This place is the best bike shop around! Their staff goes above and beyond to help you in anyway possible. I have used this shop for rentals, bike purchases, bike assembly, tune ups, advice/recommendations, etc. Yesterday, the bike staff (Sam and another guy) spent over an hour with me discussing my current mountain bike, my experiences mountain biking, and other mountain bike possibilities. They even altered the settings on my bike and let me try out different tire sizes just to see if they could make my bike a little more comfortable for me. I am just blown away by how friendly and helpful the staff always is! Thank you Asheville Bicycle Company for being the best all around bike shop!

During these times, the guys at Asheville Bicycle Co. are exceptionally busy but they always find time to identify and diagnose mechanical issues. If it’s a quick fix, they will take care of immediately! In my case, the gears weren’t shifting well. Camin took a look at it and fixed the issue - no charge! These guys know what they are doing and their service is exceptional! 5 stars

I rolled into town looking for a quick tune so I could continue my cross country mtb trip. Jet and Cayman were FANTASTIC techs! They squeezed me in and took great care of my bike. Thank you boys! Everyone in the shop is super friendly and the service was top notch. I’ll stop back in again for sure!

They helped me out as a total newbie. Got my hybrid bike here. They were the only ones who had a hybrid in my size at a decent price in town. Super nice staff and very helpful. Lots of accessories and bikes to choose from. They also have a cool maintenance shop in the back. Definitely recommend!

By far the best experience I have had at any bike shop. I was having issues with my rear shock where it was not properly fitting back in after removing it. After going to REI and them telling me it was my bottom bracket which made no sense, I decided to take the drive to Asheville Bicycle Company. Two days after dropping it off they had my bike ready to go and they did not even charge me for the repair! The mechanic was really knowledgeable, friendly and explained everything he did to fix it, so if it happens again I can fix it Definitely my new go to bike shop!

Not sure what to think about this bike shop. Lots of good feedback, so I assume for most people the experience is good. For us, we were looking to try a bike fit before buying and their website was showing the bike was in stock. Went in and was told the bike was already sold and wasnt available to try size. Was told the online site wasnt accurate as to whats available. Went home and checked a few days later and the bike was still on website and confirmed to be available.Not sure if theres something weird going on with tracking actual inventory vs online inventory or what, but we ended up getting better help at Lightning Cycles in Hickory and went home with a bike.

Fantastic experience all around - bought a bike through their website; great communication after the sale; drove down from Pennsylvania; Chad walked us through every aspect of the bike (Liv Intrigue E-Mountain bike); all of the employees were helpful and answered any of our questions (even ones we didnt know we needed to ask)!I highly recommend Asheville Bicycle Co - if I could rate them higher than 5 stars, I would!!

Amazing store, rent a bike, and service. I was in Asheville Bicycle Company in August 2019 and took in rent perfect AM/Marathon/Trail Bike Giant Anthem Advanced. It was new bike from test park Giant. Interesting bike, combination speed and grip, 110mm travel rear suspension and 130mm fork was good for NC trails. Friendly staff in store, support and best price for rent bike in Asheville and Black Mountain citys area. Thanks for your work guys!

Great service (would be an understatement)! I have visited most of the bike shops in Asheville at one point or another. Some are a lot of fun, some are a bit too serious, and some are just terrible. But, these guys are just right.Do yourself a favor and go here first. Seriously, I didnt get my bikes from them, but I would gladly drive the extra time (worth every...single...minute) every single time for my future service. Their quality of bike service and the quality of customer care is superb.

Great store and great staff. I called with a shifting issue with my bike and was told to bring it in and drop it off. I arrived at the store with the intention of dropping my bike off for a week but the staff immediately took my bike and fixed it within 15 minutes. While they were working on my bike I toured their shop along with their joint store Ski Country. Both stores are very clean with a lot of merchandise offered. These guys are on point and thoroughly know what they are doing. Highly recommended and will be back for all my cycling and winter sport needs.

My wife and I have been looking for bikes and have had little luck finding any shops in Cincinnati that thought they could get a bike that fits within several months. We were in Asheville for a few days and decided to stop into Asheville Bicycle Company on a whim.Hank was excellent! I have tried to do as much research as possible, but we are new to shopping for quality bikes. He was very informative and did a great job of helping us decide what makes sense to look for in a bike for newcomers. He is really all you could ask for in a salesperson. He was informative and enthusiastic without being pushy. He told us he would check availability and get back to us the next day, which he did. If we decide to purchase bikes, we would not hesitate to buy from this shop.

The best bike shop I’ve ever been to in my life. What a great vibe from everyone. I’m from Wilmington and wanted to do a 2 day block in Asheville. My bike really needed some work that was out of my reach. I called 7 bike shops and most said they were 2-6 weeks backed up (what the hell?!?). I called here and they said no promises, but they’ll look at it. At least I was in the door. Chad worked MAGIC. Amazing mechanic, great conversation, and he led me to some great climbs. The price for service was amazing. I will only go here when I come to Asheville. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could...

