The gentlemen at the check-in counter was helpful and kind. However, the agent in parking lot for car pick up is rude. I arrived and they had no cars available. Instead of borrowing a car from Enterprise their sister company (as they have done in the past) I had to wait for a car to become available. After finally getting a vehicle the inside was not clean, they ran the car through a quick car wash I guess and just handed me the keys. The tire pressure light stayed on the entire rental. When I called customer service they said just mention it to the manager when I turn the car in. On day #2 of rental we woke up and car had a flat tire, and we had to pump air in it ourselves. It was clear they gave us a car that had not been properly serviced. Because we had 6am return flights no one was available to speak with when we turned the car in so we took pictures and video recordings for evidence. Weve been trying to get a manager to reach back to us for over 3 weeks now. Not one response from James the manager.

Their car died on us! So we called customer service and requested help. We were redirected several times until someone told us they couldn’t tow it today maybe tomorrow. It was stuck in a parking garage because we were out to dinner when this all happened. We were then told to get an Uber to the airport by a different customer service rep. We were reassured all extra expenses would be reimbursed. Upon arriving at the rental returns we were told that none of the expenses would be reimbursed. After arguing about it only part of the expenses were reimbursed, about half. Not only were we down a rental for a whole 24 hours, we still had to pay for it! We spent our whole evening trying to get a new car. The only positive side was the tow truck driver was super nice. But he isn’t actually affiliated with Alamo.

Please beware that Alamo does NOT follow the rental requirements posted on their website or received via the confirmation email upon booking a reservations and they will not budge on their unwritten rules. Alamo’s corporate office was unaware of the unwritten rules preventing me from obtaining the rental I reserved, although the manager, James M Pankiewicz, specifically stated that the unwritten policy is enforced by corporate. After verifying with corporate, I was informed the information provided by Mr. Pankiewicz was in fact not Alamo’s policy. When I asked Mr. Pankiewicz to provide a copy of the policy, he rudely responded, “the rules are the rules.”

Overcharged credit card, do not pre pay online. The price reflected on the website is not consistent with the actual payment when processed. They charged my credit card $101 dollars for extra fees. Please beware

My experience with Alamo was great. I prepaid for the car and did the skip the counter option. When my flight arrived at DCA I went straight to the SUV of my choice and was out of there in 5 minutes. Will definitely use Alamo again in the future for my rental needs.

Horrible customer service by Abu (exit guest) and by their station manager, Brian. I flew in from California to pick up my niece and Ive been at the airport for over an hour trying to figure things out with Alamo but all they care about is getting their paycheck, they dont give a DAMN about the customer. Glad to say this will probably be my only trip to DC so I wont have to deal with them again but they have managed to make this trip as bad as can be.

I went to rent a a car that I had reserved a month early and mind u this is not my first time renting at the airport or Alamo in the process of leaving home to get to the airport my ID cracked a little so I stopped at a store got some tape and put a little piece of tape so it wont crack all the way I finally get to the airport to check in at the counter and was told to go upstairs so got upstairs and handed my ID and my credit card and the guy just slid my ID back and told me my ID was fake and altered I took serious offense to that because my ID is not fake we are living in a pandemic its not like I can run into the DMV and get an ID immediately and even when u go to get another ID they give u a paper one I asked if they can take my passport ID as back up the manager said passports are not valid which passports are valid to go across the world but not to use as ID to verify its me to rent a car thats crazy that manager made me feel so bad and did nothing to help and I understand the corporate policy but good people should not be penalized when they can be verified I even asked to have an officer come to run my ID but he was very nasty in saying no about that so I went downstairs to the kiosk and stuck my ID in and it scanned and printed out my contract and told me to go upstairs for a car I get upstairs and one of the porters came over and said I cant get a car because my reservation was canceled which I had a contract in my hand and he said the manager is canceling it now because I have no ID so I went back to talk to the manager again and he said in a nasty tone why dont u just go to budget because u not getting a car here this was so unacceptable I didnt like the service I got and if this is the policy to make people feel bad because of a cracked ID this is terrible I no there are acceptions to every rule there has to be in a pandemic but as nasty as I was treated and telling me My ID is fake is wrong that was an insult and Alamo will not be getting anymore of my money

Like the fact that they stayed open later (picked up car around 11:15 pm) than Avis. Also had a kiosk so that made it easier. Return was a breeze. Will use again. Also a bonus - when I was getting car - you get to choose - had a choice of about a dozen cars - very nice - end up using a Jetta but could have gone with the smaller SUVs (Mazda, Hyundai). Used Costco for best pricing.

