I really like this gym, they just need a stretching bar, station and table to stretch on it will be perfect

I worked out here while visiting DC (from NY) and this Is the best planet fitness I’ve ever visited. Plenty machines on only one floor, huge space, lots of light, great staff.

Wish there were more free weights but its one of the clean planet fitnesses I have been!

I love this location! Friendly staff, great team. I have been a member since this location opened. I like to go early in the morning. Its not crowded during this time. The facility has effectively implemented the Clean-first strategy during the pandemic. Everyone wears a mask and team members are constantly cleaning. I usually bike to this location and bike parking is in front of the gym!

I loved this planet fitness. It was always clean, had a great variety of machines, had helpful staff, and was never too busy. The free 90 min garage parking in the city was a huge bonus. Honestly, everything I wanted in a gym. I cancelled because I moved out of the area, but I miss going already. Happy to recommend this location to anyone!

I wouldn’t recommend this gym. I have a black card membership that allows me to use any Planet Fitness, yet there’s one front desk employee here, Simone, that will not allow me in. I had the gym I originally purchased a membership from call and speak with her and she still refused to let me in to use my last month of a membership that I had already paid for. For context, I’ve been in almost every day in September, yet the two times I encountered this individual there has been trouble. This person claimed it was the manager that specifically wrote a rule that would not allow me to use the gym because it isn’t my home gym?? It doesn’t make any sense.I will be getting in touch with whoever I can at Planet Fitness to hopefully be compensated for not being able to utilize the gym and likely not purchase a membership from this company again. Too many hassles.To be fair, all of the other staff is really friendly and kind! The equipment, however, is sparse and not well kept.

Convenience and price... When usually arrive there is just a small crowd which is great... Im able to use machines that I want without having to wait. Wish some items are updated so I can use my newer iPhone with it.

For $10 (or $24 for VIP)/month for a 24-hour gym it’s hard to go wrong. Still, the facility is clean and staff is very friendly. I still maintain another gym membership due to the lack of squat racks, barbells and other “lunky” necessities, but it’s a very nice backup for basic workouts.

Planet Fitness (PF) Ivy City DC always had very professional staff that made sure they did there best to help each customer. The location was clean and ready to use every time I visited this location. Nearby secured covered parking minimized need to use street parking. Since this location is on the second floor, stairs and an elevator provides another convenience to PF customers. The Ivy location provides easy access to both Washington DC and Maryland patrons either before or after work. The bathrooms make it easy to change clothes depending for commuters needs. Local stores also provide healthy eating options.

Its just a place where you can be at peace with yourself while at the same time get your body fit. The fitness training is on point as well.

If you are familiar with planet fitness, you know it caters to the masses, not body builders or serious fitness. Its almost all weight machines, bikes, and treadmills - very limited free weights, boxes, or the like. No crossfit stuff here. This location isnt that crowded, is clean and well maintained, and has all the facilities you need (lockers, showers, etc). Its hard to beat the price, too.

I visit this location frequently. You literally see the staff cleaning all the machines constantly which makes me feel more comfortable working out. The location is always clean, well lit and good machines.

I’ve felt very comfortable here during the pandemic. The staff is constantly cleaning and remains extremely friendly to patrons.

The best time to go is when Vincent is working! Five stars to him alone! He made sure members were in compliance with their masks and constantly sanitized. He still took a second to throw out some words of encouragement to the members! I hope PF realizes the value of a great employee!

Very clean, very friendly. I love the manners of the staff as well as the varieties provided at this area. I made a huge progress throughout the past 10months from 165lbs to 220lbs very good for putting on mass. I really love the tricep press, as well as the bicep curl. I also love the way the treadmill is set up, you can put your phone in a slot and listen to music as you run, this adds intensity to my workouts. Im not a big fan of television but for those who are you can enjoy your workout and watch television at the same time different sets of entertainment throughout the gym. Lastly the massage I love it, very soothing really makes you feel at home after a great workout😁😁 keep up the great work.Thanks, Rahzel Mickens

Nice facility little smaller than the ones I usually visit back in Kansas City.Machines are well maintained and clean.surisingly not very crowded..Parking kind of sketchy if not familiar with area or maybe thats just Dc. Either way got a good workout in

The staff at the front desk is helpful and friendly. A lot of effort goes into keeping the place clean. Each time I am there, people are actively cleaning and restocking the sanitizing stations.

