Clean and quiet community! Lots of amenities and exceptional office staff that have been ready and willing to address any and all needs. Townhouse was very clean and any small issues have been addressed immediately with wonderful service! - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
Great location in Asheville along with a helpful and responsive office and maintenance team! Highly recommend this community.
Were quite happy here. The staff have always been attentive and prompt to address any issues. The complex is situated in a walkable residential area, right up against Malvern Hills Park. There are a variety of folks living here -- families with kids, college-aged folks, younger professionals. The buildings are certainly older than some of the newer apartments in town but they are well-cared for with recent renovations. Applying, signing the lease, and moving in were all easy.
I absolutely LOVE being a new tenant at Hawthorne at Bear Creek. The staff goes above and beyond to help me with big problems right down to small details. Theyre super responsive and helpful. Great prices, great amenities, great location, and amazing staff. Definitely recommend them!!
Very nice apartments. Love how it is furnished. Brand new appliances and cool floors. Very spacious. They also offer a lot of community activities and have very friendly staff. I had to move out of my old residence pretty quickly and they helped me move in and get through all the paperwork in less than 2 weeks. Great location. Love all the amenities. Friendly neighbors and safe area. Would recommend these apartments to anyone!
If you are looking for a perfect location, an affordable and beautiful apartment, and kind staff to take care of your home needs, then youve found your spot!
Good. Nice. Great fine. 10/10. 5 starsNo but really, such a caring community. The workers there are the absolute sweetest and in like a really authentic way. Has 3 nice pools in the area and a park very nearby there’s a smaller one and malvern hills park. They always host events at the office and lots more. Come be our neighbor
My son moved to Hawthorne Bear Creek 2 months ago and has had a super great experience. The location is perfect and the staff is very happy to help with whatever needs to be done. Only thing needs attention is the patio furniture, could use some new pillows. Absolutely love the dog cleaning station and the community garden is just to cute. I love this place and am so happy my son and his roommate are there and seem to be very happy.
Weve lived here for 6 years ( I think ). I love the location. Its so convenient to everything ! Rent is expensive at all apartments in Asheville... Weve had lots of problems with the plumbing and toilet but weve always had quick, helpful and courteous response and repair from the maintenance men. The property manager is Ryan and he listens to any concerns that we have and usually provides a quick and helpful solution. The ladies in the office are very kind and quick to help with any issues that we have. We love having the leash free dog park and are thankful for this. My biggest issue is the tenants that refuse to put their dogs on leashes and/or pick up their poop. Tenants wait until the office is closed and have their dogs off leash almost every day and sometimes at night. I have a small dog and that concerns me for his safety and mine. Overall, Hawthorne at Bear Creek is a good place to live. We plan to stay long term.
While I havent lived in this community, I wanted to give a quick shout out to Hawthorne Residential Partners and how great they are to work with. The Hawthorne teams excellent communication, organization, and passion for their communities makes working with Hawthorne effortless. In a short time, weve managed to establish a partnership that I know will continue to grow.
This is the best place I have lived in and have travelled a great deal. Problems are take care.of in a timely manner. The office staff is friendly and helpful. The maintenance staff is also friendly and very helpful. These are people that I think work hard for us and Hawthorne.
This community is so fantastic! The amenities are great, I really enjoy the pool, the swing gazebo, the awesome Starbucks machine and the gym! The office staff are super helpful too. Anytime I need anything, they are quick to assist! Its a great location quick to West Asheville - couldnt ask for more!
I provided services to Hawthorne on numerous occasions . My experience has always been extremely positive.Communication before and throughout the events was flawless. They were always open to new and exciting ideas And the team was outgoing friendly and vibrant. As a vendor I will not hesitate to work with Hawthorne in the future.