I am rating my experience with Alamo a 3.5 to 4 star experience.The price was competitive and the customer service was great!However, inventory seemed limited as I would have preferred a Yukon XL or a Suburban to the Ford Expedition with seating for 8.We found it difficult to reach the cup holders etc. and the vehicle was not cleaned prior to being transferred for use. The ride was smooth though.

I rented a premium pick-up in advance for pickup at DCA. I was disappointed when I arrived and only a minivan was available. Although I had to wait over an hour for the truck, I was very pleased with customer service, they even adjusted the price for my trouble. Reasonable prices and great customer service, highly recommend!

Always great service and fair pricing. I have used Alamo exclusively for several years. Cars are in good shape and they do not sweat any truly minor scratches. That doesnt mean if you dent it but they dont obsess over it either. The only reason for a 4 star is we rented a minivan and it served its purpose. Not a whole lot of bells and whistles but I understand from Alamos perspective that this is not a vehicle rented very often. Regardless, Ill use them again, and for the foreseeable future.

The manager refused to rent a car to my partner who holds a European drivers license. He did not provide an explanation for why we were refused service and simply said that he won’t do it and walked away. He did not apologize or provide an alternative; instead, he questioned us about where we are staying after confirming that the license was valid. This type of service is unacceptable and incredibly disappointing. Please reassess how you treat potential customers.

This was the fastest and easiest rental I have ever had. 5 min at the desk with a very kind agent, quick walk to the garage where the young lady explained to me what to look for and where my car was. Just had three consecutive rentals with Alamo in Washington DC... and am so delighted with their cars, the service I received and the fairness of their pricing. We needed to move furniture and the agent directed me to a van (grand caravan) where the seats all folded down flat. It was bigger inside than a suburban and perfect for what we needed. Alamo did not add strange charges and quoted up front the total amount we were charged. I will use them every time going forward.

Rented an SUV for the day from Reagan National Airport to go to Mount Vernon. Although the walk to pick up the car was a bit confusing and a bit away from the airport proper, actually getting the car was very easy. The counter service was fantastic and Allan who helped up locate the car was the best ever. Returning the car was just as easy. Ive been using Alamo for years at various parts of the country and have not been disappointed.

Nice clean cars. But not well marked how to get to the cars:. First, take the shuttle from level 3 (baggage claim is in ground floor) at the airport over to the rental car building. Then go to the rental counter downstairs before going up to get the car.

I rented a car here on 10/14/19 and only need it for 5 hours total. They refused to give me some type of discount upon returning the car within 5 hours. I have AAA and work for an Airline they still didn’t wanna help me out. I would haven enjoy 10% off but, they said no. I normally I rent from Hertz but, they didn’t have anymore vehicles. Alamo will never get my business again, my total was $114 for just 5 hours of use. So, I do not recommend Alamo to anyone, especially if you only need it for a half day or less.

After calling multiple times to ENSURE someone would be at the desk when our flight arrived at 11:55..... we get to the desk at 12:06 after being PROMISED they would stay open to no one there and a closed sign. We even tried calling multiple times once we landed to ensure them we are on our way. For a $600 reservation it’s absolutely unacceptable. No one even on the customer service line to assist us. We ended up going with hertz who were OPEN and able to help us. Don’t go with Alamo if you actually want to get a rental car for an interview in the morning.

Not being a car owner, I find renting the best option for the occasional longer distance trip. Love the online reservation, quick check in at the kiosks in the terminal, no hassle pick ups and drop offs. Easy access to Metro rail is a plus too.

I have rented twice from Alamo at Reagan airport. My experiences have been excellent. It is a fairly painless process to use the self sign-in and once done, to get a car. The cars were great! The first one had about 12K and second one had 1100 miles on them. The customer service and rental rates were very good. I will go back again.There are couple of things that can make the experience even better -- Install a self check-in on the upper level.- I had my wife drive our car when I returned the rental. We found it very difficult to get out of the rental area. We had to back out of the Alamo return area and then get into a National line to leave. Make this easy.

For the most part we had a positive experience. Some of the staff when we picked the car up seemed a bit short with us, especially when we wanted to point out a few scratches to ensure we wouldnt be held accountable for them. It left us a little concerned we might have an issue. Then when we dropped off they were so busy we just gave them the keys and were sent on our way. This was a good experience for me. The rental lot is just a short walk from baggage claim and the check-out process was easy.I reserved my car online prior to my trip and was able to do counter by-pass. There werent any obvious details about what car I could take though so this is an area where Alamo could improve.The price was outstanding as well - a standard size car for 3 days for less than $110, including taxes. Well worth it and easily one of the best deals out there. The next time Im in DC Im highly likely to choose Alamo.

