I recently moved and my last dentist told me I had some cavities developing but they didnt do anything about them. I came to City Dental expecting to have several and of course had to get a bunch of fillings. However, the hygenists and dentist were very professional and gave me all my options, as well as a new toothpaste to help prevent future cavities. The fillings went fine, though I had to go back to get one fixed since my bite wasnt quite right and was hurting my gum, but they fixed it all very quickly and with no problems.

I had to change my dentist to here since they are very close to home. Havent been to a dentist in a few years so had a lot of things to handle: had a cavity, chipped tooth, filling repair and needed updated xrays and cleaning. Outstanding from start to finish. The admin team is helpful and communicative. The hygienists are friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. My Doctor was professional and her work was perfection. Their equipment is state of the art with 3D imaging and capability to build custom crowns on site, so no waiting for lab returns. Very impressed, happy with my dental work and highly recommend them.Thank you City Dental DC!

I recently contacted City Dental DC for an emergency visit. Yvette Bailey graciously assisted me with getting on the attending dentists schedule. She was very understanding about my concerns and conveyed them to the dentist. Dr. Tsaknis squeezed me into his very busy schedule and took the time to explain to me why I had discomfort. He did not make me feel like an imposition. My dentist is Dr. Styron. She explains things thoroughly before, during, and after the procedures. She does excellent work. I highly recommend her to anyone who is nervous in the dentists chair.

I was at Dr Tsaknis office, and I recommend it! Excellent professional! Without a doubt the best dentist Ive ever been to! I arrived very disappointed, imagining that I would have to make 2 root canal, spend a fortune, but no, he managed to save my tooth! He explained to me every detail of everything, as was my oral health, what may have happened, tips on what to do to improve! I couldnt ask for a better professional than him!

Ive been a patient of this practice since 2007 and love it! Everyone here is kind, knowledgeable, thorough, and caring. During my time with them, I have had major, moderate, and minor procedures in addition to routine checkups. A strong recommend - Dr. Tsaknis and his staff are 100% fantastic! I have never had any issues and always recommend them to friends and family.

Im not usually inclined to post negative reviews, but after seeing the comments on Yelp (please go read them) that exactly mirror my experience with Dr. Tsaknis, I feel obligated to caution others. I thought it was just bad luck the pain and expense Ive experienced over the past two years as a result of three unnecessary fillings. As it turns out, lying to people to generate revenue from fillings and then performing them quickly and carelessly is standard operating procedure for him. Id give anything to go back and seek out a second opinion and youd be best served to avoid him.

My 5 yr old just got two fillings. They were patient, gentle and informative.update: my 2 year old knocked a tooth (it bent back) and we were in sheer panic but City Dental saw us for an emergency visit on a Sat evening and even examined my daughter in the car (she passed out from screaming so much). All was well we bent the tooth back and its still working a year later, albeit a bit discolored.

