Absolutely the worst ran property management team Ive ever had. Considering the premium price tenants pay in order to live here, theyre anything but luxury as the name suggests. Yes, theyre tucked away from the noise most neighborhoods have, but thats about where the compliments stop. Having a gated community is a great idea, if only they kept them closed most of the time. I literally just got home, its after midnight and the exit gate is WIDE open...with no sign of closing anytime soon, or so itd appear. Dumpster nearest my unit is CONSTANTLY overflowing, grounds could use some serious upkeep and if you need to rely on management for anything other than repairing their own units...dont! Ive placed several concerns on their resident portal, but most of my posts are still pending some dating back as far as January. False sense of pride that option gives, only to be let down again by the people managing the Human Relations or virtual portion of the job...underwhelming doesnt begin to describe my frustrations with their performance. If youre seeking your next residency, Id suggest not wasting your time or money here!!! Unfortunately many people like myself cant afford to just uproot and move, otherwise I wouldve already!
We have our son staying here, over a month ago my son sent requests (three of them) to have his bathtub faucet fixed. Zero response. The hot water constantly going is making his apartment 80+ degrees and extremely humid. My wife called and talked to people a couple/ few times. Its getting so bad in his apartment, a ceiling repair fell, his ceiling in his bathroom is falling down. Twice my wife called, talked to people and still nothing is being done. Over a month with this problem. Some experts reading this, please help us on landlord/Tennant Lease. Because Weider Properties is really dropping the ball on this. Apparently calling them or emailing them, is pointless, they do nothing.
On May 17 I contacted our landlord regarding cracks in our ceiling & sent them pictures. Heard back from them on May 18 & said they put in a maintenance order. They didnt come to my apartment till May 21 to look at it & said he will need more help than he thought. Today is May 31 (exactly 2 weeks since I contacted them) and we came home to a collapsed ceiling. My boyfriend who also lives in the apartment also called them May 27 for an update, we were informed nothing could be done till Tuesday June 1st. Thankfully no one was home when this happened but my dogs were home. Im grateful they were not injured. In my opinion, this is neglect. Now we cannot sit in our living room area till further notice.
I love my new apartment home. Ive had Moose visit me and anytime I text or email I receive a response within a day. Timber Ridge is so close to the base and still far enough away from Anchorage to feel like Im in the true Alaska frontier. I really love the laid back atmosphere of management. Id recommend anyone to rent from Timber Ridge.
Isis Crouts1580 Russian Jack Drive Apartment D7Anchorage, Alaska 99508My apartment was broken into while I was at work. I discovered this when I try to open my apartment door on my lunch break. I heard people running out of my home onto my porch. Saying quote she is not supposed to be back right now. I had tried to leave the apartment and the door would not open. It would not budge I was stuck inside. For about 5 minutes I tried to call for help at the apartment a front office. However nobody had picked up. I was forced to go out the back. Thank goodness I was on the first floor because I would have to climb down top down or something like that. And I am pregnant.I was finally able to get ahold of the apartment from office again and she said she had written down the wrong number of the apartment but she will check it out when she is able to. I followed up with her later that day and she had told me that the door was now able to be open and shut and I was uncertain if my key would work however she said she did not want to argue with me and disconnected the call. I had went up to the office to talk to her to find out if everything was all right in my apartment.I had my daughter with me she was holding my hand while I was speaking to her and I asked her for her managers information because she was not trying to help and she was being very upset and rude and did not want to help and did not sympathize with me being locked in my apartment for 5 minutes.I then received a call from Rachel H. Im not exactly sure what her title is but she had told me that all calls were recorded and the office and on the phone. And I had threatened the apartment manager. I was confused and I asked with what weapon? She said that I had voice to her that all of the veterans were going to beat her up in Apartments. I was surprised and I said I said no such thing I told her that she should be a little bit more nicer because of veterans that live in the apartments could complain about her and there could be a lot of problems. Then Rachel tried to skip over what she said and then try to get to the reason why she was calling which was my broken door. Then I asked for Rachels manager because I feel misrepresented and this tragedy. She then was trying to argue with me and trying to not give me her managers information I finally had to say Im not moving forward with this conversation until you provide you our bosss information because I have a complaint.Long story short this is not been the best experience here at Russian Jack Drive Apartment Homes. I have been here longer than that managers contract and I dont appreciate or respect how she is running your business. I am a valued resident that has been here for over two years now and I deserve more respect than this. I am writing to you to let you know what has occurred today around 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. when you guys close this was between Shelly Y and Rachel H.I will be contacting the police about this manner the Anchorage Police Department because somebody did break into my apartment however I dont feel that they have handled it professionally and safely my door is still tore up and I am so scared to lock it because me and my daughter might be stuck inside again Thank YouHave a great eveningIsis Crouts
Will repeatedly tell you they will call you back then instead will send you to collections! When you finally get that bill you be charged an extra $100. After you try calling them once again, they will continue to say they will call you back! They never do.*in response to weidners review* this is about my RECENT calls. But sure, quote an email from 2018. How about all my calls recently? Or the extra $100 i was charged? Also, that email was AFTER WE HAD BEEN SENT TO COLLECTIONS. AFTER YOU HAD NOT TOLD US IT WAS FINAL.