I rented a special car (meaning compact and above with the price of compact. The reception lady was speedy. The man in car selection booth offered me vans or pick up trucks or compact. Finally I chose Mitsubishi Mirage compact car. Car is well maintained. Overall, great experience.

Easter weekend rental was 😥 and then to top it off upon returning the rental the check in guy was web surfing asked for my mileage on rental and then proceeded to up charge me for gas and car was FULL. When asked about it he ignored me and proceeded to listen to music. So unprofessional. Last yr prom rental was a freaking monster of a disaster. At least this time I didnt get attacked by the woman manager due to someone giving me a rental that she wanted for the weekend and she actually got up in my face when asked for the proper number to her manager I was given a Mgr name of Rodney and he would call me and never received a call. Train your staff on customer service skills and do more mystery undercover work to see how your staffers interact its unbelievable scary.

I was very pleased with the cost of my rental and the staff who were very helpful at Reagan airport with both the contract and explanation of the cars features. I rented a mini-van and had to rely on the staff to push down the unneeded seats. A very comfortable car. It was great that I could return the car at a different location, also. I always have used Alamo because of its lower prices and helpful staff.

For some reason and who knows why my rental was cancelled three times. This was never cancelled by me. I verified the rental 4 days before my trip and it had been cancelled again.The agent that helped me was very helpful and could understand why it kept getting cancelled. When I showed up at the rental counter the agent said he could old not find the contract. Lucky for me I printed everything and had it with me. From this point I had no problems with with the car or returning everything went fine.Joe

Although I did check-in on line the day prior to picking up the rental, they did not have the minivan I specified readily available. One of the staff told me he had to go get one - I assume from another lot - and it would be two or three minutes. Twenty minutes later I was still waiting. Another staffer came along and asked me if I would take a Tahoe SUV instead - I should say here that the staff is very courteous and helpful - I said sure, I had rented one in Florida recently and the vehicle is comfortable. I hit the road and right away and noticed the ride was harsher than I remember. I couldnt take the time to exchange the vehicle as I had a 3-day trip planned, so I continued on. I could feel every bump in the road, every tar strip, except for the smoothest of surfaces, I felt like I was driving an old pickup truck. This vehicle with 23,000 miles on it needed serious maintenance. When I returned the Tahoe the staff was again courteous and efficient. I was out of there in a few minutes. I told the attendant that I thought the vehicle should be checked out. I hope they do that before it is rented out again.

This location is very poorly managed and they do not take care of the cars well. Upon attempting to pick up our rental car, there was no one at the desk during normal business hours to give us the rental agreement. We had to go walking around to find any employee. Then the first 2 cars they tried to give us stunk of cigarette smoke.(I had a cold and still smelled it right when opening the door, thats how strong the smell was!) Additionally, when I tried to recover a lost item, I had to reschedule multiple times just to find a time that worked on THEIR schedule for me to pick it up. They would not honor the pick up times requested through their website. Alamo was maybe $10-15 cheaper then the other car rental companies, but it 100% was not worth the hassle.

Overall rental good, I couldve used a larger car because of my leg stretch, but the price was as predicted on the estimate when I made the reservation. Just know when you rent from Alamo make sure your idea of the size of the car is what you think it will be. In other words, their mid-size didnt equate to what I considered a mid-size, next time Ill go for a full size to accommodate my leg space.

I have rented exclusively from Alamo for years at every airport I fly into. We love the convenience of the free Alamo Insider’s club that allows checking in online before our trip (no waiting in a line at a rental counter) and proceeding right to the garage to pick up our car. This week was our first time to Washington DC (DCA) airport. When we returned the car, I realized my receipt was for about $100 more than my contract quote. I told the lady who checked the car in, but she didn’t seem to care and was “short” with me when she told me to go talk to someone at the desk. I talked with the Manager, Matt, at the parking garage desk. He was terrific and let me know he wanted to help me to solve the problem immediately. He looked into the reason for the overcharge, pushed a few button on his computer, and gave me a refund for the $100. THAT is the kind of service I have come to expect and appreciate from Alamo employees. Matt, the Manager turned our unpleasant, negative problem into a great solution. THANK YOU! MATT!