After 12 months of living in this apartment:-If you have more than two dogs, aggressive dogs, or a banned breed, youre more than welcome to move in here. They will never check.-I did not have accessible hot water for a month. It took over 30 days for plumbers to come and fix the water heater.-Garbage disposal backed up into the laundry connections. Now it regularly backs up into the dishwasher.-Cave crickets coming out of the walls, mold, and a general damp feeling at all times. In summary, these apartments are just incredibly old. The maintenance is incredibly responsive (which is great because I was forced to put in over 15 requests), the office staff is nice, but this place stinks. For the money you pay to live here, you could live somewhere a lot nicer.
I have lived at Bear Creek for almost 6 months. The staff are kind, helpful and always do their best to help. I would like to specifically thank Scottie from maintenance. He goes above and beyond in everything he does. Have a problem? Scottie can fix it! He is a wonderful asset to Hawthorne at Bear Creek and it sets my mind at ease knowing that if there is any issue, he will not quit til its fixed! Thank you Scottie! Sincerely, Lisa
Every work order I submit is taken care of the next business day. Today I dropped my keys down the storm drain and Scotty from the maintenance staff came and helped me fish them out with magnets twine mirrors and a light. I tried to tip him for his time and he refused to accept. I truly felt like it was his pleasure to help me. I have to say, as much as I dislike living in apartments, the staff here at Hawthorne make it easy.
The community is nice, quiet area, awesome amenities, friendly staff. Maintenance team is always prompt solving any issues. I will recommend this property to anyone.
Ive been at Hawthorne at Bear Creek for over 5 months now. They have been accommodating in many ways & have helped me with issues in my apartment as needed. The price of a 1 bedroom/1 bath here and the location, is a very good value for someone new moving here like myself. There is a maintenance tech named Scotty who has done almost all the maintenance work for my apartment, he always explains what hes done and gets it done quick!
Fantastic staff. The office staff has been great ever since we moved in. I can tell that they really care!
I love where I live. I enjoy the community activities that they do in the office and how if I have an issue with anything they try their hardest to fix it. I couldn’t ask for much more.
Hawthorne at Bear Creek is absolutely beautiful! My Dog Lyla loves coming in and getting a treat from Kristian - she treats her and me like family! i love the gym as well. Highly Recommend.
I lived there for about two years. I got laid off from a job, and told them I was waiting on a tax return, and it would be three weeks late. I had an eviction notice filed at two weeks, and then on week three I paid three months in advance, and paid until I was able to find another place. We had trouble with some neighbors who moved in, who kept stealing my kids stuff off our porch. Other than being three weeks late on rent, once, we never caused any issues. It was stressful being across the hall from people that actually went into our house, while I was getting groceries out of the car, and stole out of our home. Management was unresponsive, and ultimately why we left. They were not easy to deal with, and they also reported to the city, that I was evicted and that I never paid. I didnt realize that this was showing, and caused me some trouble finding a place. I also had to go back through old bank records and pull images of the rent checks, that proved I indeed paid the full lease to have it removed. I still have a fee reporting on my credit reports for final fees even through I left the place spotless and have the receipt showing a return of deposit.
Meh, its alright, they are making a lot of positive changes. The problem is that they had a really crappy start off. My experience has been this, the staff is helpful and the service guys are good about showing up, but these buildings and appliances are really old. 1980s old. Granted so am I. On to issues, water heater leak from next door, upstairs bathroom leaked flooding the bathroom, something happened where there was another leak in my living room, the refrigerator has always leaked, my office has a leak now that no one has come by to fix in about a week, the stove coil melted one day, we had an infestation of wasps in the office, and guest bathroom toilet seal leaked. Its great that they are updating now after Ive lived here over a year. I feel like its just me but i have to believe its just the age of the complex. So i think two star is fair. I wish them the best but man Hawthorne has its hands full. My advice? Wait till they finish ALL the updates, construction, and the current tenants relocate. Rent is going up to not realistic standards for the SQ FT.
My experience with the Hawthorne team has always been positive! They are helpful and friendly - would recommend to anyone looking for a great apartment home in the west Asheville area.
