Ive worked in the automotive service industry for over 20 years, and the staff at this NTB are top-notch! They go above and beyond to be extremely helpful and do a great job keeping our church bus on the road so we can serve the community. I had new brakes and calipers installed and the brakes dont work or stop the vehicle in a safe manner. I took it back to get the brakes readjusted and the mechanic who worked on it, was stubborn and bullheaded and refused to see that the brakes dont work. I will be contacting my lawyer tomorrow to let him know that it this vehicle runs into another vehicle. That this letter to NTB, servers as a legal record that they refuse to support the brakes and calipers installed on my vehicle. If anyone is seriously injured because of the mechanic not properly installing the brakes. To investigate NTB 532 2nd St, Williamsburg, VA 23185. They will make your car unsafe and unroadworthy. Dangerous to public health and safety.

NTB Williamsburg usually does a great job with service and communication. However, this time they dropped the ball. I received no phone to tell me that my vehicle was complete.I requested 3 items be completed upon receiving the final invoice it appeared that the oil had been changed as requested but there was no advice provided for the 2 other items requested.Their failure to notify me that my vehicle was complete cost me additional money due having to take a cab the following morning after calling them to learn that my vehicle was complete.Upon arrival my vehicle was still in the bay in the air and that was 30 minutes after my phone call. So apparently it wasnt ready when I placed the call and was told that it was, not to mention I was told it would be ready the same day it was dropped off. This cost me time from work and extra money for their failure to communicate honestly. With all that being said I dont believe that the other items requested were completed or even given a glance. Im very disappointed in yesterday/todays service!

I made an appointment online to have my tires replaced at the NTB in Williamsburg VA. I order tires that were specific for my vehicle.After 3 hours of waiting, my vehicle was finally ready. After paying for the service and the key was returned to me, I notice my vehicle looked different. I couldnt inspect them properly because it was dark outside. I got home and noticed that the wrong size tire was on. I took my vehicle back the next day and I was told that the size was incorrect. I had to come back once again because the tires was unavailable. I was charged more even though they made a mistake. My experience was nerve wrecking. They were supposed to be the experts and they put the wrong size tires on my vehicle thinking because I am a woman that I wouldnt know the difference.

The Gloucester locations is absolutely horrible and I figured this one would be better and it definitely was not. Prices are ridiculous and the person who answered the phones is rude. Did not identify himself when he answered and seemed irritated when I asked for a price quote and when I said thank you, he just hung up on me before I could finish my sentence. Definitely need to work on customer service and make sure your techs know what they’re talking about before having them work on vehicles.

Great service on a Sunday morning on the way to a Mothers day celebration of two generations of Moms.However, things looked gloom when we stopped at a service station to check out my lowair pressure in your right front tire alert.We were able to get back on the road in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish our 90 mile trek, even though we didnt have an appointment.The manager Redd was terrific. Great service, great price, & satisfied customers. THANKS!

Eddie did a great job getting me to come in with a price match, but when he gets you in the door..BEWARE. They will price gouge you every chance they can. Showed me defective parts, however quoted verbally and on paper $582, but then forgot to add on multiple items trying to get me for $788. Watch the smooth talking. Makes you think hes getting you a deal with fancy VIP 10% discounts. Will not return and ensuring all others know of the shady dealings. Very friendly, not up front though.

These guys are the worst I ever been, want to change the oil, I end up paying over $100 of something I didnt ask for. Inspection is the worst, they want me to pay over $200 for break light switcher which was not even the problem it was a fuse that coast a few bucks for set, when I said Im doing myself he act so rude poor customer service. professional Thiefs. Never going back there again.

Been waiting over an hour for my oil change. It has never taken this long for me to get my oil change. When I ask whats the hold up, they claim its because they have other cars ahead of me. When I said I was basically like the second person in and one of the earliest appointments in the morning, they claim its because of a backlog. I literally called in advance for an appointment just the day before. If they were this backed up, whats the point of making appointments? You seriously need to hire an operations consultant or pay your people more to get something as simple as an oil change done quicker. I have never experienced longer than a 20 to 30 min oil change anywhere else. Will definitely not be returning here. Ive gotten 24 inspection tire rotation and oil change completed within an hour. They didnt even have people standing at my car.FYI had a chat with customer service who is no help at all. DONT GO HERE UNTIL YOU HAVE TIME TO WASTE.

Recently had oil change/tire rotation. Service was prompt and courteous. They didnt try to convince I needed other services, just gave me list of recommended schedule maintenance items recommended for my mileage. That was refreshing! Definitely recommend this business.

