Great gym! Great location, great equipment, staff is awesome. For the curious, current mask policy is that you dont have to wear one with proof of vaccination (staff is all vaccinated, but they all wear masks regardless).
This place is sweet. I assuming when theres not a global pandemic its even cooler. Twenty bucks more than golds but you can go month to month instead of getting locked into a year contract. It has platforms, a boxing room, and has all the amenities as golds. Very very nice gym.
I was in town for work and stopped in to ask for a day pass. Everyone was super friendly and allowed me to look at the equipment. Came in the next day and had a great work out with all the equipment I needed. Will be back next time in town!
This is actually 100% your best option for a gym in the DC area. Not only does it have every piece of equipment you would need for a great workout but it is also very intelligently designed: The more popular equipment is found in abundance. This is a gym designed by people who actually know what it means to get a good workout and how to provide that experience for their customers.Further, the customer service is absolutely amazing at Body Smith Gym. They really care about their members. You will not be disappointed if you go to Body Smith Gym.Side note: You will be very disappointed if you go to Vida Fitness. If you have any desire to check out Vida Fitness, please read my review on Vida Fitness U St. Even if Vida Fitness werent immensely more expensive than Body Smith Gym, Vida still wouldnt be worth a second look.Vida Fitness should be avoided like the plague.
A great gym, fantastic and clean equipment, friendly staff. One of the staff helped me well when I was looking for a day pass to the gym and a parking lot. His name is Eric. I highly recommend this gym to anyone visiting DC.
“Despite the pricey membership, this gym has everything it should in order to compensate for it. A clean, well organized, colorful and clean set-up all make you feel very comfortable, and the staff is truly nice and helpful. There are lots of options for classes and programs, ensuring everyone can tailor their fitness experience in a great way. One of the best options in the area.”
I was a member of this gym for 1.5 years. The facilities were very clean and there was a wide array of equipment. I didnt usually have to wait for the machine I wanted to use, although it was occasionally difficult to get a squat rack or bench. The staff was all very nice, and the only billing error I ever had was quickly fixed.I also tried personal training for the last 6 months of my membership. I had 3 different trainers over that time period because of staffing changes, with some being better than others.
I like everything about BodySmith. Clean, efficient, well maintained. Super friendly and helpful staff and my personal trainer Reggie Howard is a ten on the one-to-ten scale.
In the wake of a global pandemic, BodySmith has managed to drop the ball on communicating with concerned members about payment options as the gym has closed. I have contacted BodySmith four times. Twice by phone, and twice by email (with bouncebacks) with no ability to speak with the person in charge of memberships. I was told by the worker on the phone that we would need a 30 day notice to cancel our membership although we never got a 30 day notice about a global pandemic that would specifically threaten my livelihood as a vulnerable individual. While that is not bodysmiths, responsibility, members of bodysmith never got a 30 day notice of the gyms closing, or any clarifications about what payment would look like, now that we have no access to the gym. I was told that along with the 30 day notice, which comes with a cancellation fee, I would be paying more than a months worth of membership dues for a global pandemic. More than that, if I wanted to simply put a hold on my account, it would only last 6 months and I would have to pay 10 dollars a month....to not have access to gym. Im upset with how BodySmith is treating this entire pandemic as if it shouldnt be their top priority to meet the needs of their members, and at least come up with a policy in these stressful times. To charge membership dues when no members can access the building is cruel, especially when many of us are losing jobs, and generally facing the blows of this pandemic to the face. BodySmith ought to be ashamed and need to rectify this situation as soon as possible.Edit (6/1/2020): BodySmith has put our subscriptions on hold and will not charge as long as gyms are mandated to be closed. Thanks BodySmith!
Came here as a walk-in while traveling. A good range of equipment in good working order, not too busy, and offered nice details like towel service and private showers. A bit on the pricey side, even for what it is (a $9 smoothie? Really?)
(9/3/18) My office is a block away from this gym. My partner and I saw the space was open this evening and stopped in to ask a few general questions. We were poorly greeted by an extremely rude bald male with braces sitting at the front desk. We smiled and spoke first in hopes of softening his harsh unwelcoming stare. He rolled his eyes and let out an aggravated sigh. He quickly recited membership options and class information in a bothered tone. He trailed off and told us to go to the website for more information. He didn’t offer us any cards or pamphlets. Honestly, I’m never one to complain.I can completely understand if someone is having a bad day, but his entire dimeanor was atrocious. And this is why some people dislike gyms, because they feel unwelcome. He gave off an elitist tone as if immediately he knew what type of people we were. In a city where gyms are a dime a dozen, I would hope that excellent customer service would be just as important as the health benefits offered. If this is any indication of how the rest of the staff treats members, then surely l’ll take my money and workouts to Balance, Elevate, or Orange Theory down the street. We were treated with such positive energy and kindness when visiting those facilities. And we’ll be sure to tell our friends and coworkers as well. Perhaps some retraining is in order?? After all, first impressions are everything.
Friendly staff, large range of great equipment on 2 floors...you realize how much you miss out on when you see a typical apt or small gym
Nice gym, but small. If you live really close and like not going to a packed gym.. this place is prefect. Everything is available when you want it unlike WSC. I could afford it and it was near my home I would def continue my membership.
Hey there I just want ask you guys about bodysmith gym what is your price for membership monthly can you tell me your price if you don’t mind
The clean, new machines, low key atmosphere is perfect to go in and follow your own workout schedule a few times a week. Plenty of cardio machines. A little light on weight machines, but its rare to have to wait for the machine you want.
Great gym as it has many things to offer in terms of classes and equipment! I strongly recommend boxing classes with Abraham.
Great gym, excellent personal trainers. I definitely would recommend this gym to friends.
I loved this gym so much its one of the few things I miss about DC. Never too crowded, the staff couldnt be friendlier, and it has absolutely everything you could need.
Refused to cancel my membership, continued to charge my card 5 months past cancelation. (still ongoing) Overpriced compared to the Y...especially when you are forced to pay for both.
Expensive, but clean.