This property is ideally located for access to both downtown and west asheville. The office staff are friendly and have shown above and beyond dedication to their residents. I am proud to live here and would highly recommend it to any seeking to move to asheville.
Ive lived in Asheville for 14 years and my apartment at Bear Creek rings in as my second favorite place that Ive lived! The prices are affordable for Asheville considering what you get. The buildings are well insulated, my bills are low, no mold or pest problems, theres 2 pools, garden plots that you can sign up for, a gym, a 24 hour computer room with free printing (this helps me a ton as I go through school-) and the clubhouse is always putting on fun events and having giveaways. The location cant be beat; Im close to school, Haywood rd (only about 1.5 miles away-) and theres easy access to the different highway systems. Ive only had a few minor issues in the 4 years Ive lived here but the maintenance and office team are prompt at solving any issues and theyre communicative.
Brady greathouse gave us a great tour around very professional person!
These apartments are just fine. People just like to complain. Staff is very friendly and the service staff are prompt and courteous. They are not perfect for sure but these arent high end apartments so I dont know what people expect. Ive been here for 3 years and never had any issues that werent typical of apartment complexes in general. Rent is a tad high for what you get, but its Asheville.
Staff is great to deal with and very appreciative. Great location in west Asheville.
How 1?Strange.Really Strange.Good free coffee.(...grea)And great appliances.Professional neighbors.RN.out.so.called.ones.PeaceTardo’s
Christian and Diana are a pleasure to work with, made moving a breeze! I love their pet spa, so easy to wash my dog.
Bearcreek is a nice place in Asheville. Friendly people live and work there. The maintenance men are quick and clean. The office people are friendly and helpful.
DO NOT MOVE HERE! Absolute joke!I would give them no stars honestly. They steal your money any chance they get. The rent goes up every year you live here. The “new” renovations are poorly renovated. Crappy paint jobs and floors. They literally kept the front door shut painted it while it was closed so when you open the door there’s a line on the top and the side that’s not painted. The walls are also paper thin you can hear your neighbors talk sometimes or the TV. The amenities are a joke as well . They will also charge you if you lose a PLASTIC key card for the pool and gym. $25 for a piece of plastic that you return when you move out! That’s ridiculous. As much as you pay for these crappy apartments they should be complementary. I also moved to a different apartment last year they told me you have three days to move into your new apartment but what they failed to tell me is they still charge you for the three extra days for having that older apartment that they told me I had three days to move all my stuff out! Also when I gave them a check on the first for rent and it was a bad check number because I used a temporary they decided to not tell me and days later I received a note on my door stating I needed to pay my rent or I’d be taken to court! So I then got charged a late fee which was high! Also when my puppy got attacked at the dog park here they did nothing about it they did not care. Honestly, they don’t care for any complaints given. They make it seem like such this awesome place to live but in all honesty it’s not you just care about your money. I will be sure to tell anyone to NOT move here !
Brady was very nice and helped out with everything we needed. Thanks Brady!
Love the maintenance staff here !!
I wish we could rate this zero stars. The amount of money we pay for this place is unacceptable. It is ALWAYS something with this place. They say newly remodeled, but that clearly means new paint and carpet. Everything is old, moldy, and half of it does not even function. Its been 9 months without a screen door and an air conditioning unit from the early 80s that didnt even work! The HVAC company said it was a serious hazard!!!! When we left for 3 days, they broke into our apartment to put in the new slide g doors and there was damage to our property. The issues have still not been resolved. They seem really nice, but its all a scam.
Just moved here 2 months ago and the office staff is super nice, very safe place to live, like all the amenities.
My husband my dog and I have lived here going on two years now. We moved here from Indiana and fell in love with how dog friendly they are. We’ve had a few issues with some flooding in the laundry/storage place, but maintenance was always here immediately to fix the issue and clean up the water. Besides a little bit of flooding that was resolved immediately, we love it here. We are upgrading to a bigger apartment next month. The 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment is a great deal for Asheville! We recommend these apartments to anyone!
I have a few months living in this property and so far everything has been great.
