I signed a contract for 2 years May 2018, and declined the auto renewal. I wanted to make sure they had that right so I called in April 2020, but no answer due to the pandemic. I left a couple of messages. Now they actually think theyre going to collect payment for another 2 years. They sent it to some collector named Kingston Credit. I have my contract, and I have the ABC financial documentation stating to not auto renew. Ill report this to the BBB, or have my lawyer handle this if anything mysteriously shows up on my credit report because I never gave a ssn. Theyre basically trying to take advantage during a pandemic. Sad because Ive always spoken so highly of this location, and Ive had others join from my recommendation. 😑

Just canceled a membership that Ive had since 2016 because the owner Jeff decides he was going to change the contract Ive had at that location without either notifying me or getting my consent/signature on a new contract. Thats some shady business practices.I do not recommend this location to anyone.

Absolutely horrible place! My contract was up in March and my husband sent them an email to cancel our membership along with our military orders that we are moving out of state. The man he emailed that told him to do that must have stopped working there because they change workers so much so our membership was never canceled. They proceeded to charge us every month and 2 months later we get a call from collections saying we owe them money. They never called us about nonpayment or sent us a letter in the mail. The worst part is in November/December I went there to get a copy of our contract because we told them we wanted to cancel our membership. They only gave me a copy of the front page. Money hungry place! Do not get a membership here.

Nice and clean gym,and friendly staff. Paul was really nice, and he took his time explaining all the gym equipment to me, I haven’t worked out in over 5 yrs. It’s small but they have lots of gym equipment. Overall, Great place to get ur workout on!!

Shiesty sheisty business. I called to get information about a membership for myself and my son and I was quoted almost $150 down payment and $60 a month. the funny thing is I called several other locations around metro Detroit and no one seemed to have that high of a down payment for a contract plan. So I called the gentleman back to let him know that and he said that they go by thecorporation price! So I just wanted to inform the public beware and do your homework before your ripped off!

RUN AWAY! DO NOT SIGN UP!They lie to you and say its not a contract but in reality, youre signing away 2 years. However, I do take the responsibility of not reading what I signed but I was trusting the trainer there. I feel like Im being punished for trusting the gym franchise.The gym is not clean and the bathroom/water fountain stays broken. I had to use the women restroom a few times because the mens was broken. Not a gym I want to be part of and nor should you.

One bathroom/shower room. Pretty cramped. Equipment is starting to show its age. Eg.. The foam on the pull down bar is pretty bad. No tree for cable stuff. All that said, they have a good selection and is adequate for a good workout.

Competitively priced. Great equipment. Helpful staff.

Very poor with customer service husband has tried to cancel since he is not in a contract anymore, However he was told no that they cannot cancel because it costs the owner to much to run each month and they are barely making the monthly bills they could put his account on hold but the owner will not let them cancel anyone. This does not make any sense to me he should have a right to cancel especially if not in a contract.

UPDATE: Manager called after bad review and fixed my main complaint and is working on the rest. Gym is under new management. I signed up for a fitness trainer that I feel is dedicated and will push me towards my goal. Im satisfied and think that the new manager actually cares about the members.

Great the manager was very nice,respectful, and great at getting me started and showing me my options for paying methods and the trainers are really dedicated to help other people needs even if they are or arent training them. Facility great I would recommend this gym to all my friends Im trying to get some friends now

They are sharks. Signed up but I had moved a few months later. The person who signed us up didnt mention that the cancellation price was $1800. And no I didnt put an extra zero on the end. Save yourself. I have to pay 35$ for 3 years as that is still cheaper then the cancellation fee.

I love it here the ppl are so nice and they keep you motivated I try and go 3 times a week

The staff is friendly. The trainers are a big help. Erika was my trainer and she is a great trainer.