Very nice kinda tucked away if you are not familiar with the area it is located where the old hecht company warehouse used to be. Very clean and abundance of workout equipment to use. I usually go around 5 am and it is never a lot of people around this time.

Lots of working equipment, friendly staff your parking is also validated for up to 2 hours my first time there in years the area has updated around the surrounding scene with a lot of new stores fairly moderate when I went there a few plus size people so I did not feel alone. Plenty of hand santizer and cleaning agents to wipe down machines. I enjoy my work out.

Actually 2.5 would be better. Amenities included free parking for up to 2 hours 1 block down the street, very nice for an inner city club. And it does have extensive cardio equipment and a nice layout. The negatives were the fact that the lockers are mostly cubesized and involved setting a combination rather than allowing us to supply our own locks. I set a combination and when I went back to open the locker it would not open. The attendant came to help me and he was rude and mocking of my predicament, not highly professional. I also noticed that there were many pieces of equipment that had out of order signs and when I mentioned that to a couple of the patrons I was told that this was, par for the course with this club.

The facilities are clean. The workers and people who come to work out are nice. I really like the location and parking garage also.

Pretty clean and not crowded. I went at 1030 pm and this was the perfect time to go. Staff was friendly, cleaning crew was active. Only 1 complaint, no one breaks down the equipment after user. You dont know if theyre finished or not.

Very friendly staff ready to assist you. The gym is good for a quick workout. Two hour free parking in garage when u scan parking ticket at front desk. Limited small lockers to everyone for a few things jacket/small bag etc. The audio to tv from cardio machines needs attention.

The location is convenient and near. It’s clean, organized and very well maintained. Staff are professional and welcoming.

The actual gym and people who work there are fine but they make it as hard as they possibly can to cancel a membership and they’re shady about it. When COVID hit, they automatically canceled memberships because the gym closed, but then as soon as they reopened (which was much too soon), they automatically renewed memberships without letting members know. Once I became aware of this, I tried to call to cancel my membership. That was not possible. To cancel, you have to either go into the gym where you started your membership (not an option for me because I don’t even live in that area anymore) or write them a letter – not an email, an actual letter that you have to mail. So I wrote and sent the letter exactly like they told me to do, and when they received it they still didn’t cancel my membership. When I called, I was told the letter didn’t include the “official documents” necessary to cancel. But as I’ve tried to figure out what those “official documents” are, no one has been able to give me a straight answer. Trying to work this out by making phone calls is impossible, the customer service is inexcusably terrible.

Just returned back after almost 2yrs.Still clean and workers are pleasant.

Terrible first day. Everything is so app based and that is not saying much. I thought the front desk would be helpful, but they made the experience worse by having snobbish attituded- at least the the guy was that way. So if you want to go take a virtual tour cause customer service is down- of course due to coronavirus.

Its a great value for the cost. Despite social distancing measures there are plenty of exercise options. I do miss the ab machines but can manage on body weight exercises. Maybe alternating times for opening certain areas would work.Situated on New York avenue the location is easily accessible. Parking is abundant and in DC thats critical. Even better its free for up to 1.5 hours with validation. The facilities are always clean and the staff is always helpful and friendly. My favorites are Alicia and Aaliyah. Theyre the best!

The manager, Earl Grant, was rude and unprofessional when dealing with a late fee remediation. I had 3 days left before moving out of state and after the experience with Earl (him cutting me off and hanging up mid sentence). I immediately went to cancel my gym membership. Building customer trust takes time, but it only takes 1 mishap to lose it.

This location is one of my favorites because of the natural light that comes in. Great staff, clean restrooms, friendly atmosphere. The only negative thing I would have to mention or bring up is, their ventilation system must be having some issues because it get pretty stuffy in there.

Wish I could give less than one star. Have tried to cancel my account several times now and it is an absolute unprofessional joke. Cant be done online somehow, cant be done OVER THE PHONE even. Given everything happening it seems incredible not to allow canceling online let along over the phone. Add that to the fact they kept charging while closed during a pandemic and its become painfully clear what kind of business this is. Will be doing everything I can to spread the word on this and hopefully others do not get stuck. .

