I absolutely love living here. Ive been here for 3 years, and I have never had a complaint about anything. Really! When I need anything done at all, it is always addressed quickly, and well. The office staff have always been great, the maintainance staff have always been wonderful. They respond quickly, and just have always addressed any of my concerns. The location is PERFECT. I would absolutely recommend living here to absolutely anyone.

Been here 4 years. Staff is very friendly. Location close to restaurants, grocery, and the beach is ideal, apartments themselves are very nice with wood burning fireplaces. However. Maintenance requests, and general grounds keeping seems to be very slow, there is only one compactor and one dumpster for the entirety of the complex, which is often dirty and seems to be poorly monitored/maintained, and there have been several vehicles within the last months that have been broken into. Seems to have gone downhill in the last 2 years. They also seem to have poor resident screening. One of my neighbors almost burned our building down, and has had several physical altercations and her roommate died on the pool deck!

Won’t be moving in for a few weeks. However, I’ve talked to just about everyone in the office at one point or another. Everyone is super helpful and pleasant to chat with. They’ve answered all of my questions and are quick to respond to emails/calls. I toured the apartment a few weeks back. The updates looked pretty good and the location seems to be great. Restaurants, grocery store, and the beach are all within walking distance. Bike lanes and trails are nearby too. I talked to a few residents as I was walking around and everyone seemed pleased with their apartments and the staff. I toured a few other places during my visit and it was a no brainer Marina Shores offered the best bang for your buck.

The maintenance staff at Marina Shores are absolutely amazing! Shawn and KB found out that I accidentally threw out a wedding gift and saw I was panicking and they went searching for it in the dumpster. They were able to locate it and I was very relieved. These two staff members go above and beyond and I greatly appreciate them.

I was dreading moving into an apartment and leaving my house and neighborhood but we are becoming empty-nesters and it was about time to downsize. Here you are so close to everything. I love my apartment especially my little balcony which has been turned into a calming peaceful Oasis!!! I have never had any issues really here. I turn in my lease renewal today!!!

I don’t live there yet but I’m excited to move in. Anyone who has ever been a renter knows one thing for sure, property managers are a NIGHTMARE to work with. This is NOT the case at Marina Shores. Beth in the management office has been responsive and helpful every step of the way. Anyone applying is in good hands with Beth.

Don’t live here. This used to be a nice place to live but the buildings are aging and there is not enough maintenance staff (including all the sub-contractors) to keep up. It looks like the flooring is always replaced when tenants move out which is great until you realize that no matter how nice you keep your floors, you’re probably going to pay for them at move out anyway. Everything pretty at ground level seems to be priority over stuff that actually matters after you’ve moved in.Our heat pump was broken for six weeks (despite almost weekly calls or emails to property managers the entire time), which resulted in a $890 power bill in two months. (I’ve since discovered that my washing machine is only plumbed with hot water and my daughters bedroom is basically open to the underside of the building except for the carpet in her bedroom and subfloor for about 20’x3’. Now I understand why her bedroom is so much cooler than the hallway!! We requested those repairs 7/5/18 and are still waiting as if 7/30/18). After talking with Marina Shores staff and Dominion Energy for over an hour this afternoon, I’ve just realized that I will be dealing with this high power bill issue in some way until September most likely. We were comped for half our utility bill this afternoon despite documents showing our efforts to have the broken heat pump and washer fixed as soon as we discovered a problem (May 24 for the heat pump and July 5 for the washer). Thankfully, Dominion Energy is sending out a letter on my behalf to document with Marina Shores that I called DE to document when we discovered the high bill, efforts to find the source of the bill, extra meter readings at my request, etc. Based on my conversations this afternoon I can only hope that it will help. The bugs here are in a league of their own. The dumpsters (technically two dumpsters) here are only emptied once a week. Every Monday morning, maintenance’s first task is to clean up the trash mountain that has piled up around the dumpster. While our air was completely out July 4-10, every hot humid breeze brought a whiff of dumpster into my kitchen. Property managers have assured me there is no relationship between the trash and the bugs and would I like another visit from Orkin? (No thank you, since Orkin has already assured me they are doing everything they can.)I requested that the gutters be cleaned outside our apartment shortly after we moved in because I got so many mosquito bites in a 30-minute period that I had to go to urgent care for a steroid shot. (I am allergic to mosquitos.) It’s pretty clear that Marina Shores is not going to do that. My husband offered to do it himself in May but was told not to. The dog parks are even worse. The one closest to Lynnhaven Dr isn’t so bad as long as you stay near the top of the hill. This afternoon a property manager assured me that the bugs here are just as bad in the rest of the neighborhood. There is standing water everywhere in this complex. Around every building (top to bottom), the muddy end of the “pond”, under buildings, at the bottom of flower planters.None of these issues should be problems at all. The thing that really gets me is that if we owned this apartment, my husband and I literally would have fixed all of it within the first 30 days of moving in. We are not apartment people and that absolutely is part of why we can barely tolerate living here but the poor management/maintenance is just ridiculous. Office staff seems grateful to not live here. The maintenance manager who lives here told my husband, face-to-face, on July 6 that he was sorry about our washer and the insulation and our air being out and that he would fix the air himself that day and contractors would fix the rest within a week. None of those things happened.I have been hoping to work all this out with management because I genuinely don’t want to move again. We moved in a hurry and didn’t have much time to find a place to live so we gambled on a complex that was nice when I lived in this neighborhood 15 years ago.

