I got face threading done. They do their jobs well but the lady who owns the place really needs lessons in manners. She was so rude to me because of some confusion with the appointment time, followed by screaming at her employee (in public!) who was helping me out. It is 2021..why can I not book an appointment online..so that human errors can be avoided...

Love this place! Sugaring is so much better for you than waxing and they take their jobs seriously. Everyone seems like they enjoy working there and are super friendly. Its very clean too! I feel comfortable and they always work quickly which I appreciate :)

This was my first time getting a Brazilian wax and the technicians made me feel extremely comfortable. They worked quickly and gave me clear instructions for after care. I will definitely return.

Love how they do my eyebrows, love the customer service and its safe. They have a hand sanitizer you pump with your foot and they steam you down with alcohol before they get started. The lady threading also wears a mask and a face shield.

This is my favorite threading/facial hair removal place in DC. I dont know whether the girls at Silky Smooth use different materials and/or techniques than other threading vendors, but the way they do it is not only more efficient and quick, but also much less painful than other places, at least for me.

The location was very clean, I also love the COVID-19 protocols that are in place. The staff was very accommodating and professional. I booked a sugaring wax, but I was given a strip wax instead (due to excess hair growth—it’s been a while). The only negative is, I immediately developed folliculitus after the service and I am two days shY of two weeks since the service and it has only gotten worst. I am trying all of the home remedies to lessen the symptoms to no avail 🥺. I’m hoping for relief very soon— I am so uncomfortable.

I was 10 minute late due to traffic but she didn’t show any irritation like some places does. I’ve never gotten my eyebrows done because I don’t trust anyone touching my face and brows but she did a great job, she somehow gave me a cute little arch that I didn’t even know was there. My eyebrows were uneven and was afraid the unevenness would be more defined but she somehow made them more symmetrical. 100% would come back.

15 minutes. That’s all the time you need to stop and get your brows done. Fast and efficient.

I called and made an appointment. The lady had no idea who I was when I arrived at that time. Fine, she still had time and space for me. I asked for a sugaring, underarm and Brazilian. I am still red and sore 3 days later. That never happens to me unless cheap wax is used the waxist tears too much or its too hot. I asked for aloe or something St the end and she said they just use antiseptic while extolling the virtues of aloe on skin. So while she was nice and seemed thorough, my delicate areas cannot recommend this place. Sugaring should be a gentle hair removal method better for sensitive skin, not here, which makes me question what she used on me.

I made an appointment and said repeatedly that I wanted a brazilian with sugaring. Whoever I made an appointment with on the phone (it’s 2020 - why can’t I schedule an appointment online?) stumbled her words and kept saying wax and I should’ve known that that was the first red flag. I was definitely charged the price for sugaring but I know for certain that the technician gave me a regular wax. I used to get sugaring done in MD, so I know how the process works. I watched her dip the stick in the wax and the consistency was black, liquified, and extremely hot. She kept applying the hot wax to my private area repeatedly and did not even attempt to cool it before applying. When I asked why the sugaring looked that way, the technician said their operation does sugaring “differently.” When I got home, I spent close to 30 minutes tweezing all the hairs that didn’t get cleaned up. I wish I had read all of the reviews more thoroughly before spending so much time and money here. GO ELSEWHERE FOR SUGARING!

They are taking extra precautions in light of COVID, including mandatory temperature taking upon arrival, as well as requiring hand sanitizer, standing in front of a sanitizing machine, and wearing a mask. Hello,I literally just left this place and it was honestly so wonderful. I had a great experience with a simple threading. Honestly painless after 3 months of not getting my brows done. I finished in literally 5 minutes and I felt a slight pinch. Im very happy with this service and I will most definitely be back.

I LOVE this place! Silky Smooth is my favorite place to take care of my stubborn, bushy eyebrows. I have been going there for my eyebrows for the past year and a half and have always left satisfied. I never have to wait more than a couple minutes to be seen, and the ladies always do excellent work to make sure my eyebrows are just the way I like them. I typically see Babita, who is always so friendly and meticulous. My eyebrow shape has definitely improved as a result of going there regularly! 100% recommend.

