I’m giving two stars only because for years I never had a problem with this company. However, I recently had a zero-star experience. As a single woman, I want to protect others from being ripped off like I almost was.I had water on the floor around my furnace. The serviceman from Tom’s Heating said my AC was freezing up and also leaking refrigerant. (It had been cooling my house just fine, so that seemed fishy.) He advised buying a brand-new AC unit costing $3500.I called a different company for a second opinion, and that serviceman found a clogged fitting in the water line connected to my condensate pump. The water was backing up inside the furnace and then leaking out on the floor. He rinsed out the fitting and put it back. Voila, problem solved. He also replaced a dirty filter, which he said would have caused the first guy’s refrigerant reading to be inaccurate. He said my AC unit is working perfectly fine.I called Tom’s to complain about the botched diagnosis, but they adamantly stood by the refrigerant leak theory. The inconvenient truth is—after their serviceman left, I still had water leaking all over the floor, plus an upcoming $3500 bill. After the other company’s serviceman left, I had neither.I felt like the guy tried to take advantage of a single woman who wouldn’t know any better. Based on things I learned from the second serviceman, the guy from Tom’s was either dishonest, incompetent, or possibly both. I had been a loyal customer for almost 20 years, but they have lost my business moving forward.
I could not be happier with the new air conditioning install that Toms provided us. Our AC was old and basically dead, and Paul made a great recommendation for a new model. The team came out and performed the install and put in some additional venting in our basement. They were very friendly and cleaned up very thoroughly before they left (maybe even cleaner than when they arrived!) I asked about an upgraded thermostat and the tech brought one out and walked us through the set up process. Top notch service and a great group of guys to work with.

Id been using the same heating company for ten years and every winter our furnace broke down. Every year the old company replaced the same part; they could NEVER figure out why it broke down. In fact, they said the manufacturer might stop honoring the warranty because it broke so much. Which is insane. I changed companies. What a difference in using Toms Heating Service!Toms Heating has been wonderful. Prompt, good service, and smart. They have done a great job on our furnace. I was so frustrated they could have sold me a new one but they never tried; they are also really honest. I am very relieved to have found a really good HVAC company.

Tom’s is the best around!! We needed some vents moved for a kitchen remodel. They were able to come out the next day to move the vents so our contractor could continue working. They were also able to fix some furnace issues for a very reasonable price. I would highly suggest using Tom’s.

Received a call from Tom telling me this and said the heat exchanger in our furnace model had a tendency to rust. Pete came and installed an Aprilair whole home humidifier and did a fantastic job. He was quick and very knowledgeable. I am always curious to see how things are done and installed so I hung with him through the install and he shared lots of info and was very personable. I highly recommend!!

We have been using Toms Heating for about 25 years. Initially service was excellent; prompt, timely and dependable.Our last major event was in 2017 with the installation of a new heating and air conditioning service. Again rating was 5 stars.This most recent experience was entirely different. Service was slow, mediocre and unpleasant. I finally talked with Tom, who explained the process and told me the technician would arrive today between 8:30 and 9AM.I arranged my schedule accordingly. It is now after 10:15am and I am still waiting. A call to the office revealed the technician had a dental appointment and would arrive soon: Why was I not notified of this? Costumer service POOR. Still waiting......

Had a problem with the fan in my AC, called up and got a technician same day. Did a quick job identifying the problem and was able to fix it on the spot. Great work at a reasonable price. Will definitely call them up if I have a problem again.
Toms Heating Service provides excellent service and treats me fairly. When I first needed service on my furnace a few years ago. A friend recommended Toms. I have been a loyal customer since. They have always done great work at a fair price and they dont try to upsell me. They have always just fixed my issue and given me honest information about the condition of my furnace.My furnace is over 20 years old and is on its last legs. I know I am going to need a new one soon. But the tech did what he could to help the furnace make it through winter yet told me where potential problems still exist. Since my first call to Toms I have always felt as though they were fair and honest.
Will never use these guys again. First, they told my wife we needed a new furnace when all that was wrong was the ignition control module was bad. I asked them to just replace the module and they told me it would be $800 to do the 5 minute install of a $200 part. On top of that they couldn’t get the part until next week. I was able to buy the part on he same day locally, and I installed it myself. My furnace works great. These guys are a ripoff and can’t be trusted. I wish I could give them zero stars for trying to talk my wife into a new furnace when it was just a $200 part.
When our AC stopped working we called Toms and they were able to send out a Service Technician the same day. He arrived within the window of time that they said he would and he was able to fix the issue within an hour of arriving. He explained what was wrong, wasnt pushy, and the price was reasonable as well.

