I loved the property when I first moved and management is super cool but..... pet owners some not all dont like to pick up after there dogs. I have lived in this property and never ran into these problems until this year.
I would like to recommend Emily West who is the resident service specialist to anyone looking to lease at Signal Hill Apartment.Emily attention to questions and concerns is Impeccable!
Recently I got stuck with a $175 towing fine. I have been living here for 3 years now. Always had people over until 10pm with no issues. I was advised towing didn’t start until 10pm. Recently my friend was towed prior to 10pm. I was stuck with the bill. I called the office and was basically told since I don’t know who I spoke with, that it’s not their problem. I was very upset at first. Once I calmed down, however, I looked over my past 3 years of living here and remembered how the main office had literally bent over backwards for me on multiple occasions. We had a terrible neighbor the first year. They removed them. They even went as far as to walk from the office to their door to speak with them. They have always had reasonable prices, and been quick to give a good explanation on how their billing works, they have always greeted me with a smile and kindness, as well as have created a healthy community for the whole complex. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for a safe and happy environment to live in. $175 is a small price to pay for years of outstanding service. 8.8 out of 10. Probably the best apartment I’ve lived at.
Lovely community and amenities but their communication skills are lacking. Make sure you read all 30 pages of your lease as they will not honor what the leasing agent told you on the phone. As well as no TIMELY reminders as to write a 60 day vacate the premises BEFORE 60 days. That way you won’t be stuck with a month to month fee even though you moved out well ahead of time! Nothing worse than paying for a property that your not in. For 12 days at that!!
Dear future residents: The maintenance staff is lazy and unaccountable. Don’t expect to have anything fixed properly. The parking is scarce and your guests have to pay $5 per night. The walls are thin. The mail situation is ridiculous. Your packages WILL BE STOLEN so have them delivered somewhere else. They don’t replace the carpets after each tenant so if there is a previous stain you will be charged for it when you move out. The staff is personable but hardly any help unless you threaten to go to management. Amenities and perks that they’ve previously offered like: stainless steel appliances, TV in the apartment, accent wall etc are no longer available but the rent has continuously increased. The apartments are not spacious enough for the rent charged. Save yourself the headache of moving here and find another place.
The staff is unprofessional, incompetent and rude, the property is cheap and I had to call the cops countless times for domestic fights, gunshots and being physically assaulted. I use handicap parking and all the spots were always filled, I asked them to add more spots, they said thats not possible.....I would never work with this company again, they do not value their tenants.
I had booked an appointment to tour the property more than two weeks in advanced. I’ve even been in contact with a leasing representative about a week before my tour date. My tour date was for 02/06/21 at 11am. I arrived on time and followed the directions to start my tour. There was nobody present and nobody was available to assist. I called the leasing office several times and left a message for them after my 5th call. I’m actually typing this review from the lobby of their leasing office after providing more than enough time for somebody to respond or assist us (45mins to be exact.) Signal Hill was a clear favorite for us; however, after this experience, I would not recommend working with Signal Hill in any capacity. This was a complete waste of time and very unprofessional to not even get the courtesy of a call or having someone available to help, as advertised. I know COVID-19 has made it tough on all industries to operate normally, but at the same time, there should have been policies and arrangements in place to assist prospective residents in touring the facilities.
Just moved in here yesterday which is 9/30/2020 and finished moving in around night time, in the morning I went out to find my motorcycle is stolen, I asked to see if they have any security cameras and there was none. Anyone can come in and take what they want. The place is decent and always thought it was nice until my first day of moving in. They should invest in gated entrances or even security cameras for safety.Still the response is not addressing for future residents and not saying about installing any cameras or security, Ive been talking to neighbors and everyones packages been stolen or missing. Yet the management is not doing anything about this. I thought I was moving to a better place and dont let looks decieve you.
Just moved after 6 years. My experience with the staff and my apartment was great. I was always able to resolve any issues I had within a reasonable amount of time. The location was great for my commute. I loved my apartment. When I moved out, the process was straight forward and fees were minimal. I didnt experience any break ins (parked in outdoor parking) and felt safe.Overall, a great choice for apartment living in Woodbridge. [all opinions are my own and not sponsored in any way]
Nobody showed up for our tour. Terrible service, clearly they dont want to rent the apartments out. Waste of time.