I just left my appointment, this business just reopened two days ago. Ive come here on and off for a few years. I feel fairly comfortable with their cleaning protocols that I felt all they needed to add is masks to the mix to fit my risk profile. They cant reuse the wax sticks, and have paper on the table and disinfect between customers for waxing. On the counters you can see scissors and brow brushes in barbicide. Anyways when I arrived it was just me and one other client finishing up. Masks are required to enter. The other patron, as well as the owner were wearing them. I was asked to sanitize my hand, the dispenser having a foot pedal which I really appreciate. I had my temperature taken and was asked to rotate clockwise and counterclockwise in an alcohol aerosol machine before my appointment. I was curious to see how they would manage threading since generally the thread goes in the mouth, but the adapted technique to not do this which was great.Ive never had a bad experience here and felt I should review for COVID-19 concerns just in case its a concern for other customers.

This was the worst wax I have EVER gotten. I have been waxing for 5 years and this was hands down the worst experience of my life. This is my first google review ever so you know it must have been bad. RUN AWAY FROM SILKY SMOOTH!

Im torn. I have had my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted, and well as brows threaded, at silky smooth several times. The first few times, I was pleased and actually felt the services were better than high end salons that provide the same services. However, the past few times the services have been inconsistent and highly dependent on the individual providing the services. Unevenly colored brows. Bluntly ended brows. Lashes that are not anywhere black. I definitely dont go out of my way to come here anymore and often find myself nearby, needing tinting, and still not stopping in.

I decided to try out the place after much contemplation and made an appointment a couple days in advance through phone that I wanted sugaring for my legs (lower half) and underarms. Just to let you all know, they will charge you 50% of what you make an appointment for if you do not show up and you have to cancel 24 hours before the appointment if you need to do so. When I arrived, they informed me that they do not have a sugaring person available (like, seriously?), even though I called in advance that I wanted to make an appointment for sugaring. The person who was going to help me attempted to sugar me, even though she told me she has not sugared anyone before. As expected, she couldnt sugar properly and offered to wax me instead (I got charged for the wax instead). Since I was already there, I just decided to get it done. The waxing itself was fine, but I was dissatisfied with how she didnt clean the wax off my legs and underarms properly. Its ridiculous how unprepared they were for sugaring even when I called to make an appointment for sugaring and then didnt even do a proper job in trying to make up for it with waxing.

I have been coming here for almost two years and I would trust Babita with my life now. I came to her with horrible uneven eyebrows and her light hands have given me PERFECT eyebrows. She always does them exactly how I tell her to. Great experience.

I have been a customer for over a year, having eyebrow tinting and brow threading. I recently added facial waxing. I had a tinting of the brow the 24th of December and noticed that the dye was FADING rather quickly, within 4 days the gray hair was back and on the 9ith day following the service I went back to the salon for them to correct. I expected the correction to be quick but I found A CALL TO THE OWNER was needed and I was told that if I wanted a correction it SHOULD HAVE BEEN TWO DAYS from the time of a tinting. TINTING LAST BETWEEN 4to6 WEEKS!!! I was tinted quickly without paying for the service again. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS BEHAVIOR and WILL RE-THINK using this salon again. THIS IS NOT HOW TO TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER!

Im so thankful I found this place! searched everywhere in DC trying to find somewhere that wasnt costing $80 for a Brazilian....until I came up on silky smooth. I decided to come in one day which happened to be the first day it was opened with my sister! We both got a Brazilian with silky (who is the owner). And that was the best choice weve ever made! It was less than $80 and we even got student discounts (which I didnt know stores even did that)......she didnt just wax us she told us how we can take care of it after and what we can do for the best long lasting result...which was great! And now a year later I still come here. Great customer service, amazing staff and everything gets done fast!PS : Silky makes her own sugar paste at home which is 100% organic . They have a lot more services than waxing and sugaring . They them out you wont regret .

I visited Silky Smooth twice and although the staff were sweet and accommodating, they arent as thorough when it comes to waxing down below. Both times I didnt realize how unsatisfactory the job was until I got home. I visited this spa because my regular esthetician was booked but she does a more thorough job and is less expensive. However, Silky Smooth has a good homemade sugar wax. I would suggest Silky Smooth try to be as thorough as possible when it comes to Brazilians.

I had Babita, and I wanted to get an eyebrow waxing, but she explained to me that threading was much better (which I had never done before), so I decided to go for it, and she made me so comfortable. I was a little scared but she helped me through it. Very much appreciated, and good job on the brows, which is hard to find! I will definitely be coming back!