Clean and very nice staff. Equipment selection is alright, doesn’t have enough free weights. Very affordable and prefect for non-powerlifters.

I have never once felt judged, or uncomfortable and I am always in a good mood before and after every trip to the gym. The staff are kind and friendly and they want to see you succeed. As someone who has always avoided gyms, Planet Fitness at Ivy City has transformed my ideas of what a gym is and it is helping me to transform myself.

The 24/7 convenience is definitely why this is my favorite spot, but also the staff are top notch and place is always clean and in order.

Always a friendly greeting upon entering and exiting, mask enforcement, members and availability of equipment.

The entire crew at this particular location are all super friendly, efficient, professional and always happy to assist with any questions or concerns. I’m always greeted with genuine smiles and hellos EVERY time I’m either entering or leaving the gym. The common areas and restrooms are always clean and properly stocked with the needed supplies. All in all, management is doing a phenomenal job leading the team.Kudos!

Great location and convenient with good parking. I always have problems with the lockers which is bothersome, but otherwise this is nice gym. Never had any issues with staff (everyone is super helpful) and equipment is always working. My go-to spot.

I did give 5 stars until they cancelled my membership mistakingly...So I reported it 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️...When you are there, have a rhythm, and bother no one... some things hurt and try to get in the way of your goals. Including The Gym

This gym is my home gym and who ever is the GM here needs to be the GM at Silver Spring Location maybe the bathrooms will get cleaned more often.

Workout daily. Helpful and friendly staff. Responsive when customers are unable to get into locker. Plenty of machine cleaners throughout. Convenient location to my work. I havent had the opportunity to use my black card perks, but the membership fee is manageable for the amenities.

Terrible !!! Claim it’s month to month but when I cancelled they kept trying to charge my account even though I was not able to go to the gym for months! After speaking with them they claim it’s really not month to month at all so they lied from the start. They are also extremely unprofessional!!! Do LA Fitness instead!!

Clean facility, friendly and helpful staff, never gets too too busy. I rarely feel crowded and am able to get my workout done with no problems.

I cancelled my membership in December 2019, but realized I have been getting charged each time. I have since moved from DC and when I called they said I needed to send a letter and were unwilling to discuss any refunds. Regional manager refuses to call me back to discuss and this is the WORST customer service from a gym ive ever received.

Today is my 1st visit after overcoming my nervousness and apprehensions. I chose to join. The facility is beautiful and appears well kept! After a full consultation with the front desk I signed. Teylor helped my husband and I. She answered all of my concerns about safety and assured me that your team was THOROUGH as they care for the concern of the community as a whole.Today, on my first visit I witnessed a gentleman use the treadmill and with No regard he didnt bother to sanitize it afterwards. My very insecurity I witnessed.When I came across an employee I shared with her and stated it needed to be cleaned. Thinking she was a community player and would want to be proactive for the next guest that arose. NOT the case. As a matter fact the employee stated that wasnt her job description. To my surprise, she said it sarcastically and quite rude as she repeatedly let me know. Even after I expressed my disdain towards her conduct. Explaining as a 50 yr old woman and business owner for almost 30yrs that we must consider doing our part in this PANDEMIC for the COMMUNITY.She stood firm in her stance as I shared with her we just lost a loved one to Covid last night and another one last Sunday. So it is absolutely in my interest to operate responsibility. As a business owner I value corrective criticism, as I myself have to sanitize my business before, in between and after EVERY guest.Reviews are a big part of good business. Which I why I hate leaving a less favorable one.I must commend Teylor👏🏾🎉👏🏾 as soon I I bought it to her attention she IMMEDIATELY went into action. She did explain that there was a designated employee for that. However, after not seeing him immediately. She herself jumped into action and took one for the community. Plus, she took my concern,a customer into consideration and let me see her action. Thanks Teylor for easing my concern and going above and beyond your job description.I commend the manager Conrad for his attentiveness. This is obviously something of concern for me that I took the time to write this review.Overall, this facility is beautiful and for the most part pleasantly staffed. I enjoy most of the locations but this location is hands down the best one!!! The atmosphere is great, plenty of good energy and an AWESOME WINDOW TO ACTUALLY LOOK OUT OF WHILE WORKING OUT, at least I think its a plus. I like to feel my mind drifting off while getting in a good work out. One of the guys actually walks around handing out hi fives and words of encouragement. Its dirty and the cleaning lady doesnt clean. All the equipment is either dusty or dirty. The personnel is nice but need to do a better job at cleaning.

