Terrible wifi
I pay for 400mbps internet, but even with a hardwired connection and only one device on the network I am lucky to top out at a third of that. Im consistently getting the speeds of the service they offer at a lower tier, but Im certainly paying for a lot more than what Im getting. In addition to that, Ive experienced outages entirely that will last for considerable periods of time, and during that time I cant even use the service Im still expected to pay 80 dollars a month. This company is the prime example of what happens when not enough regulations are put into place. They and Frontier are the only real services offered in Athens, so they know they can get away with a mediocre job.
The WiFi is alright but the customer service is the worst I have ever had to deal with. They lie and they do not help and have heard very similar things from multiple people. I’m disgusted!
Cant login online to pay my bills because the website doesnt work and cant pay over the phone because their robot cant understand a single thing said to it. always have to talk to rep which they charge you more for.get any other provider then spectrum

Don’t expect this company to do anything but force you into paying higher prices for terrible service by trying to scare you into believing they’re the best thing out there. They don’t care about wasting your time, giving you incorrect information on your account, giving you wrong equipment and making you drive around to replace it. Friendly, competent counter clerks. Translation: Even if there is a line it moves pretty fast. I went in to drop off a modem, and as luck would have it 3 people literally went through the door ahead of me. I thought, Im gonna wait here 15-20 but I was in and out in 10. Not bad. I could only give it 4 stars because, well, its the cable company. Ha!
I don’t know why we even pay for cable or internet, because the internet is never working long enough for us stream the spectrum app. We constantly see a loading bar every 2 minutes when we are trying to watch TV. We pay extra for certain sports channels and can never watch. Unfortunately it’s the only provider offered in this area, or else we would’ve gotten rid of spectrum a long time ago. The technicians are great, spectrum Internet as a whole is just terrible.
Staff at the Athens location are always very friendly and helpful. 800 numbers not so much. The corporate numbers are just as bad as other mega conglomerates trying to get fees for nothing such as service tech visits when a tech had just installed everything brand new less than a month ago. Same Overpriced internet and tv that plagues the whole country. No other options for true high speed in this area.
Wifi is shotie, and the customer service is so bad that I could talk to someone who doesnt even share the same language and get more info.

The guy named Mike is highly biased. Please be sure that youll not get anything done if you are non-white. I have seen him providing VIP treatment to some customers (white) and then behaving downright condescending to others. I have stopped going to this outlet solely because of him. It used to be a very nice service center during time warner era.
Another day where the internet shuts off at a random hour the whole city of Stewart is experiencing issues with this service and if you go in and address the problem they give you the good ol’ it’s not our problem excuse. Absolutely the worst service out there, it really sucks because it’s this or Frontier there’s no other option. If I could give no stars I would because this is just sad.
Paying for 100mbps speeds. Getting 15mbps. My cell phone is faster and more reliable....
This company 1st off doesnt have any concept of time nor cares about anybody that does. 2nd has my 71 year old mothers credit ran twice & lied to her both times about pricing. 3rd deffinatly needs drug testing on especially field employees along with proper manners when entering customers homes!!
One of the guys working there is extremely rude. I think his name is Mike. If youre white, he will pay attention to you and help you. Otherwise, he wont even bother to look at you. It is a shame that Spectrum hires such racist people.
I’m not blaming the store in Athens for this but I couldn’t find an overall spectrum forum. I’m paying $105 for internet and it cuts out every other day. Paying for the 1 gig edition and I get 30 download and 0 up at least 3-4 times a week. This is dumb.

I ordered INTERNET SERVICE ONLY because I wanted to drop cable due to the purchase of a smart TV. So, they deliver it, I hook it up and it wont work....why?? Because will tells me that I need to have internet access through the cable!! If Im going to cancel cable...why do I need cable to have internet?! It all made absolutely no sense! If I wanted cable and internet both, I would go through my cable provider to get it!!! They advertise internet only, yet, tell you you have to have cable through them to get the internet. What a mess!!! So, I cancelled it and sent back my equipment because Im not dealing with liars or scammers.
Every street around me has service but not available at my residence what a joke and no one can give me a good reason why and or if I will have service in the future
The only reason I havent gone to AT&T is the Internet speed and the front desk guy Brian who remembers my address and looks for us deals without us even asking. Great guy!