So the front staff is very friendly and nice. However, I took my car there after thinking we hut something driving down. They looked it over and said there was damage to the suspension and CV axle, about $1500 in parts and labor to fix, parts would take 3 days to get but it was drivable still. Took it to a collision shop when we got home, and was told a caliper bolt was missing, cost $5, to replace. No other issues were found. But the staff up front were nice.

So slow it took all most 3.5 hours to look for a leak in a tire they pulled it right in and then the tech took the tire off and then he left it there. Then the service writer told us he found the leak and fixing it right now. And I new that was not right because he never took the tire to the dunk tank. Then they pulled the van out and pulled it to another bay and used a floor Jack and took the tire off and he putted buy the tire changing machine. And it sat there then the service advisor said they cant find no leak in the tire. So they are going to put it back on. I said that is fine so we had to set there longer and another customer came in and told them he has a nail in the tire and the service advisor told him to pull it to the first bay and the guy that was putting my tire on went to the truck and took his tire off. So I had all I could take and said they need to finish my van so I could go. Ask if there was a bill and they said no. They have no clue on what they are doing. My need help. And my be new managers to help run it better.

Incredibly friendly staff. I went in for a whole new set of tires for my car. They didn’t push the most expensive option to me, but let me know of all the options they had available. I had to get a new brake pad. Again, they didn’t push it on me, but suggested it would be a good idea to replace it. Also got in and out in about 2 hours which was great with how many people they had in front of and behind me. Overall highly satisfied.

Went to another store first and they had hours to even fit in. I called this one in Williamsburg and the guy I talked to said that he could get me rotated and oil changed and be out in an hour and they pulled it off. Very quick and courteous and now I know where I’m going next time.

We had a rough start to our vacation when we had to get a new tire put on our 2018 Highlander just before we left from Pennsylvania and then the same tire went low again. Concerned we had something in that tire I took it here to get checked out because we still had a long drive to Georgia yet ahead of us. The tech didn’t find any leaks fortunately. The tech showed it to me and said they’ll check the rest of the tires while they had it up. All checked okay and they didn’t charge me anything for their time. That’s the part that gave them a 5 star rating from me. I still expected to pay something and they didn’t.

Im a definite 5-Star girl for Merchants Tire. I bought a used car from a dealership and when I did not have satisfactory care from them, I went to Merchants. They have always done excellent work on my car and went the extra mile when my car died on a Sunday afternoon and had to be towed. They were already busy, had a man call in sick and they close at 5 pm. However, they took the car in at 5, yes, closing time (when they finally had an open bay) and then repaired my car, staying until 9:30 pm to do so just so I would have my car to go to work on Monday morning. Definitely, 5 stars.

I went in to get a plug in my tire, since it had a slow leak. I had an appointment for 11 am. They finally called me over at 1:10 to tell me the screw in my tire was too close to the edge to repair. So, more than two hours before they even looked at it. They couldnt find any of my information in their computers, so I finally had to go get the receipt from my last visit to prove that I had been there before and had purchased a warranty. I had paid extra for flat repair, road hazards, balance and rotations. Once they finally put a new tire on, my cost was over $60. I only got a $75 prorated discount on the new tire, and they charged me for balancing the tire. I ended up leaving at 2:35 pm. So, three and a half hours for a simple issue, with an appointment. Im giving them an extra star for being polite, but when these tires need replacing, Ill be cutting ties and going elsewhere.In short, I dont recommend this location.

Was out to buy a used car. Got excellent advice on the car I took in for a pre purchase inspection . Later brought the car back to conduct the repairs which included changing the wheel bearings, brake drum and rear shocks. The car was ready in less than 24 hours and runs like new and at reasonable expense . Appreciate the prompt professional service by the staff.Keep it up guys !

Went here after a faulty brake job at the Gloucester location. I originally went to the Gloucester location for a front brake job because I had warped brake rotors. They replaced my front rotors and brake pads and sent me on my way. 4 weeks later, I am experiencing symptoms yet again of warped rotors fearing there may have been something else wrong. I then went to this location and was treated very kindly. Red was so nice and made sure my car was taken care of. He promptly diagnosed the issue and had it taken care of. Come to find out, my brand new rotors had once again warped and was causing my daily drive to be anything but comfortable due to not having a properly greased braking system. He even told me of some additional issues that may need attention soon. Very impressed and thankful for the staffs honesty and urgency in fixing problems. I will be coming back here again.

