Husband and I were looking for a counselor to help me get over past issues of trust and other general marital issues. Mr. Murphy saw us maybe 4 times, in that amount of time I had to repeatedly remind him of why were there and what we wanted to work on, and he frequently went off topic to talk about himself and his life. He completely insulted me during one appointment and belittled/minimized feelings I was having. I thought he seemed inexperienced and out of touch, but my husband insisted I give him a few more chances. One week I contacted him to change our appointment time by a couple hours and he informed me he had planned a vacation during the time of the appointment. He didnt reach out to me to cancel the appointment so Im thankful I reached out to change the time, otherwise we would have shown up to an empty office, and it was extremely difficult to carve out those appt times with 3 kids, but did it because we knew we needed it. After that missed appointment he completely ghosted us. No email/call saying he was retiring or no longer wanted to work with us, no email/call to schedule another appointment, zero contact. If you are serious about marital counseling and fixing your relationship this guy is not a good choice, find someone else.
