I have been coming to 202strong for a few years now, and its a wonderful gym. The coaches do a great job of welcoming people of all fitness levels and providing modifications if necessary, all while providing challenging and effective strength and HIT workouts. The other gym-goers are also supportive and friendly. Ive been impressed with how 202strong has adapted to the pandemic context, and Ive felt safe coming to the socially-distanced classes at the DC location. One of my favorite things is that the space is free from negative body/food talk (they dont even have a scale in the bathroom), which makes it a good space for anyone in recovery from eating disorders or diet culture. If youre looking for a truly welcoming environment where people know your name AND you can reach all your fitness goals, look no further!

Very great bodyweight workout! This exercise will push you and help you become better and stronger everyday. Working out at Audi field was a great experience. 202strong is the first gym Ive joined and the first workout Ive really been able to stick to. The workout changes every class so you never get bored. The coaches take time every class to break down all movements so theyre approachable for all levels and theyre always available. Attending the Girlstrong class has given me such a supportive and encouraging group of women, both coaches and classmates! This gym and this community changed my relationship to working out and made it something I enjoy!

Such an empowering, non intimidating and motivating environment. I love how theres a whole kitchen and workstation too! The workouts build off of each other so its not just random exercises daily. There are also classes that are just HIIT style with no barbell exercise. The coaches take time to really break down the barbell move for the day so its great for a first timer or regular to really focus on form and prevent injuries. The schedule is designed to come daily or even once a week so you can easily track your progress! You dont feel like youre thrown into a chaotic class of 30 people like some other studios and large chains. The coaches are all great and the owner coaches herself. Support local female owned business! I love the girl strong classes! Same barbell class as the regular but in an all female empowering environment!

I love this place—the most supportive coaches, the most accessible workouts (no matter your skill level), and the most positive atmosphere. I joined 202 when I first moved to DC about a year and a half ago and haven’t looked back. I’ve worked out consistently before, but was always anxious and intimidated about learning to lift. At 202, I feel strong and am just getting stronger! Do yourself a favor and join this community.

At first I was a bit intimidating by 202 strong classes, since I havent used a barbell since high school... but the class format and instruction is super clear and achievable and makes me feel SO STRONG! For me, this is a great complement to other workout likes HIIT, yoga, barre, spin, swimming, and team sports, and I could see how it would be even better if I could commit to several days a week - I absolutely love going to 202 strong!

I have been working out with Maddie and 202 Strong for 10 years! I just turned 60 and Im in the best shape of my life! The small gym classes allows for a personal training session feel but still gives you the motivation with having others around. And those others are all ages and levels doing the same class with potential modifications of the exercises! Learning to use weights and a bar bell properly has changed me forever and is so important keeping aging women healthy. I know many who jump around from gym to gym keeping it fresh, but Maddie and her staff of trainers keep it constantly changing and improving so your body doesnt get used to the same work out over and over. And now during the COVID era, her Zoom and Instagram classes are great and Ive kept in shape during quarentining. The overall culture of this gym is friendly, positive, and motivational! You cant go wrong with 202 Strong!

I love this gym! The classes are small enough to get the benefits of a personal trainer but mixed enough to not feel under a microscope. The groups are of all ages and skill levels, which makes it comfortable to take your own pace. The focus on form really distracts me from how intense the workout actually is. Ive never really been faithful to but maybe one other gym class in my whole life and Im pretty married to this one. Welcoming staff, easy to understand workouts, and focused on full body strength. Cant ask for a better class to do something different from the typical spin HIT workouts.

There is no intimidation factor, but classes are still competitive. Its the best box by far.

I can not recommend this place enough! I came across 202 Strong after a year of trying out different gyms and crossfit studios all over DC. After my FIRST Girlstrong class, I stopped trying out other gyms and never looked back. I was hoping to find an environment where I felt comfortable yet challenged (since I had never touched a barbell in my life), and im happy to say that at 202 strong, I have found not only that, but so much more. I have found a community of people who I love to work out with, which is not an easy thing to find in a big city. In only a few months, I have gotten more comfortable working out with weights than I ever thought I could. Give 202 a try; you wont regret it!

Awesome gym. I’ve tried a ton of different class-focused gyms (PEAK, Orangetheory, etc.) but this has been my favorite by far. You learn the correct way to do a variety of Olympic lifts in a completely unintimidating setting. I just finished up the intro month and went to the 202Strong classes 3x a week. Within 2 weeks I was already seeing and feeling results. A month in - I’m completely hooked.I go at the same time every day, and I love that I’m with the same people working out with the same coach every time. Really tells you something about the atmosphere and program when you see such a strong following. I honestly look forward to going each week and would 100% recommend.

First, its super-clean and smells nice!On to the important stuff...Its not your typical X-Fit box. The trainers are all well-versed in body mechanics and corrective exercise. What does this mean? It means as long as you follow the lead of the very experienced trainers (namely Rob and Maddie) you wont get hurt while youre getting fit. There is always a great deal of personal attention to form. The owners also take the responsibility of making sure all of their coaches maintain that philosophy (keeping all athletes safe and healthy).Youll stay injury-free while still getting a b@lls-to-wall tough, effective workout.