Really nice apartments. Very comfortable, nice and quiet area.
I left this site in April and now in August I get an electricity bill. I go and explain to the person and he tells me that I have to call Dominion when I was not the one who arranged the electricity service and the apartment is already rented. The only thing that I realized is that they are tremendously incompetent.
I had a great stay at Signal Hills the past two years! I was in a one bedroom first then transitioned to the two bed/two bath. This floor plan was great and very spacious. Management has been been very nice and accommodating to our needs. Wendy, David, and Linda were excellent. I enjoy the events they put on throughout the year. You can hear some noise from above and owners need to clean up the dog poo more often but other than that I highly recommend!
So far so good! Ive only lived here for a month by but the apartment its self is very nice. Prices are a bit high for my taste, but then again Im from Florida where renting prices are much lower. Staff are understanding and very helpful. In particular Miss Becki. She helped me get into an apartment, explained everything to me down to the T and was just an absolute joy to talk to. Cant beat the simplicity of this place. Will update as time goes on.
Great place to live. Competitive pricing, nice amenities, close to EVERYTHING you might need. Its a joy to come home to.
Great staff & beautiful apartments. Convenient garage parking. Quiet neighborhood. We dont even hear our next door neighbors much.
I have lived here for almost four years and I couldn’t be happier with the choice to reside here. Excellently kept community! Cleaning personnel here EVERY WEEKDAY to clean building hallways, elevators and grounds. Landscaping kept up consistently! I have NEVER had ANY issues with any bugs or any other unwanted uninvited “guests” as Signal Hill makes it PRIORITY to do PREVENTATIVE pest control on a CONSISTENT basis! I emphasize this because for ME, That is IMPERATIVE! Bugs skeeve me! NO Issues There! Attentive, professional and personable office staff and maintenance personnel. Nice community amenities, community held events from time to time, close to highway, shopping, medical care if needed and so much more! I totally enjoy residing at Signal Hill!
Good apartments, but poor customer service. The property manager is the absolute worst and aside from David, the onsite staff is an absolute wreck.
Dave the assistant manager is a liar and a crook and the manager Wendy is not any better or helpful! I will definitely not recommend anyone who doesnt like stress or liars to rent there!and its over priced!
After reading the reviews I see that the negative comments came from when Signal Hill first opened. The car and bike theft had nothing to do with the complex alone, we live in Northern, Virginia and this use to happen a lot every where, not just the complex. In moving to Signal Hill, I think it is a great place to live. My neighbors are friendly and are very helpful, the events at the clubhouse has been fun. I like the website that is set up as a forum to communicate with the neighbors on different topics, events as well as the easy set up to pay rent and bills. I find inside my apartment quiet. Other than the construction that goes on outside on route 1, not really an issue.Their is tons of amenities for everyone with the pool, fitness center, game room and I cant wait till the outdoor kitchens are set up because I love to grill. The staff is pleasant and fun to talk to. They have been super helpful with anything I needed.
Awesome experience with Signal Hill. Took our time choosing the right place when we moved here in 2016. The staff was great and welcoming. The facilities are well maintained. The two bedroom floor plans are very spacious. Love the events Signal Hill puts on - movie night on the lawn, chilli cook offs and pool parties! Very animal friendly, which makes for a mess here and there, but the cleaning staff is on and work every week day! Great place to be!
Hidden Charges on my monthly bill every month! The office don’t take care of billing issue, you have to always call the billing department, and they never pick up the phone, you have to always leave a voice mail! Always seeing additional changes on my month statement and if you don’t pay for the additional charges you get late fee charges of $187!
The staff are very nice and professional. The outside and inside of the apartment complex is very well kept. I have been here almost a year and love calling this home.
Not safe, too many break ins. Rental people are rude and as unruly like the neighbors. No matter the complaints, they’ll ignore. You pay too much money (a lot of hidden fees), to not feel safe or have peace in your home. I WILL NOT LIVE HERE PERIOD!!!!
After months of looking for a new place to move in with no luck and very bad customer service, we stumbled upon Signal Hills Apt Homes and were swept off of our feet with amazing customer service, communication, and great housing options! This place is great and the people there are nice and genuine! 5 stars for sure!