Left our laundry room card in the laundry room one night, couldnt get back in to get it. Talked to staff the next day and they refused to give it back without a $25 fee.Furthermore, the fact that all of the good google reviews get a unique response and all the bad ones get a copied and pasted response speaks volumes.Dont move here if you can help it. Take your time and find a house for the same price. Also, insulation sucks, laundry hookups dont have enough room for washer and dryer, cant open dishwasher and stand at sink simultaneously and theres a sliding glass door right next to our front door. Why?
Staff is so helpful! Amenities are great! I would definitely recommend!
Best community to live, amazing amenities, coffee, and the staff is incredibly helpful they always take care of any issues on time, they are very polite and proactive. All the team at Bear Creek are super stars.
I live at bear creek right now, I unfortunately have to live here until may of next year. I moved from Wv to Asheville thinking this would be a good place to get to know the area. That is the only good part. all the amenities are a joke. Right after i moved in vents in my ceiling started to just fall out, my AC unit start flooding into my bedroom and if you can stand to hear what sounds like people crushing through your ceiling everyday then go ahead and pay $1000 a month to live in a place that was built in the 70s and just had some cheap paint put on the walls and and new floors put in and makes people pay them an arm and a leg to live. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT LIVE HERE!
Dont get me wrong, I was excited about the renovations at first... But its been three weeks since the installation of the new windows and they still arent sealed. Which is costing me more in electric bills than the old windows.Rent for these little old apartments is skyrocketing passed reasonable prices. Its absolutely ridiculous that all the units above the basement floor have been taken care of, but not any of the units on our level. Needless to say... I wont be renewing with Hawthorne where instead of living the difference like their slogan, you pay the difference in nosebleed prices for 70s equipped apartments.
I & mom moved new home jan 2012. Oh hated live below apt no views so bored. 😖👎We moved out apt Oct 2015. So happy out apt. 😖😡😤
Have been living here since August, and love the amenities and location — just steps from the park and playground at Malvern Hills, a short walk to the Malvern Gastropub on Patton Ave (Also the bowling alley, ice cream place and Rockys Hot Chicken), and even a reasonable walk to the heart of West Asheville. There are some hidden greenways around. Two pools, two dog parks — which my toddler and pooch have gotten a LOT of use out of. Playground, BBQ shelter... and Ive enjoyed getting to know my neighbors. Ive also found the staff super-friendly and responsive.I wasnt looking for a chichi high-end place to live, but I definitely wanted to have a comfy spot to live with my daughter and still have a feel for the trees and woods. This place strikes a good balance for me. Rent in Asheville is high all around, lets face it. But this communitys a little gem and worth checking out.
Dont rent from this place they will take your app money and not rent to you. they will lie and tell you that you will be accepted when in reality they just want your 60 bucks for the application fee. which is ridiculous in itself.
I used to live in a two bedroom apartment for only $700, but now Im paying over $900 for a one bedroom. Still, theres free usage of the pool, fitness room, dog wash, dog park, laundry room, etc. I still dont think that $900 is fair for one bedroom, though.
So many new and exciting renovation changes underway with the new management company, Hawthorne Residential Partners! Love the west Asheville location and its close proximity to Patton, Haywood, and downtown.
BearCreek took my 1049$ rent payment for 3 yrs, when they were bought out by hawthorns, they terminated my lease, so they could renovate the apartment and up the price 200$ The staff is very fake, theyll do anything to get you in these very old apartments, you can literally hear everything in each apartment, the walls are paper thin. Just check around before settling here, its trashy and expensive.
Decent property, watch for strange fees that raise the rent beyond advertised price.
Love the location and how pet friendly it is 🐶
Super friendly and welcoming,
Great place to live!
Since Hawthorne moved in it changed from mom and pop to a corporate mentality no care for the people only the bottom dollar. Fired all the employees with the exception of the maintenance guys. Threw up siding over the old stuff and raised rent $150 a month
Those people and company are a joke
