Wont service my bike because I wouldnt wear a useless mask when the box was rudely thrown in my face. Been going here for years, bought kids bike here, and paid thousands in service hours. There are other bike shops in the area that dont discriminate and go along with this nonsense. 99% still here.

Every time Ive gone into the store Ive come away satisfied. Prices are good and the staff are helpful. I used to go to Liberty but got tired of their ridiculous prices and elitist attitude. All I want is to keep my bike in good shape so I can keep riding, and Motion Makers does that without being condescending and expensive.

This shop is as good as they come. Came here to purchase my 89th bicycle in my 48yrs of cycling. I Would definitely recommend them to anyone who rides at any experience level.

28 May 2021 - I called to request assistance. I purchased a derailleur last week for the Tandem my wife and I always ride on holiday weekends, with the intention of installing and tweaking to our satisfaction. I discovered my cycle mechanical skills were not up to our expectation with calibrating the shifting, I needed help. Motion Makers had the staff and expertise, bringing our tandem to shifting proficiency today, Friday. Saving a holiday is priceless! Thank You. Now that we live in south Asheville, your my go-to for cycling solutions.

Highly recommend. More than helpful. They were more than helpful they took a few minutes out of their day to remove the cranks off in my bike and didnt even charge me highly recommend for older bikes and anyone who needs help.

These guys are awesome. I called and asked if I could do a contactless drop-off. The shop was able to accommodate my request and came out to get my bike from the back of my vehicle. They were able to repair my bike quickly and Cole called me as soon as it was done. I was also able to pay contactless as well. Everyone I talked to was accommodating, friendly and professional. I would highly recommend them.

This place is absolutely fantastic! Brought my bike in for a bottom bracket replacement and a few extra things. Customer service was top notch with updates about the status of my repair along the way. Friendly, fast, and reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back for any other needs I have!

Not only is this a really nice, clean bike shop, but the customer service is great as well. Im visiting Asheville to do a few days of road cycling and when I stopped in to pick up some bar tape, the guys behind the counter were really helpful identifying some of the better local routes - and they were right so far!

Love these guys! Derek and Joe S. took great care of me figuring out my mystery hub problem and getting me back on the dirt as quick as possible! Its clearly some busy times for bike repair shops but these guys took the time to make sure the bike was in overall good working order before returning and didnt rush through it to get to the next bike. Appreciated the text along the way keeping me informed and giving me options as well!

Friend purchased a bike here. He dented the rim and lost the tubeless seal so he called and spoke to someone on the phone who said they would take care of it while we waited. When we arrived, they said they were a week to ten days out for service. Disappointing that he was treated like this just a few days after spending several thousand dollars at the shop.

Dustin was a great. Even though they knew I just needed sizing because my brother runs a bike shop out of town, they helped me out and were just great guys. They have a great set up for Covid 19, just bring you out anything you want to try. I would definitely come here for future cycle needs.

I do not know what is going on in Asheville...I have been going here since Pro Bikes in W. Asheville closed many years ago. I realize the virus is disrupting but...1. 3 weeks ago I called...no one picked up.2. A couple of days later I called again...no one picked up.3. 2 weeks ago I sent an E mail describing the work I need done...No response.4. I happened to be in the area today so I stopped by to try and get an estimate. I know what work needs done. There is only 1 measurement that needs to be taken on the bike in order to work this estimate up. Was told I would have to leave the bike for about 4 hours. The measurement could have taken all of about 2 minutes!So for this reason, I am no longer a customer.The owner responded to me and was terrific. As they have done such good service in the past, I will be taking my bike in for the repairs.I apologize for losing my cool there and writing the bad review!

Wanted to go in an buy some stuff, but the store was closed and only doing curbside business. Confusing since the outlet stores were open. 1 star review because guy was kinda rude when I mentioned I wanted to buy a shop kit. Didnt even ask size or offer to help in any way.

These guys did a great job getting my bike ready for a big trip to British Columbia and always go out of their way to get me taken care of. One thing I appreciate about the shop is they have just about everything you need in stock versus always having to order something. They are also always very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Great experience buying my first bike in a long while from Motion Makers. They spent a lot of time answering my questions and are always helpful and happy to lend a hand when I go back for maintenance and accessories. I wasnt happy with the first bike I purchased from them bc I realized shortly after purchase that it just wasnt the right bike for me and they exchanged it no problem. Nice people, great bikes.

