I originally went to Tire Warehouse, with a scheduled appointment, and was told Id have to wait until theyre done what theyre doing, maybe a few hours. I drove towards work (at TF Green Airport) and decided to stop on this little road, as Ive passed by Robs for the past year Ive lived here. I pulled up, rolled the window down, and simply asked if they had time. I was in and out in less than 25 minutes. My tire kept leaking air, and I needed to verify that it wasnt because of a bent rim - and I couldnt initally see any type of foreign object in the tire. The tire got 2 plugs and they charged me a great price. Definitely would recommend and Id definitely return.
Had a transmission rebuilt on my wifes 2006 Monte Carlo SS here, and was told they were using better than factory parts to rebuild it so it would outlast the car... Less than 3 years later had to replace it AGAIN with a remanufactured transmission...To Owners Response on my review:Well, it was $3600 (and change) to have the transmission rebuilt. Those words (as you call them) were used about 5 or 6 years ago? by YOUR staff when we had the work done. They even explained what parts would be upgraded by having it rebuilt instead of replaced. (Which is why we chose to have it rebuilt) And the extended warranty was even more money (at $3600 for a rebuild, it should have come with the extended warranty) I think we got about 32,000 miles of driving before it had to be replaced. Call it what you will, but it was poor workmanship. Which is why we went elsewhere to have it replaced, and its still running, (60, 000 miles+) with no issues to this day.
I recently brought my F 150 truck to them for them to install a transmission i purchased for it. They had the installation done in 2 days. I am extremely happy with their service and professionalism. I am so very satisfied that i will continue to do business with them.
I went originally for a freeze plug and ended up needing more than I originally thought, they were great with a price and were fair on labor. When finished my car didnt feel right but Rob contracted me to ask how it went and I voiced my concern. He offered to have it looked at and after getting it back it drives perfectly normal. And I wasnt charged for the second time I brought it in, highly recommend.
I had my transmission rebuilt at this place of business, Ive yet to pick up my vehicle and drive but im anxious and excited too. Most likely there will be a follow up to this post. However i can honestly say they have one of the best techs ever handling their transmission jobs. He brought me into his work space and explained how he took my transmission apart and rebuilt it. He took the time to explain how my transmission had broken down, and which components had failed. Rob and Dave are also stand up guys, they never ran from any question i had, and always kept it honest.
The people at robs are great!! I had major problems with my dodge 2500 they gave me a price and came up below what they quoted also they kept in touch with me on the issues that arose. I also had a problem right after the installation I brought it right back they found the issue and fixed it . I can honestly recommend Rob‘s transmission to anybody that wants to job done right fear and honestly .
Here is picture of truck (my baby). On Christmas Eve day my car started making a horrible noise. About eight months ago I had a transmission issue and I went to Robs Transmission and they did a great job, at that time I found out he did more than transmissions. So that day I called the shop, even though it was Christmas Eve Day he called back, suggested who to call for tow because I did not know what to do. The Monday after Christmas he called to check on me because the car was not there and he knew how upset I was. I told him the tow company will tow it in Tuesday morning. When it got to Robs basically he determined that my motor was blown. I was so upset I had no money to buy a new car and even though my car is old I love it. Rob gave me a lot of options to choose from and was completely honest with all the choice, either junking it, fixing it, or replacing the motor. I finally decided to put a new motor in it even though my family thought I was crazy. Rob helped me get a price I was comfortable with and even offered financing. That price never changed, it was the exact price he quoted me even though it was more work than expected. He worked with me personally to make sure I was comfortable with my decision and never once tried to upsell me. I got my car back with a new motor and it runs like a brand new car. I could not be happier with both the customer service, and the mechanical expertise that was given to me. I can tell you that I will NEVER EVER bring my car anywhere else. If you need an honest reliable mechanic call Rob’s. He does more than just transmissions and he does it right.
People are amazing very good at what they do fast service definitely go there again and recommend.
My experience with Robs was great. They were accommodating with all of the special requests I had. They diagnosed my clutch, waited for me to get my own parts (they offered, but I had something specific in mind) and installed fairly quickly. Very happy with how my clutch replacement feels
I was referred to Robs, by Midas when I learned that there was an issue with my transmission. I was so glad they referred Robs. Dealing with the staff was a very pleasant experience, the price was so much less than I thought it would be. I would and have recommended Robs to family and friends. 5 stars!!! I am their customer for life now!