I like coming to this gym because its clean and its lively with a good amount of people but some days its nice and quite and plenty of free equipment. The weights are great too I wish it was a little higher so I can challenge myself but overall its a good place. The employees are nice as well.

This gym is the best bang for your buck in DC. Roughly $10 a month to access just this location, its an absolte steal for anyone looking for a gym with everything you need that doest charge a months salary to join.There are a lot of gyms in DC, many of them are absurdly overpriced. No, Planet Fitness will not have classes, or unique offerings that those more expensive gyms have. But for $10 a month? You get a massive gym full of enough equipment for you to get a great workout.

I think I already answered this question but I like the whole no ego thing and even the less expensive membership compared to other memberships. I enjoy the pizza nights and candy at the front desk. Candy at the front desk and pizza nights is what got me in the door of Planet Fitness. Having candy at the front desk and pizza nights did something positive for me psychologically that made me realize it felt more like a party at the gym rather than punishment. Then all of the sudden I didnt need to attend pizza nights as I began to increase the amount of weight resistance and started losing weight. I started naturally eating healthier the more fit I became because it no longer felt like punishment. Plus Planet Fitness is new throughout the United States, all the equipment is new, not run down, and it feels good. I love the fact its open twenty-four hours. I have a crazy work shift and sometimes I need to go to the gym at 2am in the morning. I love the fact that its open at 2, 3, or even 4am in the morning hours. I hope Planet Fitness stays this way forever and doesnt let greedy CEO’s and an over dedication to its stock market shareholders ruin it. If anything Planet Fitness needs to be even more dedicated to its non-stock owning shareholders which would be the regular membership paying customers, their staff, and equipment. Typical planet fitness. You are not to judge other while working out but everyone, staff included, will judge you if you workout too hard.

Place was clean and had most all the amenities. Because of covid, some equipment like resistance bands were unavailable. They dont provide jump ropes if youre looking for that. Its also Street parking so parking may be tough depending on time.

Ayana at Planet Fitness Ivy City in Washington, DC intentionally hung up on me for no reason. During our conversation she was extremely rude. There is no reason for her to speak to clients in this manner. At no time was I ever ride to her. When I called back she refused to let me speak to another person. I asked when the manager Earl would be available and she refused to help and hung up on me.

This gym is very clean and the staff is friendly. The team did a great job social distancing the gym equipment and putting extra precautions in place so customers are safe. I felt very comfortable working out and It’s good to be back .

Yesterday was my first time going to Planet Fitness with my friend, and she convinced me to go and workout with her. First, I was not sure about Planet Fitness and its motto: Judgement Free Zone, because I was too shy. Second, I never felt comfortable to do exercise in public -- gym or fitness center. Awkwardly, I had no idea what to do when I got there, but I forced myself to get on the treadmill. Within few minutes, I wasnt shy anymore because nobody gave me a dirty look AND nobody criticized me. Of course, they were too busy with their workouts. After an hour, I felt a little more confident in myself, which is good, but it will take a lot of time to build my confidence by going and exercising at this place.Today, I decided to come back to this place again with my friend, and I felt so much better than yesterday. We stayed there for around 30 minutes. Still, nobody gave me a dirty look or criticized me. I should mention that they completely clean and their staff members were so friendly. I think one staff knew sign language, and it was awesome to see someone who knows sign language working at Planet Fitness! However, I am too shy to talk and ask them questions, though. I am not sure if they are trained to provide a paper and pen to communicate with me if they do not know sign language. Im not sure if they are willing to answer my questions through paper and pen.Anyways, Im thinking about going back again tomorrow!