Literally stumbled into 202Strong after passing it a couple times on the way to work. At the time, I was struggling to find a fitness groove and figured that someplace close to my work in Farragut North might be a good option. After all, the best workout is the one that you actually end up going to, right?Indeed, 202Strong has been one of my favorite fitness experiences in DC in the 10 years Ive lived here. I mostly go to the GirlStrong (womens) classes with Caitlyn, and she is absolutely my favorite trainer and just a rockstar. She focuses on technique and is patient, kind, and super fun (great music in these workouts, folks!). Each 50 minute workout consists of a warmup, a strength (lifting) unit, and a HIIT circuit - all always challenging, different, and (in their own weird/torturous way) fun. Ive also taken Signature classes with Andres, LeeAnn, andTopher and enjoyed them as well.Im really appreciative of the owners (Maddie) responsiveness (whenever I have an administrative questions) and love love LOVE supporting this woman-owned fitness business. Would definitely recommend this place if you work anywhere in the Farragut North area and are looking for a great workout in a friendly environment.

Being new to CrossFit I was somewhat intimidated and a bit nervous to check out 202strong. But I forced myself to try out a CrossFit Class. Im glad I did as the first class was really fun, albeit a lot of sweat and intensity.Besides the really clean, neat and super well located venue, what I love the most about 202strong is the low key & super friendly staff & helpful trainers as well as the community from all walks of life and group ages. Its always fun to sweat, struggle and share a laughter together. Also, their athletic performance tracking and class-sign-up system is pretty cool and very easy to manage.Im a very happy camper and would def. recommend 202strong to anyone & everyone who would like to invest in being healthy, active and strong.

I did the trial membership for $79 and enjoyed it immensely. They are very beginner friendly (before this I never exercised regularly). I tried Girlstrong, FighterFoundation, Fighter Fitness, and StrongSignature classes. I loved Girlstrong because its all women and I got to learn how to lift without feeling self-conscious. My other favorite is Fighter Fitness – it combines self defense with some circuits for a really great workout. The class sizes are small enough for instructors to take time to correct individuals form. The changing room has showers and lockers. All the facilities are very clean. I started at 202 Strong (in DC) shortly after Thanksgiving Day and have been attending daily for almost two months now. It has been a great experience, the two week trial, which is more generous than any of the other Crossfit gyms I looked into, helped me make my decision. I went to sessions at 6pm and 7:15am to see if the gym would be crowded and worked out with four of the trainers including the gyms co-owners Maddie and Rob. The most members at any given time I feel has been 5. The trainers I have worked with have been amazing (Kevin is always willing to stay a little longer after class and help me figure out a specific movement). What drew me to signing up for a VIP membership was the fact that all the trainers place special care to ensure the athletes are properly warmed up for the exercises and that proper stretching is being done. Given the size of the class I have felt that I receive a good amount f individual attention which is very important to avoid injuring myself. I have done Crossfit before in NJ and NYC and this is the first gym that has a very clean locker room, showers, trainers that arent yelling at you but rather working with you and encouraging you in a positive way, a small class size and not feeling that you are rushed through either the strength or WOD sessions. The trainers are great at correcting your position or explaining the goal of the exercise and providing modifications when needed. I recall that prior to my first trial session, I had communicated with Rob via email and informed him that I had injured my ankles from running. Rob was very responsive and offered to look at my ankles after my first trial session to see what was the problem and perhaps what movements would potentially inflame the issue. Rob followed through and taught me how to modify certain exercises and what to do at home to help the area. This was when I realized that the gym cared about its members and that though there was no guarantee I was going to sign up they offered to help me in order for me to achieve my fitness goals. Needless to say I am very happy with my experience thus far! They offer other classes that I have yet to try and also nutrition advice.Keep up the good work 202Strong!

Ive been to a number of crossfit gyms throughout the US and even a few abroad, and I think that 202Strong really stands out as being the best. The main reasons 202Strong stands out are the excellent facilities, outstanding coaches, and a very welcoming community.First, the facilities are top notch. All of the equipment is brand new. They have all of the crossfit equipment youd expect, and they keep it very clean. Additionally, the bathrooms are nicer than pretty much any gym (crossfit or globo) that youll find. Not only do they have showers, but they have soap, shampoo, shaving cream, razors, mouthwash, etc. It basically feels like a bathroom at a high-end spa.Second, the coaching is very good. Ive been doing crossfit for several years now and Rob, Maddie, and the other coaches are consistently able to help me tweak small details that continue to improve my performance and contribute to my ability to work out regularly without injury. Beyond their ability to help me, Ive been very impressed with their versatility in helping other athletes and non-athletes of all levels. The crossfit community prides itself on being scaleable, but few crossfit gyms do a good job of instilling that in the culture. At other gyms, Ive often seen a lot of people feel pressured into doing weights and movements that they are not ready for. At 202Strong that is not the case. The coaching staff does a really good job of tailoring movements and weights to all levels of ability whether youre someone like me that has been doing crossfit for a while or someone that is attempting their first WOD.Additionally, the programming is great. Some crossfit gyms simply program intense workouts with the sole purpose of crushing you. I think that is one of the main reasons, crossfit sometimes gets a reputation for causing injuries. At 202Strong, the programming is much more thoughtful. The programming allows you to feel challenged every day, but it is not so intense that you cant come back again the next day. They also do a good job of steadily building strength and confidence in movements in each of their six-week strength cycles. It feels just long enough to make gains, but also short enough that you do not get bored with the movements. Finally, 202Strong has a very welcoming community. I came to 202Strong from another DC area crossfit gym and felt comfortable at 202Strong almost immediately. The coaches and other members are all very friendly and down to earth. No one takes themselves too seriously. Bottom line: if you are looking for a new gym in DC or just visiting, you should check out 202Strong.