Mice ate my harness. Which should have been an easy thing but then a wave of storms hit, delaying delivery; when it was delivered, it was the wrong part; and then another wave of storms hit delaying delivery of the replacement part. Through it all, Robs was really good. Every time I called for an update they were professional, transparent and nice. Once we hit a clear spell, part arrived and they were able to do the installation. I put it through its paces and the work is solid. Later the week I picked it up they did a follow up call to see how it was doing. The price was on the spot, everything clearly explained etc. I will definitely use them again.
When I called, I was told they would look at my truck right away and to bring it on in. For a fix that was going to take a day, maybe 2, turned in to over a week. I only received one call letting me know what was going on and every time I reached out, I was told that it was being worked on, its just going up on the lift and my favorite, its next to go in the garage. My big disappointment it how it was strung along. I rented a vehicle for the week and ended up turning it in 2 days too early, as I was told, itll be done by the end of the day, then the following day, the same reply. When I finally got my vehicle back, I went out into the dirt lot and found my truck, because God forbid it be pulled up to the front and explained the work completed or looking for customer satisfaction. The backseat looked like it was ransacked as well as my middle console. The vehicle looked like it was parked under a sap producing tree, even though there wasnt a tree around. I did mention my concerns and even asked if the price could be adjusted, thats when I got the blank stares and a simple no. No conversation, no apologize for taking so long or anything of the sort. Only reason I gave Robs a second star is the truck was eventually fixed.
Robs repaired my vehicle quickly and was quite affordable. Technicians are great. Truck runs great and I’m a very happy customer. Thank you
They quote one price then up it and fix items that without asking also did a poor job redoing my clutch. There where bolts loose lost one for my transmission bell housing not repaired properly I took my truck to another mechanic that and had everything properly checked and fixed Ill never go here ever again
This is a follow up to my initial review, which you can read below. I asked Robs Transmission to diagnose why the transmission light came on as well as change the transmission fluid and filter. When I picked my car up, Dave stated that they couldn’t change the filter due to it being inside the transmission. My car, which I just purchased, has a DSG transmission. Knowing the DSG transmission is different than a automatic transmission, I took his word for it. Prior to bringing my car to Rob’s Transmission, I asked if they serviced DSG transmissions, which they said they did. I recently took my car to a German repair shop. I told them I had the transmission fluid changed but not the filter due to it being inside the transmission. The shop stated that the transmission filter isn’t difficult to change, because it’s directly under the battery compartment. They said it should take 15-20 mins to change the filter with all the right tools. Due to the transmission filter not being changed by Rob’s Transmissions, which I paid $114 for Rob’s Transmission to do, I had to pay to get the fluid changed a second time within 2 weeks of getting it changed the first time. Clearly Rob’s Transmission doesn’t service DSG transmissions. If they did, they would have known where the filter was and changed it. I do not appreciate the dishonesty. Nor being charged for a service that wasn’t completely done the first time. I will not be taking my car to Rob’s Transmissions ever again.Initial review:I am very pleased with my experience with Robs transmission. My cars check engine light came on and I took it to this shop for diagnostics. Robs transmission, specifically Dave, was very helpful in explaining what the issue was with my car. I called several times and was able to communicate any concern or question I had with Dave. He responded every time. I received very friendly, honest, and decently priced service. I would recommend Robs Transmisson and Auto Repair to anyone in RI with car concerns. They definitely have my business! Thanks Again!!
UPDATE 2/29/20This place is the REAL DEAL.HONEST, RESPECTFUL and ACTUALLY know what they’re doing. Brought both of my mustangs on different occasions and they were more than helpfulAll in all, my mustang is running. They were honest about what was really wrong with it, unlike other businesses.I am satisfied and look forward to continue bringing my vehicles there(40 min away) and sending my own clients-Jeff Borges
I have 2007 Monte Carlo, started having a transmission issue. Brought it to Robs, they verified the worst, transmission gone. So I am dealing with a one car family and taking time out of work is difficult. I know I have to get this car towed out of their lot. They are the best they could have charged me to check the issue and leaving the car there for 2 days. If you have car issues or transmission issue please go here!!