After trying two other stores with zero results, I returned to Motion Makers Bicycle Shop where Tim was so great.This shop is BY FAR the best shop Ive ever visited with super knowledgeable and helpful staffs and great mechanics. They have the best mechanics in the area, and they are adept at dealing with exotic things like titanium frames and gluing tubulars. If I dont have the time or a specific tool to do the work myself, this is the only shop I trust to do the work.

We have a recumbent trike that my disabled son uses to get around. It has an electric motor kit installed. When we needed help after the forks on the trike were bent, Motion Makers was able to fix the trike for us quickly and for a very fair price. We called several different bike shops in the area and Motion Makers was the only one willing to perform the work. Their customer service is fantastic and their work is very professional. I would highly recommend them.

Took a high end road bike in that required a complete build and they did it magnificently. I am now 2.5months post build and it is running like a dream, still. Great service all round from a great local bike shop.I have already referred customers to their and will continue to do so.

I really like the people in this shop, BUT, I only ride vintage bikes. When I asked about finding some parts, the mechanic told me any bike over five years old is not worth repairing. Bike technology has changed so much. Since my NEWEST bike is 25 years old, I guess I am SOL.Fortunately, I do almost all my repairs myself.

Went to see Johnny at Cherokee. We were in town and wanted to ride. He was very knowledgeable and offered to ride with us on one of the beat rides in town. Went to get some parts for my daughters bike and forgot my tools to wrench it myself. Brforw I know it, they had racked and tagged it and told me to get riding. This is by far one of the beat bike shops I have ever been too. Kid tested and wife approved. Thank you Johnny and crew. See you next year.

Pretty decent store. Good selection, and staff was fairly helpful. If you are looking for small parts, and its not in the front, then ask. They keep a lot of stuff in the back.

I was in Asheville for an annual cycling vacation, had a couple of needs arise, and visited Motion Makers. The service was top-notch, with a quick greeting at the door, friendly assistance, and a genuine appreciation for the purchases I made. Chris took the time to explain some good route options in the area we were staying, providing thorough detail. He even let me leave my bike in their care for a couple of hours while my friends bike was being repaired at MM, allowing us the chance to hit the Parkway for a bit and stray away from the car without fear of the bike being stolen while waiting for my friends bike to be ready. Ive been in a lot of shops during my cycling travels, and MM is among the very best anywhere.

New favorite! Ive bought bikes at 3 Asheville bike shops and Motion Makers has by far been the most helpful and professional. They are thorough, friendly, and patient. My boyfriend has also had his bike that he bought in Colorado worked on at Motion Makers and he was really happy with the mechanic - Sarah - who kept him updated with regular phone calls throughout the process. Plus isnt it great that they have a female mechanic? Motion Makers is my new favorite bike shop.

Nice bike shop with a big assortment of bikes, its seems like they prefer Specialized.Which I see as the high end bikes, so I dont usually come in to buy anything. It does look like theyre always busy and doing good though, whenever I happen to stop by.I personally go to other bike shops, that are closer to me.VHDs

I have never bought a bike from them but the mechanics are top notch. Tim seems to be my go to guy. The service folks handle easy repairs quickly and always provide advice without treating you like an idiot. I havve never had an issue with their service.

I was in this store yesterday to kill some time and also look for some items that are hard to find at most shops.I was greeted very well by a few employees which is a great thing.I continued to shop and was putting item after item on the counter,I then inquired about what kind of deal I could get on everything as I was making a hard decision on tires and was going to buy about 6 of them on top of tools,gloves,etc ..The sales guy I was talking to for the last 1/2 hour or so said they do not deal with people,full MSRP or nothing... seriously,lol.Well you know what,I put everything back that was not marked up and purchased a tool that was at the least more realistic price point.They could have gotten $500-600 out of me but I just bought 2 items and left.Now today as I write this I just left a local small bike shop with everything else I needed a very happy customer.If you want acceptable service but ZERO DEALS do not shop here,if you want acceptable service and want to pay crazy prices then shop here the choice is yours....my choice was very easy to walk out,lol.

