Wades is a cool barber shop that confidently sticks with the old if it aint broke... model when it comes to mens haircuts.Pricepoint? 12 bucks. Cant beat it.John is the younger gentleman (Wade is the owner) who takes his time and NEEDS you to leave happy (rare these days). He approaches every fade with patience and skill. Further, he has more hardware/tools than an aircraft carrier and uses ALL of them. We identified a dark patch to go back over and even up; he addressed the patch immediately and smoothed it out. John is generous with both his time and backstory. John will find a way to connect with you before he busts out the fine edger and straight razor.Salons? Keep em!We look forward to our next trip to see our Wilmington friends, Wrightsville beach, and getting buttered up at Wades.

Great place to get hair cut

Just went to Wades for the first time since my regular Barber of over 5 years decided to change his schedule once again making it difficult to go get my hair cut. I get an old school military flattop, which a surprisingly few Barbers in this town know how to do properly. When I walked in Wades assistant was busy cutting a guys hair and wow, was he fast at it! He moved like a well oiled machine and from what I could see did a fantastic job in about 5 minutes flat. Wade was finishing his lunch and then came over and had me hop in the chair. I gave him a rough idea of what I wanted since saying military flattop to many will get different results. A #2 on the sides and the top the height of a combs thickness. He went to work and actually did the entire top freehand, no guard on the clippers. He was done in about 15 minutes and considering the mop I was sporting when I walked in there is very impressive. Finished it off with a hot shave on the sides and back of the neck. I was left with a flattop so well done you could set a glass on the top of my head and it wouldnt spill or fall. Excellent haircut and for only $12? I think I found my new place. Just remember they only take cash and to leave them a good tip as well as review since they certainly deserve it! 8-5 M-F and open until 2 on Saturdays.

I have been going to Wade’s about 25 years, starting when he was on the other side of the airport. When my wife saw me in a flat top in my HS album she asked me to hive it a try. After I got home from Wade’s it was so good she told me to call Wade for her and let him know that was the best cut EVER😊. So yes, 5+ stars. For the person who said she heard a racist joke, I never have.

Highly recommended to get a cut and shave from Wades. Much better than sports cuts great clips or any other chain stylist and at a cheaper price. Hard to find a better straight razor shave.

Ive taken my grandfather here on a number of occasions and he was always well attended.

This is a no frills, regular old barber shop in north Wilmington. Like a place your grandparents would take you to. Thats not a bad thing! I can appreciate a barber that doesnt rely on gimmicky branding to get your business.I had a great haircut from here for 12 bucks. Thats what youd pay at Great Clips, but youll get a much better cut here. Its easy-going, they make you feel welcome, and they do great work. They have become my go-to.

Wade and John are very professional barbers. Wade has been my barber for about 35 years.

Chris was very knowledgeable about men and womens hair needs along with hair products. Wade was very patient with my two and half year (had a breakdown) and did a good job! My youngest even said he hair felt much better after his hair cut and out of his eyes. I will be going back to take my both my sons and myself! They mainly take cash, if you use a card there will be a $3 charge. Thank you guys!
