So far I have spoken with two older women therpist and I have to say they were horrible. The fist women spoke about her problems and her other clients during my sessions. The recently new women Ruth was the worst. She actually triggered trauma and wasnt empathic at all about how that made me feel. Therapist should actually be non judgemental and conpationate with their clients. Also one of the intake women called me Jennifer! My names is Jessica! I am so fed up with is office already. They have me set to see another women but...I have little to no hope in this office.
I worked here for years, so my review will be biased, but I would strongly suggest that you look for an agency, and a therapist, with a strong background in therapy, with good morals, ethics and values, and a therapist and an agency that is a good fit for you. I would encourage anyone considering this agency to read all the reviews and possibly look into other options that may be a better fit. There are many amazing therapists who work here, however; most individuals may better be served by an agency with a better feel for what individual client needs are and how needs can be better addressed in a safer, individualized, honest and more ethically sound way. Don’t give up hope, there is a good fit out there for everyone, sometimes it just takes a little bit of patience! Don’t stop considering other options, there are so many amazing agencies out there who can help give people the support that they need and deserve. Everyone deserves to feel better, never stop trying it’s a time to get agency, and to get therapist, who might be a good fit for you!
The therapist that I see here is truly excellent, caring and compassionate. The facilities need a face-lift, however...
I just received 3 calls, 2 with caller ID, and 1 with it blocked as well as a voicemail from this company in the span of 4 minutes today. When I called back I wasnt even the person they were looking for and when I said she was extremely unprofessional for calling me 3 times in a row off of a referral she hung up on me mid sentence. This is NOT how you call someone after a referral, and I wasnt even the person she was looking for.
If you are looking for counseling, I would highly recommend Wilmington Family Counseling. Having gotten to know everyone, I can attest to their dedication to creating an excellent place for healing and growth. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma or any of lifes challenges I would encourage you to reach out to Wilmington Family Counseling and their therapists.Empathy, kindness, practicality, wisdom and intelligence - are the qualities needed in a therapist. Mallory Horgan is rich in these qualities, and is soooo comfortable to be with because of her warmth. She is right there when needed and knows when to step back and let you draw your own conclusions. Perfect!
Ive been coming here for some time, and I have to say Ive had no problems at all. The doctor I see is more than competent and professional. I can truly say, hes made life much easier for me and has gotten me through some hard times.
I received an appointment time within a few days of calling. The therapist I met with was licensed and very experienced and was very impressed with her style and expertise. I especially liked the receptionist who greets me with a smile and directed me to the waiting room. I have met with my therapist a number of times and feel listened to and have actually gotten better and less depressed.
Ive been coming here for about a year and I have no complaints. I feel like its been helping me.
Don’t bother coming here if you’re a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. They don’t want to be bothered with you or your trauma. After almost two years of trying to find a therapist - and constantly being referred elsewhere - I was sent here from a partial program for weekly counseling. I started talking to my therapist, only to be told RIGHT AFTER describing my trauma history that I would need to go somewhere else. And by the way, they had my file from the day program, with all of this history in it, but they waited until I wasted gas driving to that appointment to tell me that I wasn’t going to get any help from them. So once again, I have to spend years going through the runaround of finding a therapist on my own.I drove home from that appointment in tears.
The absolute worst of mental health providers! Karen LaBreque saw my son twice and dismissed him from her care telling him she couldnt help him, and to go to Gamblers Anonymous! She was uncaring, non compassionate, and cold. Cant get much worse than that. The mental health system is difficult enough to navigate without counselors like her. What was she expecting when she went into this field? 23 years of experience and shes burned out.
This is a terrible awful place to go. The therapists actually traumatize the children, scarring them for life. They do not care about you or your child. They only care about what they get out of this. Do Not send your kid there!
Ive been coming to Wilmington Family Counselling for about 7 years now. Ive watched it change and grow into a more professional facility. My first counselor wasnt a great fit. I felt judged and she told me what I should do and when I should do it. Maybe it was because I was 16 and naive at the time and was suffering from a broken heart. ha ha but anyways. I was seeing Kristy which was a Med provider for teens. The Med combination was a success and I didnt feel like a zombie. It took a lot of patients but we finally got it. I was stupid and moved out at 18 with an ex and I had to stop going to WFC. After a year I decided to come back. I was seeing a different med provider and well it wasnt a good match. so I lost hope and stopped. After a year and suffering from paralyzing anxiety and PTSD from my previous relationship, I had no choice but to try out meds again. Its only been 2 months and its still a working progress. Its all about being patient with this type of help. You just cant give up. Keep trying and it will all work out in the end. You need the will power and its hard I know, but if you want to get better you will do it.
Really, ALAN WEBER IS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND he gets to write a review?!?! That just seems silly.WHAT A REVIEW, ALAN!!!! SERIOUSLY? MY experience was horrible. Theyve refused to see me after THEY messed up MY BILLING(I was making payments all along, BTW). After MY moving forward, trying to resolve a billing issue since LAST November they have REFUSED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, but just ignore me instead. In January 2016, (after a couple of months of trying to figure out this bill and stating several times how I want to pay my bill but just needed help answering a few billing questions) I was informed that all balances need to be paid off or they will not provide treatment. My appointments that were already made were canceled by the provider, but somehow I was still charged! Instead of my issue being resolved they continued to send me bills, every bill with a different Balance Due(after I already was refused treatment) after I had stopped going. They actually charged me for other appointments that were canceled BY The PROVIDER and double charged me in the same day or week. So, what I seem to have figured out (after countless hours of investigating their billing that they cant figure out)They give you one account number, even though they require you see 2 separate people (and are so adamant about setting up all those appointments- that you likely wont be charged properly for) but when they dont apply the payments properly they refuse me medical care. Is it not the responsibility of the billing department to correctly apply these payments??!?!No problem taking my payments, but when its time to apply it correctly they fail miserably. When I ask the billing department to explain why certain charges seemed confusing and asked for more clairification before I pay my bill get response was this: I know, it seems confusing, right!? I agree.Ummm... Is this for real?!?Now I am sick because I am unable to receive the proper medication and mental health care that I need. Im shaking, neasous, jittery and cant go to anywhere because my medication has run out. THANK YOU ALAN WEBER AND WILMINGTON FAMILY COUNSELING!!!! YOU DID THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF YOUR JOB!!!! SUCK! I seriously cant get over the amazingly glowing recommendation that the actual executive director Alan Weber wrote below ...of his very own service!
