Great attention from instructors and staff. My son and I visited during our summer break. We was readily greeted and welcomed as we walked in. Signed up as a visitor and went right into class. Little Champs Class was awesome Sam Fernandez and the other instructors were great. They made my 5 year old son and other kids that were here for the first time feel welcomed. Sam greeted them with a handshake and had the whole class welcome them. Son loved the class. We will be coming back soon! Master Cycle for me was awesome. Rener is a great instructor-clear and concise. Had a chance to roll with blue, purple and combative belts! They all rolled great and gave me great advice.

On vacation from Philadelphia and my wife got to take a class drop in class. She trains back home but you never know what your experience will be when traveling cross country. The Gracies and University staff couldnt have been more welcoming! Thanks for a great experience.

Always friendly. Best instruction. Syllabus provides opportunity to plan ahead. Instructors walk the mat helping or simply raise your hand if you want help. Finally, they take you step by step, not throwing you to the advanced belts before you are ready.

This is their headquarters, and it shows! A large building with a beautiful entry way, super friendly staff, and a wonderful museum immediately wows. The instructors are top notch, friendly, open and drive the students. The training space is large, with a good viewing area that provides room for people to watch.If youre interested in checking them out, just walk in and ask! Theyre very open to watching classes. Parking can get a little tight outside between classes, but Ive yet to not be able to find a spot to park.

Visited from out of town and the staff was very friendly. Got a private tour and joined in a class for the day. Very family oriented environment. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Rener Gracie and his team are great teachers on all levels and they make sure you understand before moving on. Will visit again when Im back in town!

Went on vacation to LA and stopped by Gracie University for some classes. Rener, Ryron, and all the instructors are so knowledgeable and really great at teaching jiu-jitsu. You know the jiu-jitsu is legit when you see UFC and Bellator fighters in the group classes. Awesome experience! I’ll be back for sure!

Amazing martial arts academy in South Bay. Well organized and clean. I took my 8yrs old daughter to see the place after many years learning with the Gracies from a far. They made the experience seamless by providing 10 days free and the uniform and 25% discount for familys package. She (and I 😃) had the first class on the same day, actually. I also loved how inclusive they were to both of us during each training session. They have a very structured bjj program with clear schedules and even a card system to monitor the students progress. It was a friction free experience from arrival, to actually practicing the sport. I appreciate Rener, Sam, Eddie and the girls at check-in. I went there just to see, we ended up learning a couple useful moves, just great!

Cabinet level instruction. Curriculum is clear and concise with access to online videos so you can review the technique before class. My daughters started in the BullyProof program and now their confidence is through the roof ! I train as well. Im 41 years old and its a great recreational activity for ages 5 to 95. Its a family friendly atmosphere. The staff is phenomenal. My daughters & I bond on the mat while learning self defense. Its a WIN WIN, a total no brainer. I highly recommend this place.

As a young adult about to graduate college, I found that Jiu-Jitsu has provided me with balance and peace in a time of uncertainty. I purchased a month of membership through groupons and have yet to be able to use it. I have been here on three different occasions and on all three the academy has been closed. On their website it states that their are open 9am-9pm Monday-Friday. It is Tuesday 7pm but I arrived at 6:28 to find the academy closed again. And if you call the academy will will get an automatic voice recording stating their are open from 9am-9pm.

Facilities are immaculate. Staff is exceptional. Teaching is superb. Cant recommend this school enough.

I flew out to LA and drove down to Torrance, CA to the academy. I have done martial arts for over thirty five years. I trained BJJ back in my early thirties and decided to pick it back up 20 years later. I met Royce Gracie just after he won the very first UFC at a Cheesecake Factory in LA (like 20 years ago) he was very approachable and at that time he invited me to the Torrance academy. Twenty years later which was just a couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of meeting and training with Renner Gracie for a combatives class at the Torrance Academy. I have been watching him online at Gracie University Online. I also took two private sessions with Alex Stuart a black belt instructor at the academy who is awesome! Great guy and great BJJ player. Everyone was exceptionally polite! Everyone in the locker room, front desk and on the mat. I have trained at alot of schools over the years and unfortunately you dont see that very often especially in the locker room and behind the scenes. These guys were great! I love watching Renner and Ryron on YouTube and I will definitely be back to Torrance as well as travelling to meet up with the brothers Renner and Ryron for workshops. Thank you all very much! Much respect!

This is the best Brazilian jiu jitsu school I have been to. Between the state of the art facilities, amazing bathrooms, the largest BJJ mat on the planet, and in my opinion the best group of instructors around, you cannot best this place.

Seems to be the perfect learning environment. We came to visit and check it out, but unfortunately were too far away to make it practical for us to train here.