Ive lived here since January 2017 (8 months). I dont know what some of these other reviews are complaining about but Ill talk about my experience.Someone mentioned bugs. We pay for pest control and it works. Since January, Ive seen two dead bugs. They were both dead. Its an apartment complex. Some people arent as clean as others and attract bugs. That comes with living in an apartment. But the pest control seems to be working. At least it is in my apartment and around my building.I cant discuss maintenance because I havent had any maintenance issues. They do always seem to be busy working.Someone complained that the grounds have litter and no one cleans it up. First off, the grounds are clean and well-kept and Ive seen maintenance out frequently walking the property picking up litter. The only trash problem Im aware of are lazy neighbors who for some inexplicable reason, walk their trash to the compactor but then leave it on the ground out front. Others, seeing the trash bags on the ground, apparently assume the compactor isnt working and, without checking, put theirs on the ground too. I have personally only seen it once myself but I understand it happens from time to time on weekends. Monday morning, maintenance comes out and does what the tenants should have done in the first place. Its a shame they have to do it. But they do it quickly as soon as its discovered. Not a big deal. The recently had a contractor out to replace the stairs to the first floor of my building. I didnt notice there was anything wrong with the old ones so apparently they were on top of whatever the problem was.I cant comment on the experiences of those who had negative things to say but their experiences were nothing like mine. Im very happy here.If I have any maintenance problems, and if Im not satisfied with how they address them, Ill update this review. But my apartment has been in good shape so far.

I actually enjoy living in the area but the apartment complex can use improvement. Nobody picks up after their dogs which makes it a nightmare to walk around especially when its dark. The office doesnt want to take any responsibility for tenants packages. Ive had several taken from my front door now and when I called the office to see if theres is somewhere I can have them sent to avoid neighbors stealing them I was told if we did it for you we would have to do it for everyone. Clearly they are not putting the people that rent from them first.

Pros:- Location is amazing if you like the beach/bar Shore Drive scene- Parking is rarely hard to find if you don’t have a garage pass- Vey quiet community- Friendly front desk stuff- I liked the in-apartment appliances (despite no microwave)Cons:- It is infested with “water bugs”. BIG and small ones that will most certainly greet you at the door in the warm months and creep inside your apartment in the warm and cold ones.- There are constant car break-ins that management will try to sweep under the rug, but if you see a police officer around...just ask him/her why they’re there 😉.

