I took my young male cat to the emergency room at PVSEC this week with a complete urethral obstruction. The doctors and staff on site took amazing care of him from the day we dropped him off to the day we picked him up. The doctors and techs quite literally saved my cats life, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. Everyone that I interacted with either over the phone or in person was incredibly kind and compassionate. Everything was explained well to me and they made sure that I understood what was happening and frequently made sure to ask if I had any questions for them. I had a great experience here and am so grateful for the PVSEC staff. It was such a relief to know that my boy was in good hands! The prices are, of course, extremely high and out of reach for most pet owners. If you are able, make sure to put your babies on pet insurance so you can access emergency care without worrying about the cost. I would absolutely bring any of my pets here again for emergency care.

Folks, if you’re worried or wondering about your pet, this is the place to take them. You’ll feel welcomed, taken care of, and in the absolute best hands. They didn’t force anything on me or my pet, they gave me options for where to fill my script if I wanted to go elsewhere, they gave me advice on my pet for totally unrelated issues, and they were the nicest and most helpful people I’ve met. I’m thrilled with this team and facility. I wish they could be my full time vet!

Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, yet this emergency vet refuses to let people in with their dogs. Clearly its because they function better without the stress of owners around to ensure their dogs are taken care of properly. Theyd much rather work in secrecy. They dont call with updates. You have to call for any sort of update and when you do, every person on the phone tries to explain to you how emergency room triage works. I know how triage works - I want to make sure my dog is okay because this practice refuses to call with updates, even after I explained 2 or 3 times that Im an overly anxious dog parent and was promised they would alert me when my dog got x-ray or was seen by the doctor. Theyre not upfront about the fact that they kennel your dog, and when I called to ask about it two days later, the woman beat around the bush and didnt want to say that they kennel your dog. APPARENTLY, vet techs are constantly monitoring the animals, but they clearly dont pay enough attention since my dog came home with kennel nose. Additionally, I sat outside the entire time and witnessed periods of 3-4 hours where no new animals were brought in, yet my dog was still made to wait around. Overall, it was an absolutely horrible 10 and a half hour experience; in which my dog got kennel nose, was made to be stressed and alone, and had only been taken out to the bathroom one time for 35 seconds. Taken out to the bathroom once in over 10 hours? Really? Dont take your dog here if they can wait to see their primary, horrible experience for you and your pet. I should send them the bill for my dogs kennel nose treatment and visit.

I took my puppy here today after he experienced what seemed like a seizure. You call from your car and they triage the call then send out someone to get your dog. I understand why they dont want a bunch of maskless individuals contaminating their facility...kudos for that.. He was there about 4 hours total but the vet called me to update his condition & what they wanted to do. He explained everything & didnt push any needless tests. My puppy left there much better and with a referral to a specialist that we will pursue. I was actually surprised the bill wasnt higher. For emergency care I would definitely take my dog here again and its great theyre only a few minutes from my home!

Have taken my dogs to this location for 3 different issues, Dermatology, Neurology and most recently (yesterday) for Ophthalmology, I could not be more pleased with the care and kindness they continue to provide. Services can often be expensive, but as a pet owner, there are sacrifices that I have to overlook in order to get the best possible care. The doctors and staff are awesome and I am very happy they are available for the various specialties. The ER is also great! Thank You so much for everything!

They took care of my puppy when he got sick. It took them all day, but Im glad hes better now. Apparently theres a great shortage of vets and workers and an abundance of new pets (due to COVID). I took him in at 8am and didnt pick him up till after 10pm. It broke my heart, but when you have no other options, what can you do? My puppy is fine now, still licking ice cream cartons after were done with them (look at my profile pic).

We just wanted to say how compassionate and caring the people are here. We got turned away from MedVet, they wouldnt even consider seeing us so we went here. They had a 6 to 8 hour wait but when we told them what was going on with our 17 year old furkitty Shannon, they sent someone out to take her back to evaluate her. They told us they were very busy with other emergencies and we understood that and we know they were alot more serious than our girls was but, none the less, Shannons was serious. They called us back and told us that she definitely needed to be seen. They kept her comfortable til someone could see her. The people we spoke with were extremely nice, compassion and caring even through they were extremely busy. Thats how you can tell they truly care about their patients and their well being. We were their for over 7 hours but we understood. They explained everything to us in detail. We brought our girl home and she is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. We would recommend this place to EVERYONE! For an emergency, we would go anywhere else. Thank you so much for everything youve done for Shannon. We appreciate you all!!!