Customer service that is off the charts with these great guys! I bought an inexpensive bike some time ago and they always welcome me and do air and other service cheerfully. Just got a bike rack and they helped me make an informed choice (not upselling me at all) and installed the rack cheerfully and professionally. Its just a fantastic place--if you are looking for old school customer service this is the spot!

So amazing! I came in today for a tune up on my bike, and when I mentioned my time constraints they said they would take a quick look at it. Parents, GO HERE for service! They go above and beyond for the customer without judgement that your children arent riding $1000 bikes. Asheville has no shortage of awesome and friendly bike shops, but this ones the best.My wife rented a bike in Forest City to ride the Rail Trail and fell in love with cycling, so we thought wed stop in just to see what ABC had. They were well-stocked with lots of different bikes, and we didnt really know where to start, but we were quickly helped by Chad. He was incredibly helpful, friendly, and chill--no jargon, no patronizing instruction, no pressure. He just helped a beginner to feel welcome, encouraged, and confident, and shes delighted with the Liv Rove we bought.The whole place is comfortable, uncluttered, and warm. Great gear selection too, including every Yakima rack option you could ever need. Oh, and jerseys with the ABC logo! Buy one and represent AVL!This is what every bike shop should strive to be. Fantastic service and staff! Wanted to purchase an EBike for my husbands Christmas present and met with Hank. He was knowledgable, extremely curteous and so very helpful without being pushy in making a sale. Found the perfect bike, which the staff assembled for me and Chad even delivered. Upon delivery, Chad sent a great deal of time explaining the features to my husband and assisting him in knowing the product. Recommend very highly!

Cant recommend this place, unfortunately. I bought a moderately expensive bike that had problems right off the bat - I took it in not once, not twice, but three times, and the problem still wasnt fixed. Im not blaming this business for the faults of Giant Manufacturing, but naturally, if you purchase a new bike that has issues, and the retailer cant seem to fix them, thats not a sign that this is a good long term investment. When I asked to return the bike for a refund, I was pretty shocked when the owner said he wouldnt allow it - even when I showed him the return policy on his own website. This business cant do good maintenance on their own bikes, and then they wont honor their own policies when you ask to make a return...

Absolutely the best experience. Went in looking for info on e bikes. Chad was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We ordered two bikes for my wife and I. We went to a Saturday morning bike maintenance class and got to meet the man, the myth, the legend. Chad taught us a lot about bike parts and what to look for when youre trying to safely ride your bike. He explained not only what the different parts of the bike were called, but also how they worked and how to adjust/repair them. It was a really cool shop and a fun way to spend the morning. Will definitely be back.

Recently had to make two visits to this FANTASTIC shop. Specifically, a man with the name Chad was so helpful, patient and our grandchild, who has difficulty being around strangers was treated by Chad as if he was his own child. Chad got down to Braydens eye level, and spoke to him in a friendly, sincere manner. Chad explained exactly what was done with Braydens bike, and threw in a minor thing to make the bike extra safe. After we left, this became a learning experience for Brayden when he asked why was that man so nice and gave me the grip for free? Being able to explain that there are fantastic people in this world and that I hoped Brayden would be just like Chad if the occasion ever occurred. I can’t recommend this shop enough. My fiancé and I rented mountain bikes from them and had a great experience. I have been to many bike shops across the U.S. and the service here was the best I’ve had. The bikes we rented were set up perfect and we did not have any issues with them. Because of our schedule and when we could ride Chad worked with us on pick up and drop off times without any extra charges. Top notch shop look forward to seeing them again.

Terrible experience. I had gone into the store to get a bike rack for my car. I made a reservation for the Kuat NV 2 Base. I offered to pay money down and reserve but was told the rack would be held. The store was going to build up the rack then call me upon completion. I got a call on Tuesday and they had completed building it up. I work in Black Mountain and was going to try to get over to pick it up later in the week. I call Friday only to find out the bike rack is gone, theyve sold it.The most infuriating part - I had reserved an NV 2 at Liberty and put money down. I then took my name off the hold earlier this week because I didnt need the bike stand component.

My husband and I stopped in to Asheville Bicycle Co. to explore what types of bicycles would be ideal for our riding style. And, we were so lucky that Chad was the one to help us. Aside from his patience, professionalism, and interest in listening to our needs, he also provided opportunities for us to ride a few bicycles to physically compare how each bike felt. After tying a few brand, my husband decided he liked the GIANT ROAM GX 28 but, on the day were were in, they only had the medium-size version of the bike in-stock. Chad offered to order the large and let my husband try it out with no obligation to buy. While it is clear that Asheville Bicycle Co. provides excellent customer service, Chad most certainly exceed our expectations! When he realized that I loved the color-combination of the bike my husband wanted to buy, he told me that he would be happy to order the same one for me -- in lieu of letting me to settle for a color I found less appealing. Asheville Bicycle Co. did more than just earned our business for the moment, it will be the place we go for tune-ups and fun accessories. They have a great selection of clothing and gear suitable for all types of biking; and they also carry a nice selection of bicycles --from professional racing bikes for the avid racer, to the casual city cruisers for people who simply enjoy riding around town. I asked them what bike they would think Id have the most fun on. Giant Trance 3. So I took the bike out this afternoon... just got back about an hour ago. This bike is incredibly stable and slingable at the same time. The trails were wet and the roots were like ice on lower wolf. It does not disappoint. Chad and Sam nailed it matching this bike with me. Thank you.