0 stars would be a more realistic choice.I have been dealing with a leak in my CEILING (Im the BOTTOM unit) for going on 2 months maybe more. When I first moved in 2 years ago the sink flooded and carpet needed to be replaced and here I am again sink and dishwasher exploding, flooding 3x just this week, what looks to be from the sewer.Theres also a washer machine thats been clogged? and filled with nasty water for almost 4 months leaving their only 2 washers for 18 units.I havent been able to use my dishwasher nor kitchen sink for a week. How am I to cook and clean?! Why do I have to walk around my apartment with shoes on so I dont soak my socks?!Edited to add that Im on day 3 of a soaking wet carpet...
Very frustrating living at Russian Jack Apartments is all I can say. I pay extra to live in an apartment with the one amenity that I need which is a washer machine as a teacher this is a must for me and it has been broken off and on since moving in on June 20 and now since October it has completely stopped working and they installed a new one on December 22 but the person that they hired didn’t know how to install it and so now it is half full of water and doesn’t spin... lol the managers don’t bother following up with you and constantly cut off while your explaining things to them about the problems... I think for a 5 star rating be better listeners and follow up with your customers and make sure things are working and if not get them fixed in a timely manner.
Nad reviews i dislike weidner
Their computer system automatically booked tour, but it did not notify the complex. Manager was out at time set and did not have a vacancy, anyway.
Truly an awful company to rent from. I think they should change their name to Slum Lords Inc., as it would be an honest name.
The Landlord at Driftwood Apartments is disrespectful and does not respond to Tenants in a timely manner. The Landlord sits in the office all day, theres time to read tenant emails and respond with follow-ups. I wish that Weidner did not have Glenda as the Landlord at Driftwood. All the other Landlords at Driftwood did a much better job.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANYAlmost got killed by a faulty Stove at one of their apartments, also had an outlet explode right next to me at the same unit, as well as left us without heat in below freezing temperatures for MONTHS. They still are trying to charge me 4000 dollars for moving out early due to the unsafe condition and the trauma that caused.DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.Update: they still sent it to collections DURRIJG AND PANDEMIC and I am still suffering physically and mentally from being electrocuted. Seriously, do not rent from this company.
If there was an option for 0 stars, I’d choose that one.I live in the Deer Park apartments off of Laurel St. by the university.Management is the most unhelpful bunch of people I’ve ever encountered. The apartment was very nice when I moved in, however I have neighbors who chain-smoke and it seeps through my floors and walls. I clear mucus that tastes like smoke out of my lungs all day every day.I’ve asked management to do something about the issue for several months now. Nothing has been done and the management has not helped me at all. I have a year old baby that is being affected and I also have very nice furnitureInstead of helping me, the management recomended for me to move into a more expensive apartment without paying the additional costs or moving costs, which I can’t afford. At this point, I’m just waiting until my lease is up so I can get the hell out of here. The stairwell to get to the apartment looks and smells like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. There’s a dog that howls all day. Neighbors argue obnoxiously. Things are stolen from cars in the parking lot. Cops have arrived for cases of physical violence more than once. You will go to work hard each day and fund the neighbor to live on unemployment and chain smoke every day, only to have your families health and furniture ruined by smoke.NEVER RENT HERE. Weidener is a terrible option.