Kyle came on time, did a very thorough check of our heat and A/C system. He answered all of my questions confidently, and was very professional in his approach to our system, and left everything very clean.
Tech was on time, courteous and knowledgeable. He performed all the required tests, explained what he was doing and even dusted the furnace off. Excellent job. He was also very nice to the dog.
My A-coil froze up on my a/c and I was having problems with my furnace in the winter so I decided to call Tom’s to have my a/c serviced. The technician put 1.5lbs of refrigerant in the system. While the technician was testing the system he asked me to go inside and place a sensor by one of the cold air returns. When I came back outside and walked around the corner of the house, the technician was pissing on one of my wife’s plants. If he would have asked to use the bathroom I would have said yes. The technician mentioned that I should have my system replaced since I do have a leak somewhere and I had the old R-22 refrigerant. He did say that they could add dye to see where the leak was. Since I was also having problems with my furnace I decided to get quotes to have the furnace and a/c replaced. I proceeded to get quotes from three separate companies, one of them being Tom’s.My system included a 2.5 ton a/c unit and a 100,000 BTU 80% efficiency furnace, each company was told I was getting three quotes. The first company came in and measured up the square footage and looked in each room for supply and return air vents. They quoted a 2.5 ton a/c and 80,000 BTU 96% efficiency furnace and wanted to run new refrigerant lines.Tom’s was the second to do a quote. Tom quoted me a 2.5 ton a/c unit and 60,000 BTU 97% efficiency furnace. He also wanted to flush and reuse the existing refrigerant lines. I reminded him that my current system has a leak somewhere and I was told most likely the leak is not in those lines. I then mention to him that my current furnace is 100,000 BTU and 80% efficiency. I also mentioned the quote before him was for an 80,000 BTU furnace and 96% efficiency with a 2.5 ton a/c. Tom told me that I don’t need an 80,000 BTU furnace and that a 2.5 ton a/c unit would not work with an 80,000 BTU furnace. I did some research about flushing the lines and did find that some companies do that, but also read that if and residual refrigerant remains in the line that it can contaminate the new system and shorten the life of the new system. I also talked to my step-father and found out that he has a dye confirmed leak in his refrigerant lines coming from his condenser. Tom’s quote did come in about $900 less than the first quote, but for a smaller system and less work.The third company came later that day and quoted the exact same thing as the first company but $1 less than the first company. I mention to this sales guy about the 60,000 BTU furnace that Tom’s quoted and about Tom wanting to reuse the existing lines even though there was a leak. This sale guy knew exactly who I was talking about even though I did not mention any names. I was told by this sale guy that he has heard about this many times from other people about Tom’s. This sales guy mentioned that if I were to drop down to a 60,000 BTU furnace that the inspector would most likely order a heat load calc on the house. He also mentioned that there is no problem with a 2.5 ton a/c running with an 80,000 BTU furnace. The fact the two companies quote the exact same system without know what each other quoted, I believe that.I can honestly say that I would not recommend Tom’s Heating to anyone.

I would rate Toms Heating Five Stars. They recently put in a new furnace for us and at that time we declined to have a humidifier installed. Shortly after that, we changed our minds and went to the shop and requested that they install the humidifier. They rearranged their Technicians schedule and installed the humidifier the very next day. That is Service !! at its best. Tim was great! Came out same day, and fixed the issue of the thermostat not being connected to then AC, and quickly.. that another company failed to do when they installed the new thermostat.
Toms continues to exceed expectations with their service levels. Not only did they get my furnace started on one of the coldest days last winter they have completely changed the comfort level in my home with a new furnace AC and humidifier.
Dan was very thorough and even took the time to explain an alternate filter system he recommended we try that would call for easier maintenance and yet provide comparable if not better service. Called for my sister as she was driving. Her AC stopped working on a day that was expected to be 115 with heat index. I had called another HVAC company and they said it would be a week! Each time Bryan has been here he has walked us through the issue we were having explaining what happened and what options we had in plain English. That made it easier to understand, and also made the decision of what we needed to do that much better. Ive had a couple of experiences with Toms. One was pretty disappointing, the other was fantastic. I had a service guy out who was a close talker and his breath smelled like death. He also made a point to insult my Ecobee3 thermostat, which I felt was inappropriate.The installation of my new Carrier HVAC, though, couldnt have been any more delightful. The installation crew were awesome. They were friendly, efficient, informative, and did a great job cleaning up after the job. Kudos to Kevin and his team -- they really represented Toms well.

Dan was friendly and informative. He instructed me on things I need to know regarding humidifier filter replacement, furnace filter replacement and settings on my thermostat and humidifier damper. He didnt justtell me what to do, he explained why.
