I showed up to pick up my truck and nobody was in the office, I stood there for several minutes and ended up calling the store to get someone to come out of the back. I was quoted $355 on the phone and the guy at the desk, without clarifying charged me $450. Apparently the discounts that were applied over the phone and the price I was quoted didn’t show up on his end and he made no effort to clarify pricing before charging me. He did correct the situation and change the price, but I have to wait days for the money to be returned to my card, where if he would have confirmed the price, it wouldn’t have been an issue. The customer service definitely needs some work.

Brandon set up my rental and he was great to speak with, but apparently he doesn’t not work there anymore. Hopefully he moved on to a better company. I won’t be renting here again and I am sure they don’t care. I don’t leave reviews so this is a big deal for me. Had a difficult time with the manager a few weeks ago when I was speaking with him. Joe needs some lessons on customer service and seemed to argue with me about everything. His current employees are just as rude as he is. I think these employees need to be retrained if not fired.

We went with Penske because they offered a better deal than U-Haul for a One-Way trip with 16’ truck. Ex: more days to drop-off plus a bigger truck for a better price. Or at least that’s what we thought. Our pick-up time was changed to 1 hr and a half later, so when we dropped-off we thought we also had extra time. We were not told otherwise. Now they want to charge us $103 for an extra day! Also, we took pictures of all the damages the truck had on the day we picked it up, including the windshield. We were told they needed to investigate the picture of the windshield to check if they needed to charge us for any damages. The guy on the phone at this location was rude, unkind and not supportive. We will never go with Penske again. They are deceiving and not understanding. Especially in times like this, in the middle of a pandemic. My family and I moved to Wilmington because of my husband’s job during this pandemic, otherwise we would not have required to rent a truck to move. We are so disappointed.

Update: I am updating my review just like another customer below did. I am astounded with your reply, Penske Truck Rental. You did not even bother to address the issues we had. Pathetic.Original Review: I am giving two starts only because the Carolina Beach Road store did a good job and saved the day. We were going to pick up from this store, but after speaking with Mr. Joseph and dealing with his dismissive demeanor, I changed my mind. My daughter did call and speak with someone to let them know what happened. They suggested we still pick up, but instead go to a different store and I am glad we did that.

This review is on the manager at this location, Joe. Extremely rude and unprofessional. He has also gone on several dating sites to harass multiple women, being extremely aggressive and unsettling. I would hope that Penske would have chosen someone better to represent their company.

After a long drive I couldn’t find my paperwork and thought I was running behind. I called a few times and couldn’t get anyone to answer. When I called the online number I finally got to speak with someone but he was not at the location. he had trouble getting the people too and he ended up transferred me to Sara who worked there. Turns out I wasn’t running behind and was able to ask a few questions while I had her on the phone. Thank you all for taking the time to help me and my mom. I am glad we were not late.

Rented a truck from them last weekend for one day, was quoted $20 a day plus miles, etc, yet I was charged $64 a day. Didnt notice until I checked my bank account that they had actually charged me $78 for the day, miles etc, I drove 15 miles. Spoke at length with assistant manager Brandon regarding the situation, he finally credited me a partial refund. Lesson learned, will never use Penske again.

Decent trucks. A little pricey, but pretty reliable and good service.

In my opinion, Penske has the best van and truck rental business in the United States. I highly recommend them.

Moving is stressful enough. We asked for a ramp and they gave us a lift gate, but didnt show us how to use it. There were a lot of buttons that we were unfamiliar with and no explanation. The truck was dirty inside and the gas was not full. Makes you question spending $600 here when Uhaul is a few blocks away.

Loved the truck and my pick up location in CO, but hated the place I turned my truck into on market street in wilmington. I rented a few weeks ago and the manager at the office was rude and told me if I didn’t like what he was saying than I was crazy and it wasn’t him who had the problem. He told me “I feel sorry for you if you can’t understand.” This all happened because I had trouble refueling the big truck. There is a trick to making sure it is full that I wasn’t aware of. I told them to charge me but I wanted to speak to the manager because I had some issues with my rental and this is how he spoke to me. I just moved here to take over my uncles business and thought about using Penske. Now I won’t. I will go to Uhaul or buy my own truck.

This place is horrible, they have the worst customer service in Wilmington. I was overcharged 3 times and a manager wont even call you back. Take my advice, go to Uhaul insteadUpdate: received a phone call a few days AFTER we returned the truck asking if we broke a quarter panel (which we did not). (furthermore, we ALWAYS get the full insurance).Now a month later we are getting collection calls for $733 for a quarter panel that someone else broke. This place is absolutely horrible!!!!

Will never rent through them again! Awful experience! I reserved a moving truck at the Leland location and go to pick it up and they have the wrong vehicle there it’s a van instead, so I have to go all the way out of my way to there Market St. location in Wilmington to get what I reserved! I was also quoted a price with 60 miles and apparently was lied to because when I called to break down the pricing and see why I was charged what I was charged apparently my contract was only for 40 miles and that’s not what I was told! This place sucks!

After renting a truck that leaked on the inside of the cab down the drivers seat back and complaining when returning the truck, all I received was rude commentary from the rep at the counter and an assurance the manager would call me. Still no call two months later after attempting to contact multiple times. GO ELSEWHERE

Unbelievable, dropped a tractor off Saturday morning for service and a bumper repair and still here Wednesday afternoon waiting for the bumper to be delivered..

I was told by the female employee that I would get my $150 deposit back no later than five days after returning the truck. Five days later, I called Corporate and they said up to ten days! I asked Preston at Corporate, So the girl at the Penske store just lied to me by saying five days? and he replied saying yes. Never again.
