Scheduled online and the place was closed when I arrived for my appointment. Called on the day of and no answer. Called the next day to try to schedule again without using the website to ensure someone was actually there, no answer.Edit since I can’t respond to the owner. Yes I had the correct day. I received the confirmation email and a follow up after the fact. Never got a cancellation email or text.

Great service, good ambiance, not so nice of a cut and trim. I asked for a short fade and beard trim. I have “many” unblended lines. Yes, I did say it looked good before I left, I was looking at a mirror 6 feet away in low light. For the price, more detail and time will be needed to feel comfortable going back. I searching for a place to get my beard trimmed and lined up with a straight razor. There wasn’t many shops that still did the straight razor shave in Waukesha County. I discovered the Leather Strop on Google Maps the pictures looked great and the website was easy to book an appointment.Parking was easy to find on the street. The place had a rustic and clean vibe to it. Kathy was very welcoming and did a great job lining up my beard. I will be back in 6 weeks to line it up again.

I like getting my haircut here and Kathy is fun to talk to! The place is really nice, clean and put together. The decor fits with the historic buildings in the area.. I am satisfied with my haircuts and experience. I also stop down the block at The Steaming Cup to get a latte when I’m done.

This was my first professional beard trim. I did a lot of comparison shopping for other places within about 40 miles and her prices were competitive with every other place I was considering. I live currently with my senior parents and sent her an email ahead of time about her COVID procedures and she emailed me back quickly. She wore a mask during my beard trim and we had a good conversation before my trim with what I wanted. She gave me some good feedback that we moved forward with for my beard shape and some suggestions for what to do between this and my next appointment with her. I am very satisfied.

Getting a haircut with Kathy went great. Shes very welcoming. The style that Kathy did was spot on with what I wanted. What I found awesome was that she was a great conversationalist and yet so efficient, we finished the cut well below 30min. Highly recommend getting an appointment with Kathy.

NoWent for a haircut and beard trim..Came out with no length off the top and old man cut on the sides..Beard was jyst needing a trim... so bad I have to shave it off and now starting overSeems to cant go by reviews of pkaces...never will I go...Be forewarned....Id add photos but seems you cant add any

Worst place ever been. The woman shaved most of my head and only left a little hair on top. It wasn’t even an even line. I look horrible and it was so expensive for this bad of a cut. I’m very disappointed and I really wish I could have gotten my money back so I could use it to go to a different barber and get it fixed.

Mentioned this place to my boyfriend as I was researching places to get a haircut for him and was excited to see all of the great reviews this place had. My boyfriend got his haircut and honestly I think even I, with no haircutting experience, could have done a better job. The quality of the haircut was atrocious. He has patches on the side of his head and the cut was not equal, some parts of his head have long strands of hair and others are short. He said he was in there for only 10 minutes and that it was rushed and we can tell - I just checked the website and what he paid for said was a 30 minute service so?? An overall sloppy job and waste of money. Definitely will not be returning here again.

I’ve been getting the same haircut for the past decade, and figured it was time for something new. I didn’t want to roll the dice with a bad haircut establishment, however. Both The Strop and the owner came highly recommended. I got a great cut for a great price, and I now have a new barber.

Got an appointment fairly quickly, was doubled booked (technical issue, no fault there). Asked for a low fade, got a medium with staggered lines. Asked for a touch up on my eyebrows; ended up with a quarter of my left eyebrow missing. Nice.

She is super nice, but she lost my business. She made me book an appointment a week in advance for 6:30. I put it in my phone while I was on the phone, so I know my time was correct. I show up 10 minutes early at 6:20 and the place is closed. The hours online very clearly say that it closes at 7:00 pm. I called to ask about it. She anwered and told me my haircut was at 6:00. Even if it was, then I still showed up during my half hour window.She lost my business because of that. If someone makes an appointment, then you should commit to that. On top of that, honor your own business hours. Its a good haircut, but its not worth the hassle anymore. Its always a pain getting in here.

I like them although its a bit expensive.