The community director and the staff at The Legacy West are amazing. I have lived in my apartment for coming up on 2.5 years and have seen the difference with the new management. The sense of safety and the care of the employees is something that anyone and everyone should experience. The legacy west apartment complex is a great place to live.
I lived in a Weidner apartment in 2010-2011 when I first moved to Anchorage. I was treated well by management and maintenance responded to my requests fairly quickly. When I moved out I received my full deposit with no issues.A year and a half ago I moved into another Weidner apartment. The office staff has been friendly, responsive to questions, and quick to solve issues. Maintenance has always responded quickly to problems that arise, including replacing worn appliances. When I came back from being out of town for a family emergency to a flooded bathroom they had someone there within half an hour... on a Sunday. Both Allison and Brad at the corporate office were great when I approached them with questions and concerns and they made me feel valued as a tenant. There will always be some issues when living in a rental property but Weidner staff has always made me feel like they care that their building is also my home.
Place was relatively cheap for the anchorage. However when my lease ended and i was renting month to month and i wanted to move out. I gave 29 days notice, was one day short of 30 and they made me pay for the whole extra month. Then we rented professional steamers to clean the carpets (which were not dirty anyways) and they said we needed to have someone else clean them professionally and give them a receipt. this place has tons of complaints about how they scam people and poor customer service. be very wary when agreeing to rent here.
My son moved into Montclair Apartments in Anchorage August 2018. He was told, all utilities were included and there was a pet deposit. Upon arrival, the unit he rented had been damaged and so they moved him to another unit. This unit was FILTHY and had many maintenance issues, the first being, the door would not stay closed unless locked and there was a major mold issue in the bathroom. All issues were reported to the management but nothing was ever done. Fast forward 6 months and the management submitted an electric bill for the previous 6 months stating they had never said utilities were included. (We have the documentation stating otherwise) Tenants gave 30 day notice of intent to move, scrubbed the entire apartment, documented it with both video and still pictures. Management claimed they had 12 hours cleaning, had to replace carpeting (It was damaged when they moved in and documented) and a supposed closing electric and water bill. For THREE months we have been fighting to get their deposit returned. Every excuse in the book as to why this has not happened. Finally reached someone who agreed, they should not have been paying electric or water...We explained it is ILLEGAL in the state of Alaska to charge a non refundable deposit for rent OR pet deposit. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! They will lie, avoid, hold deposits, upcharge for things that are supposed to be included. We will be filing a court case on Monday as 10 days after the deposit was promised to be returned, still not in receipt of one dime.
The worst management in my life. I rented from Arbore point apartments and there was nothing but drunks sleeping in the hallways, noisy disrespectful people, kept raising the price and outdated. Management does nothing when you complain. They rarely answer the phones and the never do what they say. Took them 3 days to fix my toilet.. That should be something done same day. Save yourself the hassle and rent from anywhere besides here. When my lease was up they never responded to me to look over the apartment to get some deposit back. Instead they took it and ignored me. But I rather them have it then ever be associated with weidner again. Id give them 0 stars if possible.
I personally like Weidner. They are very affordable and most locations are very nice. Being in college and newly married this is the right place for us. Weve only had an issue twice while living at the Club. 1 for being accused of illegal dumping since that has been going on a lot lately, but it was sorted out when my husband proved we are tenants at the location and another when our neighbors complained that our dogs were barking when it was another apartments dog. Aside from that we really like the place. I wish some places came with a private garage though! Especially the location with separate units.
Love the new flooring and upgrades in the kitchen and living room!
They were attentive to fixing what was wrong when needed. However, they entered the premises without written/verbal notice or my authorization. Their saving grace is they did give my deposit back. Consequently, they did not do enough to receive 2 stars.
I called in advance and asked if they rented to people with a criminal history, I explained my charges and was completely honest. They said it would NOT be any problem. To fill out the rental application and submit the fee for the application. I did... and with in 45 mins I was called back by the same gentlemen. He said due to my criminal history ( Leaving the scene fo an accident ), I was not accepted. So why tell me it would be fine? ?? Just to get the application fee!! They have done this to several other people I have spoke too lying and telling them it NOT A PROBLEM. Only to deny after the application fee was submitted. Your the crooks Weidner!!! Shame on you.
Garbage company, treat you horribly, very rude. A lot of robberies from apartments by maintenance men, no help from anyone to deal with problems such as loud neighbors or anything for that matter. They must not do background checks on their hires. Do not recommend signing a lease with this company, read the agreement very thoroughly because they will screw you out of money wherever and however possible.