My one dog has been in oncology care at this location for 4 months, and I could not be happier with her progress and treatment. Dr. Urie and her staff are some of the kindest people I have ever met. My other dog has also been to this location for urgent care, and we were equally impressed with that visit. They always provide a cost estimate and present you with as many options as are available (ex. go home with treatment protocol or stay overnight for observation, etc.) along with their recommendation. But they leave the decision up to you because they are acutely aware of how impactful the cost of care can be if you dont have pet insurance.

I have to say I have been really unimpressed with this place. My poor dog is only 5 months old and is going on her third UTI. I waited over a month to get an appointment at this place to finally get some answers. After keeping my dog for almost 4 and a half hours, I get a call that an ultrasound was normal. The vet proceeds to then say that “sometimes this just happens” referring to dogs getting utis. I don’t feel like my dog was appropriately worked up at all.

The doctor was almost immediately able to identify her issues through description of symptoms and order the necessary tests and other workup to confirm the diagnosis and get our cat better and home as fast as possible. The staff were friendly and direct and they had a very good handle on how to run an emergency department. If only hospitals for humans were run so well. PVSEC was extremely caring, and compassionate when serving me and my pet. I lost me 5yo black lab Levi due to a seizure that he did not recover from. I took him to PVSEC in Washington PA, and they did all they could before having to euthanize him. We received a paw imprint, a urn with his ashes and his name carved into it, as well as a hand-signed sympathy card from all of the staff which really meant a lot to me and my family. This was the first time I have used PVSEC, but I will certainly choose them over any other vet from now on. They were also very reasonably priced. Your last concern when your pets life is on the line is how much it will cost, but PVSEC does not take advantage of pet owners under any circumstance. After running some diagnostic tests she was able to rule out the worst case scenario of uveitis. There is a phone call follow up in two weeks after continuing with additional eye drop therapy. All techs and nurses were extremely nice and professional. Dr. Cloonan was the emergency vet we saw. He was really great and actually came out to the vehicle to speak with us. He discussed with us about the different diagnoses that were possible with the symptoms Bruce (our bengal) was having. He explained everything clearly and allowed us to ask questions as needed. He talked us through what would likely happen during Bruces admission to the neurology unit and likely what interventions would be provided but that we would be called before any intervention. He also told me general times that stuff would happen (phone calls, testing, etc) and his estimation was spot on, which I certainly appreciate. Dr. Cloonan created an atmosphere that made me feel confident in choosing to bring our Bruce to PVSEC. This confidence continued when we received a call later that morning from Dr. Mackillop. His demeanor was confident yet extremely personable. He told us that he had assessed Bruce, watched the videos I had sent and felt certain more testing was required. Like Dr. Cloonan, he went step by step through what could be causing Bruces symptoms. He discussed that although he professionally felt the symptoms were neurological, he still made it a point to consult the cardiology team because of Bruces history. I appreciated Dr. Mackillop didnt cut corners to save time and work. Dr. Mackillop called me multiple times through the day giving me updates on Bruces tests results and care. He explained everything thoroughly and gave me his thought process through Bruces case, which I really appreciated. I cannot thank Dr. Cloonan and especially Dr. Mackillop for their extraordinary care for Bruce. We have a great sense of comfort that we did the right thing in bringing Bruce to PVSEC.Dr. Cloonan was the emergency vet we saw. He was quick to examine Bruce and gave us a very thorough discussion of what could possibly be going on. He explained really well how Bruces admission would go and likely what interventions would be completed. Discussed timeline of how the day would go (which was spot on!). I truly appreciate the accuracy of the timeline he gave us. He allowed me to ask questions and was very clear and concise while discussing Bruces care with me. Thank you, Dr. Cloonan.Dr. Mackillop was the neurology specialist vet that took care of Bruce. Dr. Mackillop was extremely professional, but also very personable. I could tell he genuinely cared about Bruce and interjected anecdotes of his own cats and even people to relate to the information he was discussing with me. As a registered nurse myself, I appreciate that he brought the discussion of Bruces care down to a level that even my husband (with zero medical background) could understand what was going on. I appreciate that he called many times to discuss Bruces care and after each step, he called to discuss the results and then discussed the next step. I couldnt have asked for better care for my Bruce. Thank you, Dr. Mackillop!Dr. Dewiler and Dr. Mackillop, thank you for your great anesthesia skills during Bruces MRI!To all the doctors, techs, receptionist, nurses, and support staff... thank you for your kindness during a time of great stress.- Rachel Balcourt (Tonkin)

