Reserved a car online. Called ahead of time to confirm my reservation. They also said they accept all debit and credit cards. Went there to today to pick up the car and they wouldnt accept my debit card, even though the lady on the phone said they did. They only accept certain debit and credit cards. While I was in there another customer returned a car because it had problems. This looks real bad for the company. I wont be renting any cars from Hertz.
First, we were given a smaller car than wed put on our reservation. 2nd, we were told by the agent who processed our reservation at the location that since we had AAA we would NOT have to pay the extra driver fee BUT when we were checked out the next day we WERE CHARGED the fee! I called the location and asked for a refund, was told no at first because we had made the ressie via my Expedia account, I told them I would be coming down in person to talk to them about the refund. I quickly received a text from an agent stating I would have my refund within 2 weeks. It has been 2 weeks and NO REFUND to my AMEX card! Will NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ AGAIN! This is the 2nd time Ive had issues with Hertz, there are other companies in town who I will rent from should the occasion arise again that I need a rental car.

I have many issues with my experience at this hertz and the recent customer experience I have experienced with hertz after that.1. I waited almost 2 hours for my car. 15 mins of that was waiting for the people in front of me(understandable). The rest of the time was the receptionist just working with us.2. Technical issues-she could not figure out why she couldnt check the car out to us for 30ish mins. so we switched cars to no avail and then when that still didnt work we had to wait for her to call customer service. Turns out she hadnt checked the cars in yet and thats why she couldnt check them out3. none of the cars were cleaned since she was working alone. Someone from the previous rental enjoyed some peanuts in our car, along with a few fast food runs, so we needed to clean it. There was a line when we left and I didnt want to make their waiting time any longer than it already was so I paid to get a car wash and vacuumed out the car myself (30mins of my time)4. When we left the car was on Empty beeping at me. She had forgotten to put gas in my car. I called and she said to fill it up and send in the receipt and I would be reimbursed. 2 months later and 40 business days later no one has reimbursed me for that. They actually refuse to and say they are not able to reimburse me for that with anything other than store credit, even though the employee said it would be no problem.5. The receptionist never once apologized for all of this, I think she was new, so I get that, but there was no sense of urgency either. We were on vacation and missed an event because it took so much longer than expected.6. I filed a complaint with hertz that day, and never heard back, I called a few weeks later, and they said I would hear back soon, I called 2 months post my rental experience and they said I would hear back soon.... no way am I hearing back anytime soon... so annoying and frustrating

Staff was friendly and helpful. Car did what I needed it to do. 4 stars because It was filthy when I got it and I had to take it to the carwash myself (they did pay). One of the tires was undersized and making some road noise and the passenger seat had a loose bolt causing the seat to rattle while driving. Car was a 2020 Malibu.

Just tried to rent a car in an emergency. I’m on disability and my only income is SSI which goes on a debit card. They would not accept that or cash! So, while my daughter is on her way to Virginia in my vehicle I have nothing and I am the primary caretaker for my Mom who is in Hospice’s care. I happen to carry my Mom’s credit card (with permission) but of course she had to be there to sign with her drivers license. What a joke! I would have given a 0 but that wasn’t an option.
Staff is friendly and professsional but when you rent a specific type of car ONLINE and it says its available and willing to take your money you should get the car you reserved and not have to deal with the Bait and Switch. I specifically reserved a Suburban Online and it accepted my reservation. I have a family of 5 and needed the seating and extra space in trunk. I also needed 4x4 so no a mini-van doesnt work nor does a Tahoe with no trunk space. Was told the suburban only adds 1 ft compared to teh Tahoe. Well One foot makes all the difference between needing one or two cars. We still had to take a 2nd car.
Rented a SUV for a week for nearly half the price of an Enterprise vehicle. Very quick service. They made it extremely easy.

We had a major car problem on vacation and were stranded at a campground in Carolina Beach. Other car rental places didn’t have cars or wouldn’t pick us up. I called here and they had someone out to us within the hour. Put us in a car right away and took care of us. Really appreciated.
I had rented with Hertz about 7 months ago and it was fine. But i went in today an was not able to rent a car and i had reservation total disappointment. I would not give them a star but it wont let me post.
Although I am initially wanted a minivan but because of the summer months I was unable to get one. I received the Nissan Pathfinder it drove beautifully. I had no problems. I had full coverage which was great because the second driver had an accident. I was able to return the car with absolutely no problem.
Absolutely terrible. Dropped off the rental during after hours and called once they opened to verify they received everything and closed out my receipt and said I was good to go. A month later they call saying I never returned it and I would be liable... took a month to sort out this mess. Unprofessional and completely unsatisfied with this branch
I had a reservation with another company across the town and they forgot my reservation and then not have it car for me after I was ready to take a whole week trip and I felt left into the dark. Having to take an old vehicle that could have been broken down on my trip I stopped to the Market Street Hertz office and they took me in with great service opened handshakes and very professional and they just had one car and they let me take it quickly and actually cheaper than I was going to pay and when I brought it back with no extra charges and it was a very good experience for me so I can travel to see my grand babies healthier and less stressed! I thank you very much!
Ive been renting a car from here over the last 4 months or so because my BMW was recalled and there gentlemen are awesome. They are always so nice when I come in. I needed a car with leather seats and they accommodated me perfectly with a nice Buick. I definitely give each and every employee here 5 stars. Best rental car company in Wilmington!
The sales guy asked me to give him a chance. I booked a FULL SIZE car for a week. I get there and they tell me a Nissan altima is my car...not a full size car. I argue and sales guy basically tells me too bad, all I have. Though when I started to book at another agency he offered to upgrade me to a ford escape for $70 more. No thank you. I went with my FAVORITE rental agency, BUDGET CAR RENTAL at the airport. Got a full size Chevy Malibu for $100 less than the full size rental through hertz. They also charge no security deposit as long as you pay with a credit card. Hertz charges $200, and my husband is included without signing or showing Id or any additional charges! Hertz wanted an additional $15? Each day for my husband and he had to come in with me...quite the hassle! Go to BUDGET. They are FANTASTIC!!! This was my 7th rental with Budget and I will be back every time I need a car! I gave you a shot Hertz, way to disappoint!