Best apartment living experience I’ve had thus far. Pam and Bernard are always professional, very friendly and always provide timely responses to your concerns. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend this property!
Every was great! I love it. They must have gotten it professionally cleaned! I’ve never seen such a clean apartment during move in. The heat didn’t work but they fixed it same day! Suppper greaaat!
My AC wasnt working so Jose from maintenance took time out of his Friday afternoon / night to help, even though it ended up taking almost 6 hours in total! Very, very much appreciated Jose! :)
This is a very good apartment community and the staff here is very helpful and friendly. They take time to answer your questions about the facilities, amenities and the surrounding areas. Very well maintained.
Great support from Leasing Office Staff, Easy access to information. Had no problems here
Weve lived at Signal Hill for the past 9 months and couldnt be happier with the vast majority of our experience.Regarding the community:-As far as apartment communities are concerned, this one is very picturesque. The grass is cut and bushes trimmed at least twice per month (it very well might be more often; point is that they stay on top of it) and there is enough green around to make you forget that youre right off of a heavily-trafficked, main road. They have a beautiful fountain that also offers some very nice, calming background noise when walking around the community.-The pool, pool deck, outside grill and fire pit make the ideal setting to have some fun by cooling off and hosting friends/family for an all-day affair.-Everything around the property is kept very clean for the most part. They have staff walking around every morning, cleaning up where they can. The ONLY negative is that it seems they sometimes dont have enough trash collection space to meet demand. This isnt all the time, but a couple of times a month youll find that people have simply chucked their garbage wherever in the collection area because the compactor is full. To be fair, this issue isnt solely on the community; there are other trash collection areas that people could walk over to if they could merely summon the meager amount of energy required to not be so lazy.-The gym and bike classroom area are very well-equipped compared to other apartment facilities that Ive used.-THIS IS A DOG-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY. If you dont like dogs or harbor the unreasonable expectation that its unacceptable for them to jump around and play within the apartment in which they live, this community isnt for you. You could always rent a 4th floor unit and make it a non-issue entirely. Anyway, there is a good amount of space to walk your dog in, and they have no less than 5-6 dog waste disposal stations (in addition to an ample amount of trash cans) located at various points around the property. If you come visit and find that the community isnt clean, its not for lack of trying on managements part.-The amount of available parking is wonderful, offering far more spaces than any other community Ive lived in prior to Signal Hill. Tow trucks patrol the area aggressively and WILL GET YOU if you dont have a parking sticker and attempt to stay overnight without a temporary parking pass.-Access to the buildings require a key fob 24/7/365. This was a big selling point for me, as I appreciate the extra level of security controlling who can and cannot access the more intimate spaces leading to everyones units.Regarding the staff:-Simply put: They are wonderful.-Linda Peters: I have bothered her extensively over various requests and she has always done the very best that she can to assist me in achieving a positive outcome. No matter how hard of a day shes been having, I have never caught her without a smile on her face. As someone whos often time the first person that potential tenants see, thats huge. She has displayed extraordinary understanding and compassion to me on more than one occasion and is willing to work with you, regardless of your circumstances, to find as best an outcome as possible.-Maintenance: Theyre outstanding, supremely knowledgeable, responsive problem-solvers. Put in a service request one day and theyll be there the next, working around your schedule and making sure that they provide awesome customer-service while also respecting your personal space. In conclusion: We love it here and just signed on for another year. If youre looking for a fairly-priced apartment in the area and dont check out this community, its truly your loss.
I had a friends car recently get towed here, I am a current resident of 2 years..they recently added a parking kiosk that is not advertised..my friend who is a disabled veteran had his car towed car was towed, there are no signs stating what times vehicles will be towed..unacceptable..I am moving as soon as my lease is up!!
Loving the new place so far! Beautiful community, attentative staff! Ready to make this place home❤️
The units are very nice, love the crown molding! The number one complaint I have is that the maintenance people complain about doing their job. How do you complain about such a thing? Maybe if you perform the task correctly you wouldnt have to do-over!
Luxury apartments. Nice views, nice pool. Easy highway access, everything close by v
Mr Dave was great.!
My husband and I thought Signal Hill was a wonderful community and the fact that they are totally dog friendly makes it even more of a desirable place to be.