I needed to replace my handlebars that were cracked from an accident and i walked in with my bike and a handlebar of the right size bought at a bike thrift store. ABC was willing to totally redo my handlebars in 24 hours (so i could keep riding). They did a great job for a great price. They also showed me a whole line of womens bikes including extra smalls that will fit me well while another bike company told me the main option was a bit big but i should buy it and they would help me. I felt very respected as a woman and a short one at that ... they had what i needed and were happy to share it.

I recently visited Asheville and decided to go mountain biking with my son, who had just moved there a few weeks ago. We visited Asheville Bicycle Company (ABC) hoping to rent a pair of flat pedals for one of my son’s bikes. Not only did they let me use flat pedals for the day, they also did tire checks and chain lubes on both bikes .... no charge! They were super helpful! Chad gave us great info on where to ride in the nearby Bent Creek area, and he recommended an awesome nearby lunch spot (Papa’s and Beers) where we ate after our ride. Everyone I chatted with in ABC was super friendly and helpful. And their store is well stocked with bikes, accessories, etc. In the future, ABC will definitely be our go to bike store!

Good prices and nice location, My feedback would be work on customer service a little bit, I am not a bicycle parts genius and all I did was tell the guy the facts I knew about my issue with my bike and he responded in condescending ways every time as if I should obviously know everything he knew. Did not make it feel like he was helping me, made me feel like I was a burden to him by bringing in my bike parts. Maybe it was just one guy like that, the other guy who greeted me when I came in was really nice and welcoming.

My wife and I were in town on a brief holiday and decided to rent bikes to tour the area. We stopped into the shop and talked with Chad. He set us up with right bikes, sites to see and high traffic areas to avoid. He could not have been more accommodating - a real pleasure to deal with.

Recently stopped in with my wife, interested in buying two mountain bikes. Being new to the game we weren’t interested in spending thousands of dollars on the bikes. Chad worked with us and found two bikes that will certainly fulfill our needs and didn’t break the bank. If we love the sport we can always trade up in a few months. Unfortunately one of the shops in town attempted to put us both in bikes outside our budget and needs at this point in time. Not sure if they weren’t listening or were trying to earn a larger commission..Kudos to Chad for listening and putting his customers wishes and pocketbook first and foremost. Will certainly return for service and new bikes when the need arises!

I called they said it would take 10 mins to fix my bike. When i got there they said it would take 3 weeks and they didnt have time to fool with me cause they were to busy. They could have said that on the phone and saved me the trip. Terrible customer service. Wont go back and wouldnt recommend anyone else going either!

Rented a bike from here in order to get in a short half-day training ride during a business trip. The manager, Chad, went above and beyond to help me get set up quickly and on the road as I was on a tight time schedule. He recommended a great route (I was looking for back roads and hills), and even had an excellent nearby food recommendation for after the ride. The bike set-up was perfect (especially considering he was looking at measurements from my tri bike to set up the rental road bike, I was expecting to start feeling it after a few miles but nope, bike fit was perfect), and shifting worked great. Especially considering that I live out of state and was just a rental customer, the amazing customer service I received here was truly impressive. If you live in the Asheville area and are looking for a bike shop, I definitely recommend checking out the Asheville Bicycle Company!

I was in town for the Haute Route Asheville and was involved in a crash the day before the event. One call to these guys and they dropped everything to help me out. They fully checked over my bike and fixed everything on the spot. No charge. I came back after day one to pick up a small part, and yet again, they fully checked over my bike (no charge) and washed the bike (no charge). I ended up buying plenty of kit just to thank them. I can’t say enough positive things about this shop.

Chad and his team at Asheville Bike are amazing. I was visiting town for the Asheville Gran Fondo and stripped the pedals on my crank. Owner of a Giant Explore e-bike that I purchased from Asheville Bicycle Company in July 2018. My chain was consistently popping off the front gear wheel so Jesse in the mechanic shop told me to bring it in so he could look at it. This bike is my primary mode of transport-do t have a car so I had to have a family member put the bike in his suburban and drive it over on my day off. Jesse had to remove the pedal, arm and gear protector to access the front wheel then replace the chain with a longer chain and reset the rear derailer. He had told me that I’d need to leave the bike with him for a day or 2 but once I explained my transportation situation he dropped what he was doing and fixed everything within 30mins. He then took it for a test drive and did his best to knock the chain off again and wasn’t able to! Can’t express how appreciative I am to Jesse and ABC for living up to the excellent products and services they describe online. Thanks guys!
