I had the most awesome time here! I had a pedicure and manicure done and they were the best I have ever had!! My manicurist did a fabulous job. I can’t for the life of me remember her name but it was Wednesday night August 18th from 6-8 at night. She was wearing a black dress. She deserves so many compliments! All the staff are amazing!! Thanks again and I will be back!!

Really great and affordable nail salon! Ive been here twice. The first time I made an appointment and the second time I walked in for both manicure (acrylics) and pedicure. Both times, I was seen right away. I do recommend making an appointment because the second time I came, I got lucky because there were a lot of more people that came right after. Sonny did really great with the nails. Very thorough and clean! They also listen to my feedback.

This salon was pretty quick as soon as I walked in I got a chair for a pedicure and had a nail technician. She did my pedicure and she was really good! Thank you!!!

Came in today for the first time, and got a fill done by Teddy. He did an amazing job on my nails, and this set today was my favorite one by far. He listened to the requests I had regarding my nails, and did an absolutely amazing job. Teddy took my ideas, and made my nails look absolutely gorgeous. He was very thorough, and was also very friendly. I highly recommend his work, and plan on seeing from now on for my nails.

My mom came to visit from out of town and wanted to treat us with some pedicures. This place was close to where I live so I chose it. Very pretty and big on the inside and friendly staff. Did a great job treating my mom and I. Will go here again for sure when she comes back to visit.

It only took about 5 minutes of being in this nail salon to feel like family. The women working there are SO INCREDIBLY sweet and were so much fun to talk to! They did such an amazing job on my nails.

They did a great job on my nails (full set) and pedicure! I would suggest they “offer” a beverage as I was not offered a drink, and one of the reasons to go to a nail BAR is to relax with a beverage, I am sure they would have accommodated if I had said something. I would recommend the dust and clean the place better, but I am a clean fanatic and as far as most nail places go this is pretty clean. I would also suggest they refrain from chatting with their coworkers so much, I come to relax….all that being said, I will return!

My friend and I planned to get a pedicure, we ended up bringing our girls with us (6,6,8). We were greeted promptly and asked to sign in. We asked if they had enough time to just paint the girls’ nails and toes and they said yes. The technician asked the girls what color they wanted and were whisked away to a chair to get their nails done. I asked for shellac for my toes knowing it would cost a little extra. My friend was rushed back while I ran to the bathroom so I met her after picking out my color. After we were finished they asked how many girls I was paying for and I said 2, I was handed a card that said 30 on it so I assumed it was $15/per girl to have her nails and toes painted. She then handed me my card which said $65 + 15 for shellac. I went to pay and the guy at the register said I would save $7 if I used the atm so I withdrew money from the atm and paid for our services. Which were still $110 (no $7 savings). I also tipped both technicians. My friend handed her card over and she paid and tipped as well. As we were getting in the car 4 people came running out yelling at us that we didn’t pay. My friend went back inside and they told her she didn’t pay enough. Her pedicure was 45 + 15 for shellac, her card said 60 + 15. She thought she paid 60 and 15 for her daughter. They said no it’s $15 for nails and $15 for toes so a total of $30/per girl to have their nails painted. She said they are shellac. No one ever asked if they should use shellac and $30/per girl is a bit high when their nails are so little. They proceeded to yell at my friend saying we didn’t pay and ended up having to pay even more. This was not only embarrassing but completely uncalled for. No where are prices listed and no one consulted us about shellac being used. They were pushy and overcharged us. Never again will we be back.

Tyra is my girl. I found this shop after having bad experiences all over town. She has never burned me, cut me, or done a bad job ever. Im always happy to be there and she talks to you, so its not the awkward hour of silence. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a new home. Price is always the same.

When they say great nails- they mean it. Called in earlier on a Wednesday and got an appointment for three people later that evening. There was only two people working at the time but let me tell you.... it didnt take very long. Sonny is AMAZING. He did our acrylics and hes really good at what he does. Goes really fast but makes the nails look sooooo good. We showed him pictures of what we wanted and he knew exactly what to do. Really listened to us when we asked for length, shape & color. Worked quickly but efficiently. Massage chairs for the pedicure was also a nice touch. Donna doing the pedicures was also very sweet and worked efficiently. I think we finally found our go-2 nail salon in Ankeny, woohoo!

I don’t recommend this place. My girlfriend recently went here and had a terrible experience. She told me a lot of stuff about how rude the workers were. Even the boss wasn’t professional. She went twice. The second time was to correct the problems from the first time & even after the second time they still managed to mess up and on top of that they still charged her another 10 dollars. Usually I don’t write bad reviews cause usually it’s get resolved but not in this case. She wanted a refund but they wouldn’t even do that. Here’s how bad they messed up. She gave a reference picture the first time and & it looked nothing like the actual thing. See for youself —>

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My friend attempted to take off my nails so I didn’t have to pay to get them done. She knows more about nails than I do. She informed me the type of acrylic they used on my nails is illegal. It contains MMA. We researched it and researched how MMA comes off vs. normal acrylic and it’s definitely MMA. Just so you know, they use MMA to make bullet proof glass and it’s also found in concrete. It can also completely ruin your nail beds. My friend and I will never go back and I advise everyone else to do the same.