I think the only people who work hard/are concerned about the residents here are the maintenance staff. They’ve been the only help we can get. Do not move in here. My husband’s second vehicle (not currently working, he’s in the process of fixing it up) was towed after us informing them of this. Honestly no customer service and no concern for the well being of their residents. Where do i start. My roommate and I lived there for a year in an “unrenovated” apartment (they are currently redoing them). For the location, the price is decent, but the apartments are not in good condition. They are old and drafty, bathrooms lack ventilation which causes mold build up, but worst of all, if you’re living on the 3rd floor, you’ll have the pleasure of having a few extra roommates...squirrels. We put a complaint in (you can hear them running around inside the roof constantly) but it was never remedied. In fact, we looked up there and there was rodent feces everywhere. In addition, we had a couple living below us who’s apartment constantly reeked of weed and they would fight so badly the cops came several times. The front desk girl, who always was spilling the dirt on this place, told me a convicted felon had been living there (even though they are supposed to do background checks), and they eventually evicted them. Both being military, we were gone a lot, so we didn’t push the issues too much, but the real kicker came at move out when they tried to charge us for new carpets. They took some sketchy photos that showed nothing and with no indication it was when our apartment, so, luckily corporate reversed the charges. My best advice if you live here would be to take photos of everything at move out and have them do a walk through. The front desk girl who I talked to frequently advised me we wouldn’t need one and not to worry, and then we got hit with a $900 bill. This place has been through multiple owners over the years and my guess is that it’s a money pit for them and they try to get you where they can. They have multiple hits on BBB for sketchy behavior too (it’s a huge property management company). Oh, you also have to walk half a mile to take your trash out. If it weren’t for the dishonesty and frankly sketchy behavior at move out, I may have given a whole 2 stars.

From moving in and having broken windows that took months to replace, to temps getting into the 80s with AC on and being told it would be fixed but weeks later still not, to filthy surroundings including dog poop everywhere, garbage always in front of dumpster, never in 6 months have the entry way been clean, elevator is always dirty and ceiling is broken in it, pool not opening as scheduled, cheap materials used in entire apartment....When I call, email or text it takes forever to get a response and even then management does not want to talk and help issue. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS COMPLEX! The online photos are great, but the apartments are not as well kept as they make it seem. The parking is very limited, and there are a TON of hidden fees . The good reviews on here were ASKED to be put there and a lot of the staff post good reviews pretending to be residents (I know because I’m close with one of the staff members) . This place draws you in then take complete advantage of you . Great location but the team of people are what ruin in . They are truly heartless & they DO NOT have your best interest in mind . I strongly advise you find a complex worth the money this apartment complex will surely rob you for . It was in NO WAY worth it . One of the biggest regrets of my life . These people are cruel, and to be so cruel - they should most certainly offer a better product.

The only good thing about these apartments is the area. Close to the beach, and local favorite type restaurants; also zoned to very nice schools. Aside from that, I sincerely wish I would have never set foot here. The rent is overpriced for what you get. I did realize that moving in, but I wanted my children to attend certain schools and I knew Id only live there 2 years max. Lets just say that I pay less for a 4 bedroom spacious home in Courthouse Estates now. The renovated apartments are a joke. The appliances are less than mediocre at best. The grounds are not kept. You will pay a monthly pest fee but still walk by dozens of roaches late at night. You will pay a pest fee and still battle through spider webs and spiders all year long, esp under the covered parking. You will pay monthly pest fees and see rats scurrying near the dumpster and grounds. Want to park under the building? Pay an additional $25/month. Want a pet? Pay the deposit and monthly pet fee. On a warm summer night you can smell the pet feces steaming from the grounds. Residents tend to pick up after their pet whenever the spirit moves them to. There were so many times the elevator in my building would have uirne (human or pet), feces (anyones guess?), and even vomit. There is only one dumpster and it overflows with garbage WEEKLY!!Whilst all my maintenance were responded to in a timely manner, judging from other reviews, I cant say thats the case 100% of the time. Our last and biggest issue was with moving out. Inspectors came to my apartment to discuss the new renovations including installing a new carpet. The day of our final inspections, one of the maintenance men told my husband we were good to go and my husband turned the keys over to him. At no point did anyone contact us about the move out or final inspections. As a matter of fact, when my husband asked for a copy of the final inspection, he was told they dont do that. Lucky for us, I have tons of pictures from the past two years of how disgusting this place is. I also have pictures of the carpet when we moved. Two weeks after move out, we received a bill for $1200 in damages to the carpet. My husband tried contacting them five times and nobody would call us back. It wasnt until someone answered on a whim that we were finally able to address the carpet issue. Not only was that person, rude, but also not helpful. Once again, I am glad, I record everything. Marina Shores is predatory and renter beware! We are mostly likely headed to court and I am 100% fine with that because I have kept excellent records to prove how incompetent, deceitful and predatory they are. Do yourself a favor, and find yourself a better place to live.

