I called several places in the area with not even a return call. I called Refresh and was so surprised that they scheduled me with a therapist specializing in what I need!! My therapist is a great listener and offers coping skills that I’ve used so many times since the pandemic. I’m eternally grateful for the office staff and my counselor.

A great team to work with. Have enjoyed working with them for several years now, and I always appreciate their discernment in finding the right fit for their clients.

Well I wont be doing that. I have already had the unfortunate experience of reaching out to your clinic once for help, which only left me dejected and un-helped. I will not make that mistake again. After being put on a waiting list, after looking for counseling for months, I finally received a call back from Diana, your Intake Specialist. Feeling immense relief that I would finally have someone to talk to and receive help, I proceeded to answer her intake questions honestly. What are you going through, what is happening in your life right now, how do you feel? etc. Depression, anxiety, despair and sometimes paranoia I explained. Taking time off of work to care for myself, having been feeling worse the longer I go without receiving any help. After about 90 seconds of speaking to me she proceeds to use my symptoms against me as reasons why they may not be able to help me. The fact that Im taking time off of work means I might be too far along for them to help she states, preparing me for the fact that your clinic probably wont be able to help me. I expressed grievance for this; feeling grief and sadness that I was being judged as beyond help after a 90 second conversation, before anyone had even taken the time to know me or what I need. Its annoying that you have already decided you cant help me before you even know what I need I stated. She responded Im going to end the conversation here and refused to schedule with me. Leaving me in shock, with a lot of questions as to why...I then proceeded to beg for help and negotiate as to why I am worth helping, not my proudest moment, as I shouldnt have to do this. Her tone only grew in condensation and disdain and she became very defensive. Stating if I dont trust her to do her job than I cant be helped. First of all I dont even know what her job is, I dont know her, the situation is quite literally about me, as I am the one asking for help. She did not understand this and proceeded to be defensive and then, she hung up on me. Confused and shocked by my treatment I called back. After waiting on hold for several minutes I was finally transferred back to Diana. How can I help you she says, I explained it was me, the person you just got disconnected from. With indifference she proceeds, and how can I help you. I realized at this point she had no intention of calling me back or resolving the fact that she HUNG UP ON ME. I continued to explain my situation and beg for help. To which her reply was to further diagnose me as someone beyond help by anyone at your clinic, for anxiety and depression. The last time I checked those were the two main mental health disorders that plagued our nation. And what all counselors receive training in. But your clinic isnt prepared to help with this, because apparently the added layer of feeling paranoid and taking time off work to rest is too much for you. Well let me tell you something, I wouldnt trust your clinic to stand on its own two feet. While trying to balance that as a sustainable small business. Yes well I see what youre doing here. Frankly its not my problem how you define and manage your business, I am the one asking for help, for the services you claim to provide. And you have failed to do so. Your subtle solicitation for sympathy is only another red flag to me that you dont understand your purpose.Mental health 101:1)Depression, anxiety and paranoia are all connected. 2)To judge someone based on their expression of these dispositions rather than help them is pathetic, unprofessional and negligent.3)Depression and anxiety often lead to isolation, isolation leads to paranoia. You ought to have learned that at university, in any accredited psychological program. There is a reason why isolation is a punishment in prison. Because it punishes the brain, and this is the most severe way to punish a human being.Am I to assume you only help people who are mostly healthy and just need to refresh? Any actual manifestation of real mental health issues, like depression and the likes are just simply beneath you.
