Excellent service and staff. I recommend Toms to anyone who needs machine work! Fair pricing and meet their turn around time every time Ive done business with them.
I took my 99 Cobra Mustang, witch was having some engine problems (possible blown head gasket) to Toms Performance. I wanted a place that could do all the work in house and not have to have it be shipped out. I decided to have the motor completely rebuilt. A friend had told me Toms was the place to go, and I was not disappointed. I met with Alexis in the office and went over all of my options. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions, as well as giving helpful advice. While the work was being done, Tom, Jason and Alexis kept in touch to keep me updated on their progress. They had my car ready in the projected time frame and it was even a couple $s less. END RESULT (see picture) it runs better than it looks. I definitely recommend Toms Performance for your repair needs, big or small. You wont be disappointed. Thank you, Tom, Jason and AlexisMichael Fissel
They couldnt get to me in my time frame but the receptionist was courteous.
Great service but that comes at a price
This shop is first rate. Tom did some extensive machine work on my Audi S4s block to get it ready for some big power. All the work was excellent and fairly priced. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable... I had a lot of questions for them since this was my first major build and they were more than patient.
We dont bring hotrods in for repair, we bring our everyday drivers. So far Toms has repaired our 2014 Subaru, 3 different Nissan Xterras, 2002 Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camery, 1 crusty Saturn and a Honda Civic. They have always done a great job and at a honest price.
Just plain honest, they helped me when I thought no one else could, Dont tell too many others.
I had a solution for a hot rod motor problem I thought would work and they were able to do it. A technical press machine job I didnt think I would find a place to do it. They did it, and quickly. Thank you Toms Performance
After being referred to tom and having him build a sbc for me he made sure to ask all the questions so I had A motor that would do what I wanted it to do not just a high horsepower engine. He made sure everything worked together, from what cam to use with the intake and carb to exhaust size and length. After that he then built the engine to perform the way I wanted. Im glad I listened I got exactly what I wanted. If I would have went my route it would have been terrible. Listen to Tom and his suggestions, he is the king of performance.... thanks
Had then do my 351 heads off my boat .. excellent work! Engine has never performed this well!
Great customer service. Very knowledgeable and thorough. I was shopping for a stroker kit for my sons Camaro and they took the time to explain what I would need and sent me a quote very quickly. I will come here for all my performance needs.
Outstanding! Very nice people, really happy I chose Toms for my dyno session
Fast and friendly service. Took exte time out of what Im sure was a busy day and explained everything to me. Heads were rebuilt amd upgraded just as I asked in a very reasonable time especially working around thanksgiving.
Staff was real knowledgeable very amply supplied pretty much everything you need. They are very honest and tell you how much its going to cost. Lots of parking. Wheelchair friendly and parking. Clean restrooms.👍👍
I recently brought my 2006 Mazda Tribute to Toms. It had a weird lopping idle that was very difficult to diagnose as two other mechanics had looked at it and could not determine the cause. I had heard how great a mechanic Tom is so I came in and spoken to him about the problem. I showed him all the tests the previous mechanics had performed. The last mechanic since he could not diagnose the problem had stated that it was most likely an issue with the computer (which is very expensive!).Tom suggested going through the tests... while not ruling the previous tests out he mentioned that their are several ways of doing some of the tests which are better than others. He further pointed to parts the other mechanic had put in that did not fix the issue... he said we we would have taken the part back and not charged you for it.Toms may not be the cheapest when it comes to auto repair... but I will say this. I have found out from personal experience that a good and honest mechanic is always a cheaper mechanic! I didnt go to Toms at first because I thought I could save a few bucks... I will not make that mistake ever again! Thanks Tom... The Mazda runs beautifully now.
I run an automotive repair shop on the other side of Vancouver and Toms is our GO TO place for the highest quality machine work. Turn around time is quick and work is great! He has built a couple high performance engines for us as well and they blow all his competition away. Keep up the GREAT work!!
I have brought them 2 vehicles for engine work. A 1973 F-100 and a 1986 SS Monte Carlo. Both times they have done great work. I currently have the SS Monte Carlo in the shop getting a motor swapped and expect to get the same great work/service. I will add another review after I get the Monte Carlo back. Looking forward to it!
Brought my Ranger here for a fuel pump and A/F gauge. These items were installed for a fair price, at the lower end of my estimate.I was recommended by a friend at work and I would recommend Toms performance to anyone who wants a fair price, and quality work. I will be taking my rigs back here.
Owner wont take responsibility for poor workmanship and wouldnt make himself available to try to handle my customer complaints. Employee Installed inferior parts where I had upgraded ones installed. Asked for my brand new expensive parts back, were told they were thrown out. Assistant works unsupervised? Requested they correct leaks and valve cover gasket that came out, nothing but lip service and arguments from the counter. Blame it on the employee, nope, ignored the facts. Employee was rude and wanted to keep my collector vehicle over an additional weekend to test drive it. Nope, Never again...........