This place is AWFUL. The most annoying part to date is being dodged in person and on the phone by the property management staff. They promise to call you and NEVER do. My apartment was complete crap the day we moved in and it took them FOREVER to come fix everything. No one at the front desk has ANY IDEA of whats going on, they make nothing but broken promises. Theyre not all in sync, not even close and theres a new girl there every week. Maintenance takes forever to come fix anything. One guy came to look at my heat and put his hand underneath the vents and said it works, its just cold outside. HA meanwhile we have our heat set to 78 degrees with 2 space heaters for it to be livable. Mind you this a small 2 bedroom apartment. We then had emergency maintenance come out and look at it a few weeks later and what do you know SOMETHING WAS BROKEN and as far as Im concerned it needs to be replaced all together- our dominion power bill was $500 for one full month. Our bill for the first 10 days was $142. Theres an extremely noisy spot on the floor right outside of my bedroom, I feel bad for the people below us. It actually dips down- the floor is legit working its way to falling through. Not to mention you can even hear the loud creaking noises when the dogs step on it. We pay $10 a month for trash which means you have to walk your trash half way across the complex (in our location) and throw it in the compacter and compact it yourself. We were told we have to pay a utility fee for the first month only, but no thats every month according to our bills. We were told when we were signing our lease that we would receive all new appliances for free, we go back a week later and were told this same thing. The next day we went to confirm a different matter and the lady told us we had to pay for the appliances and YELLED at my roommate. So we had to argue with the property manager about getting our appliances that we were promised when we signed our lease. Did we ask for new appliances? NO we were told that. LUCKILY the sticky note the girl wrote that on was on our lease and we had the manager put it in writing that wed get the appliances. She claimed itd be a month or 2...nowhere near 6 months. She wouldnt put a time frame on the letter she signed of course and its been 2 months so far. I dont even have enough time to write everything. DONT MOVE HERE!

The lady above my apartment moved out without notifying the front office, stole the washer from the third floor of her town home and didn’t turn off the water flooding my first floor apartment. Megan, the apartment manager said that they were not liable for the damage because I didn’t tell them I was going on a work trip. She had no response when I asked if it was common sense that if a two-story town home flooded, wouldn’t they check the first floor apartment? The apartment manager didn’t even step foot inside the apartment to see the damage and instead watched a video from her office. The mold was so strong it burned your eyes and nose. I paid rent for two months and barely stayed in my apartment because of its condition and as they were repairing it. My renters insurance didn’t cover the costs to replace my sofa; TV, TV stand and side tables or the $150 utility bill where they turned the heat up to 100 degrees to they could dry out the apartment. They wanted to see if they could shampoo the carpet, instead of replacing it. Instead of replacing the wavy and buckled laminate countertops they came in and sprayed on a new finish. There were two other instances where the tenant above me overflowed the tub and didn’t tell maintenance, leaking onto my office desk, computer and printer. Lastly, the walls are very thin and it was horrible living below a single mom with five kids running above my apartment. Great location and affordable price, but these are the people you’re living with.

Maintenance will never get stuff done on your place, no matter how many times you call or go in to talk to them. Maurice was the only one in there at the time on a Saturday which should have been a hint that they are under staff. He was great through the paperwork and explaining the steps we would take. Paid 150 dollars for the application fee and to hold the apartment while the background was going through. I have almost an 800 credit score, a steady job Ive been at for 8 years, and nothing on my background so i should have been good to go. Here we are almost two weeks after the application has been sent in and nothing from them. Ive called probably about 20 times and Ive only got ahold of someone 3 times. I also asked for a manager to call me and no call. For a company that is going to look at my credit and make a ding on it and take my money, this is unacceptable! Although I submitted my intent to vacate form due to military orders well in advance, when I went to the office on move out day, they tried to get more money from me. When I asked why, they produced an altered copy of my intent to vacate form. They had actually falsified an official document in an effort to steal money from me! I still had my original document, so the manager acted embarrassed and told me I was good to go. A month later, I received a letter from some attorneys stating that the amount had been turned over to collections, plus several huge fees. Now they want twice as much as they were originally trying to fraud me out of! The Shore Drive area is great and I highly recommend it, but look long and hard to find anywhere else other than this place. I promise it will be worth the effort.