Ive only ever had great experiences with PVSEC in Pittsburgh, and being relatively new to the area I was relieved when I learned that there was a PVSEC closer to my house.Unfortunately my giant dog fell ill and I contacted this facility to triage whether or not he should be brought in for emergency care or if we could wait to bring him to a regular Vet. I was told that I shouldnt wait to bring him in, and that due to his symptoms he should be seen. They told me that they werent that busy and that they closed by 4:00 PM so if we brought the dog there he would be seen prior to that time. Our dog arrived there at 12, and was taken back relatively quickly. Three hours later, we were told that they were running some tests and that they wanted to do an ultrasound to check for potential problems and that they would have to sedate him. And then we heard nothing from them until about 7:00 PM. No one answered the phone when we tried to check on the dog, and no updates were provided. At around 8:00 PM we were told that they were bringing the dog out and that they were going to give him a pain reliever and an antibiotic. This visit cost $650 and roughly 9 hours. My husband took the day off of work to bring the dog to the vet, because they told us he needed to be seen today. He left the house today at 11:15 (its about a 45 minute drive to this location) and as of 8:33PM he still isnt home. They could have told him at ANY POINT how long to expect and he could have gone home and I could have driven back to pick up the dog. Instead this facility, didnt answer the phone and provided sparse updates with no information on timing. By the way - if your animal needs to be kept overnight, they dont do that here. So heres to hoping that my dog does well after being anesthetized at their office.TLDR - If youre in the area and you need an emergency vet, but think your animal will make it the extra 45 minutes to the North Hills Office - go there. This facility will cost the same amount of money with a likely much longer wait time. So disappointed.

I was recommended to take my dog here after he hurt his leg while running since our regular vet was out of office for the rest of the week. When we arrived, I was taken back to a room where the nurse evaluated his vitals and asked about his background then we were instructed to head back to the waiting room until a doctor was available. We waited for over 4 hours in the waiting room before I had to go up to the desk and ask how long before a doctor was available. I understand that they take the more serious cases first, but with that being said, they should keep you updated with the wait time. The workers at the desk were also more worried about ordering dinner and talking to each other than keeping the pets & owners updated while waiting. Once the doctor was finally available, they barely looked at his injury and said it was “most likely” a tear or small sprain. They didn’t offer to do an x ray or anything of that type and prescribed him an anti inflammatory pill for a week. I would have been better off to wait and go to our regular vet in a few days. I paid over $350 for them to just take a look at him, after waiting for 4 hours+. I don’t doubt that they are great vets, but if you could possibly wait if it’s not an extreme emergency for your pet, you should wait to see your regular vet. We will most likely not visit again unless need be.

I don’t know know how they do it all with such grace. It has to be a very difficult profession and I was so grateful not to be treated like a number. They sent my family a lovely sympathy card despite this being the first time they met me or her. Also the cremation service was more than I hoped for. The ashes box was beautiful and so was the paw print. What made me the most sad and happy was they included some of Baileys fur. Thank you all who worked in the ER the night of October 28, 2019. Your kindness and professionalism won’t be forgotten.

My husband brought our boy Jack into the ER the night of May 3rd 2020. Unfortunately his issues were worse than we thought and we had to have him put down. I have never been shown as much compassion as we were shown here. In a day where vets are more about money than your pet that was not the case here. They took amazing care of Jack and handled everything for his cremation. We received a card today from them with their condolences. Thank you to all staff members. We appreciate you so much.