Took an engine block in and had it completely worked over. Just to have no specs on the block. Everything looking decent, but not overly thrilled, I decided to give the shop another chance and took some control arms in to have new bushing pressed in. when I got the control arms back the bushings were in but the arms were bent and they proceeded to tell me that they were like that before they received them. I wouldnt take a bolt there to be threaded nor would I refer anyone that wants machine work done correctly and honestly.
Tom made excellent, cost conscious recommendations based on my goals. He machined my block and head for my 1988 Thunderbirds 2.3L turbo engine. Has been running flawlessly as my daily driver for close to 2 months now. Will be back soon for a head build. Thanks Tom!
I dropped off a pair of cylinder heads and some new valves with oversized valve stems. I also asked for 30 degree valve seats. Four days later I called and was told that they would not do the work. I would have appreciated hearing the news sooner, and Im surprised that they would not resize the valve guides.
Had him Press a new Sleeve into A Polaris cylinder, he originally quoted me at $140. By the time i walked out he had raised the price to $193. And taken Way longer that they said, the quality of the work was decent but lousy customer service and the person at the front forgot that they needed another part to complete the job, so i had to drive back out twice to get the job done right,I have more machine work but will not be taking it to toms,Takes To long, charges to much and has poor customer service. And the worst part was the person who i talked to on the phone and in their office was CLUELESS. No idea what she was talking about. Made my job a lot harder.Bottom Line:If you have a lot of money, time and patience Go to tom,If not STAY FAR Away.
Always delivers, fair pricing, resurfaced many a flywheel, pressed multiple bearings and reliable engine rebuilder
Toms is the only place to go for auto repair. They are always fair..do the best job possible. I would without question refer anyone to Toms.
I had them rebuild the motor for my quad, and have had no problems at all. They are a little expensive, but as my dad always said, You get what you pay for. Its a Family business and it shows through the way they take care of their customers.
The worst customer service. Just about the most worthless machine shop in the area. Front reception lady was extremely rude and arrogant acting like she knew what she was talking about but was clueless. Refused to perform a simple gasket surface resurfacing job on a 6 cylinder diesel manifold. It’s a flat straight surface that any competent machine shop could do in literally 15 mins. “It has to have a flat surface for it to fit in our belt sander”. Lady, it’s a straight 6 Cummins manifold, it’s doesnt get any flatter.. Also refused to take on a simple mill job on a rocker pedestal that would take another 10 mins because “our machinist is leaving on vacation in two days so we aren’t taking any work on”. “It would be at least 3-4 weeks”. What the hell kind of business is this? Just wow. Give me 20 mins with the Bridgeport (if you even have one) and I’ll do it myself and leave you a $50 bill for equipment rental. I’ve had bad experiences from these guys in the past and thought I’d give them another chance. My mistake. Stay far away and go elsewhere for machine work. This is coming from a die hard gearhead that knows and has performed the work personally but currently doesn’t have the equipment.
After trying to get some control arm bushings out of my control arms i drop them off and had them taken care of ASAP picked up the next day. They did a great jobs and pressed everything i with out damaging any of the bushings. will be back.
Very poor craftmanship - below industry standards. You get what you pay for thats for sure. Id find another shop before coming here again.
Happy to help you, and your family.
After getting home with the $5000 build and dyno tune of my small block Chevy I pulled the dipstick to check the oil and discovered that the bottom 3 inches of the dipstick where MISSING. I talked to Tom and his first comment was that the dipstick on a small block Chevy cant hit the crankshaft and that his assistant swears that he checked my oil after the dyno tune. I removed the oil pan plug and 2 small pieces of dipstick where clinging to the magnetic plug. After removing the oil pan I discovered that the windage tray was deflecting the dipstick INTO the crankshaft and I found the third missing piece of dipstick. Tom is a real nice guy but evidently unable to admit his and his employees mistakes. I have lost ALL faith in Tom. Steve Benghiat and his 69 Chevelle.
Took them 30 days to rebuild my motor, kept saying the guy thats working on it was gone or waiting on this or..... cost me a full month for my rental and my van has never run the same since. I will never send any business including my own here again. I have never been so unhappy with an auto service in my life.
Very pleased with there service so far.
I had him service some cylinder heads for me and he lost the dowel pins which were in them. Then when I asked if he could get me some he gave me the wrong size. the work on the heads was good but the issue with the pins has put me back a week now and has left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably would not use him again.
They always did a great job for me
Needed a DEQ waiver for 2001 Toyota van-they were able to diagnose and fix the misfire problem for a little more than the $150 minimum charge. Thanks-Vonn.
Great work but very slow
