Been going to this salon with Hotep for years, every single time its a fire fade or mohawk. I would, and do travel states to have my hair cut at this barbershop. He also complimented the dye in my hair with some hair coloring pencils and its just 👌🏾👌🏾🙌🏾

10/10. Would definitely recommend this to people in the Virginia Beach area. The person who cut my hair was Jay and he was very professional. Being that my old barber moved I was a little skeptical at first because I had been with another barber for like 5 years and they were good with my hair but once my haircut was finished I was in disbelief because I never knew hair could be cut that good. Thank you Essel salon and spa. I will definitely be returning.

The owner Hotep was awesome. He trimmed and shaped my hair. He also did my eyebrows. The atmosphere is welcoming and everyone is friendly. I especially enjoyed the hot towel treatment and head massage. This was pampering at its best. I also bought some essential oils created by Hotep and his wife. I will be back.

Took my daughter here after a horrific incident with another salon and I was more than pleased with their work!

Prices not posted (I would have expected a shampoo included for how much I paid).Bait and switch with credit/debit cards acceptance: Signage on door indicates they do, but when you pay you are directed to a high fee ATM.Wear a hat for two weeks haircut.Otherwise the shop was clean and tidy.I guess they got the ultimate hat trick on me.

Essel Salon is very inviting and definitely a family /village atmosphere.

Worked from 4am to 4pm, picked up my children and took them home, called Essel to see what time they closed, and then proceeded to drive an hour to their shop. I waited right up front in the lobby area by the door from 6:50pm until 8:15pm for the heads that were seated to be finished. No other customers were waiting in the shop. I I drove an hour both ways and waited a hour only to be told that the entire time not one of the three barbers saw me, and they were not cutting anymore heads. They then told me it was my fault for not telling them that I was sitting I waiting for a haircut. Why the hell else would I be sitting there?I also watch as another customer sat in the chair for 30 mins waiting for a simple edge up while his barber unknowingly step out to go sit down and eat....Im a 40 years old man who lived up and down the east coast. Ive been to several dozens of barbershops in my lifetime. I can honestly say, not out of anger, that theirs is the second worst customer Ive ever experienced.

This is a great shop with very great customer service, professionalism and friendly environment. The owners and the people who work here are very courteous and polite.
