Had my inspection done here a month ago and the service was super quick. Today I arrived first thing in the AM see if my tire was repairable and fortunately they found the problem and patched it up. I was out in ~30 minutes. Happy customer!

All the good reviews were true. Took my car in for a number of reasons and Mike and his team did a good job triaging and letting me know what absolutely needed to be fixed vs what could wait and be taken care of at a later time. I definitely appreciated not getting upsold on additional services. Showed up on a Saturday but they were busy and was told to come back Monday morning. When I arrived, they were able to take me in right away and my services were completed in a few hours. I got my brakes, rotors, caliper and hose replaced and the price was reasonable. On top of the quick and good service, I also received a follow-up call the next day to ensure my car was still performing as expected. Also, cant tell you how nice it is for someone to pick up the phone every time you call and not send you to voicemail (experience from other stores).

Mike is awesome!He Took very good care of me. But before I was married, so did his dad. He taught him well! Trusted! I live locally. I walked down there in a raincoat in a thunderstorm, which I loved, I only took my credit card and my license. My cc got declined. Didnt know why. The guy let me drive back home to get another cc. I brought my wallet and a check just in case. My debit went through. When I got home, my cell had a message from bank asking me if I authorize it the cc. I didnt want to bring the cell because of the rain. Love these guys!

Close to Home...Ease of service!I recently moved to the neighborhood and located this service center. I walked in and they were able to do an oil change for me same day. They had Covid safety practices in place, leaving my car for service was easy and they called as soon as it was ready for pick up. Im glad to have found a place within walking distance that I can trust for routine service.

Ive been getting my safety and emission inspections here for over 13 years. I have always found them to be very honest in their dealings.Fantastic service. I recently came in for an inspection/emissions test for the 13th year. My car did pass the emissions test and safety inspection. I was kindly greeted by Mr. Patrick. He was very friendly and professional. Overall, it took less than 45 minutes (only had to wait behind one other person). They have my business for as long as I live in the area. I would definitely recommend Barbers Auto Service.

I dont typically write reviews but I wanted to publicly note the help that I received at Barbers Auto recently. I needed to get my car inspected on short notice in the early evening and stopped at Barbers Auto because it was nearby. Patrick was fantastic helping me get the inspection done efficiently and quickly. I was in and out in about twenty minutes. Im sure the other personnel are good but I highly recommend that you ask for Patrick when you go in. Patrick will now be my go-to mechanic for everything on my car.

Nice place. Parking can be tight, as are the gas pumps and the convenience store area. We had a vehicle breakdown near there late in the evening - they gave us next-day turnaround on an alternator replacement. Night crew was able to do the intake, instead of the typical impersonal key drop-box. Definitely recommend for vehicle repair.

AVOID this place. AVOID. AVOID. They scam customers. They constantly have problems with their credit card readers. I used my debit card there on 17 September 2018 for $23.78 in regular unleaded gas. Then, yesterday, without any prior notification, on 10 DECEMBER 2018, I see that this same merchant has debited my checking account WITHOUT MY EVER HAVING GONE BACK THERE in the amount of $11.42. This charge appeared on my account 3 months later out of NOWHERE. My bank said the merchant made an adjustment to the original payment of $23.78, and they have a legal right to do it. Really?? I am certainly going to the police about this, but for anyone thinking to buy gas here or have a repair done GO ELSEWHERE.

Great service!! The reception behind the counter is always so friendly and welcoming! I recently had my second visit for a last minute oil change. I arrived a few minutes before they opened and realized I had a meeting in an hour. Since I needed to be in and out, with 30 minutes for driving time. they completed my oil change and replaced my windshield wiper blades in 20 minutes. My first experience was an oil change, inspection and tires balanced and rotated. They had my out in no time. My only complaint was I was given someone elses hubcap on a tire. They had me come back to fix their mistake. I wouldve rated them a 5 but this was a mistake that was clear if I had looked my car over. If you want great service, this is a place to come!

Beware if you take your vehicle here for repairs. I would suggest a 2nd opinion. I have a full size truck. I took it here for a convenient oil change while on a project in the building next door. I was told my rear brakes were in immediate need of replacement and couldnt wait. I had purchased ceramic brake pads for this truck and questioned the need. I told the service rep that if they were indeed that bad that I wanted him to keep the old pads as I would need to use them for proof based on warranty I have on the pads. The person said he wanted to double check and would call back. I then received a call back saying they could make it through another oil change. I since took it to the dealership for some recall work and asked about the rear brakes. I was told they were in good shape and wouldnt need to be replaced for some time, possibly the next inspection which was almost a year away).