DO NOT JOIN THIS ANYTIME FITNESS!!!!Tried to cancel after my second meeting where I was told I neededto have a personal trainer,no one returned my calls.I was told that they would get a number for me to call and talk to someone other than the Chad, no number yet.I was quoted on price charged another.So sense I am paying, I have requested keys, no key yet (joined in January).I called and left messages repeatedly, no return call yet.I have even talked to a few other Anytime Fitness facilities, and they do not charge this $50.00 dollar cleaning fee theirs are $20.00, so yes I think it is safe to say this place is not an establishment that I would even recommend to my worst enemy.Now if anyone that works there can read this, my daughter and I would like our key so we can go work out.NO RATE DESERVED!!!!!Update to review: NO KEYS YET/NO RESPONSE TO CALL/STILL TAKING MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT!!! 03/03/2015Update to review: After two years of paying this fraudulent establishment, I cancelled my membership only to learn that they are still taking money out of my account, talked to ABC financial today, NO ONE EVER CANCELED MY ACCOUNT!!!! Since new management has taken over and turned things around, I am very pleased with this gym. It was the complete opposite before this though. Hopefully This gym can keep the current management and staff and continue to take care of their clients.

Let me tell you about these MF, they lie to you and dont tell you, your signing up for an 2 year contract. they never return phone calls, I asked SHANE the supervior to see the contract where I signed up for an 2 year contract, he told me it will take 48hr for him to get the papers. so at this point in life I know they on some B.S. So I never got the call for the paper work in its months later. They change superviors like I change underwear, long story short dont sign up here they are F*** ups. and will F*** up your life.

Great gym. Small.. But just enough equipment. And due to the cost not as busy.

They tells you one price and with-drawn more then they should from your account. I advise that no one chooses this why gym on 9 & Vandkye as a gym to go to.

Dumbbells go up to 125#s. Thats rare for an Anytime Fitness. LifeFitness machines arent the greatest but they make up for it on the free weight side of the gym with 2 power racks, a smith and 45 degree leg press

Very dishonest sales staff, will quote you one price on the phone with no contact then hit you with another price and 2 year contract when you talk to them at the gym. Complete waste of time, not worth even considering.

Great place to workout at and enjoy yourself

Ive been to several gyms and this one by far is the worst one. This location in particular. Ive been with AF for about six months now. Ive worked out in some dirty, stinky Jui-Jitsu gyms. Ive been to several AF gyms in the Detroit area. Anytime Fitness gyms are not supposed to be dirty. They typically have great customer service. Ive been to this location a couple of times because its convenient to where I work. But its terrible. You say theres new mgmt? Couldnt tell. No one has ever greeted me. The machines are filthy and sticky. They dont work properly. The bathroom is nasty. The music sucks. There are no towels. I guess Im spoiled because of my home location. Completely opposite. The locations in Berkeley and Madison Heights are phenomenal. New mgnt in Warren should visit those locations and take a lesson in how to run a successful, clean, respectable, proper franchise.

The facility itself wasnt terrible, and I worked out a lot there. I knew I was getting into a contract when I signed, but like all contracts, it was near impossible to get out of it. I did everything to cancel by the books, and they still got it wrong and I kept getting charged. Corporate is terrible to work with, and I could never get calls back from the manager at the facility.

Small gym with nice staff. Corporate decisions for management are an absolute joke, however.

1.) THE SQUAT RACK: The squat rack in the back next to the ladder to the rooftop is WAY too close to the wall. Every single time I get into squatting position, I’m wrestling with trying to get the bar off the safety bars without bumping into the wall. EVERY time. And it’s almost impossible to comfortably add and remove weight plates on that side. You’re likely going to get hurt or pull something. Why not pull the rack a little close to the dumbbell racks? I’m aware of the small space there is in this location but there’s about 2 feet of extra space that people only use there to either flex or put their phone on the ground there to charge through the outlet behind the dumbbell rack. That would also leave room for other people to get the barbells out of the corner too.2.) WIPE-DOWN SPRAY BOTTLES: There needs to be more. There’s only like what…3 of them in the facility. Half the time I’m looking to wipe something down, I have to hunt one down. There’s more effort there in finding one than there needs to be. Touching the rags themselves is quite questionable in itself as the ones I’ve always been using never seem to be clean at all. Sometimes I feel I’m making the equipment dirtier than cleaner.3.) RE-RACKING WEIGHTS: This is clearly the biggest issue at this location and a HUGE pet peeve to me and others alike. I was warned once by one of the employees there to consider the working space of some of the members there because I grabbed one of their pairs are dumbells that they clearly walked away from with no intention of using them again (they walked away on their phone and after that started talking with their other buddies on the treadmill for an extensive amount of time). I just brushed off the accusation that I did something wrong because I felt that I didn’t do anything wrong at the time. (I still feel that way as a matter of fact) And when members take more than they can chew from the dumbbell racks (and I mean this in which they take multiple sets to lay around next to them so if they feel like using those weights, they don’t need to get back up and take them off and walk back to their spot) I see the warnings on the papers on the mirrors about the reracking issue, but the employee here need to take advantage of their security cameras and SERIOUSLY START CHARGING PEOPLE who just leave weights around and leave the building. Who cares if they get upset at the charge and want to leave the gym? Safety first, always. Someone could get hurt tripping over them and it’s just straight up uncool. There’s no courtesy in it. What’s the point in putting those paper signs on the mirrors if you aren’t going to do jack squat about it?5.) Lastly, the cleanness of the gym: It’s pretty bad at times. I have a hard time lifting weights around the free weights area when that entire spot smells like weed or cigarettes. I’m used to 2nd hand smoking because of the surroundings I’m in at my workplace but here it often smells like someone just blew smoke into your face. No one wants to smell this stuff while trying to gasp for air after lifting weights. There’s water bottles lying around (sometimes in the same spot for days/weeks) that can clearly be thrown out. A pair of black socks was found on the dumbbell rack and later seen in the same place 3 days later. The mens bathroom is no joke: at one point during one of my visits I was pretty sure I was walking around in piss. The odor was so foul in there that it was evident no one really took the time to get rid of the smell or at least wipe the floor down.I’m losing a lot of faith in this gym location. It’s got a lot of work to do. This isn’t to bash on the location or the employees, this is what I’m experiencing and from what I’ve read and have heard, many others can probably agree with what I’ve written.

