I recently flew across the country to drive home my late grandfathers commuter car. These guys dropped everything on several occasions to accommodate my ridiculous plans. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Great shop.

The workers at Karl’s Automotive are SO helpful and kind!! Especially Cliff and Ricky. My friend and I were on the way home from the beach when her check engine and battery light came on. We didn’t want to drive all the way to Charlotte so we stopped here to get the car checked. They checked the car within an hour, walked us through everything we needed to know, and assured us we could make it back to Charlotte. We are so grateful!

I’ve had some terrible luck in the past with car repair companies and dealerships. However, this company has really impressed me with their quality work and wonderful customer service. I’ve been a few times for oil changes, tire rotations, and brakes. I’ve always received fair prices and great, professional advice. This is where I will be going from now on for my car needs.

Everyone dreads finding an honest reliable mechanic. This is where I was before I was referred to Karls. I have 4 used vehicles that seem to always need something done. Karl and his crew are amazing every single time. The cost is always reasonable, Ive had absolutely no issues with the dozens of repairs Ive had done there in the last two years. You cant put a price on the peace of mind you get from knowing youll always get an honest answer/repair with your vehicle. Sometime you do need to give them a call to find out whats going on but Ill do that all day long knowing Im being treated right. Theyve even gone out of their way for me when I was really in need with urgent repairs. Really cant say enough good things about Karls.I also noticed that two of the one star reviews came from people who frequent the same areas and made at the same time. Quite a coincidence.

Ive been taking my car(s) to Karl for years now. No one better in the business. As a UNCW student it can be difficult to know where to go/who to trust with your car. But Karl and his team never led my astray. They were honest about what actually needed to be fixed (& what could wait) and always gave me the best price. I was referred to Karls by two other customers. I called in and got friendly and helpful service from John. Brought my car in, they fully tested it both hot and cold and gave me several solutions for repair. While there I met Anita who was referred by her brother-in-law. She was fabulous and we all had a grand ol time in the tiny waiting room. I was treated more than fairly by friendly and knowledgeable professionals. You cant make everyone happy. I would recommend Karls Automotive without hesitation!

Great place to get your vehicle worked on. Small 2 bay shop, usually best if you make an apt. but depending on what you need done, you can be in and out in the same day. Great rate and pricing.

My son attends UNCW. Both Mandy and Levi were attentive and true to their word. I was looking for a small, privately-owned shop with people I could trust. Levi found the coolant leaks, replaced just the necessary parts, oil changed and inspected the vehicle within our time frame and budget. They gained a thankful customer!

I have been getting my car fixed here for the last 16 years. Karl is honest, thorough, and more than willing to work with you and your budget. He always explains what issues must to be fixed vs what you can wait on.I drive a 2000 model year vechical that runs like new, all thanks to Karl. The location is a little hidden (almost in the back of another business), but dont let that stop you.

This is by far the most honest car repair place I have ever been. To the point I offered to pay them more than they wanted.

Do not ever come to this mechanic shop worst in nc . You will lose your job and get lied to and want get car back for over three weeks you are Better off doing it your self they will lie to you and put cheap parts on and my car broke down 5 times after I left there shop had to pay to get towed back . Do not waste your time I am warning you they are terrible all of them have a bad attitude and if you get warranty you can forget it they want take back they will say it’s something else

Karl is rude and condescending. He may be good to his local patrons but not to others. This is surprising given the university has so many out of towners. I cannot, under any circumstance, understand the use of profanity when speaking to a paying customer.

Unfortunately this place was a referral from a local customer of 20+ years. I am a UNC-W parent, and my student’s car broke down and was towed by AAA to this shop. Johnny at the shop was very helpful explaining the repairs and costs associated with the repairs. However, no one called me back or made the repairs as they said they would. I called many times that afternoon and the next morning to find out about the car. Sadly “Karl” answered the phone and could not have been any more rude. He was absolutely pathetic in his customer service dealing with me. I suppose he doesn’t want a good reputation nor income from repairs. I hope no one else has to experience his poor attitude, and I do not recommend any parent trusting their student’s car to him. Sadly the other reviews appear very good and helpful, but there is no way I would recommend this place to a UNC-W parent who is need of auto repairs for a student. I made AAA aware also.

I have been taking my vehicles to Karls for years. They are super honest and have never ever tried to upsell services. These are the guys I have brought potential purchases to look over and theyve been honest about what they saw or didnt see. Over the years We have brought an 86 k5 blazer, a 97 wrangler, and 89 s10 blazer, 2 accords, and Ill be taking my FJ in for service this week. Far and away the best old fashioned get it done types. They NEVER talk down to me because I am a woman. The prices are incredibly reasonable. Theyre just really solid. And you dont have to deal with slimy service department types at the dealers (most of which have absolutely no idea what they are doing). I couldnt recommend them higher and I send everyone I know to them.

Karls Auto is a great place to have your car worked on. Ive been going there for several months with my truck that constantly has issues. They offer a student discount and have extremely reasonable prices.

Ive been going to Karls for 5 years. I have always been treated with honesty and respect. I have been told what was worth fixing, what could wait, and when to catch a minor problem before it became a major issue. I will continue to bring the familys cars to them as long as theyll have me as a customer.

Took car here to get a new starter. When we picked it up the AC compressor was not working. They disavowed responsibility, but not so fast. The laws in NC say if you are in possession of anothers property then any damage incurred to it while in your possession is typically the holders responsibility. There were a bevy of things not reattached or loose in the car, as well. It cost almost a thousand dollars to fix what happened in their store. We intend to seek repayment from this establishment shortly. Hopefully not through court.
