Recently moved in the area, and I have visited few nail salons in Valpo, with really almost never getting my nails done right.Star Nail Salon is great! Lily and Jordan are great all the way around! Nice, friendly and they do amazing work!I have found a place that I will be coming back, and be a regular customer!Thank you Lily and Jordan!!!

We called last minute for 2 fills at 630. The owners stayed open for us till 830 completing our nails and a full facial wax. They did beyond amazing on the nails and wax and were so friendly. Thanks for taking great care of us. After several years at another salon you now have a new loyal patron!!!

This salon is AMAZING 🤩 me and my mom made appointments for pedicures and they worked with when we wanted to come in. All nail techs were extremely kind. The women who did our pedicures were incredibly kind and talented. The salon is very clean, sanitary, and a wonderful environment. I will be returning and bringing friends!

The lady who did my nail was very polite and helped me bc I was very nervous and anxious. I do appreciate that a lot because, not a lot places or people would do that. I asked for simple coffin and regular paint. The shape was bad it was so chunky and the nail length wasn’t the same at all. I made an appointment and was told on phone it was $28 for a full set well my full charge was $65ish. After 3 days 2 of my nails popped off in my sleep. I went and got them fixed and she rushed didn’t file and painted my nail the wrong color. She pushed a design I expressed I didn’t want any design, but still did. Overall I wouldn’t go again but i’ve also been too way worse.

Very rude, barely spoke to me, but talked frequently to a coworker in their native language. Seemed like she was in a rush and actually hurt me, but didn’t say anything even when I pulled back and said ouch. Will never go there again! Just rude!

The gentleman who did my nails was absolutely amazing! He took his time, was very detail-oriented, and didnt settle for any mistakes! I was very impressed with the detail of his work.

Honestly for it being my first time getting my nails done it wasnt a great experience. My nails hurt so bad I couldnt even take care of my son let alone go to the bathroom or do anything else a normal person needs to do. I was also upset that the person I went with had to wait 20 mins or so for someone to come back that was doing her nails and I was even more upset that I didnt even get to pick the color for my nails at all. They pushed on my nails really hard as well over all everything hurt that they did aside from getting my toenails done.

I absolutely love the atmosphere at Star nails! I wish I could give more than 5 stars. The staff is fantastic. Their work ethic is awesome. Not to mention how much I love my getting my nails, eyebrows and pedicures done there. I travel 30 minutes to get there and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. They are the BEST!!!

The hardest part about relocating to another state is finding another nail girl. My nail technician did a great job one my mini coffins with a gel finish! They is quick and neat and on point. Five star service, excellent technicians. Everyone was so happy and I will definitely be coming back!

They are so good. I loved everything. My mom, dad, and I went here before vacation and lets just say we were definitely not disappointed.

Very rude. The man who did my moms nails complained about how my mom cut her nails wrong the entire time. When we were getting a pedicure, they did not put a bag into the foot tub which is very unsanitary. Also, we did French tips and they rubbed almost completely off the very next day. On top of all of this, I asked for the $30 package and they told me ok and started.Then when it was time to pay, I was told they do not have a $30 combo, even though it is advertised on their website. When I called to speak to the manager about all of these things, the woman refused to direct me to a manager, was very disrespectful, and refused to do anything to help. DO NOT GO HERE.

On my boyfriend’s birthday party I want to have the beautiful mani/pedi and decide to drive in this place again!! Awesome location and great staff. I plan to go back for a fill in soon :).

This salon is wonderful! Today was the first time I have ever been here before, and I am pleased! Many salons do not have a wide range of colors, especially for the dipped nails (which is what I get) and they had 20+ colors to choose from! I will definitely will be back!

A very nice, relaxing experience. They were busy but never made me feel rushed. The staff was very nice and there was more than one regular that came in while I was there. The tech did a meticulous job on my pedicure. I’ll definitely be back.

Once you start going regularly, they know what you want done to your nails as soon as you walk in! I went here for a year, and they have always done a great job on my no-chip nails. My nails never thinned out much or had any damage. Unfortunately, Im not living in the area anymore and have to go somewhere else, but whenever I visit my parents, I will be back. Theyre fantastic people with skillful work that make you feel great and pampered. Love this salon!

Lilly & Jordan always do a great job. They remove the gel polish in their shop by soaking your nails. If you try to take them off yourself at home, you could temporarily damage your nails plus you would still have some of the acrylic overlay on them. Always have them remove the gel polish for best results. They are the professionals.