I was super excited to try this place for the first time and they did not disappoint! Reasonably priced. This is definitely my go to place for my pedicures and manicures.

My tech dealt with my ingrown toe nail VERY well and I love the color. I would highly recommend when getting a pedicure!!!!!!!! Would definitely come back.

The nail tech, Tyra, refused to prep my nails properly for the full set of acrylics I wanted. Anyone who gets their nails done regularly knows that if the natural nail isnt prepped then the acrylics are more likely to pop off or lift at the sides. She also acted like it was insane to want a rainbow style for Pride month. I asked for a different technician as I was not comfortable with her doing my nails. The young man who did my set also did very little prep but at this point I just wanted to get it over with. I had a gift card and wanted to use it and be done with the place. I asked for an oval, natural look. Maybe three of my nails are oval, the rest are just weirdly round. When he put on the polish he left it very lumpy and did not paint all the way to the sides of the nails. DO NOT GO HERE.

My new home salon!! I asbolutely love it here! Teddy and Tammy are always so welcoming and accomadating! Tammy is super thorough, detail oriented, and gives the best pedis. Teddy does my nails, he is quick, efficient and hands down has mastered shaping! He always brings my ideas to life, my nails are always neat, even, and the shape is always amazing. I am always very satisfied with my nails and pedis! You get a bang for your buck here! Definitely reccomend!

I dont want to spend $100 for a pedicure and manicure at a business where the employees talk to each other but not to us customers!! My pedicure was fine. The fill plus shellac is awful. The acrylic is all over my fingers... my acrylic nails are thick and sloppy. Grrrr... never again!

Wanted a design with wavy lines and the finished product did not look like the photo shown at all. looked more like zebra stripes all going the same direction vertically down my nails plus they lines didnt even go to the end of my nails so you could see where the line started and stopped. it gave the nails a very sloppy look. my friends think the nails look decent since they dont know what picture the nails are based off of but personally I am now embarrassed by them.

I usually never leave bad reviews but this was hard NOT to. This was the most rushed, unprofessional manicure I have ever received. Im typically not picky about my nails but I pick a color (red) and he came back and said they didnt have it and just started painting my nails with another color? Barely cleaned my cuticles, and got polish everywhere... my nails looked better going into than leaving after. Would not recommend.

I called ahead and asked the wait time. They said I could walk-in with no wait. I got there and ended up sitting there for 30 minutes and still had not been helped. Ended up leaving.

Didnt go here myself but the ladies with me who went said it was a great time!

Overall it wasn’t great I went with 2 ppl and there person was better so it might have just been my guy but he made my nails bleed multiple times which has never happend and I get my nails done a lot, not only did they bleed but it hurt very bad I told him and he just said sorry and kept doing the exact same thing that was hurting untill I pulled my hand away

Always LOVE the quality of work done here. Today I treated myself to a pedicure and dip manicure. They matched the colors perfectly and boy can they give a good foot and hand massage.

The nail salon is very nice and colorful! Customers are friendly! They offered drinks, water, pop. Ask if you need something and theyll try their best to meet your needs.

We had an 11:00 appointment and were still sitting here at 11:50 and no progress. We ended up being here for over 2 hours. We were given a menu to pick our pedicure option after 12. We both picked the $35 pedicure that was noted as lasting 35 minutes. Theyre pretty serious about that time too. It was definitely not a second longer than 35 minutes but maybe a little shorter. The pedicure started about 1220 and by then the water was ice cold so they added hot water. The actual service was nothing fancy. They didnt say a word to us and spoke to each other.I will not be coming back. Ive never been anyplace that was this far off of schedule. It was just down right rude.

Horrible customer service. I came in to get my nails done as well as my toes. The nail polish on my toes is smudged and super sloppy.I then waited with foils on my fingers for a good hour and a half before ever being helped after my pedicure.My nails were sanded down so thin. They feel very brittle and were poorly done. I’ll never return

They did an awesome job on my nails! I was so sad when I had to take them off because working in a kitchen is not exactly long, painted nail friendly.

My experience with the my nail lady was absolutely awesome. She was very friendly she knew how to hold a conversation instead of just sitting there in silence. However I will never go back there because the nails were so horrible. My length was fine, but the acrylic was so thick my nails were uneven and not filed down properly. I got my nails done on Friday, and it is now Monday and was barely any force all my nails have come off. Something was not done right and it was $50 down the drain. I will never go here again.

We made an appointment and when we arrived it took them 15 minutes to get us situated. They kept talking to each other about us in another language. We came in a group of 4, one of the gals just wanted regular polish and the worker kept trying to get her to do shellac. He finally, after the 5th time of trying to persuade her, got her to give into a color that wasnt the same as the polish color she had chosen! During our pedicure they offered water. Nail BAR I assumed there was a full bar. They only have water, soda, and two kinds of wine. The level of customer service was extremely disappointing. There are too many places in Ankeny to go with better service.

