I signed up for a price of $45.99. Make sure you read the fine print on your papers!!! They do not tell you about the fees that you pay yearly, even when you are not there a year you pay the fees!!! I was there 2 months before I paid the yearly fee! They do not work with you. They say you signed it not our problem. Worst experience ever!!! I paid over $215.00 for 3 months/ 1-2 times a week!
Ive never yet encountered rude employees at either of the Brenda Athletics Turlock locations. Theyve always been knowledgeable about training practices. When I suffered from chronic running injuries, I enlisted the help of a trainer at the Monte Vista location, started lifting heavy weight in combination with running, and got back to full health. I came out stronger than Id ever been. I recommend Brenda Athletics Clubs in Turlock.
You can drop in when there is not a class. Our take the HIT class. Good folks!
Good gym Aside from all the naked old men walking around in the locker rooms...
Brenda is absolutely terrible. I will never enroll again. In 2011, I entered into a contract with Brenda. At the time, it was agreed that if I paid one lump sum payment for two years, I would get one year free. Although it was a lot of money to pay in advance, I thought it was a good deal, so I paid in full in 2011.More than a month ago, I received a phone call from Brenda saying that my membership will expire soon. I told them about the free one more year deal that was in my contract. They told me that they would check on it and contact me. But no one followed up with me. After that, I received another phone call that said the same thing; I had to explain again. I also called on my own several times to make sure that my membership wasnt expired. Every time, Brenda repeated the same things. They always said they will check and contact me. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK.Today, I brought the contact to Brenda with my kids. They wanted to swim there, but the swimming pool was under repair, so we went to the spa instead. While my kids were in the spa, I explained my membership issues to the front desk and showed the contract. But the girls named TRISHA and AUBREE told me I had to contact general manager CHRIS directly, who would be available this Tuesday. I requested them to have Chris contact me since I will be working at that time. After that, I walked to the spa, but Trisha followed me and urged to leave immediately because my membership was expired according to their system.I was very angry. She saw the contact and heard my explanation. I was a victim. She should have told me that my kids and I may be able to use the services today, but that I would have to clear this issue with the manager before next visit. She should apologize this inconvenience.Brenda is the one prolonged this matter and ignored my repeated requests.Trisha and Aubree (especially Trisha) were so rude and expelled me and my children although I am totally entitled to use the facilities. It was one of the worst experiences in my life. I will NEVER enroll in BRENDA again. They are not responsible and their systems are not reliable. Furthermore, their facilities are not clean and bathroom areas are always smelly and humid.
Overcrowded, always under construction, and terrible personal trainers. Me and my fiance both got a personal trainer and our fitness level is completley different but we were both put through the same workout and she ended up passed out and dehydrated. If you wish to make progress, good luck. Ive had staff lecture me for dropping BUMPER PLATES which are designed FOR dropping! You never have access to the whole gym because some part is always under construction. Parking is terrible but thats out of their control. You cant show up on a Saturday without there being a bounce house because the gym is trying to re brand itself from a WASP tennis club to a family fitness center that plays Justin Beiber over the intercom.Ive been told that theres no TV in the girls shower room when there is in the mens which is not my problem but still a little discriminatory. They closed their satelite gym to make a group training center that costs an extra 40 dollars thus making the main gym more crowded.Theres no room!!! Everything is so close together. Good luck not running into people. Theres very few free weights and a ton of machines. Not to mention, they always change their rates without notice and will charge you to get out of your contract.Take your money to a real gym. Not some old mens tennis club turned fitness center. They have no clue how to run a gym. If all you care about is Tennis and using the sauna, I guess its fine.
The WORST costumer service ever!My wife and I used to be members at Modesto location and she used to do her work out there pretty much everyday...until one afternoon when she was called out of the treadmill because apparently there was a problem with her membership...well ...she was brought to the front lobby and this lady that works at the front desk said that she couldnt believe that my wife was still using their facility even after canceling her membership...she accused her of canceling by e-mail and still using the gym.Even thought she assured the employee that there was a mistake because she hadnt sent any e-mail or cancelled...she would not listen or investigate and literally kicked my wife out saying for everybody to hear that she wasnt welcome there...she never felt so humiliated in her entire life. Needless to say, I was furious and went to the gym, demanding an explanation about what had happened andturns out, this employee had mistaken my wife with some one else that had a similar name. After that we didnt feel like going back.....and cancelled the membership...Nothing justify the way they treated my wife ...NOTHING!Horrible costumer service
This is for the Brenda Athletics Active, which is a sub gym from the Brenda Athletics ClubIve been attending this gym regularly for past of two years, I am familiar with the equipments and the staffs. If you are looking for an accurate review, continue reading.First I would like to address the staffs. A good gym is service business first and foremost. When you walk in, you should be greeted with a smile, good eye contact and possibly some small talk. It is considered general manners in many work place, because it showed that theyve recognized your attendance and that they care. However, you wont find the good service at this gym. I have seen many staffs that could care less about you but more concerned with sitting in their little circle TEXTING and talking with their friends. They lack of serious work ethics, you will often feel ignored due to their aloof attitude.Secondly I want to talk about cleanliness. Ive attended many gyms in my life time, and in my opinion, a great gym should have a full time staff that is dedicated to cleaning, which includes bathroom and wiping down equipments after use. At this gym, you will often find clogged toilets, sweat-stained bench, smelly yoga mat and stinky bathroom. A lot of time I have to wipe down the toilet myself before use. This is what you get for a $15 dollar gym.Thirdly, the music system. Ive met many business owners, and the owner of this gym, is definitely the one you considered cheap. The stereo system consists of three small speakers spread through the gym corners. You want the pump? Too bad. They cant even turn it up or the speakers would go fuzzy. Besides the speakers, the music selection is bad as well. Several times I have to request the staff to change the song because it is playing Justin Bieber.Lastly lets talk about the policy enforcement. Whether stopping people from dropping weights loudly, racking weights correctly or prevent people from hogging equipments. You wont see the staffs do any of these at this gym. When you need the 35lb plates, you must unrack all the 45s first that are blocking it. Recently there was a guy going around harasses female members, the staff didnt do anything about till after they received SEVERAL complaints. They say a good company should care about the customers, but I do not see it here.Additional things you should know about this gym:Pros:Many cardio machinesFull sets of dumbbellsVaries weight machinesEmpty gym on the weekendHave LockersHave showersTowel serviceA few very friendly staffsFast phone calls when missing paymentsCons:Compact gymOnly one squat rackOnly one smith machineNo decline bench setNo free olympic bars unless you take it from the bench setLack of olympic bar clampsVery tiny free areaWeight plates are always racked disorderlyPeople hogging the equipmentsIve just summarized my two year experiences at this gym, unfortunately I wasnt able to change the gym early due to the contract I signed. However, if you are still thinking about signing up at this gym, just remember, you are paying them to use their facility and the service, and you should be getting the value for your money!
Is Lisa always in a bad mood or was she just being rude to me?
