Ive been going here for a little over a year now. Obviously, having car problems isnt ideal, but its good to know that its in good hands when I bring it here. John knows what hes doing, and what I really like is that he does his best to explain exactly whats wrong and what needs to be done (hell probably give you a rough sketch if he needs to go into detail). Ive brought my car in for things from an oil change, inspection, brake and rotator replacements, to (much more recently) my rack and pinion replaced. Definitely recommend this place if youre looking for a good mechanic. And if you stop into the office, make sure to bring a treat for Shadow!

Stacks has been my go to place for auto repair and maintenance since I moved to the area several years ago. John is always friendly. He takes the time to get to know your car, enters detailed notes, and, when theres a problem, he takes the time to always explain what the situation is and what needs to be done.Recently, he caught a problem with my transmission that I wouldnt have caught on my own, and alerted me to the fact that it was still under warranty, but by only 4000 miles. He took care of contacting the dealer and getting the vehicle over to their shop for me. I feel like a lesser mechanic wouldnt have noticed the problem or less honest one wouldnt have told me about it, let me drive it for awhile longer, and gotten the expensive job for himself.Ive found them to always be honest, have given me great customer service, and, most importantly, have done good work.

Paid 350 for a new door switch on my cadillac.. door still didnt work.. bought the part at cadillac and put it in myself and it works.. while they are nice and advertise constantly they are not very knowledgeable... i would not trust them to do proper work

Cant understand how people expect quality work but by jeopardizing safety..People Ive had my cars fixed by the mechanics that let it slide and or use cheaper parts to lower cost. I want raw truth even it hurts! its my choice to get it fixed or not.. But if its gonna get fixed I want it done right... BE SAFE NOT CHEAP!

Not your normal gas station repair shop. John runs a top notch operation and cares for your car like it was his own. He also runs a shuttle to help you back & forth if necessary. Very communicative. Try it. Youll like it.

I had a nail in my tire just need a simple plug.The shop had just closed mechanics were gone but the owner was there he refused to help me out it was Saturday at 6 PM.Simple job to do couldnt be bothered helping out. Ive lived in town for 20 years wont ever ever go there again.

I had the toughest time getting my old truck inspected. The new computers just dont work on the older vehicles. While at a Ford dealer a customer there told me to run it over to Stacks. That was around 2002. I have been a customer since that time and feel like family. Tom the owner gets a star because he will take care of a problem and will investigate it through till the problem is solved even if some reasonable time has passed. Just communicate it to Stacks right away. TJ knows how to run a shop and will go out of his way to get your car in very quickly to get your car serviced or repaired and he really has a great rapport with people so he gets a star. Then theres Chris who will, within a certain distance, take you home, pick you up and bring you back while he listens to your laments or jokes which deserves a star! Another star for Stacks because they most often have hot coffee or tea to brew and a light snack and watch the TV while waiting. Id give Stacks 5 stars but I am always in shock of how much cars cost to fix these days and cant get over it!!!!

Ive been coming to this place since it was Joes back in the 1990s. I thought I was going to have to find another mechanic when stacks took over (bad experiences with NB stacks) but John is great. These guys work hard. Give these guys a try, even if you avoid NB Stacks.

I wanted to believe all their advertisements about being an honest mechanic. Well they honestly charge you more than other places. I was appalled when they quoted me 1137 for 4 Michelin tires for a sedan. Ive had tires replaced before and I know good tires are about 100 and change a pop so something was up.I called three different places, BJs, Mavis, and a mom and pop tire place in lindenhurst, they were each about 600 total for 4 tires, Mavis offered free lifetime rotation as well. How can three places charge 600, and stacks charge almost double? I could understand if they charged maybe 20% more because they are a smaller business, but charging 2 times as much as everyone else is just unacceptable. I will never bring my car here again, I do much of my own maintenance so I am not a newbie when it comes to fixing cars, I change brakes, fluids, radiators, heater cores.....they are definitely a rip off.Their labor charge is listed at 147 per hour.....and if you bring your own parts they charge like 200 per hour or something, probably because they want to be able to rip you off on parts.Also they wanted to change my entire exhaust in my old 97 camry, they quoted me almost 3,000 (OH and they love to quote you without tax, trying to make it seem like they are cheaper, every one else gives you the total price with tax so you know what you are paying) I called multiple places after that estimate, and I got estimates around 1500/2000....I ended up junking the car since it was so old but you can see how much more than every place else they charge.The replaced a hub on my wifes car, they charged over 700, and then there was a noise I had to bring it back because they bent something in the wheel well...do they not even test their cars before releasing them???I priced the hub at my local auto parts stores and they were about 200 and change, and watched a few youtube videos just to see what it entailed and with the right tools it DID not look hard...so I probably got ripped off on that as well. Lesson learned, never again...

Great service little more pricey but worth it for the service provided

Brought in my car because of a strange sound, and explained where and how. He blamed it on the brakes (which wasnt the cause) and said it was because my rotors needed to be replaced (I already knew this) and i needed new brakes and calipers (I didnt need new calipers upon further inspection). I already knew the sound wasnt coming from the brakes, but he insisted and said that has to be fixed before he could check anything else. Charged me $60 to tell me I needed new rotors and brakes (even though his business card says FREE ESTIMATES on it).Apparently he couldnt hear the sound I was hearing when i brought it in, but heard it when I was leaving, knowing I wasnt going to pay him hundreds of dollars to change my brakes and rotors. Said he would take a look after I got my brakes fixed... Yeah right I was going back.Brought it to another mechanic down the road and they had no issue of discovering the problem without making me take care of the brakes first... interesting. I would AVOID this place at all costs.

Stacks certainly does a great job car sounded brand new after leaving the shop. Work on the car was done in a couple of hours certainly some professionals working her.

Feel sonlucky to have found Stacks! I have a Prius which had some erratic electrical problems and John put in loads of hours to effectively diagnos and fix the issue while sticking to his quote. So appreciate the honesty and knowledge; very few mechanics will even work on hybrids let alone give good service at a fair price!