Pros: Friendly staff (especially Red, he was very nice the whole time). Clean facilities with plenty of stuff offered to waiting customers. I was quoted a price over the phone, then the price was raised when I went in to my appointment. As soon as I said what I was quoted there was no question from the staff and they gave me the fair quoted priceCons: OH MAN. A procedure that should have taken no more than an hour ended up taking me over 2 hours of waiting. I literally just sat and waited 45 minutes while my car was finished and nobody on the staff thought to check me out and let me leave. Granted, they were busy, but it was still inexcusable.I debated between giving a three star rating or a four star rating, but in the end the kindness and general hospitality of Red specifically convinced me to bump it up to a four. I saw a lot upset customers that were waiting far too long. Merchants wasnt really that bad, but with that many employees I expected better. Work on moving people through quicker and I am sure your reviews will go up.

Stopped to have auto checked late morning on Saturday....from out of state and planning on driving (5-6 hrs) home later in the day but leaking antifreeze so we knew something was wrong. Customer Svc rep, Mark, had technician check shortly after arrival. Put car on lift and found a return hose had a leak. Part had to be picked up from GM dealer in Newport News! The part was picked up, replaced and we were out by 2:30 pm. Appreciate great customer service and fixing auto same day, especially after stopping at one repair shop and we were told they had too many other cars to work on. Kudos to NTB team.

Our son is new to Williamsburg and when he realized he had a flat tire he drove straight to the closest tire place he could find online, which was Merchants. It was 7:50 p.m. and they closed at 8:00 p.m., however they were happy to stay late and put a new tire on. They even had the exact same tire in stock. Very grateful for the wonderful customer service and highly recommend !!!

These guys were pretty great. My car broke down on the highway between North Carolina and home, Pittsburgh PA. They were the only place open on a holiday weekend. They looked at the car immediately after it got off the tow truck. I was literally stranded there and they couldn’t get the part til the next day. One of their mechanics gave us a ride to the hotel. The next day we sat there all day while they changed the part. Turns out there was something else wrong and they made sure I saw what was going on. We ended up having to stay another night. Honestly I wasn’t real happy about it, but it wasn’t their fault. My car really did have some issues going on. The manager Chris and All the mechanics work diligently to get me back on the road to get me on my 6 hour trip home. It was fixed Monday morning and we were on our way. It was quite an experience, but the guys there couldn’t have been nicer. If I lived in the area, I would never take my car anywhere else. Special shout outs to Chris, Red, Marcus and all the other guys who were there and helping to fix my Ford Focus over Labor Day weekend!

If I could give zero stars I would. What you need to know about NTB. There are certain people that are awesome there, and there are certain people that are not. At the top of the “not” list is the manager. Rather than post the complete story I’ll just post the facts.1) my car had a flat tire and I needed it fixed or replaced. Spare tire was on the car.2) I needed a state inspection done the next day after the tire was fixed.3) The car failed the inspection because the person that I talked to face to face never looked at the tire to see that it needed to be replaced (I even turned the tire so the screw was in the front as you looked at it in the trunk so they could see it).....thereby failing the inspection (it had a huge screw in it and was obvious it needed to be replaced)4) I was told multiple times “I didn’t hear that”, “I don’t remember that”, “you didn’t tell me that”....even though I was looking this person in the eyes when I told them what I needed done. Another employee even looked at this person and said, “I heard him tell you that from across the room”.5) This person tried to charge me full price for a new tire. They never checked to see if I had tire protection on the tire (which I did).6) The manager said it was a “training deficiency”. No kidding. It was actually incompetence.7) The only redeeming quality about this place is that Eddie did his best to make things right and fix the screw up.So with this being said, I used to like this place a lot. I brought all my vehicles here. But myself and my friends and family will not be using NTB again until some changes are made.

I’ve gone to Merchant since I moved to Williamsburg over four years ago. I have never had a bad experience. If you wait for your car it can take long sometimes, but they don’t take appointments so it’s first come, first serve. They have always given a great overview of the work performed and I’ve never had an issue with their customer service. I always recommend them to people who are looking for honest service.

You know those places you try to avoid because they magically find new problems with your car that cost an arm and a leg? Well, look no further! This is one of those places.We had dropped off my car here for tire replacements and a state inspection. They charged us rightfully for those, but also for other things that we had not requested.They stated my car needed an alignment, but the data that they themselves provided clearly showed that it did not. That was a $90 charge that they did not need to incur.Granted, they did refund us, but this is an issue beyond the refund. This is an issue about doing the right thing and Merchants Tire did not fit the bill.In addition, there was a problem with my motor and they replaced the motor mount. Then, my car began to vibrate and make whining noises. They claimed it was because the motor mount was better and tighter and now I am feeling vibrations that I had not felt before. I am confused by this because if they had caused this issue, why had they not offered to fix it in any sense? They chose to blame other services that I had received instead of looking at themselves as the culprit of this disservice.I am a teacher and not much shocks me, but Merchants Tire sure did. They should be ashamed.