Before you read this novel, go down the street and sign a lease at The Sutton Apartments, they are more cost effective, larger and twice as nice. This is the first review Ive ever written for anything. Theres no excuse for dishonesty and thats what management is here.- Tenants are animals: loud, obnoxious, rude, no common decency, petty crime; just because you have decent credit doesnt mean you are a decent person.- Parking is overflowing with out of state license plates and individuals blasting music.-Expect alarms to go off a few times and youll evacuate the premises for some idiots cooking or some random leaks.. just hope its not winter.- I have nothing against marijuana, but the place reeks of it. Start sniffing a skunks a$$ to get used it. My movers even made a joke about it.- The trash compactors remind me of when I was in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Google image search Siem Reap trash to get an idea.- People who dont live in the complex will show up to dump trash or snoop around late at night.- Yes, you will pay charges when you move out (see sob story below).- The gym or fitness center is neither...dont be fooled by a few running machines and yoga mats.- Your mailbox will overflow with junk/previous tenants mail.- Their package/parcel service is ineffective and your packages will end up delivered insecurely outside your apartment door for anyone to steal.- My neighbor was evicted in the first few months.- Management will not give you the level of detail you need when asking for assistance so make sure you follow up.- Maintenance Chief is sketchy, dont allow him any access to your room if you arent there. I hope one day we meet again.I paid $150 for a cleaning service that the leasing office offers. It turns out the service is advertised at $125 and so I went to ask for my $25 back, which took asking more than once. During the move out process after I had all of my household goods shipped, I had a walkthrough inspection with the maintenance chief in an empty apartment. He pointed to ONE spot on the ground (which I cleaned, see picture below) and indicated the rest of the apartment was good to go. That took about a whole 10 minutes. Easy to identify issues in an empty apartment right?2 weeks later Im on the other side of the country, starting a new job and starting the move in process again. I get a call that I owe an additional $150 for carpet stains from the UDR Billing HQ (in Colorado). Because you know how those people in billing in Colorado somehow know the tenant issues on a unit in VA. There were $150 stains the maintenance chief missed in an empty 1 BR unit when we inspected together. The maintenance chief reinspects after move out and reports charges to management. So he misses the the $150 carpet stains during the 1st inspection but reports $150 carpet stains the 2nd time. Thats real interesting.Folks, Im a single adult male that lived there 10 months and was out of state for at least 2 months, what kind of $150 stains do you think I was leaving? Yes there very well might have been a small spot on a carpet, but point it out to me when you inspect the room so I can take care of the problem. I could have easily paid $15 for cleaning products at the Dollar Tree. I tried to resolve the issue through management and the UDR billing office. The UDR billing agents ability to comprehend and answer basic questions was like yelling at my toilet to flush. Lets recap:1). I pay $125 for an overpriced cleaning service.2.) My room passes inspection with the maintenance chief.3.) UDR/Signal Hill charges me $150 anyways4.) I pay a total of $275 for cleaning approximately 700 square feet.If you care about cleanliness take care of the trash compactors and clean up the tenants you accept. $150 isnt the issue here, its your lack of principle. And to the agent who writes responses back to these Google reviews, dont waste your time unless you want to reimburse me $150. Then youll really show me how much Signal Hill and UDR Inc care.
First, elevator was broke all the time and we had to walk to 4th floor numerous times. They use one elevator for tenants and people moving in to the building. Maintenance is AWFUL, electrical shorts, NO parking enforcement, charged us $250 for microwave that was working. Dirty hallways not vacummed, cars broken into, electric bills at $175 month, the list goes on. DO NOT MOVE THERE!
HIDDEN FEES AND CHEAP BUILDINGS. When I lived here the apartments were only two years old, my washer and my microwave would break constantly. I could hear EVERYTHING, people opening and closing their doors, running Water flushing their toilets, walking above me. The company makes sure that they dont give you your security deposit back either, the told my the used my amost 1200 dollars to clean the carpet!!!!! I have no pets, no boyfriend no kids! My place was the same as is was on move in day, I didnt even put up a poster!
Clean complex, building crew from maintenance, cleaning to office staff very professional. We enjoyed our time at Signal Hill. Gym facilities, pool and the extra get together functions that the staff provided were great.
