I’ve gone to another 10th planet which was good but this place is even better. Nate has created a great culture/ feel with the perfect combination of laid back and structure. I feel like I’m learning a lot, have made some friends, and motivated to keep returning and progressing. There are a lot of high level guys that are nice enough to show me moves and give me a goal to strive for. Highly recommend!

I have trained at numerous dojos in different disciplines. Nate runs a great school which is demonstrated by the high level athletes that train there. Next Level Combat is different than traditional dojos as it is less formal (bowing) which makes it easier for a new person get accustomed to the environment and training. The 10th planet jiu jitsu system is extremely dynamic and Nate breaks it down so that the students can learn the technique and implement them while rolling. Great school!

Started a few months ago. Great atmosphere and knowledgeable instructors. Nate, the owner, is great to learn from. Night and morning classes with 1 on the weekends. Nate (the owner) is one of the best guys Ive ever had the pleasure of training with. The facility is fantastic (the right setup for what you would expect a combat gym) and always clean. The people that train are all of optimal character and there is no one you wouldnt want to train with because of attitude, demeanor, etc. This place is truly second to none.

Jiu jitsu is high level and the atmosphere is one that is friendly and welcoming. I quickly made friends, and my functional knowledge of jiu jitsu has expanded and improved since leaving my former gym. I joined at next level at 28 with experience. My dad (55) joined for his first time. Our experiences socially have both been favorable. The differences in skill level were not an issue, as they offer fundamentals for beginners, and classes for those with more knowledge. Safety is is priority. Facility is clean. We are very satisfied. My son (13) has been at Next Level for 2 years now and he loves it. As of this posting date I have only attended 3 sessions and the people there have been incredibly helpful. I started going to Next Level Combat with literally no experience or background of any kind in martial arts. I’ve only been going for a few weeks now, but feel like I’ve learned so much already. Very chill environment where everyone is friendly and eager to share there knowledge with you. I live an hour and a half away, but it’s totally worth the drive for what I’m getting out of the classes there. It’s a place where you can have a ton of fun, while pushing yourself physically and mentally. I highly recommend going and checking it out.

I’ve been here a month and I’ve been astounded at how helpful everyone is. This has been my favorite school (out of a handful) in the Twin Cities to train jiujitsu. Attentive instructors and helpful, positive advanced students who regularly keep me positive and motivated. Everyone is friendly and nice and it overall is a good place to go. I do the boxing classes there and I get a really good workout while I have a lot of fun. They also supply you with gloves and equipment and you can also use the gym there if you want. With the workouts you get a good, overall workout for you whole body and still get in some skills while doing it. They play music which is a nice for working out and have all the equipment you will need. I strongly recommend going to this place if you are looking for a gym and/or lessons for martial arts.

Next Level Combat is easily the best gym in the Twin Cities for learning Martial Arts, Getting in shape, or just starting a new hobby. Ive been to several places to learn martial arts in this area. One only taught striking, the other taught only submissions. Here at Next Level Combat, I can learn both striking and submissions, and how to put them together. It also has a weight room area you can use to workout when you dont exactly feel like rolling on the mat. I highly recommend this place compared to other places Ive been to.

Ive been training at Next Level Combat since the day after it opened (almost 4 years now). I have grown physically and mentally stronger since I started, my knowledge of martial arts has increased exponentially and my confidence has gone through the roof thanks to training there. The instructors are amazing and fun to work with. The students are fun, motivated, and love to learn. It is the healthiest and most fun learning environment Ive ever been in and even though I cant go much while at college, I always look forward to going back. Every one at Next Level is nice. Period. All the trainers are great, they always smile, they never hesitate to help out, all the people who attend the classes are upbeat. There is a lot of diverse training going on (mostly simultaneously) and its never really crowded, you can always get one on one help when you need it. The staff seems to genuinely care about helping the members reach their goals, what ever they may be. There is no down side to being a member there.

I was actually terrified to go in for the first time. I was not sure how it would be inside and knew I would be making a fool of myself when I went with how poor of shape I am in. I had no reason to worry. Spence is the instructor for the Intro BJJ classes and you could not ask for a better teacher. He is patient, knowledgeable, and keeps the environment light and friendly. I will continue going to this place for a long time to come. If you are thinking about learning BJJ this is the place to go.

I highly recommend Next Level Combat! I have a seven year old boy that enjoys participating in the classes. He always looks forward to Jiu JItsu and has no problem going 2-3 times a week. The classes put a big emphasis on No Gi Training which is more realistic, especially for children. Another great thing is their are no hidden fees and they dont charge for belt testing. They have great instructors for individuals of all ages. It’s amazing how they are able to train very young children with such patience, respect and discipline.

Just started attending the Jiujitsu classes at Next level combat. I recently moved and needed to move gyms. The atmosphere is relaxed, the teachers are very helpful. I also enrolled my 8 year old daughter and she enjoys it very much. The kids classes incorporate fun and at the same time practice fundamental skills. I will follow up review next year, but so far I am extremely excited to be a member of Next level combat. Dont let the name or the misconceptions of MMA keep you away from a great aerobic activity. Ive been coming to next level combat for almost 2 yrs. From visiting other gyms I would say next level combat has the best Bjj and Muay thai classes for all levels. The gym has a great atmosphere for learning. Ive seen guys develop at really fast rates some have even became professional fighters. The schedule is really flexible, classes are held on multiple times a day. Every few months we have world-class practitioner give seminars. The instructors are really easy to talk to and give sound practical advice. Its an amazing place to develop your skill.

Working out and training at NLC is great because there is always an instructor there to motivate you....its like a having a free personal trainer. Class sizes are small and always a good time. Nate is a very knowledgeable instructor who always stays current on all of the changes happening in the sport. John Spence teaches the Intro Jiu Jitsu classes, and he is also very knowledgeable and a great instructor. You really can’t go wrong training here whether experienced or a total beginner. They also offer kids classes that seem to be pretty popular theses days. I’ll probably be here for the rest of my life.

I would recommend next level combat to anyone interested in fitness, martial arts, or mma. I have trained at 3 different gyms for mma and next level is definitely the best fit. The class sizes arent too big and everyone gets plenty of personal attention from the coaches and instructors. When it comes to Jiu Jitsu gyms in the twin cities area, this one is by far has the most value for the money. BJJ instructors are world class, with major tournament wins behind their belts. Ive been going to this gym for 3 years, driving almost 45 minutes in traffic, its worth it. Ive had zero BJJ or MMA experience before starting in this gym. BJJ definitely had helped me become more resilient, stronger not only physically but mentally as well. Again, there is no other MMA gym in Minneapolis/St Paul area at that price point with the same level of experienced instructors and the number of classes that they offer. Ive been training Jiu Jitsu at Next Level Combat for 7 months and it has changed my life. Its really easy to get motivated to come in and train because we are always learning amazing technique and the instructors are the most down to earth people. Tim and Nate often bringing in top level guys for seminars, and they took along a bunch of people to the 10th Planet headquarters to train with Eddie Bravo. An absolutely amazing place!

Pretty nice place, it was clean and you access to both this location and the apple valley location with membership. I chose the Jiu jitsu program which was great, but the muay thai looked pretty cool also.
