I used to work with Howard Oconefsky, who is an excellent accountant. Several years ago DSJ bought his practice, and the quality became AWEFUL. They raised the prices a lot, and yet dont respond to emails or calls, miss deadlines, ignore complaints, and ask for the same documents multiple times because they lose the ones you send. They have 0 accountability, and yet somehow charge twice as much as my new accountant. I have never written a negative review about any business, but this firm INFURIATED me. I agree with other reviewers, stay away!

Jim Dunne and his colleagues are fantastic - my taxes are complex (income from many states and foreign jurisdictions); investment income issues also arise and can be tricky. Jim and his DSJ CPA colleagues are responsive, knowledgeable and a tremendous pleasure to deal with. That is why I have stayed with them for almost 20 years - and I could not imagine leaving the DSJ CPA family!

Agree with other posters. They missed a critical business tax deadline, and offered to do it 2 months later!! at a rate way beyond reasonable. they apologized for messing up but would not adjust the invoice to reflect their error. I am now subject to an IRS penalty, and if my new accountant cant get it waived, I WILL be suing DSJ for negligence, in order to recover the money.also i had to call 5 times to get them to change another error. I used to love working with Howard, but once these DSJ people bought him out it became AWFUL. they are so unprofessional. wouldnt wish them on my worst enemy, and considering filing a formal complaint with the state. Also, all their 4 star reviews are recent and from posters with only 1 review, so they are trying to artificially pump their ratings. These folks are really the least professional people I have ever worked with.UPDATE: The IRS has levied a 2000$+ fine on my business. I have formally complained to the NYS Licensing Board, who are investigating DSJ for negligence. I am also in process filing a lawsuit against them. Read the other reviews, beware of this company!!

For an accounting firm who deals with numbers, their calculators are broken. I was a client with this firm for a year and a half and the amount of mistakes the they made was terrible. If they paid me monthly I wouldnt stay there. a total disgrace on multiple levels. I pay my bills the day I get the invoice and then they demanded that I pay my invoice prior to them doing the work. NOT HUMANS and eventually it will catch up with this firm. I am working on my complain with eh State Education Department with ALL of the documentation. This firm is a bunch of criminals

Professionally incompetent bordering on criminal. They have refused to release my returns even after I paid my bill. Currently pursuing legal action. As an attorney and large business owner I strongly advise to stay away from this firm !!!

SCAM ARTISTS!!!FRAUD ALERT!!!I gave them all my tax information months in advance. A couple of days before the filing date, they decided to tell me they are raising my current year fees by 300% from prior year. They left me with less than a week to figure out my solution. THANKFULLY I FOUND A DIFFERENT ACCOUNTANT!!!They tried pinning me in a corner and pay them a 300% increase. THATS COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!OOO and PLUS THEY TRIED OVER STATING MY INCOME BY DOUBLE!!!!!!!!RUN AWAY AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!!!!