Marina Shores is old and poorly maintained. The elevators are badly in need of replacement. I was trapped in the elevator for 20 minutes and several other residents had similar experiences. Little effort is made at picking up trash and maintaining the property. It is difficult to contact the office for maintenance. They have a very frustrating voice mail system. If a resident complains too much their lease will not be renewed.Update: I moved out of state & my wife & I divorced. A complicated situation. BUT Marina Shores REALLY screwed us over on the cleaning fess etc. They billed us for several thousand dollars above our damage deposit. They claimed they replaced the carpet and the vinyl in the kitchen, which I doubt. But it was not practical for us to fight these charges in court as we both now live thousands of miles from Virginia Beach. Marina Shores is a horrible place to live, for many reasons.Update(2): I just looked through some of the reviews on here. I cant prove it definitively, but I would bet that the positive reviews are all done by staff, or family of staff that work for Marina Shores. Ya, the location is OK, a little close to the beach, but that is the ONLY positive thing about this place. They nickle & dime the residents every way they can and, well... Its bad.Update (3?) MarinaShores responded to my review & gave an email address & asked me to contact them. I did as they requested & contacted them but they never bothered to reply back to me. THATS how they operate.

I am extremely disappointed with Marina Shores. My air conditioning unit broke within the first few weeks of moving in, in the middle of the summer, and it wasnt fixed until almost a month later. There is also paid parking underneath the apartment buildings but management has failed time and time again to enforce assigned spots. I routinely come home and find someone else in my spot. I have told management but they have not returned any of my emails.Overall, it seems that the complex is too big and there are too many people for you to be taken care of. If you are looking for a stress-free rental, I recommend going somewhere else.

If you are thinking about moving to Marina Shores, I would definitely reconsider. I have lived here for a few months and have been truly disappointed. The front office staff offers zero help to any concerns you bring to them. The grounds are kept poorly, the shrubs are overgrown and there is trash and cigarette butts all over the place, EXCEPT the front office area, of course. When the ONE trash compactor for the entire complex was not working, we had our very own landfill to look at and smell for at least one week. There are roaches and ants inside the apartments. If the grounds were kept CLEANER, Im sure this would be less of an issue. Because the front office does not enforce the rules they set for people cleaning up after their dog, the front of my building now stinks like dog poop. The private parking areas that you pay EXTRA for are not monitored and my space had been blocked several times. Yes, the location is nice, but for the amount of money they charge for rent each month I expect a lot more. Spend your money elsewhere!

We spent one year here and would not recomend this property to anyone. Moved here from out of state and our apartment was rented to someone else between the time our moving truck left home and arrived here. Small outdated apartments that are overpriced, even for the area. Garbage disposal is constantly broken and our electrical outlets sparked from interior water damage, a serious safety issue. No gun policy or restriction led to multiple police incidents at the complex. The management group is difficult to work with and is willing to lie/deceive to get extra money from residents. Please look else where for an enjoyable experience, especially for the price.

I moved in April of this year and my A/C has been broken since May. We have sent in multiple tickets and have been met with, there is nothing we can do. When my apartment is reaching around 85 degrees everyday and night the staff says it is normal for that to happen. As someone who has worked in HVAC the maintenance people have no idea how HVAC systems work. On top of that they ignore my calls and tickets when I place them. They just mark them as complete without even looking at the problem. I am very disapointed in my decision to move here. This is the worst renting experience of my life and I still have 9 months to go.