Great service great price I was not in the mood to go out and spend money on getting a tune-up but my cylinders werent firing the way I wanted them to and the car wasnt running great and I thought it needs a tune-up thats the place I took it too before I went and got my inspection done and the car still to this day 11 months later purrs like a kitten.
Just had my 2010 Cadillac DTS transmission replaced at Robs Transmission. I have to say Rob is the most honorable respectable and trustworthy person I have ever met. He went above and beyond the Call of Duty for someone he never met. I highly recommend him and I suggest you be honest and upfront and he will work with you! I highly recommend Robs transmission for all your mechanical needs!!! Thank you again Rob and to your Associates!!! BTW caddy is running love!!!
This guy runs a great business. Even tho he was slammed he diagnosed my problem and fixed it fast and perfect. Highly recommend Robs. These guys know what theyre doing!
100% Satisfied with Robs! I highly recommend everyone go there! They were a pleasure to deal with and my car was done on time and under original quote. My car has never run as good as it does after Robs rebuilt my transmission!!They now have me as a customer for life! Thanks Rob!
This is among the most dishonest business I’ve ever dealt with. Purchased a truck 7 months ago for 4K, was told it was all in great shape. Took it to get state inspection at the same place after 800 miles. First it was $3,750, asked him if they just sold me a truck that was in “great shape “ how could it possibly need that much repair? Drops price to $1700 (no business would do that for damages or wear.) so I felt burned when I paid that and had to come back after code clears. I knew they would try to add additional charges. Avoid the headache and go to a mechanic that has good reviews and don’t buy their junk.
I am one happy Mama thanks to Robs for an outstanding, professional, knowledgeable, pocket-friendly business!! They handled my transmission rebuild in a timely manner making sure I was fully informed every step of the way with no stone unturned! I will most definitely be doing business with them again!
I was having transmission issues with my car. After calling around and getting different quotes, a very good friend recommended Robs. I went there on a Saturday to speak with Rob personally. I was taken aback on how informative, pleasent, and welcoming Rob and his staff was. Because it was a big job and my expenses were limited, he understood that and worked with me. Needless to say, I dropped the car off of the following Saturday and the car was done in just over a week, because I told him there was rush. I have been driving the car daily since I picked it up and it has been running like a new car. Rob and his staff did a great job and because of that, he picked a new customer, hopefully I will not have to see him often, but if I do, I will feel very good about him working on my car. I will recommend him to anybody for anything that needs to be done to your car. Thank you again Rob for your professionalism and your excellent work!
This place is awesome . My car was in and out in a day, and the work comes with a warranty and roadside assistance. I cant begin to tell you how many times car places have tried ripping me off because Im a young girl but I could tell from the minute I started talking to rob he was straight forward and honest . Thanks again for squeezing my car in last second and helping me out . You have my business for life :)
This place is great! After I dropped my car off I quickly changed my mind and told them not to look at it because I was pretty sure of what the problem was. When I went to go pick up my car they had actually inspected my car FREE of charge! Thanks guys!
The treat u fair & do good work. We bring all our trucks there to be serviced & inspected.
Have been coming to Robs for bout little over a yr. My mechanic closed due to a fire and Robs was actually down the street. So i decided to give them a try. Its hard to find someone whom you can trust with your life line. And i did. Staff is great, polite. Thank you
Can handle all my car repairs.
This shop is great! Rob and his crew are very accommodating, honest, and professional. I had called a garage in Coventry that came highly recommended for transmission repairs. The Coventry shop didnt return my calls and when i did speak to the owner, he had no time or desire to look at my vehicle. I went to two other transmission shops and both were eager to replace my transmission for $1700 to $2500! When i saw the inside of their shops I couldnt believe the level of disorganization and mess they were working in. One shop owner couldnt find his screwdriver and had to look for it somewhere in his shop before he could attend helping me at the counter. I saw Robs ad here online and decided to take my truck to him because my transmission was slipping bad. His shop was very clean and organized so I decided to give him a chance. He talked me into letting him troubleshoot my transmission before deciding to just replace it as other shops had suggested. WHAT A GREAT CHOICE I MADE! Rob and his crew discovered that there were 2 sensors that went bad and threw off the shift timing of my truck, and $280 later my truck was good as new again!!!!! I have since used Rob and his crew for my oil pan replacement, and once again perfect..., no mess or leaks! Rob backs up his work, and is very thorough. Its hard to find a quality mechanic (as Rob himself jokes I know, ive been looking for one myself for years), so this place is a treasure! Robs transmissions is the one stop shop for your auto needs that you can trust!