Star Nails is the BEST nail salon in NW Indiana! If you want your nails done perfectly and professionally, than this is the salon for you. Both Lily and Jordan make you feel like family and they go out of their way to make certain that your needs are met. Debbie has also done my nails for many years, and she is also a consummate professional. My polish lasts on my manicures & pedicures and I have garnered many compliments. Dont hesitate to visit Star Nails. Their prices are VERY reasonable, their quality of work is outstanding & the friendly atmosphere make for a very pleasant experience. What more could you ask for? Got my nails done Wednesday for my siblings wedding, less that 48 hours later, both my thumb nails are messed up. One just a little chip, in the no-chip polish, and the other had a huge chunk missing. I called, explained that I was already out of town for the wedding, and couldn’t come in like they wanted to me so they could fix it. I shouldn’t have to come In to have them fix it, they should do it right the first time! I asked for a partial refund, and they said they didn’t really do that, they would need to see it, and they would fix it. I explained that I couldn’t come in til Monday, after the wedding, and that I would have to fix it myself before the wedding, and that I didn’t want it fixed AFTER. Very unhelpful, I paid $40 to do my own nails.

They take care of everybody in a special way. Great people, great place, all of them are special.

So i would rate the pedicure 5 stars, that part of my appointment was great. My manicure on the other hand was sub-par, and maybe thats my fault for not checking my hands before i left. Mt cuticles were not cleaned up at all and the extensions that were put on were crooked. Although i wasnt happy with my manicure, the dip held strong for 3 full weeks. It was applied thicker than i prefer though. I would not recommend for manicures, but would definitely tell people to go for pedicures.

I love Star Nails. I have been coming here for years. I will not go anywhere else. Lily uses the Diamond Nails for my nails because I am very allergic to the acrylic nails. She has this new natural powder dipping gel. I love it!! Jordan gives a real good foot pedicure.

Ive been going here since I was 15, and I hate going anywhere else! Lily and Jordan are so fun and do such a great job. They are both really easy going & everything is always clean and relaxing. Not to mention every time I leave my nails look awesome, for a way better price than any of the other salons near by. Try them out next time!🙂

Polite customer service, clean, relaxing shop, but the quality of the manicures made me stop going here. These pics are my nails now. Its been over 3 weeks since I took off the acrylic overlay I had on and there are STILL remnants of the acrylic nail that I cannot remove no matter what I do. Its highly unlikely Ill be coming back again, which is such a shame because this is an otherwise fantastic nail shop.

I had a scheduled appointment that morning. They did not complete one service I asked for. Left completely unhappy. I will not go back, nor to a nail salon again. This was my first manicure and pedicure, I asked for both dipped nails. I was preparing for an event for the next day. I recieved no manicure at all just my nails done poorly and rushed. Pedicure or lack of and she painted my toes also poorly done not dipped nails like I asked for. Just rushing. I was 1 of 2 customers at 10am.

I got my nails done for thanksgiving here and also today for Christmas; they are beautiful! Even though it was time consuming the technician, Lily, did not mind and she even added her own touch which made them pop even more! I love them!

This is going to be extremely in depth. I know someone out there can appreciate a step by step review on my experience. The technicians treated me very kindly. They held conversation with me, which isn’t common. Very professional, personable, and kind. Very fluent in English and they spoke in English the entire time, also not common but also refreshing and nice. Now let’s talk about my experience and the most important part- quality of work, price, & overall experience. My nail job from my previous tech was very poor therefor it took the tech at this location about an hour just to soak them off. He did soak them off. This is important to note because not all salons will soak off. Some just go right into ripping them off. It took about an hour to remove my previous nails. It then took about 2 more hours to complete my nails. Pink & white ombré. The other tech was trying to convince me to do dip powder and I did have to politely decline more than once which I didn’t appreciate. Please do not try to talk me out of the service I want to pay for. He did not cut the sides of my nails into the coffin shape and I even mentioned that. I said “you’re not cutting them into shape?” And he continued to just file my tips into a poorly shaped coffin. No crisp edges or good shape. He laid down the white as normal...but then he laid down clear which is not what I asked for...and then he laid down the pink on top. I have never had a tech apply the clear gel to my nails when I’m getting pink and white... but I decided to just keep quiet and “trust the process” lol. After he applied the gel he turned on the fan and I let my nails fan dry while he worked on the other hand. After he was done applying the gel he began to shape my nails. He used the motorized files and a regular file. He never used a buffing block. The other tech at this point took over to shape my nails. There were little bubbles in my nails and she asked me why it was like that to which I responded “I don’t know?”...I’m not the one you should be asking. I haven’t touched my nails. Anyway she then continued to file my nails and she was just sort of all over the place. My nails do not have crisp sides as they usually do. There are chunks of white powder on the underside of my nails that were not filed away. She then put the top coat on and my nails were put under the lamp as usual and they were finished. She did have me wash my hands before applying the top coat. However my tech had gotten the white powder/acetone mix stuff to my fingers and sides of my nails and she used her nail to scratch at the stuff on my fingers to get it off. Don’t scratch me to get stuff off...that is super unsanitary and it hurts. I was then told to go to the front to pay and she charged me $65. I was not told why a take off and link and white was $65. I’m assuming she charged me $45 for pink and white, $10 more bc it’s ombré, $5 for a take off, and $5 for the shape. I just find it weird that when she asked me where I went prior..she sounded like she knew the place and she asked me “I bet they were expensive how much did they charge you” to which I replied $65. But those nails were done at a salon that advertises their prices at a higher rate. I had poor work. My nails bend downward and look like bear claws. He ran the pink gel too far into the white and it gives my nails a yellow tint.. Very thick and unflattering. I had a long service time. And it was expensive. However they were extremely kind and conversationalists. However I would rather have quality work than friendly service...for $65.