There is no way I can say enough good things about this shop. first of all I was drooling over all of the great specialized and surly bikes. but the service was what made this shop special. Im a touring cyclist and I had some issues with a bb, as well as a sprocket on my rohloff. Kent the owner spent hours with me bringing the bike back to perfect condition. he also shared great routing advice and was just so incredibly helpful. One of the best bike shops Ive ever experienced. 10 stars

These folks are the best. Before buying a new full suspension mtn bike I went to quite a few area shops. The MM crew treated me with respect and hooked me up with a good deal on solid Specialized. Every time I go in theyre friendly, know what up and very helpful. Their customer service and expertise is the best in the AVL area.This weekend I had friends up from SC to ride and camp. One had a hard fall and snapped his derailleur. This could have ruined the weekend but we walked into the shop at 3pm and the mechanics and sales crew had us back on the trail by 5. I cant recommend them highly enough.

The sales associate that I tried to talk to was extremely unhelpful when I was trying to ask basic questions about biking. I was an easy customer, as I was ready to buy a bike, but the rudeness of the associate turned me off. I will be going elsewhere.

Answered all my questions and made it really easy to understand what Im looking at. After i shopped around and went to few other places i came back and got a bike my and her picked. Stopped in here last weekend on a trip to Asheville when I noticed there was something wrong with my wifes mountain bike. Not knowing what was wrong, I brought it into these guys and they fixed the issue in about 10 minutes and didnt charge me anything! Purchased some stuff while I was in there as their pricing was better on some equipment I had been eyeing up elsewhere. If Im ever in Asheville again and need anything cycling-related, Ill be going to these guys!

I’ve been mountain biking for 25 years and have bought a lot of bikes both online and in store. Simply put, buying from Motion Makers was better then any bike buying experience I’ve ever had by far.The new Stumpjumper caught my interest and though I try to shop local, the dealer in my town seemed unknowledgeable and a bit pushy. I drove 90 minutes to Charlotte and visited a shop that was full of “Cocky and too cool to be helpful shop bros” all to common in high volume shops. Finally, I decided to make the two hour trip to Asheville to check out Motion Makers and I’m so glad I did. I spoke with several members of their staff and found them all to be avid and accomplished Mountain Bikers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts who are as passionate about sharing the love of the sport as they are about riding. They weren’t pushy, yet were quick with advice clearly learned from years of riding. I know bikes, but these guys are mountain bike savants. They all seem to be gifted riders with miles of experience and are willing to share their knowledge in a friendly unpretentious manner.I bought a bike and unfortunately had some issues with shifting performance, the brakes, and wasn’t pleased with the weight. Not anyone’s fault, just turns out Sram NX isn’t my cup of tea. In a gesture unheard of in the industry, Ben and the guys offered to allow me to exchange my bike after nearly 30 days for a model with different components and a lighter weight frame. They gave me full credit for my exchange, and did so with the same helpful and friendly customer service they had provided during my initial purchase.I can’t recommend Motion Makers highly enough. Great guys, a clean well stocked shop, and some of my favorite bike brands. (Surly, Specialized, moots, Chromag just to name a few).

I was in Asheville one weekend to ride the BlueRidge Parkway, and these guys helped out in a pinch. New derailleur (no Roadlink in stock) for my 32t cassette. Friendly and personable with route suggestions. Im gonna stop in whenever Im in town to ride.

I was recently on vacation in Asheville and looking forward to riding all the trails it has to offer in the area. Day 1 of my vacation, I had a spoke and derail-er break on my Specialized StumpJumper. I found motion makers on Google and brought my bike in. Tim took a look at it immediately and gave me some options for repair. Tim and Motion Makers repaired the bike in 2 days and gave me a chance to get back on the trail. If that wasnt enough, Tim gave me some great trail recommendations. The Black Mountain and Drift Cove were some Rad rides. Big thanks to Tim and Motion Makers!

This is an awesome shop. The folks are passionate, they take great care of everyone and the inventory is deep. I am a huge Specialized fan but they carry other cool brands (GoPro, TriggerPoint, Pisgah Works, Club Ride) that I buy but dont find in a cycle shop. Plus, if they dont have what you are looking for, they will find a way to get it to you. The location is convenient, right off I-26 and just several hundred yards from the Blue Ridge Parkway.I would only add a lounge and/or patio, coffee and private road and MTB trails to BRP.