Rob and his staff are simply the best and most honest. Takes the time to properly explain whatever situation may arise.
My 2001 Honda Accord was having transmission problems. I took it to Robs 6 years ago at 108k miles. They rebuilt my transmission and now my car is at 198k miles and the transmission is still working. Great job by Robs transmission, quality work done right the first time. Thank you for the work.
Went there today expecting to be told to come back at another time but they took my car in right away and fixed my shifter so I can now not worry about getting stuck somewhere. Thank you! This was a great experience and the office staff was great too!
Good work on car replacing transfer case; but lacks communication with customers
Robs Transmission did an excellent job fixing my Honda accords transmission. They were professional and friendly. The transmission job lasted beyond the extended warranty. I would recommend their services to others.
I had another shop rebuilt my transmission and they messed it up. Rob’s dropped everything and fix the transmission in a couple of hours!100% trustworthy people and very professional! Thanks Rob
Go to aamco he is charging you the same prices and he was aamco trained worked for them for years thats why hes such a well you figure it I walked in the shop and I walked right out
Great service and communication. The owner was very open and took his time to explain a low cost flush for my transmission. The office staff was very good as well..Car runs great now at one third the cost the dealer wanted.
Honesty is a transmission repair guy who adamantly tells you, both before and after diagnosing your cars dramatic power loss, that he doesnt believe your transmission is at fault -- then fixes the problem by replacing the catcon at about 1/6 the cost of the most basic transmission repair.Dont get me wrong, these guys are good mechanics too, but honesty is paramount in a mechanic. THESE GUYS WILL TREAT YOU RIGHT.
At the beginning of the year, my 2000 Honda Civic started to act up. I suspected it was a transmission problem. New to Providence, I found a shop somewhere in the city but was told by a mechanic there that my car was too old to repair. He suggested I just get rid of it or drive it until it falls apart. Since I was not in a position to be left without a reliable vehicle, I decided to get a second opinion. Through a Google search, I found Rob’s Transmission Shop and made an appointment to take my car in.It turned out not to be a problem with the transmission. The actual problem, however, took some time to diagnose and resolve. Rob was extremely patient, professional, and honest. He never tried to get rid of me by telling me my car was too old to fix, nor did he charge me for the extra time he put into the proper diagnosis of the problem. I am very grateful to Rob for his work and service, and as long as I stay in Providence, I cannot imagine getting my car serviced anywhere else. Thank you, Rob!!!
I cant thank Rob enough for fixing my daughters car. He did an excellent job and was fast too. I cant thank you enough for the quick service you gave us. I will definitely be telling everyone about your place of business.
Save yourself time, money and aggravation. Go somewhere else!Response: Rob, when the car was taken back to you once again, I was quoted by your company around $160. To repair your mistake on improper removal of the intermediate shaft damaging the axle seal. I also found the brake line leak was due to the intermediate shaft removal and that seal too was damaged due to improper re-installation. Your business likes to blame it on the cars age when in reality its your workmanship!Advice: Save yourself time money and aggravation go somewhere else!
They do a great job for way less than big name places.
Went to robs transmission to have my car looked at. I was told that they checked my transmission fluid level and it was fine. Not being able to give me answers, I took my car to another transmission shop. He said the fluid was so low it wasnt reading on the stick. He also said robs should have filled it if he did in fact check. They never checked and lied to my face. Super disgusted with this place and really wish I could get my money back bc he barely did anything! Avoid if you can.
Im gonna give a four star only cause ive been there once. But you were honest and answered all my questions. Not to mention you have great reading material.
My name is Matthew Lucchetti, I am the owner of Federal Hill Home Theaters. Our Personable Home Electronics Store is right over in Warwick RI. We highly recommend Robs Transmission! We even get our oil changes, etc done at Robs!