Excellent doctors and staff...wait was too long and we werent kept informed but it was a holiday so we have to presume they were short staffed. This is an emergency service...so it is expensive. BUT not as expensive as AVET who are incompetent beyond words. NEVER go to AVET...even if you dont choose here. 3 bad experiences with AVET...killers. The staff here however at PVSPEC treated my dog with every bit of love that I have...they even recognized how docile we has and didnt even put him in a cage! They let him roam free in the nurses room. AMAZING

I have never been to this hospital before and I would recommend it to everyone. We own a rottie her name is Roxie she is 8 in a half years old. She was suffering with a big open tumor on her toe for over 2 months and was in terrible pain. We had her back and forth to the vet with different tests and still an open wound suggesting it was an aggressive tumor and needed a leg amputation..... and they finally referred us to pvsec of Washington (thank goodness). The staff was so nice and helpful and super friendly. The surgeon Dr. Michael Kraun who our family and rottie think of as an angel and lifesaver took her as a consultant visit and to an amazing miracle turned into her surgery the same day. He was able to remove her toe only along with some other masses on different spots of her leg. He was wonderful and super nice and cares about your pet. He saved all our lives on Weds, November 4th, 2020 and we want to give a special thank you Dr. Michael Kraun and your wonderful staff who assisted. You all have a special place in our hearts. thank you so much from Joe, Cheryl, and Roxie Fallat

We sat in our car for 10 hours, did not get updates, had to call multiple times. There were cars coming in after us and leaving way before us. Got told my puppy was in a kennel and was extremely anxious seeing the vet. She hadn’t eaten since this morning and was in a kennel for 10 hours. We got charged over $400 for a worm pill, antibiotic, an X-ray and the consultation was $175. At 3 I was told she was being seen next by the doctor. I heard nothing and called again at 6 and they then said she was being seen next. Finally we got her back a few minutes before 9. We got charged for a night consultation when we got there at 11:30 in the morning. When we got our puppy back she was covered in sticky stuff and smells like puke. I get there are emergencies for other pets but we called multiple times and every time they said she was being seen next. Extremely frustrating when you’re sitting in your car worried about your dog and you are given no updates.

I spent $724 on getting my cat checked out and got zero answers expect for we need to do a MRI . The MRI cost $3,500 and after I told the Dr that I couldnt afford that they just sent him home with antibiotics and didnt do any further testing on him. Thank God I was able to get him into a regular Veterinarian and they completely made him better.

This place was seriously amazing, as someone who didn’t have them as their vet and had to use their services when my chloe bear passed, I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Not only did they go above and beyond with the care, they gave us a beautiful stained box with chloe’s name on it, a clipping of her hair in an envelope and a casting of her paw!! And then we received a card signed by EVERYONE that works there with a special little note!! More people need to know how amazing this place is!!!

Absolutely horrendous care. I called to let them know my dog may have ingested grapes which are a known toxin and that I had explicit instructions from poison control to give him Apomorphine to induce vomiting and activated charcoal to absorb any existing toxins. I waited a total of 5 hours calling every hour for a status update because they provided none. I was told every time that he would be seen by the doctor soon and was being treated by the technician. After hour 5, I demanded to speak with the tech that was treating him and she notified me that he had not yet received any treatment! This was a time sensitive issue and the window for the treatment had come and gone. I immediately took my dog and left. I was called by the doctor after leaving and she was incredibly condescending to me stating that in most cases, its not a problem and it didnt warrant immediate care. She went on to tell me that I told the tech he had already vomited so there was no need to provide the medication. I said no such thing and provided written instructions from poison control! She implied that I must have given the tech incorrect information and probably didnt realize I was because I was worried for my dog. Are you kidding me?! Ive spent tens of thousands of dollars at PVSEC for cancer care that was superb but I will never visit their emergency center again.