My haircut took place the week of May 18th, 2020. This was my first time visiting The Leather Strop barbershop, which I found online and was encouraged by its many positive reviews. However, I was disappointed with the quality of haircut I received. I have never reviewed a barbershop before, but feel compelled to share my experience from that week. After giving the context of my visit, I group my impressions below as positives and negatives.Context:First time visiting the Leather Strop. Much needed haircut after quarantine. Objective was to clean up around sides, neck and ears, and keep length on top.Positives:1) Easy to navigate website where one can make their own appointment.2) Clean, luxurious barbershop with classic decor and inviting feel.3) Outgoing and friendly barber. Kathy was easy to talk to and I enjoyed meeting her.4) High-end styling products you won’t find in the store.Negatives:1) Far too short. This resulted from Kathy asking what clipper length for the side, and then proceeding to clip all hair up to the crown of my head. Including my cowlick, which is too short, and now sticks up relentlessly. I’m used to barbers giving cowlicks extra attention and cutting around them, so I don’t think this is the standard approach. I will definitely need to wait for this to grow back out, and have resorted to wearing a hat most days out of mortification.2) Uneven cut, and did not get the taper I asked for on the back. My hair is very fine, and it’s easy for barbers to leave lines in my hair with their clippers. Which happened here. Additionally, I asked for a rounded taper in the back, and received a square block high off the neckline. I additionally had to take scissors when I got home and snip some hair around my ears that was missed.3) Rushed visit. The Leather Strop BarberShop has 30 min appointments back to back, and one barber, so it’s very bang-bang. As a result, it’s impossible to give folks with unique hairstyles/hair types the attention they deserve. I attribute the poor quality of my haircut to this hurried environment.4) High prices for quality of cut. These prices are standard for barbershops I’ve visited in downtown Milwaukee where they book an hour for the cut, and where overhead is likely much higher than it is for a shop in downtown Waukesha. For a half hour, it feels too expensive. I may have felt differently if the haircut had been better, but since the haircut turned out so poorly, I definitely felt like I overpaid. Also, when someone is touching up their own haircut when they get home because they noticed the things the barber missed, that person effectively paid for an unfinished job.In summary, the barbershop is a very classy place to get your hair cut and have a wonderful conversation with the barber. While I’m sure many, many folks have had great haircuts here, my visit was an immense disappointment and I have no desire to go back. A DIY-job or Great Clips would have given me comparable results for less cost.

Mia has been cutting my hair for years. She always has a smile on her face and gets me in on short notice. I have never had any problems with the way she cuts my hair... Love her!!!

The groomsmen and my husband had a great time getting clean shaves for the wedding. The Leather Strop had a nice vintage/rustic space for them to even bring in food, drinks and music. The clean shaves themselves were good, and reasonably priced. However, a few of them got a couple nicks during their shave, which was a little rushed.

Great hair cut! This is a new place opened by a very experienced stylist. Since its her baby, she takes pride in every cut. Cool décor, with a retro barber vibe. And yes, you can get a very nice shave here. For the moment, you can walk in, but I would guess it will fill up with regulars fast.

Kathy does great work. You get the full works and she is very flexible to fitting you in for an appointment. The leather Strop Barber Shop is a cool, well kept place. Haircuts are quick and you turn out looking great.

Atmosphere is nice and price equal to two haircuts a month from great clips but you get a better haircut that last longer from The Strop. Thank for having the straight razor I enjoy a smooth skin fade.

Clean, safe expert cut!

Not a great first impression. After ensuring that the business shows up online with hours posted, I headed over into Waukesha & spent about 15 minutes finding a parking spot. Next, I showed up at 2:25pm, only to find the door locked, but all signs saying open. Glass storefront says walk-ins welcome but after calling the number on the front, and after 11 rings, a female answers. I asked her if the shop was open, she said, Well usually we are open until 3pm, but my appointment canceled, and I only do appointment only. Would you like an appointment for next week? I said, No, but thanks anyway. Dont paint the storefront with operating hours (while also exclaiming that walk-ins are welcome), list yourself on the internet as open, and even have the OPEN signs pointed to open to the public, if your doors are locked (with signs saying open), and say that youre by appointment only. You just lost a potential regular customer that would have $50 to spend. Hope that closing time was worth it!

The woman who cut my hair charged $25 for an uneven drop fade thats somewhat poorly blended. She also obviously doesnt know how to cut or style curly hair. Did not give me what I asked for even with picture references. Will not be going back.