The best place for anyone to learn jiu jitsu for life

Gracie Academy has come a long long way since it was in Rorions garage. Although I never trained in Rorions garage, I have a few friends that did back in the day. I went to the one in Torrance on Carson street. Came into this new place to check it out and was shocked to see how nice it was. They even have a nice little museum for the late Helio Gracie. It appears that Rorions kids now run the school. All very polite and nice and very sanitary as well. But I still miss the old school and the old days.

Met the guys at NKA a few years ago during a GST training session and vowed someday if life ever calmed down Id comeback. I hadnt trained in a few years and when I finally showed back up I felt the warmest welcome, I shouldnt have waited so long. Good people and a great criculum!

Not only Jui Jitsu heaven, LIFE HEAVEN!The instruction is incredible. Led by Rorion, Ryron and Rener, all of the instructors (including Alex, Sam, Alex, and others) break down complex movements into small slices, analyzing every detail and angle of movement. They communicate patiently and in such a way that all levels of experience can benefit ranging from new white belts all the way up to highly advanced black belts. The environment and philosophy is warm and playful (gentle) yet so real (martial) at the same time. They really know what they are doing physically and mentally at all times.The facilities are unparalleled. Beautiful lounge and welcome area. Plenty of clean towels, hot showers, and beautiful locker rooms. The walls are lined with magazine covers, articles, and posters from early days of UFC, Jui Jitsu, and other martial arts magazines. The green room is huge and there carpeted bench seating for guests and visitors.Like any organizations, the leaders set the tone and in this case they absolutely nailed it. The Gracie Jui Jitsu acadamy in Torrance is the one and only place to go if you want the best experience, training, and life journey.

Sadly, I can attest that my son attended the Gracie academy to prevent being bullied for over 6 years. In the end, he was bullied by 3 of his co classmates at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA. When this was bought to the academies attention, namely Rener Gracie and Brian Ortega, they opted to side with the other 3 students and branded my son a liability and a bully, after one of the three students mothers threatened the academy in person. These same three boys bullied my son at his educational school for several months, to the point where my son defended himself against these three aggressors. The school ruled my sons actions self defense and he was not suspended (though there is a no fault policy in place).This triggered the a fore mentioned threatening mothers actions at the academy. The Gracies, as a result of this, labeled my son a bully and sided with the threatening mother.They did this without talking to the school, the other students involved or myself.When I tried to defend my son and enlighten Rener regarding the facts of which he neither sought out or was aware of, he was completely jaded and unwilling to listen.Though he did talk a lot about what the mother that came in had told him. Irritated and unwilling to talk further, he then informed me I have wasted enough time on this already, and I could have made $700 in privates already. Does this sound like a person who truly cares about children?Having attended for 6 plus years and being a loyal patron, I could not believe what I was hearing. I did not allow Seth to return. I do not wish for him to be instructed by people who lack integrity, real morality or common sense, when that is exactly why they were sought in the first place.I do not recommend any business establishment that places a premium on their bottom line and steps on top of people to get where they are going. If integrity and honor are what you seek, there are many alternatives to this establishment, which are more professional and truly care about the children that they are instructing. I do not recommend this establishment especial for children. You may find yourself in a similar situation to mine and discover that 6+ years of loyalty counts for nothing. Avoid fake people who will not support you or your children in defending themselves against bullies.When the real fight began and Seth used what he was taught and stood up for himself, he did the right thing and he did it right...3 against one and ruled self defense by the school principal. Im at a CTC and I love it. The Head quarters in Torrance is amazing. Staff friendly and the place just blows your mind. Great place. They have the Jiu Jitsu down to a science. I wished I lived in Torrance but Im so happy to be at a CTC and I know Im learning what they are teaching at Torrance.The only bad thing I see is that there are so many Students now and they need more instructors at Torrance. Sometimes you can roll for 1 hr and maybe they pass by once. I rather be at a smaller class. Hopefully they will have more instructors one day to fill that gap. Gracie Combative is a great CD collection. Best on the market.I wish they would do like a raffle once a month and who ever number gets picked get a 1 on 1 for free for 30 min or 1 hr with both Rener and Ryron. They could just apply to white belts or what color they choose to pick. Sometimes people quit because they feel like they are just a number in the class and no one cares if they come or not. I bet if they got picked I bet they be the happiest people.

Rener, Ralek, Ryron are all gifted individuals. Smart and know what theyre doing. Dont pay to learn anywhere else. If you want to truly learn from the best, put your money into Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Invest in yourself!

Best place to train in the world, no question.

I recently visited the Gracie Academy for a free womans self defense seminar. The instruction was clear and the environment was non threatening to someone looking to try jiu jitsu. I live in San Diego and train elsewhere as a blue belt but their instruction, professionalism, and programs are amazing. My two sisters dont train jiu jitsu but the program made them interested. I love jiu jitsu but for many people especially women its not comfortable or inviting to train with men or more experienced people. I love their programs and wish I lived closer.