Took my cat to get looked at for What I believe a tooth abscess. I had appointment with our regular vet in a few days but I wanted to make sure my cat wasn’t in pain and possibly start a antibiotic until he could be seen my his own vet. I waited 4 hours in my car without a word while they had my cat in building. I called for a update and was told a emergency came in before me, and to “call back in a few more hours to check again”. 45 minutes later, vet calls to tell me it’s a eye infection. Then the sales pitch came. “We can run bloodwork, do some more tests...” since I had a appointment with my vet, I asked for scripts and my cat. More waiting. Tech calls to go over 4 scripts my cat is getting and then transfers me to billing. $385!!!! More waiting. After I pay they bring my cat out in a doggy pee pad when I sent him in with a towel. Don’t care about the towel but sent it in because it had my scent on it to hopefully help keep cat calmer/less stressed because he gets extremely upset at vet. So they couldn’t find it so I’m assuming my cat was put in kennel without it all that time. For 7 hours! I’ve had to take other pets here in emergency situations and have ALWAYS had a bad experience. They only care about money and take advantage of people when they are vulnerable. My pets are my family and no one wants to see a pet hurt, injured, or ill. $175 just to walk in and the rest was prescriptions that were overly priced! Will never go here again and will drive across the state if needed for a different emergency vet that won’t make me feel like a bad owner because I’m not paying for overpriced tests when they aren’t needed because my vet will do the testing (if needed) and at a much cheaper price.UPDATE: my cat DID NOT have a eye infection but a mouth disease called Stomatitis. My regular vet diagnosed it by just looking at my cats mouth! No eye infection at all and medicine that wasn’t needed. My vet said there was no possible way dr at er even looked at his mouth because it was very obvious with a glance. My cat is getting treated and feeling well.

I’ve been here 3 hours so far just waiting for my dog to see a vet. I’ve called 2 times. They already have all of his information from the regular vet. He has a blocked urethra and can’t urinate and so far they’ve gone from saying “we’ll take care blockage tonight and then surgery tomorrow” to “well we don’t know what we’ll do tonight, shift change” except it’s been “shift change” for an hour and a half now. At this point just praying my baby Rocket doesn’t go into kidney failure before they decide hes “critical enough” to see him. This place was our last resort, MedVet didn’t have the crew to do the surgery and this is the only other 24hr hospital around. I’m terrified this place is as bad as the one star reviews say and that by time they decide to look at my dog he’ll have kidney damage. Just crying in my car now, hoping this place does it’s damn job by some point.

We bought our dying cat into this facility at 12:45 a.m. We waited in our car for over 3 hours for a phone call to see how our pet was doing. We had to use restroom at a gas station during this time because no one was permited to enter the facility under any circumstances.During this endless wait time, we did not receive any phone calls to update us on what was happening with our deathly sick pet. When we finally called them, we were told our pet was next in line to be seen. We waited another hour and the vet called to tell us What we already knew. Our cat needed to be put down, but not before they asked for credit card and all the details that go along with that. We then waited another 10 min and my son was finally granted entrance to watch his cat being euthanized. To experience something this insensitive and completely devoid of any compassion was just not how one human being should treat another during one of the saddest and most difficult times in life.

Sat in my car for very close to 3 hours with no call. I called to see how my dog was and all of the sudden my dog was next to be seen. Vet was just now doing his blood work. Guess it’s gonna be another hour. I could literally hear my dog in the kennel barking. He doesn’t go in a crate at home and to think he’s been in there 3 hours and hasn’t been seen while he’s sick?! I understand if they are busy but he could of sat in the car with us while waiting to be seen. Just horrible!! No excuse for this. Have a person make calls with updates at the very least. Take your dog anywhere else but here. Not sure if they are understaffed or just don’t care.

Took him here they quickly had answers unfortunately he was not able to make it but we had answers and knew they would have done anything They could have to save him if it was possible. He had a large mass in his throat blocking 95% of his airway. Also they sent a very sweet card a few days later and they all wrote a little paragraph about our sweet boy which shows a lot about them as people as well. Our vet on the other hand sent a sympathy card with just names all written by the same person. Overall i was very pleased with our experience even though it was a very heart breaking outcome.