Told me a price a range then at the end billed me the high end plus more. Figures. Does not live up to what they say. Will not honor the extended warranty as said on website because i have a plow truck. Also does NOT beat any price as stated. I had a quote from another place for 1500 Rob, the owner blew me off and billed me 2000 and refused to hear me out on challenging him on the price. I went to them based on their reviews and trusting them. Also did other repairs that i did not even approve of. The repairs came out good just not happy with the fact that they do not stick to their word. When i first went there for a estimate he tells me 1600-2000 the most. Told me i can add an extended warranty at any time for 3 more yrs at $150. Mind you he KNOWS my truck is a plow truck. At the end he refused the extended warranty because its a plow truck. His site is pretty persuasive. It got my attention. (vehicle that was done was a 97 dodge ram 2500 46re) I walked out his shop $2500 less feeling like i got robbed. NOT to mention i took $200 in transmission parts with me to make his job easier. STILL charged me the same thinking i would get a discount FOR bringing these new parts in..Message to ROB: I know eventually you will see this. I gave you a chance to make it right for me as a customer to be satisfied, I messaged you last week regarding how I felt. You have not replied once again blew me off which lead to this review.
I made an appointment online for a noise coming from the rear end/differential and received a phone call asking all the same info that I took the time to enter online. Arrived for my appointment only to be told to make another appointment. Dropped Jeep off for the 2nd appointment at 8am. Didnt hear anything all day and decided to call to learn that they hadnt gotten to it and would the next day. Would have been nice to know seeing I had to arrange a way to get home, but anyway. OK, next day again, no update all day until I call them. They say they THINK the problem is and btw, your bearings are near end of life. So I gave the go ahead for both repairs. I go in to pick up my Jeep at 5pm and the person that checked me in the previous 2 times and had my Jeep for 2 days had NO clue who I was. I pay for the repairs, she tells me that my Jeep was in the back, it was in the front. (Dont do drugs, people) After paying I left the Jeep there while I returned a rental. Come back to get my Jeep and they are closed. Passed 5pm, get in my Jeep and noticed a huge grease spot ground into my brand new floor mat after the stench of grease blasted my nostrils when I opened the door. Being closed I couldnt say anything, get in and notice my wheel lug lock is not where I left it. Ok will call in the morning. Put the Jeep in reverse and drive away. Sounded like I had just gotten married and was dragging empty cans behind the Jeep. Did they even test drive after the repairs? The noise was so loud and no way someone could not have heard it. They were closed, not much I could do right then. Parked the Jeep, was too afraid to drive it, get out and see my wheel lock. Still in the tire. They left it there.
NOT to be trusted. They do good work however timing is horrible. Service is no good and tells you one thing and different the next especially on prices. Bills you for things that does shouldnt be billed for such as diagnosis even when repairing. Diagnosis is always waived when going with repair. Come on guys you are crooks especially Rob with this grin. When i was there i see how they answer their phones with Rob 5 feet from his daughter as his secretary. After she hangs up they are both bad mouthing that particular customer. Witnessed this every time i was there. What do you guys say about me when I call asking on the status on my repair?
Havent been to this shop in a few years as Ive since moved out of the area but years ago when me and my dad used to go there Rob always took care of both of our cars personally, efficiently and for very fair prices
IMPORTANT NOTE: Business has moved to 11 Roseland Ave, Warwick.I had car trouble a couple weeks ago--brakes were grinding really bad. It was an emergency situation for me, and Rob treated it like it was the same emergency for him. This is a rare quality. And it was repeated! The next week, I had another problem with the same car--exhaust/catalytic converter--and Rob took my car in right away. I was the first customer at his new location. These guys are a class act. Ive found my RI mechanic!