I have been with Weidner apartments for 4+ years so please heed my warning, This company will screw you over every chance they get. If you want to pay rent, you Pay online with a 45.00 fee +6.00 convenience fee. If life happens and youre a bit late on rent, they threaten to evict you 2 days after rent is due and post a 24 hour prior notice of entry after only a week of being behind (the first in 4 years). Further, there have been issues that dont get resolved for weeks on end. One such example, perishable food was left out of an apartment and left to rot for nearly 2 weeks. Though neighbors and myself have called to complain and have it removed, as it is nothing I would be willing to touch, it is still remains, only to smell worse every day. These are only a couple of the plethora of issues that resides with this apartment complex and overall company. Though they may be the least expensive at times, take my advice and stay away. The ONLY reason I have lived here as long as I have is because I despise moving and they didnt increase my rent. DONT RENT WITH WEIDNER!!!
DO NOT RENT HERE. I had a 3 month lease at Legacy Apartment Homes off of Patterson. I had never rented before, unusual I know, so I had no idea about giving 30 days notice to move. I thought a termination date was final, not conditional. The office kindly put up courtesy notices on peoples doors to remind them when their lease was up, and that they had to give notice, but they put it up 2 WEEKS after the necessary date...how the heck is that helpful??!! They must really laugh about that in the office, after all, its just a courtesy notice. Doesnt matter if they put them up late, YOU are still liable to pay another months rent because you didnt give proper notice. They obviously know people forget, hence the courtesy notices, but they only want more money, so they have no interest in actually helping you.
Id give this company 0 stars if I could. My grandmother is 89 and they gave her 5 days to move out because her son stays with her. God forbid the elders have someone to take care of them. They tried to get him on the lease but these $$$ hungry people just want to raise the rent I bet. Scumbags, absolutely scumbags.
These people have illegal leases! Any and all tenants need to sue them. THEY CANNOT REQUIRE TENANTS TO PAY ATTORNEY FEES as stated in their leases. #15 of the lease is highly illegal. Everyone should turn them into the Real Estate Commission - 269-8160 STOP THEM FROM THEIR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES BELOW IS THE STATUTE!What to watch out for:Rental agreements cannot:• require the tenant or the landlord to waive any legal rights under the Landlord and Tenant Act;5• permit the landlord to get an “automatic” court judgment against the tenant (called a “confession of judgment”);6• require the tenant to agree to pay the landlord’s attorney fees;7• limit the liability of landlords or tenants when either has failed to meet their responsibilities;8• make the tenant liable for rent even if the landlord fails to maintain the premises as required by law;9or• allow the landlord to take the tenant’s personal belongings.107AS 34.03.040(a)(4)
Awful hires for property managers, I have been requesting Ice melt all winter and they arent listening I have fallen multiple times, as have my guests. unless you dont mind living in a slip hazard never step foot on weidner property. they are rude, they dont care about safety or laws. trash people with trash apartments.
If you can, AVOID Weidner apartment homes. These people are sneaky, rude, and borderline criminal. My first apartment was with roommates with Greenbrier and it went well for the first six months until my boyfriend and I had to move out to get our own apartment. Although some of the move out pain was due to our roommates, it was largely due to the management at Greenbrier. They were all nice at first until we told them we wanted off the lease and have another couple be put on the lease to replace us. They made us jump through hoops, wait days for replies (and we lived almost directly above the office), and charged the new couple a move in fee. When our new apartment called for a reference, they acted like we didnt give them any notice of us moving out but we had told them TWO WHOLE MONTHS before we actually left. We were working with them the entire time to make sure all of the paperwork was in order. They also told them we were late several months in a row but records show that we were only late one month and by 30. Whole. Minutes. We got out of there as fast as we could. We actually applied for the Alpine apartments as well with a friend who worked on the North Slope and needed roommates. The management was nice at first but because rude and condescending as time went on, especially when talking about prices of the apartments. We put a down a $500 deposit on a two bedroom apartment and held it for a week. Our friend backed out so we asked or our deposit back and got only $233 of the initial $500 back for holding it for a week... AND it took them 6 months to get the money back to us!!!! They sent it to my apartment when we asked for it to be sent to Alpine to be picked up. And when I called corporate for help, they acted as if I was in the wrong.Corporate doesnt like anyone. Management doesnt like anyone. And we put up with it because the apartments are cheap and so are the deposits.Im never going to rent from Weidner again as long as I can help it.