Cadillac service for the price of a Cadillac. (1) Experts in Veterinary Health; (2) State-of-the-Art Equipment & Facilities; (3) Commensurately Expensive. Intake of our injured cat was a bit traumatic: PVSEC would only admit him with a $1,500 deposit...for those of us who arent sitting on that kind of money, PVSEC has a partnership with Wells Fargo where you apply for a credit card on the spot...intake felt like a high-pressure, money-making scheme. We also had to sign a needlessly upsetting document saying that PVSEC would dispose of or destroy our pet if we didnt pay in full. I thought, This medical treatment had better be top notch. ...and IT WAS. Dr. Ramirez saved my 3-year old cats life. She performed an incredibly intricate procedure on my cat using state-of-the-art equipment. 2 vets before her said that we should consider euthanasia...on a 3-year old. She really, sincerely cared about our cat and about us...she is an expert in her field, and she will forever be on our gratitude list.

I had a bittersweet experience at PVSEC last week. While our 15 year old puggle “Bella”had to be euthanized, they did an exceptional job. Our vet could not get us in for an emergency appointment so I called PVSEC for the first time and they quickly gathered my info in a polite and professional manner and stated I could come as soon as possible. When arriving and calling from the parking lot, a n assistant quickly came to my car to assess and took her in immediately. I was then called within 10 minutes to be informed what I feared, euthanasia was recommended and while I was reluctant I agreed because I knew that was best. The vet was very compassionate and explained everything she was doing. The receptionist also has explained everything and gave the options in a professional and calming manner. They allowed me to be with her and I appreciate everything they did including not charging me any fees for examining beyond the euthanasia and cremation fees. Everyone there was wonderful to deal with and the hand written sympathy card in the mail today was the icing to this experience. Highly recommend!

Some people that work there, like a couple of the vets and Lindsey are all great, once you can actually get ahold of them. They took awesome care of my dog In an emergency situation. However, majority of the staff is lacking any form of professionalism or communication skills. I’ve never called a business and had the receptionist/tech just say “hello” not who you are speaking with, dept or job title. I did however have someone answer the phone with a mouth full of food, I gave them a case number, and they followed by, “Ok...bye,” click. They did make sure I was told upfront how much it would cost to get my dog in the door ($175) & I had to call poison control which also cost additional money. However, beyond them coming to get my dog in the parking lot & telling me to get a case number from poison control for them to get a treatment plan, I was never told what to do, what to expect, to leave, to stay...just that they charge by treatments for they do with your dog. After the conversation with the food girl, and an hour in my car, I had heard nothing, no update or “hey we haven’t even seen your dog yet” I called the unit to tell them I literally have been told nothing, besides “he’ll probably need to stay overnight” from poison control, and have heard absolutely nothing about the process, what should I do, will they call me or do I need to call them? And was told the vet hadn’t seen my dog yet but was aware of the situation, they are monitoring him and she would be with him next. Not exactly what you want to hear, but I’m not the expert.I then get a call around 45 minutes later from the vet who was very professional and seemed to care, however, neither poison control or the check-in receptionist gave her the correct story, which I had broken down, in detail, multiple times. So, apparently they not only have poor communication skills with clients, but goes on among the staff as well. Once I clarified the story, the dosage, the side effects, she told me she would keep him overnight, would call if anything critical happened & would call me in the morning with an update. Didn’t get that phone call, shocker. I was then transferred to billing put down a deposit and went home for the night. The next morning I attempted to call around 9 am and was told I would have to hold there are two people in front of me. I was at work, in a health care facility and this obviously was not going to work. I asked if they could call me, all I wanted was an update on his status and she said “sure they’ll call you in an hour” and click. After some time my husband tried to call for an update, I was busy and hadn’t heard anything; I then received a phone call from PSVEC in the middle of work, which I was expecting, but none-the-less had to stop what I was doing to take the call. A woman started telling me that a man called and was being aggressive with the staff, he wasn’t on the account and she shouldn’t even be telling him things. I then told her frankly that I am at work, PSVEC knows this, I was supposed to get a phone call over an hour ago. I said I’m sorry my husband is upset, his dog is in a hospital and were upset with the facility. I/We need an update, we still have been told absolutely nothing beyond “your dog will spend the night” I don’t want to be running in and out of rooms to be answering these phone calls unless it’s an update, also nobody ever asked me for “points of contact” every single time I called I never gave my name, just my dogs name. I was then told a vet would call me back. Meanwhile, I find out this woman put my husband on hold to call me, what she was trying to accomplish besides testing my threshold is beyond me. My husband will treat you exactly how you treat him...she was pretty condescending, she must not be able to take her own rotten demeanor. He then spoke to a Lindsey who gave him a full update (WAY better than mine) & explained everything the staff lacked from the night before. Once I was told my dog was stable I got him out, couldn’t deal with the crickets & unprofessionalism any longer.