I called last night to get the woman I take care of tv fixes. After 30 min the kid figures out whats wrong and Im supposed to get a call and a time in an hour. And hour passes and ill I get is a call saying the received the ticket and were working one it. Then nothing. I call today and am told there was no ticket even though I got the call. Wait the time she said to get a call back. Never get one so I call again. Im met with attitude and disrespect. I ask for a manager. After 10 minutes someone finally comes on the line. I explain for the 10th or more time that I still have yet to get a time. She says oh they are coming at this time. Well that time doesnt work. She also informed me that the time they gave was within the 24 he period. Well the period ends in 2 hrs and the time they are showing up isnt till tomorrow. Bad customer service and bad attitudes all around and service sucks. Dont waist your time. Go to another company.

So, I made a call on behalf of my grandparents who had 35 mbps when the standard package was 100 mbps. First they told me they were on a special plan and it would cost more to switch. Then after switching the plan they did not send the new cable boxes or modem. We waited 2 weeks and contacted them back (40 mins on phone), they advised they had input the information wrong and would send them right away. Two more weeks (1 month total) I called back (28 mins on phone) and they advised the exact same thing. Apparently the associate did not finish entering the proper codes, I can finish that for you and you will have them by the end of the week. I advised them to ship it to the store and I would pick it up the next business day. Also upgrading them saved $20 a month. This company is a joke and needs to be investigated by the BBB they are taking advantage of elderly people and those who dont know better.

Much like your typical bloated internet provider, Spectrums services will go down for no apparent reason because quality isnt important when theres no competition and they know youre going to pay an ungodly amount of money just to have the privilege to access the internet in a way that a lot of major cities do at no cost.In addition to that the provided router constantly disconnects and produces such awful wifi that my tablets and phone are simply hopeless to use.

The service is awful, the internet stops working for everyone in my community at random hours at least twice a day. It takes anywhere from two hours to five hours to come back on its ridiculous. And when you call to have it fixed they only reset your internet providing a temporary fix for a few weeks then its back to the bulls**t. The company never comes to check anything out like they say they will either. If I could Id give 0 stars for how bad this service is!
Mixed up apartment numbers of new tenant and cancelled my internet in order to start their service, then attempted to charge me a re-activation fee for their screw up. Also took talking to 4 different representatives before we figured out the problem they caused.
Subpar product and borderline rude customer service. Went in to exchange my router for a (hopefully) superior piece of equipment. I spoke to Brian during this transaction. He was polite but was constantly trying to sell me more product. He asked what I was using my internet for, asked about sports fans in the household, and even how I kept in contact with loved ones. I knew he was just trying to do his job, so I remained polite. It makes you lose all respect you have for a company when they fail to deliver an advertised product all while trying to sell you more garbage.
Absolutely horrible experience with this company. Ive had three different technicians come out to fix my internet, which keeps dropping every 5 minutes. The only one that actually got out of their vehicle was from Portsmith and up in Athens for move-in week. The local techs are utter garbage. My interent has still yet to be fixed and its going on 3 months. I wish I had any other option where I live because I hate giving Specturn my money.
The worst experience Ive ever had with any company since birth. Spent many hours on the phone setting up various appointments for which I was required to stay home from school/work, and they would miss the appointments every time. I think maybe by the 5th appointment day (and my 5th used vacation day for this purpose), they finally showed up and installed a new router. The new router also sucks. This is the only company available in the area. So I said forget this and ended up purchasing a better 4G mobile plan for Verizon and use that instead. Something needs to be done about TWC Athens. If this was how the company was run at the start, it would be an absolute failure.

The individual I dealt with in the Athens office is atrocious, one of the rudest individuals I have ever met. If it wasnt for the excellent internet and TV service I would have looked for another provider.
This company is useless.Internet seems to drop after midnight for no reason (3rd day in a row now)They have next to no customer service and a majority of the time their apps dont even work or you face constant issues.Speeds are always up and down and you dont get what you pay for.Wifi speeds are atrociously slow, too the point where I have to turn it off most of the time to actually get stuff to load on my phone
The rudest customer service workers since Straight Talk.. I was charged a hidden fee then hung up on.. And belittled by a snobby woman. Im returning my equipment and disconnecting. I would rather have no wifi than deal with this company a single day longer

Modem is garbage, their stated internet speeds are flat out lies, the count of channels includes numerous repeats of the same programming, and customer service is Kafkaesque. Only unethical legal and financial maneuvering to limit our choices keep this poop wagon on the road.
Moved to new house and Spectrum did not provide service at new location. I canceled service and Spectrum turned me into collections without even attempting to call or reach out to me to receive box back. I was a long time customer with Time Warner Cable(Spectrum) for about 8 years. Very poor communication skills and customer service.
The dude working the desk was very rude and uninformative. I was asking him simple questions about our appointment and he got noticeably irritated.
Trash. Internet is slow and goes down every 10 minutes. Support is unhelpful and they cant actually do anything.
