The first few times I went there because they offered the best price on whatever I needed after shopping around. Now they are my go-to shop because they’ve been consistently friendly, honest, helpful, and competent as well as affordable. They’ve also really gone above-and-beyond to help me on more than one occasion. Car trouble doesn’t stress me out as much now since I found a good independently owned local business that I trust and am happy to support.

We go here for propane they have the cheapest prices. My hubby likes it here so we come monthly. I always stay in car so my review is based on the help we get when they fill our tanks & prices.

I took my car here for a coolant issue, and got my serpentine bell trick replaced. They are very prompt reliable and honest I will be taking my car here in the future even though I dont live in South Anchorage anymore.

Decent service, UNTIL they break something and refuse to fix it. I brought my car in for a simple fix that they did quite well. After paying that day, I picked up my car after hours when I had a ride, and the check engine light came on immediately, and it drove erratically. Clearly they knocked a wire loose or something. I took it to them Monday and they said they would check the code for $20. Wait, what? You broke my car, and you’re going to charge me $20 to plug in your machine? At first he said his mechanic could look in 20 minutes or I could come back tomorrow. After I told him I wouldn’t pay $20, he said they are too busy today and I should come back tomorrow. Seriously? I took it to them because it was a simple repair. I live close and frequently get gas or minor repairs or tire changeover there. Never again. No gas. No flat fix, and certainly no engine repair. Hopefully the next owners will do better at customer service.

Staff was professional and answered all my questions. They did break a windshield wiper but replaces it at no charge. They also filled my power steering fluid because it was low (no charge). Very friendly staff (easy on the eyes as well 😜) watched them interact with multiple customers while I waited and all left happy. I will recommend these guys to my friends.

Appt. was at noon, they had to call the installer and wake him up. It was supposed to take 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. It was finally done 4 hours later. Then it malfunctioned and I had to spend an hour the next day getting it corrected by another auto shop. Very disappointed.

I love Reed’s! Always reasonable gas prices and the nicest people. I’m Alaska Native and from rural Alaska, and Anchorage sometimes feels impersonal and just so busy. Reed’s feels like home: friendly with people who take time to really greet me. When I was new to Anchorage, I needed my tires changed and was unsure where to go. I chose Reed’s and was treated so well. Thank you, Reed’s!

I paid $650 for an alarm that does not work nor do my door locks. Now when I try to unlock my doors my driver side locks. When I picked it up the auto start didn’t work and the owner told me that they needed another part and for me to return the truck so they can install it but they will need more money. My truck has never had a problem with the windows or door locks until I brought it here. Pictured is the power cord for the alarm. It looks to be a broken fuse with a wire attached to it. I regret having this shop work on my truck. Now I have to find another shop to do the work and I’m now $1500 dollars into an alarm. I think this company should just stick with oil changes!

Seems to be some quite varied reviews here so I thought I should share what I have experienced at Reeds. No they dont seem to have the best face on all the time but I have not experienced them being rude to me or others. maybe they should take some sensitivity training but I think as an owner operator service station were lucky to have any left. I have only bought fuel often and one set of used tires there, as well as had them mount and balance quite a few sets and repair flats when I needed it done right with a patch on the inside over the last 20 years. I have never had a problem at all and they have been quite fair on the pricing compared to anyone else I know of. I do my own maintenance and repairs so cant speak to that. Just happy to have a service station around still!

Worst quality work I have ever seen. Brought my steel snow machine trailer in for a simple weld repair (needed two square tubes welded together at junction after rusting thru) Horrible quality! They said they could do the work. Was told that the weld was performed all the way around the tube, but only 3/4 sides were welded. This place looks like a dump, and operates like one too! Could’ve gotten the work done elsewhere for cheaper with better results.

I called for an estimate to replace the spark plugs on my 4 cylinder. I could have done it by myself but Im out of town. 300 bucks for approx. 30 minutes work. Nice try! I will definitely recommend this business to anyone I know. Btw, the independent Subaru shop in town would charge me 160 bucks.

I needed my tires changed over. The line at JTS was literally out the door so I decided to try out Reeds. I was in and out in under 30 minutes; plus it was only $60!!! Cheaper than anywhere else Ive been or seen advertised. Highly recommended. I will be going back. Support local businesses.