Quick knowledgeable friendly and easy to deal with I had a million questions and they gave me the answers I needed and told it to me straight
Saw their ads in the local hot rod type magazines for being good with classic cars and transmissions. Was told my shifting issue was related to a bad tranny so we rebuilt it at the cost of around $2000. Got the car back and it had the same shifting issues as before the rebuild. Ended up tracking the problem down to a bad shifter assy itself. Really wish they noticed it was the shifter prior to the $2000 rebuild would have saved me a lot of coin. Tranny rebuild does appear to be of good quality but I wish the knowledge was there to diagnose a bad shifter before dropping and rebuilding the tranny. I will use them again for rebuilds for trannies but probably not for other classic car repairs. Everyone was very nice and helpful no doubt but I wish the problem was diagnosed before an expensive rebuild was undertaken. I do not think they were trying to scam me at all or anything like that they appear trustworthy.
Great doing business with you, awesome folks that care about quality!
Unprofessional, gave wrong information and way over priced
Dont go there they cant weld. hacks better off having a drunk relative do your work
Rons transmission is a joke.I had a breathalyzer In my car from a DUI.My engine overheated so like an idiot....I had it towed to Rob s for service.I called THREE times to ask if I could come down and blow in the Intoxalock to start the car for them. It took forever to hear back from the rude staff. Finally when I did the Secretarytold me, initially, that they didnt need me to start the car to fix it. WHAT?!Then i called again and she said that I didn t need to go there to start the vehicle because one of the mechanics knew how to start vehicles that had a breathalyzer installed.THEN...I get a call while Im at work from the secretary asking if I could come by to start the car. I called my dad and he went. He got there and it was too late. Robs Auto Transmission had already caused my car to go into a lock out. They towed my car to Sound FX to be recalibrated so the vehicle could run again. We immediately called a different tow and got it taken to a competent garage...that had no problem fixing my truck without me being there. The kicker of this rant???? Rob is trying to charge me for their screw up. He wants me to pay for the tow!Rob even typed up a letter and gave it to me, acknowledging that my truck was in his possession when the lock out occured. We have forwarded Robs letter to my lawyer and if he wants to take me to court for his $75 screw up....Ill be there. That shop is unprofessional, dishonest and rude.
Good people, great work. Reasonable prices!
It is a robbery shop.Last week as a free diagonostic they told me that I might have some wiring problem for my auto transmission which could be fixed on hourly basis. This morning I took my car and the owner just took the car inside and was doing work on other cars and doing the admin job. No checking of my wiring. At one point I asked him whether he is checking my car or not. The reply was he is figuring it out.Later he just took the car for a ride and thats it. He told me that my tcm may be defective and made a bill for two hours. I wonder how he can make me bill for two hours for 10 minutes checking. The reply was he was also researching. I think the definition of research is changed now by working on other car, attaining to other customer and also rooming around his shop.Rob I gave you that $170.00 as a mercy, you dont deserve it.
Wont give you a rough estimate over the phone
Awesome hard workers. I will refer them to all my friends
$3,000 rear differential rebuild, got it back, instantly noticed the grinding from it not being spaced correctly, or re-used parts, or whatever their scam was. Fact is, it wasnt done right so I instantly brought it back, Rob took it for a crunchy test drive, talked to his mechanic, then I was told the gears have to break in! Hahaha BREAK IN! METAL FRIGGIN GEARS HAVE TO BREAK IN!!! OMG I just walked away! So to anybody buying a NEW car or truck anywhere, dont worry, that clunking and grinding noise you and the neighborhood hears, thats just your highly calibrated, finely tuned, $3,000 METAL gears in your differential mashing and grinding together untill all the gear teeth break up enough to semi line up to make it driveable past the warranty stage.P.S. The main job of a differential is to spin the wheels at DIFFERENT ratios(faster or slower) to cover more or less ground depending on which way you turn. Hence the name DIFFERENTIAL!
We were two Canadians who broke down for the third time on our RV trip through US. We were lucky to find Robs who not only fixed our transmission problem with a small part instead of telling us we needed a new transmission even though he knew we were desperate and would have agreed to anything, but he also fixed all the other problems that a mechanic in Pennsylvania screwed up and charged us for parts that were not there. We were very upset about our problems but his friendliness and sense of humor turned our frowns upside down. Not only did he make our old RV safe again but he also gave us an amazingly low price and rushed our job so we could get back on the road and finally get back home to Halifax. Most places would take advantage of our desperate situation but Rob went out of his way to help us and even bought us breakfast!!! His staff Grant and Leo were very professional and nice to us and took extra time checking our RV over, knowing how far we still had to go. I would recommend this place to everyone and wish his garage was in Halifax so we could use them for all our car repair and inspection needs. Our bad situation turned in to a great experience and for such a GREAT LOW PRICE! Thank You!