I love our team - I think since Drucker and Falk Management company has taken over things have been changing drastically & its been for the better. Were a tight knit community - we try to stay very involved. We have great Wine Down Wednesdays with free wine and a nice complementary snack spread. As well as gift card winners for contests on social media. Not only have I, Myself seen the dramatic changes - but I have plenty of Residents since the Take over in August come up to me and express their gratitude for this new management and how well they have been handling everything. And if the Residents are happy then Im happy! Hope to show anyone in the past that may have had a not so pleasant experience here and I legitimately apologize from the bottom of my heart. We are doing the best we can and the tools this Management company has brought with them when they took over has made drastic changes but like I said - FOR THE BEST!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I lived here 8 months ago and broke my lease after A MONTH. Paid some ridiculous fee to move out when it wasnt even my fault. Lived in a two bedroom apartment. Maintenance stole from my 2 bedroom apartment constantly. It always happened the day after They came I realized things were missing. Close to 2k worth of things- including the ring I was going to propose with. There are also a lot of restricted breeds walking around the complex but I had to give mine to an out of state friend before I moved here because my dog was not allowed. They truly play the favoritism card. The more money you spend here- the better maintenance treats you, you can have whatever dog you want, and the office staff is prompt to give you what you want. The trash is ALWAYS full, and it smells terrible if you live on that side of the complex. Yet if you live in the back part there is a giant sink hole forming between the buildings that no one has fixed. Oh and dont even get me started on the smoking problem. I am DEATHLY allergic to cigarette smoke. My neighbors above me would smoke on their porch which in the lease is not allowed. When I called the office they said they would take care of it. No one ever did. They smoked every single night. In the month waiting to move out I slept at a friends because I felt my throat closing from the smell of the smoke. Dont try to contact the corporate office- they do nothing to help you even when I told them the value of things stolen. I told them I wanted to be compensated for the amount stolen( mainly the cost of the ring). All they continued to say was I call the office with too many complaints and I am requires to pay the fee and there is no proof anything was stolen by their staff. DO NOT MOVE HERE. It has ruined my marriage plans- and I have to buy a new ring...which I dont have the money for since I gave Marina shores my money.

This place is a joke, place is cheaply made, had a newly renovated apartment and it was half assed, cabinets not screwed in all the way, half of the outlets worked, and the new kitchen tile had huge defects. The management is ridiculous and rude. A co worker had black mold in the vent so they moved them to a new place, they did t bill him for two months and when they asked about it management said its fine. Next month comes they went to collection asking for 2 months rent. Had an emotional support animal they brought it up tried to tell them and told it was to late to sign a paper so they tried making me get rid of my dog. The dont enforce the breed rule. A/C goes out every 4 months. Trash compactor is always full and stinks. Had stuff stolen out of my truck.

0 stars would be more accurate. Get ready for a long, but worth a read review. I started out loving this place...I was initially willing to overlook the aged appliances and materials because the location is so great. It all started going down hill when I was attacked by a homeless man in the fitness center and NOTHING was ever done about it. The code on the door is still the same, the video cameras were never checked, no one ever contacted me with an update. I had to go into the office twice to see if anything had been done and was completely appalled when I found out they hadnt done any follow up. Although that happened, I was planning on resigning a lease for 14 months. I went into the office on 6/25 and spoke with Monica to request a lease be sent to my father via email so he could print it out, sign and send it back to the office as my cosigner. She told me she would have it prepared and emailed the next day. Simple enough. However, Monica did not send the lease for 5 more days...I had to call the office and speak with another person who emailed her reminding her to send it. She called me back the next day (4 days after it should have already been sent) confirmed with me that she was just about to send the email. She didnt send it until the next day. I called her back about it. On top of being the rudest individual I have EVER had to deal with, she lied. She told me she sent it immediately after speaking with me the previous day...what Monica was too incompetent to realize, is that time stamps on emails dont lie. My dad FINALLY was able to print the lease, have his signature notarized and mailed it back to me. I brought it into the office and was told by the same employee that they couldnt accept it because it was printed on the wrong size paper. I asked her if she included the correct paper dimensions in the email if it was that important, she confirmed she had not. She condescendingly said my dad had tried to do it right, but he obviously needed step by step instructions to print emails correctly (my dad is a pilot who in his spare time enjoys rebuilding computers). She told me she would send another lease via reg.mail to my father for him to sign. He has still not received the lease, 2 months after he should have already received it. 2 HUGE issues. Another issue was that my neighbor had moved out, and left a ton of trash in front of their door. I assumed the maintenance people would take notice and clean it up...a month later, they apparently had not noticed. I know I was not the only person it bothered because another resident wrote in chalk in front of the door throw your trash away DICK which was accompanied by a drawing of an enormous dick. I notified the same employee over a week ago that the trash had been in front of the door for at least a month and to please have someone clean it up. The trash was finally removed yesterday after I went into the office yet again to complain about it. Moral of the story, dont move here.