The worse place to live in, Waste of money. PLEASE GUYS DONT GO HERE, THEY ARE SCAMMERS. Crimes all the times. I always found my car open and things taken out of it. The apartment was dirty had ants and cockroaches. The staff were really rude with nasty attitude. Im glad I dont live there anymore.
Love the pool this is the best community ever i love the gym i do not need to work out at home my favorite is the game room i played some games before
I lived at Signal Hill for almost a year, I chose them because the neighborhood seemed quiet and the apartment felt cozy. One thing I didn’t like was all the extra fees that were added on to the rent, such as parking ($5 for one car is fine but an extra $25 for another is a bit extreme). Once you include all the fees, the rent almost doubles. The staff is very friendly and always helpful when needed, and I always appreciated how fast my maintenance request got fulfilled. The apartments are cozy and it’s cool how they come with a tv (they will also remove their tv and allow you to use their mount for your own if you choose ). The walls are extremely thin, I could always hear my neighbor turning on the kitchen sink, closing cabinets, flushing, showering & the most annoying of all would be when my neighbor would get busy with her significant other and i’d have to fall asleep to their “noises”. Another thing I didn’t like was how you could hear everything outside (especially in the apartments facing the large parking lot). It would be extremely annoying when I would be awoken from my sleep in the middle of the night bc of someone revving up their bike engines in the middle of the night, or pulling up with their music blasting (the echo effect made it sound like it was all literally happening on my balcony). Also, the neighbors there were a little annoying, I would constantly hear a couple arguing on their balcony across the lot, and one time I came home to find police outside the building because of another domestic dispute. (This has nothing to do with the complex itself but these are somethings I would of liked to know when I was first apartment hunting). Anyways, I really liked how dog friendly this complex is, almost everyone owns a dog here. The gym, and pool were nice too, they even have a end of summer pool party for the dogs which was really cool. They also do a lot of events for the residents which is nice for those looking to meet their neighbors. I would not recommend this complex to people who have little kids though, the locks on the doors are hotel style, meaning if you lock the door on the inside, someone on the outside can’t open it, however if you’re on the inside all you have to do is pulll of the knob and the door automatically unlocks and opens. So if you have little kids this could definitely be a hazard. However, this could be improved if they would change the locks or simply add a security chain to the doors. This complex would be most ideal for couples with no kids, or singles. Over all I had a good experience, the only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because of the thinness of the walls and the neighbors.
I have lived at Signal Hill apartments for five years. I love the staff and the community.
Expect to pay a lot of fees when you move. Went away on orders and my rent increased twice in 6 months. Also had to pay additional fees for a specified cleaning company upon departure of the apartment. Considering I was barely there you can imagine this left me a bit disgruntled. I like the area but the staff and the trust just arent there.
Terrible experience in my year living here. Bottom line up front: DONT MOVE IN HERE! Heres the lowlights if you want details:- Paper thin walls. You will hear EVERYTHING that is going on above you and next to you.- Towing. The parking policy is ridiculous. If you have a friend stop by and you didnt coordinate a parking pass (which is good for one day) then you are screwed. You cant just invite a friend over without prior coordination. I had 3 friends towed in 9 months. It costs $160 each time to get your car back.- The staff is all excited and nice as they show you the place. Once you sign and move in, they couldnt care less about you. Customer service is non existent.- Crime... several break ins and stolen vehicles during my time here (June 2011- June 2012). They will sugar coat this and lie to you when you are shown the place.- The way you pay rent and request service for your apartment is through this crappy web based program. If you try and get some service from the front office, they just refer you to the site.- Tons of dogs in the complex. Dont get me wrong, I love dogs; Ive got 2 of them. But no one picks up after their dogs here and there is dog poop everywhere. Lots of people dont take care of their dogs or train them and they bark all day. I had two neighbors that had dogs that would bark all day.In summary, Im in the military and have lived in a lot of places. This is the worst overall experience Ive ever had. The apartments are actually relatively nice inside. Its a shame they didnt build the place a little better and provide a little customer service along the way. I HIGHLY recommend you look elsewhere. The place shows nice... youll feel good about it after your tour. And then you will be sorely dissappointed for how ever long you live here. Just being honest.
Thin walls, parking problem, rude management, unsafe and yes you can hear your neighbors doing everything next door.
This property and staff are AMAZING!
Never live here.
I forget
WAS JUST WONDERFUL