CityDental has masterfully placed locations in convenient areas for working professionals, making for the easiest of access. I also frequently see their advertisements at my local Safeway. What really solidified my decision to use Dr. T was CDs Google reviews -- 4.0 stars. This dentistry is a great illusion. Do not fall for them for the same reasons I stated above. The entire operation is an unpleasant sham.Bedside Manner. Excluding one receptionist named Jason, the staff are out of sync. I could go into granular detail, but I will only note the most memorable: my x-ray technician did not care about comfort levels, and ignored me when I told her the mouth piece was uncomfortably piercing the roof of my mouth. She also was in such a rush (they definitely overbook, and thats made evident within the 1st five minutes) and her tone was extremely impatient and unprofessional. A bizarre experience.Dr. T: He comes off as a condescending salesman. I am in my mid-twenties, and he made sure to excessively mention that whenever possible. I sensed no respect from him. He was engaging with me as if I were a child, rather than a young professional -- or more importantly, as his patient. He attempted to upsell me several times and mentioned my insurance even more so. I understand that information is useful when discussing procedures, but there is a heavy emphasis on insurance payouts at this practice.Medical Analysis. I have never had a cavity, but it had been several years since I had seen a dentist and anticipated some bad news due to my absence. My X Rays, however, showed no damage. I did have one spot on a tooth, and Dr. T told me we might as well fill it in while hes in there (referencing my cleaning).Procedure. The filling procedure was abysmal. They numbed me before the hygienist began my cleaning. That meant for 35+ minutes, I was uncomfortably receiving a cleaning while partially numb. By the time the Dr. came in, I was not fully numb, and could feel the drilling. He was yelling at his Staff about my not being numb enough. Also, the procedure was entirely rushed. Based on office chatter, it was clear that there was confusion re which room I should have been in, the timing of other patients procedures, etc. Needless to say, there were probably others waiting to be seen yet already numbed for their procedures. After approximately five painful minutes, when he was done, I told him I could still feel the filling in my mouth. He hastily drilled me down; I could still feel it. He drilled more.. I could still feel it. He reattempted 3 times before I could no longer feel the filling.Almost 2 weeks later, I am in so much pain from my likely unnecessary and shoddy procedure. After my appointment, I looked up the practice on Yelp, where the reviews accurately reflect this dentistry. Hundreds of reviews all affirm that 1) the staff is unprofessional and disorganized; 2) Dr. Ts bedside manner is bizarre and unsettling; 3) misdiagnoses of cavities, wherein patients sought a second opinion from a different dentist; 4) rushed procedures; and 5) money-hungry insurance collectors.I also took another look at those Google reviews. Not only does Dr. T violate HIPPA when he discloses patients medical records or histories when responding to negative reviews, but there seems to be fake reviews posted on Google as well. There are a few instances where the same user has recently given two different dentists 5-star reviews within the same time-frame (why would a person go to 2 different dentists 3 mos. apart?), and there was also an overlap in reviewed locations (e.g. multiple reviewers who have only reviewed CityDental and a frame shop, photographer, etc). Notwithstanding that, the majority of reviewers have only reviewed CityDental -- this could indicate click-farm behavior. There are obvious suspicions when looking at the Google reviews -- especially considering that ALL other websites have City Dental at 2 or lower stars.

Read the Yelp reviews, and run. I was misdiagnosed with multiple cavities (I have not had a single cavity since 4th grade) and was repeatedly told all four of my wisdom teeth needed to be removed as they were causing decay of my other teeth. I went back to my old dentist (I only changed because I moved offices) and learned I had NO CAVITIES and there was no need to remove my wisdom teeth whatsoever. Seriously, read the Yelp reviews, and find another practice.Update post related to Dr Tsaknis reply: Dr Suh did NOT diagnose me with cavities nor did she tell me to remove my wisdom teeth. The “issues” were I was not flossing enough which could lead to gingivitis. And one either has cavities or they don’t, it’s not a matter of opinion. Nice try through...

My husband had been relying on this practice as they were easy to schedule/took his health insurance. However, they advised him on unnecessary procedures. He underwent the procedure thinking he was listening to a professional.... he had an infection afterwards that required 2 rounds of antibiotics and another procedure. It sounds like they messed up big time. From what I can gather, they caused the tooth/teeth to decay faster.

Dr. Tsaknis and his team at City Dental are the absolute best. Straight shooter and doesn’t waste time. I used to hate my dental visits and bounced around quite a bit previously because some practices care more about profits and less about patients. Not the case here - at all. Dr. Tsaknis cares about the patient, and his/her wallet, and will offer solutions that make both medical and financial sense. Lauren is also my hygienist and she is incredibly professional and makes the process enjoyable enough to where I don’t find excuses to not come in. Highly recommended. Your smile, and your breath will thank you.

If there was a negative five star review, thats the one Id choose. Dr. Tsaknis is unprofessional, overly aggressive in recommended treatments, works on multiple patients during your appointment wasting everyones time (procedure that should take an hour max two will take three or four hours), does not give full attention, distracted, left work unfinished. Ultimately, if you are going for a cleaning, youre fine. But for anything else, look elsewhere.