Ive been going to Silky Smooth for Brazilian waxes for about 5 months now, and I would definitely recommend their services! They are always so friendly, timely and professional. Their salon is clean, and they use high quality products. I have had a variety of technicians, and all have been equally great!

The owner of the place texted me, harassing me.I went to Silky Smooth DC. It was the first day of woman who was threading me and she was just trying to make conversation. She asked me about me and so I reciprocated. I found out that shes been in the States for 4 years and has an 8 year old daughter. The remainder of her family husband and mother are back in Nepal and shes collecting money to sponsor them to come here. She makes very little money lives off of tips cannot afford to really live in a place by herself so rents a room in somebody elses house for herself and daughter.

Probably the worst wax I have ever received. I asked for an extended bikini and barely got a regular bikini. Usually, they are understanding about doing an extended line (especially with consideration to how popular Brazilians are now), but at this place they charge an extra $10. The woman spent all of 5 minutes completing the wax and left so much residual wax behind. I paid $46 for something I could have done on my own.

I went here for a Brazilian and underarm wax for the first time this week. Im used to doing cold sugar wax in my country which it has been impossible to find in USA, this warm sugar wax is as close as it gets, extremely minimal pain, no burns and experienced no irritation to my very sensible skin. Just make sure you ask for Krishna, she is lovely super light hands, amicable and clearly very experienced by the way she worked my skin. I loved it!!

I am a WoC with really coarse body hairs (face & bikini). After calling a few salons, the young lady on the phone assured me she and her team worked very well with coarse hairs. I arrived at the salon and was surprised to be the only client. A young lady named Krishna quickly and careful handled my facial wax and a threading clean up. She made me check to see if any hairs were missed; my facial was well removed. Im visiting from out of town and hope I can find someone as satisfactory in Atlanta. I will definitely return anytime Im back in the city :)

Im visiting DC for the week and desperately needed to get my brows done. The ladies here were nice, clearly knowledgeable about eyebrows as far as working according to shape, length etc. I was in and out with great service. Also, if you use Apple Pay they accept it! A definite bonus.

I recently moved to the Washington DC and was in desperate need of a good wax place. Finding the best wax place was important to me as I tend to be a bit particular about these type of services. Im kinda attached to my lady back at home, and was worried about how I would find a place here in DC. Honestly, this place was my second choice and I ended up going to Dupont Threading as it was closer to work Place . After walking 15 minutes in the rain I noticed my first choice was closed! Hours stated on the sign, that they were open but doors were locked. I was confused and annoyed because looking into the window it was visible that people were clearly there. So I was off to my second choice (Silky Smooth DC) and SO happy I did!My Experience at Silky Smooth DC:*Front desk girl was sweet and very welcoming!*I only had to wait for ten minutes but please make an appt if you can. They didnt seem too busy due to the rain so I think thats why I didnt have to wait that long.*Silky did my eyebrows and I LOVED her!! She was very personable and she made me feel comfortable (almost like a sisterly feeling about her) We had good conversation :)*She gave me a couple samples of lotion...which I enjoyed!I plan on getting more services here during my stay here :) I had a great experience!

Asked for a manager got someone named Kristin. Hard to understand with her accent asked about microblading and if her salon had the required license - she said no and couldnt g et off the phone fast enough. Chances are they are operating illegally and watch what you get.

I love the threading but the customer service here is awful and greedy when you bring an issue to their attention. I had a Groupon a while back and the owner said there was an issue between their business and Groupon and although thats not my problem she made it seem like it was. She told me I didnt purchase the tinting Groupon, only the threading. I did purchase the tinting and still have proof of it. And when I showed her the next visit she marked it as redeemed and said shed honor it but suggested I wait while she figured the issue out with Groupon and even suggested I wait to get them tinted because i had just gotten them threaded and it usually looks better when you tint then thread. She said shed give me call. Because I didnt want to be a pest I just said okay. She took my number, then my friend, who I brought there to get her eyebrows threaded, and I actually purchased products from them, and we left. This lady never got back to me. Never called, and I went twice after that to wait for her and she was unavailable. So I never got my service but still have proof on Groupon. Yet because its marked as redeemed they wont refund me. So I have yet to return and all of my friends I sent there I have told them not to return. Of course they may not care but I was a loyal customer who brought lots of ladies to them. Smh.