Took my car here for an inspection. They warned me before I dropped it off that it might be here overnight. It actually did take that long to get around to it. That’s not my issue here.I got a call that it failed inspection and they wanted to do repairs to it, totaling $1,100. I picked it up to get a second opinion elsewhere. Not only had they failed me on things that were passable (the expensive repairs, obviously), but easy fixes and glaringly obvious safety hazards were missed, like my side mirror hanging on by glue and my emergency brake light permanently stuck on.They don’t care about your safety, only your money.

This place is not honest about the repairs they make to vehicles and agree with the ripping off. They diagnosed my daughters jeep saying it needed new rotors and break pads which was true. They so called replaced both and charged for both but then she started having rattling come from her front end. Took it back there three times and still no resolve. One of the service managers Red advised to take it to the dealership. Good thing we did. The brake pads had been replaced but not the rotors as we had paid for. The rotors per report of dealership were rattling around because they were old and rusted which was diagnosed by ntb but not replaced as had been charged for. Parts we got back from dealership were evident

We took our (newer) car in for an oil change. After picking it up, I noticed my glove box was on the floor. It had been broken off and a part was also on the floor. My husband called and the receptionist blamed us for the issue. He asked to speak to the manager who was going to review video footage and get back to us, but we never heard back. Also, the oil change notification in my car never went off so I’m not confident that my oil was even changed. It was a major disappointment as we’ve used this company for years (and when it was Merchant Tire previously) and always had such a great experience. I’ve lost all trust in this company and won’t be back.UPDATE: I contacted the company directly as requested and received no response.

I had scheduled an appointment online for 11 am to get 4 new tires put on to my truck. After taking 15 minutes just to check in at the store (no line) my truck wasnt brought into the garage until noon, an hour after my appointment. Why allow appointment scheduling if you dont actually get the vehicle in for service at the time agreed upon. Thankfully I had the day off so I wasnt too pressed for time, but I lost a whole hour for other tasks scheduled during my day.The only reason I gave 2 stars was the tire change, when it occurred, was a fairly speedy process. I will not be returning to this NTB and also question whether or not I will visit any other NTB in the future.

This was my first visit to NTB. Chris the manager was nice and informative when I dropped my car off for an inspection, it took a while for my car to be inspected, but I understand that it takes time to go through each vehicle especially if there is a problem. I also was told that I need to have some car repairs, I was taken aback when I was handed the invoice for the repairs, 🙄 and the cost to fix everything I almost fainted! I understand that my car is 17 years old, but Im unable to afford to do everything that is listed on the invoice. Thank you for the inspection and the tire rotation. Nice job!

Had an appointment at 10am. My car was brought inside at 10:05am. My car sat there until 11:00 before it was lifted and didn’t come off the racks until 11:40. I sat and watched as other cars were worked on as my car sat in the garage. Why have appointments if the car isn’t gonna be touched until an hour later. Very disappointed and the business wasn’t busy so I’m not sure why it took an hr and 45 to do an oil change and tire rotation. Have a great day

Had a flat on the interstate on vacation and needed two new tires. I can echo the sentiments of others:Friendly staff, clean waiting area, job was done right. However it is very slow and they wanted to get me to have every service done to my car. This isnt so bad and I know its how many shops do business.However, I got weary of explaining that I didnt want any of this. I just wanted the tires so I could get home and have servicing done there at my regular shop.All in all average place with decent people.

Its very bad the service was the first to pass inspection I was denied by headlights and other lights ok the headlights had to change them nome said nothing about it ok I went back the second time did not pass inspection by my headlights and and by a lus of the plaque burned hehe I come the third time I change the lights and everything they told me step inspection and everything but when they give me the car they tell me that it does not start Jejejeje and they gave it to me like that and I told them in very good conditions Maybe just at that moment my car was ruined when I never had before given this kind of problem ?? !!

Usually great service but dont expect them to get your car inspected in a timely matter what so ever. I waited almost two hours for my car to be not be inspected at all when my car was from the beginning of the day the second in line to be inspected. Not sure of their procedures but that was ridiculous. Had to take my car across the street was in and out in 45 mins with a couple on front me at that shop.