I think the biggest issue is with billing. They messed up one of my cavities and when adjusting they charged me without telling me they were going to bill me for the adjustment. They also charged my insurance, which I do not think they were supposed to do. They snuck in the charge after a checkup and I called multiple times to speak with someone from billing. The front desk took a message but no one has ever gotten back to me. Frustrating. The experience is ok. They like to upsell for silly things ($40 for a flouride mouthwash rinse) and it often feels like youre in a retail store . They also over-prescribe cavities to, presumably, get that insurance money. Didnt have any cavities or sign of cavities in a checkup with my previous dentist, then all of a sudden had 5 cavities at my first checkup.Otherwise theyre standard3/5 dentist, 1/5 everything else

Absolute nightmare. Dr Tsaknis is gruff and has no bedside manner. I had to go back 5 times to get fillings adjusted because they rushed each one and wouldnt listen to me when I said it felt wrong. I told him I was experiencing a lot of anxiety about one of my teeth since it hurt and he did not take any care to talk me through it.Furthermore, Dr Tsaknis made fun of the obese woman on a tv show the whole time he was drilling my tooth. At the end of last year, I came in for my bi-annual cleaning which included a laser decay analysis. For whatever reason, Dr. Tsaknis came in to discuss the results instead of my appointed dentist. We got off on the wrong foot when Dr. Tsaknis asked me, Were you a good girl this year? Did you get everything you wanted from Santa? I responded with my usual snarkiness, pointing out that as a professional woman with a job, I did not need to wait for Santa to buy me presents. The exam continued to go downhill after that. Dr. Tsaknis looked at the laser decay analysis and found 6 cavities that needed immediate intervention. He pressed me to schedule the procedures right away or I would be looking at root canals in the future. I made follow up appointments but did not feel right about the interaction. After some thought, I postponed my follow-up meetings with Dr. Tsaknis and scheduled an appointment for a second opinion with a dentist at another office. I had x-rays done and the second dentist found no cavities.Due to this uncomfortable interaction with Dr. Tsaknis and misdiagnosis, I am no longer a patient and I would not recommend others to this practice.I tried to list this in yelp but it was archived in the non recommended reviews. So Im posting it on Google instead.

I have been coming to Dr Tsaknis for over 5 years. My name could be on the DentalBug hall of fame (or shame) for the amount of work Ive come in for. Crowns, onlays, fillings, root canals, apicoectomy, cleanings and a night guard- and many, many shots of Novocain or whatever anesthesia the treatment du jour called for (with a lot of patience and empathy to boot.) I take full responsibility for all this work: meaning, in no way do I ever think any of it was unnecessary, excessive or misdiagnosed. Au contraire- I took horrible care of my teeth in my teens and 20s (the braces didnt help) and am now dealing with the consequences in my 30s. I am incredibly grateful for the skill, patience, fully transparent options and professional guidance from Dr Tsaknis and other doctors in his office have given me through so many procedures. I am TERRIFIED of my mouth being drilled in- the smells, the pressure- its enough to make me faint- and somehow, in the care of DentalBug, I feel more confident and ultimately relieved, with the condition of my teeth and gums. The staff is efficient and helpful and the doctors are top notch. The product treatment quality, detailed information given to help me make decisions, and temperament of the doctors are all what has kept me coming back. Highly recommended.

This would have been a five-star review if it werent for Dr. Tsaknis, The Angry Dentist (tm).Dr. Jeanette Suh, her assistant and the front office were all great. Unfortunately, I learned after the appointment that my insurance only fully covered fillings done using a cheaper material than had been used. (I hadnt been told of this beforehand.)I wrote Dr. Tsaknis a note saying that, although I really liked the staff, the upgrading of materials without advance notice left a bad taste in my mouth. The difference in cost wouldnt have been a big deal -- except Tsaknis personally called me to be hilariously rude.Over the course of a 15 minute conversation, Tsaknis accused me of making threats and blackmail for having written that I wouldnt recommend his firm based on its business practices. He also went on to question whether I was employable. (Yes, I do have a job -- but thats not the point.)The funniest thing about this is that Tsaknis seemed really, really worried about me leaving bad reviews for him online -- he kept bringing it up -- yet he couldnt seem to stop insulting me. So heres my review as promised, doctor!