This has been a seriously horrible experience.At first I enjoyed the small size of the gym, but when more than 5 people are in there, you feel like you are cramped and on top of each other.Things just got worse from there. There is no locker room, just a mens and womens bathroom with showers in them. So if you are planning on showering after your work, think again. You will either have to wait for someone to finish, or you will be taking over the only bathroom for that gender while you are showering. Also the shower is pretty gross and doesnt look like it is cleaned often or at all.Speaking of cleanliness, there are only 4 spray bottles and rags for the entire facility, and no one cleans after themselves. I got incredibly sick with norovirus after my last visit to this facility. It was the only place a went to that wasnt home or work that week, and I am 99.9% I picked it up there. Probably because no one cleans up after themselves.The staff are obviously not cleaning as I used attempted to use the same treadmill several times over a couple weeks and found the same water bottle cap and gum wrapper in the cup holder.The staff doesnt really do much of anything. I have had to wait 15 mins to use a machine because one of the members was sitting on it while having a phone conversation and the staff says nothing. Also, people bring their children in and allow them to run around and the staff does nothing.The personal trainers are incredibly aggressive and will call you constantly to attempt to make appointments and remind you if you havent been in in a while. I explained to every single one of them that I was not interested. Also, having listened in on some of their training sessions, it doesnt seem like they have had any formal training. I heard one woman tell someone to do an exercise that goes past any normal persons range of motion. Its just a lawsuit waiting to happen.The gym says you have 24 hr access with a keycard, but the door is broken quiet often. For three weeks it had a sign up that read it would be fixed 2maro which just looked incredibly unprofessional as well as not truthful. If the door is broken, it is almost impossible to get inside unless someone already in the gym helps push the door open. On more than one occasion, I showed up to work out and the door was broken and I had couldnt get in and had to turn around and go home.Also, beware that you will be signing up for a 2 year contract that you can not cancel, even if you are willing to pay a cancellation fee. The only way you can cancel is to death, doctors note, or to move more than 15 miles from a facility. So I am still stuck with this horrible gym for another couple months. SERIOUSLY AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!Lastly, the review from Erica seems like a conflict of interest since she is a personal trainer there.

Horrible, they charge you a additional fee 15 days after you sign, also if you decide you dont want to be with the gym they will refuse you to cancel, i had to actually block them from my Bank, and having my lawyer look into why they refuse to let my membership go, FITNESS USA IS BETTER do not go to anytime fitness...i wish i could rate this place 0...

Worst anytime fitness Ive been to. Dirty, lots of broken machines, the classes are basically just booty dancing classes, the staff is creepy, and the music is terrible and really loud.

New Management! Phil and the gang have made immediate improvements. Noticeable difference.

You’re not allowed to bring a guest. The management failed to tell me this when I signed up for the membership. If broken you will be fined $250. The new manager seems to be cleaning up the old managers mess.