Great local area gas station. If you only have $.10 discount at Carrs/Safeway they are usually the same price. Open 24 hrs. But is unintended after 8PM till morning. Also has propane and shop services. They can fix your tire or change your oil as well...

I needed a temporary replacement tire after a nasty pothole cut open the side of one of my tires. I came across an ad on Craigslist for lightly used tires, so I gave Reeds a call and luckily they had my size so I came in a few hours later. The older (guy whos name I cant recall, starts with an M so I’ll just refer to him as M) was the same guy I spoke with on the phone and when I came into the shop. I was very polite and thanked him multiple times for his time and help, however his attitude was unwelcoming and completely unprofessional, he could never be bothered to look me in the eye or not take his sweet a** time to give me more than a minimal unenthusiastic answer about the tire and services I was paying him for. Im not mechanically inclined so I dont think answering questions about used tires is so much to ask for! When I asked him how much tread was left on the tire he claimed one year or so depending on how much their driven, but assured me they were safe and usable until I can afford to replace the full set.Anyway ... after the mechanic put the tire that was advertised as worn but safe and good for another year on my old rim and mounted it on the car I paid M a $100 cash and he tanked me for coming in a very “ get the f%*$ out” kind of way. I asked him for a receipt as I was paying him cash for used tires and I would like a record. He made out the receipt, I attempted to thank him again for his time but he cut me off mid sentence shouting OK, THANKS! as if I wasnt worth his time. After leaving Reed’s Auto I felt very strong vibrations in the steering and the car would pull to one side almost violently at lower speeds, not being very mechanically inclined I figured that after hitting a pot hole and running a smaller sized spare that I just needed an alignment. So about a week later I finally get an appointment at the Alignment Center off 51st ave, I drop of the car over night and come in to pick it up the next day. I was welcomed enthusiastically and professionally by Alignment Centers staff but told that the cars aliment was dead on and that the vibrations were caused by the tire that Reed’s Auto sold me, furthermore explaining the tire had severely broken belts that could cause a blow out at any moment and that driving the car with that tire posed an immediate danger to myself and other motorists. So after very slowly driving it home near by I parked it and didn’t touch it until I was able to buy new tires and mount them later that night.I don’t know if the dangerous condition of this tire was somehow overlooked or if management at Reed’s is more interested is putting my life and property at risk to make a quick buck. I would like to give this business the benefit of doubt but after the way I was treated in person I have a had time doing so. I would like Reed’s to reach out to me and offer my $100 back as well as a free tire dismounting so I can get this potentially lethal tire of my rim. Until they make things right I can not recommend anymore else spend their money here or entrust their life’s and property with Reed’s Auto.Reeds Auto:I have a receipt and pictures of the damaged tire you sold me, I urge you to make this right if you wish to restore my repect as a customer, and to maintain your reputation if this was an honest oversite.

DO NOT GO HERE! First off I came in for a simple rough idle, I later found out this was just a simple adjustment on the carburator. Well this sleezy skumbag running this operation thought he saw sucker across my forehead because I had a classic car.Yes the Mechanic found a few things wrong but I only approved to figure out why its running rough. The mechanic dude didnt seem like a bad guy, its his boss. I call back a few days later to find out he started ordering all these parts, some of which I had already ordered myself for it. The car had just had a tune up recently with an oil change, new air filter, etc.Well without approval he went ahead and did all this. When I called he would not give me an estimate on how much this was all going to be. I specifically asked ABOUT THIS!Long story short after not getting approval to preform any work besides a diagnostic and no approval to order any parts. This piece of garbage hit me with a 988 dollar bill. That was for an oil change I did not ask, tune up, and a new fuel pump installed. I was duped. And they still didnt get it right, idel was too high. My friend showed me how to adjust it with a flathead screwdriver. Super simple fix I wish I would have just asked my friend to help me because they replaced things on there which were in perfect working order. They did address a few things that needed to be replaced but I would have liked a heads up on how much it was all going to cost so I could have told him to go shove it.Sincerely a totally dissatisfied customer

Took my car in to fix the heater. They fixed the heater but blew out my radio, dome lights, and auto locks. When we called them about what was wrong they claimed everything was already wrong when we brought the jeep in. Bullshit! The only thing wrong was the heater! Luckily I took it to Kia Lithia off Old Seward and after a night they found the wire that was shorting out. Spent over $300 at Reeds to fix the heater problem. Spent $124 at Kia Lithia to fix what Reeds Fd up