Unfortunately, I had to take my cat to the ER after 4 days of treatment with our regular vet. Ultimately, she had to be put down. It was a terrible situation to be in, but it was the best possible experience because of the care and consideration of the staff, techs and doctors. Weve been through dire times with other pets and vets; nothing compared to how thoughtfully they handled everything. This place is a bit out of the way for me, but it is well worth the trip if you consider your pets family like we do. I will not hesitate to bring an pet here in the future. When I arrived I didnt realize my cat was in critical condition, but they recognized it and attended to her immediately. The staff and doctors were patient, listened to all I had to say about my cats situation, took the time to explain everything to me and answer all my questions. They put me in a private room to grieve and contemplate my decisions until I was ready to proceed. When leaving, they showed me a side exit to avoid walking through onlookers in the waiting area. Since my cat was too sick to be moved, they allowed me back in the ER with an offer to spend as much time as I needed with my cat before I had to put her down. Walking into the ER, I was impressed by the attention and care I saw them giving to the many other animals they had back there. When I got to my cat, they already had a box of tissues ready for me and gave me a clay ornament with imprints of her paws and name on it as a memento.

Sadly, our dog was too sick to survive. The staff from the moment we arrived were so kind and very attentive to our Gideon the entire time. Dr. McCormick was very empathetic and kind to our family. They have gone above and beyond in my opinion. They gave us a baked clay disc with his paw print and his name engraved in it, which brought tears to my eyes. I never expected that but I love it so much! They even called us a few days later to see how we were doing and to offer information on grief counseling that they offer. I feel like they do a great job here. They give quality emergency medical care and diagnosis. It costs alot. But its less than the same tests for a human and the care is just as good as any emergency room perhaps better even because they deal with creatures who cant tell them whats wrong. If we all had health insurance for our pets like we did for ourselves we wouldnt feel as much of a sting on the cost. But these guys treat your pet 24/7 no matter what. I think overall its worth it to offer this service and it likely saved my dogs life.

I knew immediately that patient care was their #1 priority!! Not only for the animals, but for the owners as well! Being a stay at home mom of a 2 year old and new to the area I had no choice but to bring my daughter in with us. When we agreed that saying goodbye was best for my pup, Dr. Tyler offered for the front desk staff to look after my little one so I could be with my sweet girl in her last moments. If I could give them 0 starts I would. We took our 10 week old kitten there 6/21 as he was lethargic and really warm to touch. PVSEC made us wait in the hot car 10 minutes before I called to have them come get him as he was getting more warm. My kitten was there for 2 hours, when they gave me a call saying they didn’t know what’s wrong with him and I could pay $1,500-3,000 to hospitalize him for up to 48 hours and give him urine test OR I could take him home feed and water him and take him to my vet the next day 6/22. I let them know I don’t have the funds for that but I was approved for care credit so I would like to hospitalize him. They called me back and told me they think it would be best if we took him home and took him to the vet the next day. I was charged $550 for NOTHING. PVSEC did a SNAP test, X-Rays, and gave him fluids. My kitten was not eating or drinking when I brought him home he wasn’t feeling any better and still warm to the touch. I took him to the vet the next day and they were astonished that they did nothing for him and his fever didn’t even drop 1 degree. The vet I took him to found out he had an infection, anemia, and ear mites that PVSEC didn’t even notice or treat. The vet treated him with Antibiotics, ear mite meds, A/D food, and lots of fluids, they also scheduled daily appointments to check his temperature and give him fluids. The vet I went to ALSO called today to check up on my kitten Luca. PVSEC didn’t call to check up on him or ask how he’s doing they didn’t even want to help us. A waste of our time and money. The vet I took him to after my terrible experience at PVSEC charged me $375 and now 4 days later he’s eating and drinking his fever is nonexistent and he’s happy and healthy.