I have been going to Star Nails for almost two years since I moved to NWI from Maryland. They were the second nail salon I visited in town after moving here. After one visit, I knew there would be no need to try other salons. Lilly and Jordan are friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and offer a wide variety of nail services and high-quality products at a very reasonable price. They stand behind their work and on the rare occasion that Ive had a problem, they have fixed it for free. I always enjoy visiting Star Nails for my Mommy Time and feel relaxed and pampered when I leave.

My wife and I stopped here traveling and we were not disappointed. Beisides the pricing and cleanliness, the staff was incredibly friendly. An elderly women came in and they helped her to her predicure spot, made sure she was comfortable, and was extra careful with her.My pedicure was great, the massage was long. I rarely leave reviews but the place is very nice and the people were very friendly. I’ve been here twice, first time was about a year ago and my acrylics fell off within a week. So I tried them out again and again my acrylics fell off within a week! I don’t know if the acyrlic powder is old or something but it’s annoying. Not worth it.

Some of the nicest people Ive ever experienced at a nail salon and they took very good care of me. They didnt cut my nail beds at all, unlike the last salon I went to. Thank you Jordan and Lily!

Its so upsetting that this happened so early in; definitely never going near this place again!Original post: As much as I wanted to love this place; the results gave me a reason not to. Not only did I make an appointment to get a full set and pedicure I waited 2 hours after my pedicure was done to receive a sloppy manicur. Lily did not charge me for gel on my acrylic; in which she put on my nails due to the amount of time I waited but that did not justify the way my nails were done. It was as if they were rushing me out the door, no cuticles were trim, no length size was asked to see if I wanted them long; I was told she can do square nails although I wanted coffin and they still look round. Its just a big disappointment. I will definitely not be returning. I will be uploading the photos once I get home on my computer; so everyone can realize how horrible they look.Photos: the photos were the same exact day I got my nails done. Never again I tell you. Its extremely disappointing. I honestly do not know why they have a 4 star. I will be visiting the real star nails in Portage!

If i could give no stars I would. First off I waited 2hrs to even get in a chair. The wait is always long so be prepared. I have been to star nails more than two times and every time the same nail tech has done my nails. I’ve always tipped her but this time I went I got a full set of acrylic nails And in the end my nails look like boxes. Before she polished them, I asked if she could make them smaller not in a coffin shape. Just the natural shape of nails. She told me that they wouldn’t be big and they ended up big and had a bad paint job. I then asked jordan (the manager) if another tech could fix them because I obviously wasn’t happy. He looked at me and then looked away leaving me to stand there waiting for a response. Thats when I left. I won’t ever go here again, I will go somewhere where they appreciate my business. I live in Indianapolis and my grandmother lives in Knox IN. i wanted to treat my grandmother to a nice pedicure and manicure when I visited her in Knox over Thanksgiving weekend. in july she had a heart attack and in august we lost my grandpa...from the start Debbie was friendly but very unprofessional. sweating,singing, and acting very weird (like she was under the influence of something) she gave the quickest pedicure I ever seen. the manicure, which was done by Lilly went a little better but they did not trim her cuticles! afterwards my grandmother was scared/hesistant to put her socks and shoes on but at the insistence of Debbie and Lilly, they told her 3x that she would be okay by putting them on, she did and we went back home to Knox.this was on a Saturday and they were closed Sunday,the day I had to return to Indy...so I called Monday morning when the reopened. Lilly apologized and wanted my grandma to come back to Valpo for her to get her nails fixed,but that wasnt possible given because my grandma doesnt drive anymore and I was already back in Indy...I wouldnt return to this salon if I was around because at this point I dont think they want to make a customer happy. they were very unprofessional and something should be done about Debbie! I paid 50$ that day and 15$ tip....65$ total and only thought that because of the insistence of putting socks on my grandma, should I be refunded of the 28$ that the pedicure cost. its taken me a couple weeks but I finally wrote the review, I would not refer this place for anyone to go to, let alone take my grandmother back there! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

I wish I could give them less than a star, went in for a full set and paid $45 for short acrylic nails with regular paint. The women I had did not speak to me the entire time, was rough, and put the set on in under 15 minutes. They are uneven, and ugly. I will never go back.

Waited for well over an hour for service, then when I did finally get to tell him what I wanted he had remarks regarding my nails that where rude, he did a poor job with my nails and then the polish was done poorly too. Will NOT be back !