I made an appointment on a Thursday for oil, new tires and a state inspection. When I got there and they said the inspector left and wont be back until next week however you can leave your car over the weekend and youll be the 1st car to be done next week. I reluctantly agreed and left. On a Monday afternoon I called to find out the status of my car and the kid said the inspector wasnt there and would be there the next day. I asked if the other items were done and he said no. I asked why and he gave me a speech on how the state inspector needs to put hands on the car 1st. I was very puzzled by this and asked if I could talk to someone that could explained this. Well, then the manager Chris got on the phone and immediately was on fire. I asked him why does the inspection guy need to be there in order to get my tire and oil changed. He gave me the speech again but this time really fast and rudely. I asked him to speak a little slower and he said I dont think Im speaking fast He was augmentative, rude and had ABSOLUTLY no people skills. I told him that I was frustrated about all this and he said the people around me agree on what Im saying. Now, let me sate He was in the garage with the other mechanics because all I heard was the air guns going off. All I needed to hear was Im sorry for your frustration but we will have your car ready tomorrow. But NO this manager Chris ended the conversation with me upset and worried about my car. I contacted the corporate office and the district manager called me. I specifically told him I dont want a discount or money off the bill. I want my car done without retaliation and perhaps an apology from Chris THE MANAGER. He assured me that nothing will happen to my car and that hed have Chris call me...... NEVER HAPPEND. I called the next day talk to Red (who was wonderful) and I picked my car up. No Chris, No apology for the behavior and the way he treated a paying customer. My family, friends and co workers are all aware of this disgusting customer service and I will deter anyone from going there.An apology and reassurance that all is well with my car and it would be done the next day is all that he needed to do. Let see if next Ill get the automated response: Sorry to hear contact us... we want to know more... Well, I told my story to you all . ...1 too many times.

Price is pretty average; no great savings, but they arent taking you for a ride. The appointment system, however, is a joke. Made an appointment for 4:00. Got there and checked in at 3:55. My truck sat in the parking lot untouched until 4:55. What was the point of getting an appointment?

Quoted one price and was charged almost 4x the estimate. Was told they didnt have the part originally discussed; so they used a more expensive part without telling me. Did not ask me or discuss with me about the new part or cost until after the work was done and I was questioning the extreme difference in cost. Would not go there unless you want to be ripped off!

The customer service was good and friendly. Building was clean. Do not show up without an appointment. The business is under staffed for the volume of customers. It took an hour an 20mins for me to get back my keys after a tire rotation and balance. So give yourself some time.

Pretty good work, although they need to check their work history on cars before recommending work. If you dont have an appointment for oil change first thing in the morning, dont bother trying to wait for your car.

Be careful, do not be fooled by them!My friends car vibrate during driving, take it to Merchants Tire & Auto Centers twice. They rotated the tires first time, did not fix the problem. Then ask us to change four tires and shocks for roughly 1500 dollar second time (they said the shocks are broken). We go to Meineke Car Care Center across the street, find out the shocks are fine, only one tire is broken. We also go to Henrys Used Tires, they also tell us our shocks are good. It cost only 200 dollar to fix the problem.Other store tell us our shocks are fine, only they said our shocks are broken. And they ask $1500 instead of $200 to fix the problem. Please consider this experience before you go to the store.

Ive gone to Merchants twice- once for an oil change/tire rotation, and once for a new tire installation. Both times I made a reservation in advance. The oil change took an appallingly long time. I waited in the lobby for probably close to two hours, compared to probably 20 minutes elsewhere.Nevertheless, I decided that was probably a one-off and gave it another shot for a new tire installation. This time, I dropped the car off early in the morning, and the employees gave an estimate of three hours, as I recall. Almost 12 hours later, after several phone calls (itll be ready soon, well call you repeated each time), the car was finally done. At nearly 8:00 P.M. For comparison, it takes Toyota only 17 hours TO BUILD AN ENTIRE NEW CAR.I think there was an Irish fellow who wrote a play about this kind of thing. Waiting for Merchants Tire? Something like that like.

I am thoroughly pleased with the help given me by the staff of this NTB. MrEd, Miss Nadine, and Red could not have been kinder and more sympathetic to an elderly disabled person. I have been coming here for 20 years and it has always been the same. The only thing I missed this time was seeing Mike who moved down the Pensula to another NTB site. Our loss is their gain. David was extremely helpful towards me and my mother. I am a college student at William and Mary who received a rip-off tire from another shop in my hometown. By the time I got down to Williamsburg it was flat and I was struggling to find a shop open on Sunday. My mother and I rushed to NTB and we were greeted warmly and given the best deal on a new tire. I was so thankful I gave David the biggest hug before I left. NTB is amazing any day of the week and all of the workers are informative and sweet!!!!