Thank you Rio Nail Bar for being discriminatory towards people with a disability!! This is a violation of ADA compliance, as you cannot discriminate against people who have a physical disability. Even after explaining and attempting to show your staff that I have a doctor’s note, you still refused my service. I plan to never come here again, and I used to spend a large sum of money each year here for myself and through the business I run. I have half a mind to report you to the state for discrimination. Everyone please stay away from here!!

Sorry tried to attach a photo but I wouldn’t go back same price as competitors but leaves glue and polish on your finger pads and large globs under your nails. Not to mention dirty work station. He had me put my hands on the dirty table while he put the towel they normally lay out for you on his lap. Will happily drive across town to my old place than go back.

The first pedicure I got here was great! The nail tech, Ryan, was fantastic. However, every time Ive gone there since has been worse than the last. Everything is clean and I enjoy the products they use, but the pedicure itself lost quality.

They wouldn’t fix my nails even though she apologized they were so ugly. She cut me multiple times. I had to help try to fix my own nails while I was there, and I had to still pay $50. Ridiculous. Don’t waste the time. Not even a business.

I usually have good experiences their but the past two times have been terrible and I have cried both times when I left. Today I got a dip like normal and I asked for tips on the end. They made my nails a lot shorter instead of longer. They cut them shorter than my finger. They left them uneven and not smooth. They also made my cuticles bleed. But some workers are better than others. I wasn’t paying attention and I didn’t know that there wasn’t tips until they were almost done. One of the workers asked to see my nails and she even looked like she wasn’t happy and she was picking of the excess powder that was still on my nail. I told my friend and showed her a picture and she says it wasn’t worth the $40 I paid for it.

My mom and I decided to try out Rio Nail Bar for the first time ever this past weekend on Saturday. I was in town from Indiana to visit for Easter and my mom & I wanted a pedicure. Rio got us in at the last minute at 11 am on Saturday and we made our appointment the night before. It is a beautiful nail salon, clean and has wonderful decor. It doesnt have the overwhelming smell like some nail salons do either, which I loved! They gave us wonderful service - my mom and I both enjoyed how much time they took and how much detail/attention was given to our pedicure. We also received eyebrow waxes from them and I loved the results. It was the best eyebrow wax Ive ever received! Its worth the price you pay to go to Rio Nail Bar and I would reccomend this place to anyone! My mom said it will be her regular place from here on out. Plus, you get a free glass of wine so I really cant complain! 😊 5/5

Tony is amazing!! I got a pedicure and a full set, both with the shelac. The shelac is a little expensive and I probably wont do that on both my hands and toes again, but I am a repeat customer so I will be back. Nothing beats the complimentary beverage, in my case white wine...and like I said, Tony is amazing. He is nice. The conversation is good. We both were laughing. I will schedule my next visit with him and you should too. Great job Tony! Thank you!!

I have been here for pedicures for the last couple of years. Ive had an array of people doing my pedicures... Im rating Rio Bar and Nail 1 star... during my last pedicure, I had a gal named Kristi.. she was so aggressive removing my calluses with a tool that looks like a cheese grater, she literally sliced off part of my good skin. It hurt pretty bad. I told her that she hurt me and and Im bleeding and her comment to me was. You have Calluses. Well yes I do, thats why I came to get a pedicure!!! I have never been so tense before... she also kept pushing me to buy the $65-70 pedicure. I kept telling her no $40 one. She seemed annoyed and usually the $40 pedi is great and relaxing... she didnt massage my legs hardly at all... i should of not paid for the pedi. I took a photo of my bleeding toe but i cant attach it.. just beware.My friend thats a cosmetologist said using that grater is dangerous.. not very happy

I recently went in before a wedding that was out of town so I specifically went in to get the dip done knowing it has lasted me from other nail salons more than 2 weeks. The guy doing my nails was falling asleep, I kept having to tell him where he was missing spots. I also asked if he could clip a few cuticles and he wouldn’t unless he charged me. I was gone for a week for the wedding and my nails chipped after 2 days. I couldn’t get it fixed out of state because they didn’t have the correct color to match. I went back to the salon asking them to take them off and not charge me, he said he can fix them for free but he wouldn’t be able to take them off for free. Yet, when I was first getting them done the guy said they weren’t going to carry that color anymore so I got lucky! So how is this guy going to fix my color when they don’t even have the correct color! Ridiculous! I would stay far away, they say they care but I could clearly see they were talking about me in another language as they all looked at me while he took the dip gel off. My first experience was also not good, so I should have not given them the 2nd shot.

Don’t recommend going to this salon. I went here for my friends birthday and we were both very disappointed. The atmosphere is the only good thing about this place. The gal I had filed so hard during my pedicure I have scabs on the back of my heels. When she was removing my old shellac and talking to her neighbor the file slipped down to my skin and I have a huge cut on one of my fingers as well, she said sorry and giggled. They pushed my friend and I to get a dip manicure instead of a shellac, we told them we only wanted to do so if it matched the shellac we had just done on our toes. They assured us it was the same color so we did it, when we got done it was two completely different colors. Very expensive for bad service.

Came here with a friend, made us sit across the salon from each other, my nails were no where near even or close to the shape I wanted. I would never come back or recommend to others. very very upset with my first experience here. Other salons in ankeny can give a way better experience.