Disappointed I was given the runaround about canceling my gym membership. You would think a nationwide establishment would have more leniency during a global pandemic when people don’t feel comfortable risking their lives to workout but no. I was charged for something I haven’t used since February.

First time going to a Planet Fitness in general and it was pretty much empty. It was overall quiet and the staff was helpful and respectful. The customers there didnt seem too much about cleaning the equipment after they were done using it so its always best to try to clean it just in case. I would love to go again, this gym so far, makes me feel comfortable in my own skin.

I submitted a cancellation request multiple times and called several times but was still charged. Earl, the manager, said that sometimes emails get lost - so thats why you can keep charging me? I provided notice in writing which is what they request, anything after that is literally fraud - reporting this as we speak... - UPDATE: if you are getting charged for cancellation fees call the DC Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Affairs, I did and they informed what the gym is doing is wrong and I was able to get my money back.

Pros- Nice new equipment. Open 24/7. Free pizza and bagels. Organic market and free parking across the street. Cons- Very busy weeknights. As a result the “B.O.” smell is pretty strong. Can be hard to get on the machines you want.Btw- get the black card. Totally worth it with all the PF locations across the country.

The Manager Earl Grant was really rude/nasty! My husband was asking a question and he rudely cut him off so I decide to intervene... then he proceeded to ask me was I a member, and if not he’ll just continue to talk to my husband. He had two guys behind him, I think they worked there as well... it seem to me Earl was trying to act like some big shot in front of them! He really needs to get the stick out his but! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!

Amazing deal! I used to go to VIDA Logan Circle for $105/month and struggled to find parking every time, regularly getting parking tickets.Here, its always a breeze to park in the garage and do my workouts, so Ive been able to come x5/week and get to my fitness goals.I find it easier to do my body and free weight exercises here, because theres more floor room, too.The trainer Anthony met with me initially to guide on a training program and always gives great suggestions when we see each other around the gym.Sure, there are no free towels, fewer classes or none for yoga, and no celebrity sightings, but that setup wasnt working for me.

Planet Fitness Ivy City location is a twenty-four location and a great place to workout at a reasonable price. More importantly Id like to highlight in my opinion the employee of the year. His name is Joe. When ever Joe is working at Planet Fitness he is make sure the facility is neat & clean. On 09/26/2019, at about 2:50 a.m. Joe was cleaning everything one minute he was cleaning the step machines and a few minutes later he had adjusted the treadmills so that he could clean them more efficiently. I dont know Joes last name but he speaks with what I believe to be a Jamaican accent. Joe is pleasant with the customers and should be commended for his outstanding work ethic.

I feel safe working out here during the pandemic

I was an avid member of this location for 2 years and genuinely pleased with the space and service, especially for the price point. However, after transferring my membership (originally provided through my employer) to my personal payment account, I ended up being charged a $15 late fee each month because my bank did not understand the autodraft ask and would delay issuance. NO ONE at this location thought it important to alert me this was happening each month (my bank statements simply showed a total of $25 from Planet Fitness, which I thought was perhaps the updated monthly fee because Id switched from my employer), and I found out after 4 months only by calling in about a different mistaken charge. I immediately canceled my membership after the manager offered only: I see how that might have happened without offering a refund or to make it right in any way.Long story short: Check your statements and call PF immediately if theres an issue. They certainly arent going to alert you if it means they make an extra few bucks off of your account each month.

Good for getting started, but lacks critical equipment for long-term progress -- particularly barbells. The smith machine just doesnt cut it for stability and functional strength. Still, very cheap, and a good first step!

I think Planet Fitness offers great fitness equipment without the expensive membership cost. The equipment is well maintained, its a nice facility, etc.Biggest complaint are the bathrooms. I cant speak for all locations, but the Washington, DC location off of NY Avenue is hardly maintained, its gross, the floors are slimy, the bathroom sinks counter tops are always soaking wet, it smells.Ive also given feedback and it appears nothing is being done. Not sure if this review will even matter.

They are really clean. It’s not a busy crowd. Customer service is excellent. They have self locks on the lockers which is a huge upgrade compared to others I’ve been to. And they are open 24 hours which is extremely beneficial it’s nothing I can say bad about the place.