After talking on the phone multiple times and confirming that Huskies were allowed on the complex, which was THE ONLY REASON we choose this place, we drove 20 hours to get there, and as soon as we are going to sign papers they tell us our Husky is on the restricted list and hes not allowed- their website even says it Their website didnt say anything about a husky being restricted and every time we spoke to them on the phone- not the same person each time they all said huskies were allowed. They said No One we talked to said huskies were allowed- um Aaron did and so did two other females working there.. Once again having him live with us IS THE ONLY REASON WE DECIDED TO LIVE THERE. But after driving for 20 hours, being completely exhausted and wanting to sleep, having the moving company already bringing our stuff to this complex, not having time to find a new place before we have to be at work ready to go and doing underways- we are military. We had no choice to leave our dog with family in a different state and sign a lease, the military already had our information of where our stuff needed to be delivered and we couldnt find a new place in the area that quickly that would let us move in- in two days and change the drop of destitination for our things as well as get fully check into the command. We moved in and ever since that weve had problems- I put a single pair of sweat pants on the shelf and it came crashing down- they fixed it and left the old holes in the walls didnt even cover them, the molding on the doors look like an animal chewed it up and their solution was to paint over it, I put on their check in sheet things wrong with the place and a service request and nothing got fixed for almost two months, the screen to the patio keeps breaking, the AC broke they fixed it and it broke two days later over the weekend, couldnt get a hold of any one through the emergency number, inside our apartment got into the 90s that weekend with no way to get a hold of maintenance. They came by and fixed it again but it still wont cool below 78 and shuts off and then we have to wait to turn it back on again. This place has a ton of problems, we need to move out due to my orders sending me to A base a few hours away from here and since I only have verbal orders and being told I wont get hard copies till just before I leave meaning theres a high chance Ill be under the 30 day notice allotment they wont even let us move out- before I have to transfer- not giving us enough time to settle and get a new place together and comfortable and not have to move in terrible weather conditions. They take days even a week to respond to emailsI havent had a single good experience with this place since the time I talked on the phone with them with interest to move there- thats what they want to be nice and friendly and helpful but as soon as you sign that contract they dont care about you and wont do anything for you or accommodating- they know the only way you can get out of the contract is to pay a lot of money. Either way you have to pay them to stay or buy them out. Its all the same to them they get more money and as soon as you leave they are going to get more from someone else taking your spot. This place is just a scam.Locations great but really really not worth the hassle.

The bad: heating and a/C often costs a lot because air gets in through the doors and wondows. Ive only ever seen one bug and Ive lived here almost a year. I would recommend it to people in their 20s or 30s and maybe families because the beach is so close. The other great thing is the Cape Henry Trails right next to the apartment complex. Plus not even a mile up shore drive is First Landing State park. There were a few car break-ins and it was the same guy each time. It was taken care of and Ive never had any issues with crime. I had written a review on their Facebook page, but it seems they have removed the review option. Kind of ironic if you ask me, since a lot of them were negative. I would never live here, and they have made it clear to me that I never want to rent again as they hold more power then they should and have used it to take advantage of myself and my husband. My husband and I lived in the apartments for a year. We experienced things that they could not control, which I understand. How it was handled, though, could have been better. We had been harassed by our downstairs neighbor to the point where we knew she was watching us (she had told the office staff that) and we had felt a need to get a security system put in for fear that she would do something since we knew she had in the past. She would also go to the office to complain about us on a regular basis and we had stopped receiving news of these complaints after responding to many of them, figuring that the management knew we were doing all we can and that a lot of the time it was just me and our puppy in the apartment as my husband was in the military and often deployed.Fast forward to when we went to break our lease in April 2017. We went in to speak to the property manager. It was our first time speaking with her, as we usually spoke with the other people in the office and had good communication with them. She accused us of not doing anything and made a comment that we had never been in before or tried to call. We showed her in our phone where we had called the office just a few days before in order to report the fact that the person below us was following us around, banging under our feet as we walked. We told her because of the constant harassment we had endured, we were not going to pay the termination fee for leaving early. After an hour and a half of trying to explain to her what we were going through, she finally said she would let us out of the lease but asked us to sign paperwork with the termination fee left blank. We refused, stating she could write anything in that blank when we left. She finally filled in the zero and we left. Two months later, we moved out. It was Fourth of July weekend and we had asked to be notified when they were doing the walk through so we could be present. We werent notified and it continued to be difficult to get them on the phone. I finally did get a young man on the phone, and he had said they would call me when my deposit information was available. The next day, I received an email stating that we owed them approximately $1200 to replace the carpets and do a pull and seal on the floor boards. We tried to speak to the property Manager about it, but she was again not responsive. The Assistant Property Manager was willing speak to us, and we appreciate that, but we do not owe them that money. The carpets had been cleaned and after speaking to lawyers we will be trying to get the money back that we paid them. We have also been in contact with a news reporter who has been working on a story about this issue. When I did try to take the check in, they did not want to take it because we had written that the money was in dispute since we never agreed with the charges since they told us we owed them. They tried to hand the check back and say they would send it to collections, but because I had tried to pay and had a receipt, if they did send it to collections I would tell collections we had tried to pay but they wouldnt take the money. The whole interaction has been stressful and was stressful from the beginning, when we first moved in. Do not move to this complex, as this is not the only issue. They had issues with the trash compactor many times, most of the time you couldnt get a hold of the main office, and there had been rats and other rodents around the complex. When I had brought up the rats, I was told they were roof rats, but that being said finding one on your welcome mat is not a comfortable feeling. I am sorry for anyone who is going through any of these issues.

