Pamana is not only a martial arts school, it’s a strong community of talented and kind people. I highly recommend Pamana if you’re interested in southeast asian martial arts. The instructors are highly skilled but also humble and welcoming. An added bonus is that their online live classes are a great option for those who wish to continue (or begin) their martial arts journey but would prefer to do it from home for the time being. You will learn a lot and you will most likely also laugh a lot— they have fun.
Our family signed up for the online training and have been attending these classes for several months now. The instructors are just amazing - all have deep understanding of the arts they are teaching and all are excellent communicators, explaining not just the how but also the why of the things we are doing during class. They also pay very close attention to what you are doing and will immediately correct your movements/forms, and if you are having difficulties (whether due to an injury or just that your body cant move that way) will give you alternative movements. I love how Pamana Kali also offers restorative flow classes as well as their focus on the culture.
If youre looking for a safe place to learn Martial Arts then this is definitely the place for you. Pamana Kali goes the extra mile to provide its students with not only knowledge on how to properly defend themselves, but knowledge of Philippine culture, history and language. For any family looking to bring their children to a fun place to learn this is also the place for you. Its a very family-friendly place with a lot to offer.
Amazing group of instructors. Able to take you from the basics, all the way through to very advanced curriculum. Their attention to detail, particularly with the online students, is really appreciated.
If want to learn authentic Filipino Martial Arts this is the school for you. Here you will find that there is a big emphasis on the ARTS AND CULTURE as well as a community/family atmosphere.
A community where you feel right at home! cultural practitioners that take good care of their members. a fantastic learning space for all ages
Pamana Kali is an amazing, tight knit community. Students are afforded the opportunity to train and hone skills consistently, cross train with guest instructors and improve their overall physical well-being through said training. I can confidently say that I always leave better than when I came, as training days are the highlight of my whole week.
Pamana Kali is a great place to learn the Filipino martial arts of Kali / Eskrima / Arnis (depending on what you call it) and the Indonesian art of Pencak Silat. The instructors are all very welcoming, adaptable, know what they teach, and you also learn the cultural and historical significance of the mentioned techniques. If you are an experienced martial artist and want to empty your cup, or a total beginner and want to pick up a martial art, Pamana Kali is a great place to start/continue your martial arts journey.
My family and I started with Pamana Kali due to COVID 19 and us looking for suitable online options for us. We were thrilled to see Pamana Kali is offering classes and have been students now for 3 months. In this short time we are overwhelmed by the knowledge, professionalism and welcoming nature of all of the instructors. I especially enjoy their good nature, humour and distinct personalities each shares while leading class. And I especially love that Guro Alvin, the head instructor, has a deep love for the community and for healing practices. Two nights a week we do restorative classes that have included yoga, tai chi, Hawaiian indigenous practices, Filipino art and culture and many more. No prior skill or knowledge required. And, I have bad knees, but they help me modify everything so I can still participate. If you are not in LA, and looking for a great online experience, this is an amazing school. (If youre in LA - lucky you...go to class there - well in non- COVID times anyways) 🙏🏽
I can’t wait for Covid-19 to be over, I can’t wait to see you guys as well!
Alvin is an inspirational community leader and teacher. The space at Pamana Kali is welcoming and inclusive. I was thrilled to be there as a guest teacher and I really think it is a great school for Martial Arts.

As an occupational therapist, I put a lot wear and tear on my body moving patients. Training at Panama kali has been great for recovery, gaining mobility and strength, and doing so in a safe manner.Alvin Catacutan and his team of instructors are renown teachers in kali and silat with dynamic teaching methods, along with a family atmosphere with the most genuine, down to earth members youll come across. Pamana Kali has created a community that proudly ties martial arts with its ancestral culture and roots.
Guro Alvin is a wonderful teacher and a highly skilled practitioner of the Filipino Martial Arts, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and more. He is very versatile not only in the wide range of what he is able to teach but also how he teaches it and who he can teach it to. He is very patient but can go highly technical and deep into the art if he feels you are ready and he is great with both kids and adults. I myself am a black belt in karate and I go to him for weekly instruction and my skills and knowledge have definitely jumped up since he has been coaching me. I highly recommend Guro Alvin and Pamana Kali!William Christopher Ford