Fair prices and excellent work!
Very expensive for easy fast repairs. Will take advantage do your home work first if u call him
I took the time to look into multiple shops, in CT and RI for many many months leading up to my decision to go here. I have 21 transmission cooler on my 2005 ford explorer that needed to be replaced. I spent my time and research looking into what part, oem or aftermarket I should get. After consulting with numerous mechanics, transmission shops, and fellow ford explorer owners, I was told to get the OEM replacement part. I even bought the aftermarket one ( which is extremely smaller) and was ready to have it installed by my mechanic and he wouldnt even touch it saying he highlu recommended to have oem replacement as any after market part can cause huge issued. Also due to the fact its smaller then oem and because I have bottom fill transmission, the pressure can cause the small cooler to burst and or the lines to leak. So I canceled that snd waitrd 9 months until I had enough funds to get the oem replacement. I called robs transmission over the weekend and asked for a quote for my oem replacement. I mentioned the big cooler 4 or 5 times, mentioned how I am aware of what needed to be done. Received a quote for 225 and to call back Monday as their vendors were closed. Great. Called monday mentioned the big cooler again aka oem and they suggested a after market one failing to tell me it was the smaller cooler I did not want. Otherwise I would have said no. So we made our appointment for Tuesday and had to move it to today and they were very understanding. My wife drovr 55 mins from Putnam CT 8 months pregnant to your location. When she arrived she mentioned what we wanted done. The big cooler and a oil change. Guy said sure no problem. I wasnt there due to having to work. She was there for about 2 hours. They did the work, took a 4 min test drive, and had the billing lady come out and say it was done. No mechanic came out and explained the work. Didnt show old parts etc like 99 percent of the shops do. I have had work done at numerous shops and never had a shop not say what they did. She just handed her the receipt and warranty and the wife paid and left. I come home and check my truck. I see it still leaking, see lines loosly tucked and hanging about. I call back talk to a mechanic and mention what I saw ask why I have a smaller cooler and lines hanging out and they say they by passed the old cooler and left the old lines. No bueno. I didnt appreciate that. So I called my Uncle who is a master mechanic and asked 4 other mechanics, asked my ford explorer fellow owners, and some other people. They all basically said I cant do heavy hauling, snow plowing, or off roading, which I do all the except plow. Showed pictures of all the work done snd location of the new mounted cooler. Now I am quoting everyone else. Their main response was hack job. I spent $300 on a 24 dollar part that took 10 mins to install and my opinion poorly placed and handled. Including leaving the old lines that were leaking so that I now cant tell if I still have a leak or if its the old cooler. As they mounted the new cooler to the old one. I called back and had a calm 20 min discussion with the owner I would assume, I expresded my concerns, disappointments, and views on the work that was done. He explained what was done that all shops and mechanics are out to trash talk each other. Which I calmed countered stating I trust my master mechanics uncles opinion as he isnt out to trash talk any one. They offered for me drive it back and have the oem cooler installed and only pay the difference of labor between what I paid for the job that was done and the job that would have been done. I thanked him for his time and explaining things out to me and mentioned its just a difference of opinions and hoped I wasnt behing a A-hole for expressing my concerns. After hanging up I brought the truck my local mechanic and he was appauled at the work done and price. And also the zip ties for the cooler was through my compressor which didnt need be done. I mentioned how I told the owner I understand he is a business and what not.
This place will try to screw you over. They charge an arm and a leg for their repairs. They wanted $1,700 just to diagnose a transmission issue I was having which is just an electrical issue, the owner didnt want to really do it because then i wouldnt have a warranty after the repair. This should show you they are only in the business of selling you a new transmission versus repairing your transmission which is ok and only needs a new part. Better be careful and avoid all the positive reviews of this place.if you see all their old reviews they are written by an ananymous source and are all positive with the same spelling and grammar issues. These were all fake reviews written by the company themself and trying to get more business when people search on google for a transmission shop.Stay clear of this place, you were warned...