The worst service ever, the cars drove fine but they dont work with the customer with the insurance company. They just steal you money out of your account. I would reconsider renting from them...
Niell is the best in the business I use his location almost daily for customers and I have used him personally and he is the easiest and most professional guy to work with. Not to mention his drivers that come to pick you are are good ol boys who are always good for conversation or a good laugh
I recently rented a car from Hertz, downtown. Chris was fantastic - so pleasant, professional and did what she said she would do. And, the manager took care of a challenge for me as well. Great people, great service it was a great experience.
Cant check credit prior to visit. Wasted my time. All that credit stuff is discrimination as I was going to pay for the rental and insurance. I wasnt trying to finance a vehicle purchase.
First interaction the representative was training so I’ll give him that but overall not great customer service.SECOND visit a representative is sitting outside on the bench think nothing of it walk in. No one else in view in the store. Yell and not softly three times to see if anyone was available. Walk out front to the employee that waved at us before walking in to get him inside. He casually walk to the back the other rep very rudely ask me for the keys and storms out the door. Comes back in and ended the interaction politely and did explain everything. Overall terrible experience with return and pickup.
I recently had the unpleasant experience of renting a car from this location. Not only were they out of cars the fist time I tried to pick up but when I finally got the car it was visibly dirty and almost out of gas. Awesome.On top of the condition of my vehicle every employee that I came in contact with seemed like they had a different personality disorder. I was not greeted with a Hi, how can I help you? instead, Returning? Give me your keys. Rude much? When the time came to return my car on the scheduled day the office was empty with only a phone number to call for assistance. What kind of business closes during normal operating hours? Upon calling customer service I was told They are picking up cars at the airport and you will have to wait for them to return. So, after waiting 30 mins for someone to show up I was then told the car was too dirty and that I would be fined $50. After I had cleaned the vehicle to spotless perfection I was informed that I would be charged an additional late fee for taking the time to clean. WHAT. Overall a complete nightmare with no redeeming factors. I would go anywhere else before going to Hertz again.Aside from all the ridiculous rules, fees, and conditions I was not treated the way a customer, or for that matter, a human being should be treated. Locals be warned.

Professional, friendly, accommodating, are some of the words I would use to describe the employees at this particular Hertz location. I tend to rent from hertz often, and this location was well above average in the customer service category.
Traveling from out of state, we had an emergency need for a rental and they were very accommodating and got us into a car quickly.
I recently rented a car from this Hertz location because Enterprise was out of cars. Not only did they have a car availible for me with no advance notice, but exhibited GREAT customer service and had a much cleaner and better equipped car than what I used to get from Enterprise. Ill be renting from Hertz from now on!
I just picked up a rental car from this location. My 2016 Subaru STI is being repaired currently. In return I received a dirty Kia Rio. I am highly disappointed in this rental company to not even have the decency to hand me the keys to a clean car, or to compare my car to this one. I understand it is just a rental for a few days. However, I had an appointment with them so they expected me and should have been prepared. There is dry dirt marks up the passenger side of the vehicle, along with a rim that is chipped. If I could post pictures in this review I would have. I hope to never have to use this company again if I ever need a rental. The only reason this review is receiving a 2 star is because at least they had a car to give me.
I was in Wilmington with my motorhome and needed to rent a car. I had made reservations at Enterprise but when I arrived, they were out of cars (so a reservation is useless). I had an appointment downtown and no car to drive. I was not happy. I called Hertz and a nice young man told me to come there - he had a car coming in soon. He made a phone call and got me a nice Kia Soul in about 30 minutes. Saved the day. I will not rent from Enterprise again - Im a Hertz guy!

Run do not walk from this rental agency. They tried to claim I had smoked in the car and ran up tons of extra charges. The agent straight up lied about the smell in the car. A total of 3 other employees couldnt smell it at all.It took me actually going into a rant and running other customers out that they took all the extra charges off.
Dissatisfied had an accident with my vehicle it was very unprepared very unproductive and not nice people at all very dissatisfied they suck