I really like Alamo, excellent cars in SUV category and above. Rented twice in a week recently. The only minor issue with the SUV rented was the oil change maintenance light came on shortly after leaving the airport. This was a cause for slight anxiety during the trip. There was no reason to interact with any personnel but when we did, for directions and such, they were very professional, curtious, helpful and personable.

I always use self-check kiosks and theyre the fastest and easiest ways to get to my car. They always have really low last-minute prices and if youre an Alamo insider (free membership) you get a free upgrade to the next tier vehicle. customer service are always friendly and knowledgeable about different cars. I like Alamo. I was upgraded free of cost and the car was great. I didnt like that they are no local places in silver spring and i had to trip it all the way back to the airport and they had no cars so National has to give us a car from their side and I then they had to move it over to the Alamo side because of pick up rules. Other than that its pretty good.

Overall, service was efficient and the car options were good. I had a nearly new Dodge Caravan RT. However, it appears as Alamo disables the cars factory option to add ones cell phone using Blue-Tooth technology. In a climate of safe driving solutions, I found I could not program the vehicles radio to accept my phone for hands-free use. I rented in Virginia. I am not sure of Virginias hands-free cell phone use laws, but I imagine Alamo would do all they could to enhance driver safety. This was obviously not their concern. This is the first time Ive rented from a company that actually takes steps to decrease customer safety.

Rented a car from Alamo on Hotwire and had an issue with the booking. When we went to pick it up the manager didn’t care that we couldn’t rent a car and told us to go to another rental company as we would get a better price since it was a holiday weekend. The staff was very friendly, the car was so clean and practically new, and the whole process was stress free. We usually have such poor experiences with car rental companies and staff but Alamo was truly pleasant here at DCA Reagan Airport. Well definitely get our next rental car through Alamo again.

This location is phenomenal! My wife and I used to always rent from Hertz, but we will now be lifetime Alamo customers! The staff there is friendly, customer service is phenomenal, and Mr. Washington at this location was top notch! If you are looking to rent a vehicle from Reagan Airport, I would ONLY GO TO ALAMO!

I have rented from Alamo almost exclusively for the past two years and could not be more pleased. Every representative of the company Ive met have been personable, pleasant, make eye contact and act like its a company theyre proud to work for. The garage attendants offer help loading luggage, and the exit booth attendants and return staff are pleasant. I love being able to pick my own car from the among the class Ive reserved -- the latest rental was a brand new XTS Cadillac with less than 10 miles on the odometer! Thank you, Alamo!

Alamo is the best car rental place ever. The people are good they know how to treat you and youre in and out no problem. I recommend anyone whos trying to find a rental car company this spot. You will definitely be satisfied and appreciate that helpful people that they employed believe me there are official. And the people are friendly and they will work with you. Ive been renting from them constantly for the past two years. I had to return car because the tire pressure indicator would not go off. I called customer service and they told me to take car back to switch out. Attendant on Saturday afternoon was rude and made it seem like it was my fault while the whole time he was watching a soccer match on his phone. Well when I turned the car in he applied $186 extra for gas when customer service told me not to worry.

I was surprised when asked for 3 forms of ID when picking up the vehicle. I also understand Alamo representatives have the best interest for its organization but I wasnt pleased when trying to sell me insurance that I didnt need. However, the car did provide reliable transportation.

I have been using Alamo many a weekend the last year. They have good rates, upgrades, great customer service, easy check in and returns, very reasonable gas refueling prices, very decent late hourly fees, and comfortable, clean, sound cars. I have tried 1-2 other companies, but did NOT like their harsh rules or ridiculous prices - $8/gallon to refuel??!!?? I had to leave the airport to do it myself because that was unfathomable!!! So, even when this companys rental rates are lower than Alamos, I would still choose Alamo!

Rental and pickup was super easy and pleasant. Returning on the other hand. Janie found a small bumper dent that I missed on initial inspection. My recommendation is to take a video of the car prior to leaving the rental space

Easy retrieval of car with reservation. Checked out with the kiosk in less than 5 mintues & was on the road in less than 10 minutes. Worth it to put the car on hold ahead of time.

My experience with Alamo was very very very good as I walked up to the customer service desk to provide them information in reference to renting the car .The staff at the customer service desk was very helpful. The process went very smooth and easy. I was giving great directions to where I could pick up the car . When I arrive to the garage area that tended and for me that I had a selection of cars within midsize . For me to have the opportunity with a wide selection within a specific size range was very helpful. Im always impressed when staff a customer Representatives provide excellent customer service with great directions in reference to helping people or customers thats not familiar with the Rental process.
