to retrieve it for you. For all of you who who grace this place with your car, be warned.
Very cool honest group of men.
Such grimly & quick service!! I come here for all my car needs
Seems like a groovy place until they try to rip you off with a cabin air filter that isn’t even yours and suggest changing it.
Thanks God for automotive they got my car fixed.
This place is a hassle to deal with 20 lug nuts $138.00 ????