The community has been managed by at least four management companies since I moved in. There is no communication, maintenance requests can take weeks to resolve (plus several calls because issues were never resolved) and the apartments are extremely noisy. I can clearly hear conversations of the neighbors above and next to me, and every footstep from the neighbors above me. The community is being remodeled, which means wood floors in the apartments. Although the appearance is improved, the noise is just amplified. If youre looking for a place by the beach, choose somewhere else. This community will only cause frustration. I will not be extending my lease at this location.

Do Not Rent Here.I was born and raised in VB, moved away after college, and returned three years later for a new job. Unfortunately, I moved to Marina Shores.I wish I didnt have to say this because admitting that I spent two years of my life living like an a-hole..which i did...is kind of soul sucking...but i can chalk it up to being young and dumb, right? maybe...whatever justification I come up with, it doesnt change my advice to you...DO NOT RENT HERE.These are slum lords. I rented in NYC for 3 years before moving back to the area, Marina Shores FJG Management Group stands along side with those landlords. You will have constant roach problems, your basic utilities and appliances will break (my heat was out for a whole month during the dead of winter; it was so cold at one point I cried myself to sleep on the kitchen floor next to the oven to get warm). Think that was a fluke? well it happened twice again in the summer with the AC (it was bad, I woke up every hour to switch out wet towels from the refrigerator....and the only reason I had any air was because I bought ceiling fans and installed them myself)...When I approached management about the bug, heating, a/c, and leaking refrigerator - they played dumb. Well not at first, at first they are kind, and want to help, then when it comes to fulfilling tasks or promises - they completely drop the ball. For example: I told them about the roach problem and they said extermination is not included in the rent so you will have to pay an extra monthly fee...sure! not a problem, Ill pay whatever you want...i just dont want bugs! ...so i paid... I NEVER once saw an exterminator (I work at night, so I waited one week to see if I was missing them)...and when i asked (begged, pleaded...) with management to fix the bug problem, they said I needed to call once a week to re-book an appointment each time. uh, what? this is still my fault? ok, but dont you have a desire to keep your apartments pest and rodent free? whatever. ill call each Monday...never saw an exterminator...ever. NOTE: if you rent here, better add Manage my property manager to your list of Thing To Do.And I had it the easiest. Another resident I spoke with had electrical problems which are still being argued to this day even though this person moved out over the summer.Another neighbor mentioned that for 4 months in a row he did not received his rent bill on time (which includes some utilities so its never the same each month). He was charged a late fee for all 4 months until his lease ended. He moved out in the middle of the night as fast as he could. He was a surgeon renting with his wife. This was just a temporary place while they worked to overhaul procedures at a local hospital. He said he couldnt move out of Marina Shore fast enough. Ive never seen such a mild mannered guy in so much disgust. These are just a few stories. You be the judge. But for the price, the location, etc...you are better off renting a house from some awesome guys in the neighborhoods around the area. The Shore Drive Community is amazing, but Marina Shores doesnt fit. They dont get it. They will ruin your experience of living in Virginia Beach.