I live at Park Plaza 2. The building is nice, however the road noise is really bad. My sliding glass door has mold spots on it. I was locked out and treated very poorly by the maintenance man who called me. Even worse, when I called regional management, Katherine did not initially apologize or recognize my customer service issue. I had to ask her to address it. Why am I paying so much to live in a nice place if the customer service is bad? Office management at park plaza II is great, but for bigger issues out of their hands, weidner doesnt seem capable of providing a level of customer service to match the cost of living at their properties.
Slow service. Non local out of state financial issues .not interchangeable between properties.
The list goes on here. Having to call the cops on neighbors because the manager does nothing, the lack of maintaining anything they own... Weidner is a complete pain by how much property they own, and should be avoided like a diasease.
They will steal your money. Tenants will not receive their deposits.I have lived here for 3 years and my rent for a two bedroom with VERY thin walls, one assigned parking area, no yard, no balcony, no garage, in a very sub-prime neighborhood costs me almost $1300/mo plus utilities. Roughly $1500/mo just to keep your lights on!Garbage is over flowing every week and people have been murdered right here in wiedner! My advice, FIND ANOTHER PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY!These people prey on families to give them bogus fees and over charge for services, so petty as unclogging drains! If you have an issue, they will do everything they can to save themselves money. Including bogus serving fees for late rent. There are many places to rent from and I strongly suggest that you clear WIEDNER PROPERTY MANAGEMENT from your list! They have NO respect for women at all. Very disrespectful to my wife when she tried to explain why rent was late. 5th instead of the 3rd.Its not my fault that you cant pay your bills. Not an ounce of compassion from these people.DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SLUM-LORDS!
Half assed apartments alomg with the people who work there. Dont expect anyone who works at the club apartments to do anything except sit on their asses. Worst apartments ever!!!!! Dont waste your time or money!!!!
This company is borderline criminal, with their late fees (ambiguous by the way) they charge you out the nose for things they make up on the fly. For example, I lived at Quiet Creek Apts. for over 3 years, beyond the time needed for releasing me from responsibility according to their own documents for repainting the apartment after moving out. They charged me my entire $800 security deposit for this and for leaving a dirty oven, which I honestly forgot to clean. $250 to get a set of replacement keys, if I remember correctly, and I believe it was a $36 fee to pay your rent late. Oh wait, they arent borderline criminal THEY ARE CRIMINALS, CONVICTED IN A COURT OF LAW. Weidner, in case anyone who isnt aware, was ordered by the court in post-judgement sentencing to pay over $500,000 restitution BACK to current and former tenants who filed a class-action lawsuit specifically for overcharging tenants for various services. The owner of the company, I believe Dean Weidner is his name, is a crook of the worst order, and should be incarcerated. Speaking of incarcerated, when Quiet Creek apts was taken over and bought out by Weidner, literally overnight I saw a safe home to raise a child in, turn upside down, with families of 6+ living in a two bed apartment, open drug dealing in the parking lot, as well as fistfights and gunplay. It wasnt the neighborhood, it was the property company, overnight, allowing filth in. To hell with this company, and to hell with Dean Weidner.
Weidner has the worst management problems and i hate how they own most of the apartment buildings in Anchorage.
Widener apartment homes is severely mismanaged in my opinion. If you are moving to Anchorage, or planning to go to college here, make sure to steer clear of these apartments, as they are in my opinion overpriced and in many cases dangerous places to live.
Zero stars. Worthless.
They don’t return calls or texts
AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE. Seriously.
They just never answer their phones
They enter your residence without any prior warning or without any consent from resident at the “old” park plaza. Very scary.
They scam money out of you all the time.
Nice office, professional associates
Tried calling back to set up a payment plan to pay what we owed from moving out, no one returned our call. The 30 day time period passed and they sent it to collections. We finally got in touch with someone a day prior to finding out about the bill being sent to collections and they set up a payment plan with us. However, the bill is still in collections even though weve upheld our end of the payment plan.
Bad..
Nice and professional
Horrible service, damaged properties, sleazy operations.
HORRIBLE!!!