I had been going to this place with my parent as a child (different owners then) so I assumed the service was still great. Brought my car in for an inspection last year. They told me that a belt needed to be replaced in order to pass inspection, so I got it replaced with them. Immediately after what should have been a simple repair, my four year old vehicle that had never been in an accident, had no prior damage, minor or major repairs...would no longer accelerate properly (it would just stop accelerating on the middle of the interstate) and my AC stopped working. The manager at the time was polite in delivery but extremely condescending in language and told me they were not responsible for what was happening to my car. The owner and manager agreed to fix their technicians mistake but would charge me. I ended up spending over $1,000 in repairs at a Nissan auto service (the place I should have gone to in the beginning). Avoid their services at all cost. Get gas and leave.

This is a letter that I had originally sent to my credit card company while disputing charges from Barbers:I am writing to describe my experience with Barbers Auto Repair at the Liberty gas station on King St. in Alexandria. On my way down from Baltimore to my sons house, I stopped at the Liberty gas station to pump gas. When I finished pumping gas, I attempted to start my vehicle, a Toyota Yaris, at which point the engine was ticking, but would not start or turn over. The vehicle was also showing signs that the battery still had some life (e.i. the dash lights or headlights werent fading). At this point I tapped the starter on the vehicle to see if the starter was the problem. Taping the starter did not get the vehicle to start. Not knowing what else to do at this point, as I did not have jumper cables, I went into the gas station and inquired about having the vehicle looked at the following morning. The mechanics shop attached to the gas station was closed for the day, so no one was available at the time to look at it. The following morning I received a call from a mechanic at the shop named Sammy who told me that the vehicle needed a new alternator, serpentine belt, and battery. Shortly thereafter Sammy called me back with an estimate for the work. I called my regular mechanic to compare pricing on replacing these three parts. My regular mechanic confirmed for me that the estimate given by Barbers Auto was a fair price for parts and labor to correct the problem. At this time, I made my way over to Barbers Auto to talk to Sammy about the repairs. When I arrived at the shop, I found that the alternator had already been removed from the vehicle. After asking several questions of Sammy, related to the repairs he had suggested, I insisted that he test the alternator in front of me to show that it was not charging the battery sufficiently. Sammy refused to illustrate that the alternator was not charging, claiming that he had equipment that could only test the alternator if it was still on the vehicle. Despite my insistence on being sure that the alternator was in fact no good, Sammy suggested that if I wanted it tested I would be charged twice for labor for putting it back in the vehicle. At this point, I questioned him as to why he took the alternator out of the vehicle in the first place, a question that he had no answer for. This is when things got very strange. While I took a cell phone call from my regular mechanic, I observed a Hispanic man who was working with Sammy take my removed alternator, which had been placed on the hood of my vehicle, and wisk it away into one of the mechanics work bays. The man proceeded to go into a corner of the shop, looking into the alternator with a flashlight in one hand and a screwdriver in the other. At this point, I ran into the bay and snatched the alternator from Sammys worker fearing that the man intended to tamper with my alternator after I had suggested that there was a possibility it was working just fine. Needless to say, I took the old alternator and locked it in another car I had arrived in while I waited to have the Yaris towed to my regular mechanic. When I confronted Sammy about his mechanic taking my alternator into the bay for no apparent reason, he proclaimed no funny business with a smirk on his face. I proceeded to pay for the labor for taking the alternator out and back in. Directly after this, I had the vehicle jump started and driven to my regular mechanic at K&G Auto Repair and Detailing to have it checked out again and confirm that the alternator was not charging the battery sufficiently. At this point, Kostas at K&G determined that the alternator was working fine. The battery had cracks in it, causing it to not maintain the charge it was receiving from the working alternator. At this point, I knew that I had received, and paid for, a false labor charge from Sammy at Barbers Auto.

I came here exactly on March 25th 2021 and I got a check engine light diagnose check and I was told I needed a Air Mass Sensor so I paid for it and when I got my car back the check engine light was still on and it was still driving the same so the next day when they gave it back to me the check engine light was still on and it was riding the same. He told me to give it a couple days and I really didn’t want to come back being annoying so I just left it alone but now it is months later I took my car to the dealership because it still drives funny and they told me code P1101 which is air mass flow sensor and now I’m just confused because I thought I got it replaced here at Barbers Auto Liberty. I still have my receipt for it and I spent $286.96 for nothing :( overall Mike was a very nice guy!Update- Mike called me and understood my concerns! Very appreciative πŸ˜‡Another update- Mike & his team fixed my car and I am so pleased! Thank you Mike for being so kind and caring!
