I went to Hillside for the first time for my 2014 BMW service appointment. My warranty expired so I decided to try this convenient repair shop in my neighborhood. Though the dealer recommended changing the brake fluid and air filter Sam said I wouldnt need to for another 5,000 miles. Instead I got an oil change only which was less expensive. The coupon I received in the mail made it even less. They didnt try to price gouge me. Their honesty paid off because Ill start coming here in the future.

Loved this place! Took longer than expected to complete the job but things like pictures online of what they found wrong and a car wash prior to pickup instill confidence that the job was completed by professionals. Great job team!!!

Sam was so thoughtful and worked with me until we were both comfortable and really made a huge difference driving my Ford escape hybrid now. He and his team were so helpful, kind, patient and considers every customer with time and patience until as a customer felt cared for. I liked their professional approach from my first call, through the repair till I picked up my vehicle. They send out a detailed report via email with a description of what they initially were tasked to do based on my instructions, a list of things they checked and a recommendation of other things that may need attention. I like the frequent communication that put me at ease.

For many years, I have known this place to be highly rated. Yesterday, I had Hillside put on four new tires on my Mercedes. I was given excellent service and Sam was even willing to call my son-in-law (who owns a not-so-near repair shop) and discuss thedetails with him.On two occasions in the past, I have stopped by Hillside and requested advice or minor service—no charge. These guys really want to please.I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday, so Sam gave me a rain-check card for the customary car wash. By the way, Sam loved the Meyer’s bakery cookies I took him last week. This is a good, competent, friendly, neighborhood place to take your car.

My 2005 Toyota Prius needed to change the main cell battery .so I was looking for Hybrid specialist with excellent reviews. then I found this guys . I was surprised while they’re swapping old battery to rebuild hybrid battery they let me use the rent a car for one week free plus gave me $100 discount!!There services were 5 stars !! best Hybrid shop in town !!! I’m highly recommend to all my friends and anybody . I will trust this guys as long as I live in Torrance city .

Our Prius was having trouble starting so they were able to replace the 12V battery the next day, and a few days later I brought in my Rav for a service. They were great with both vehicles, professional, timely, and went above and beyond to provide exceptional service, including getting me a ride home from the shop. After calling three other repair shops in the L.A. area about my broken air conditioning on my Toyota Prius, Hillside was the only one that said they were able to help me because of the year my car was manufactured. No other shops specialized in hybrid cars. They were very courteous over the phone, I never felt rushed or pressured and it felt more like talking to an old friend who genuinely cared about helping me. I was able to schedule an appointment the very next day. When I arrived I was met with outstanding customer service. Sam was my guy and he took care of me like - hed known me since I was a kid. They were able to diagnose my car for the ac, gave me a free multi-point inspection and gave me a thorough breakdown on all the costs. I even got a free car wash. I couldnt have asked for more. They were very knowledgeable in hybrid cars and I highly recommend anyone to take their vehicles there if they want it in trusted hands.This is a long overdue review for a very well deserved repair shop and I apologize it took me so long to write this. They use bait and switch tactics to get you in the door, then nickel and dime you once you are there. Finally they “forgot” to wash my car which was to be included in the service.When you work during the day, you can’t spend hours checking on last minute price changes or waiting for them to do things they should have before you arrived.If you want a place that shoots straight and is trustworthy - go someplace else.

I took it in for a warning light and they were honest about their capabilities and did not charge to diagnose. It turned out to be an electrical issue and they were able to refer me to another company which turned out good. I even got a car wash. Nice bonus.

I have had good experiences when dealing with Hillside Auto Repair. Each time I have taken my vehicles there the folks there have been honest with their assessment and recommendations. They make you feel comfortable and take the time to explain things to you. One of my vehicles had to be towed to their location and they contacted me the following day with what happen and what need to be done. The prices are reasonable as well. They make you feel like part of an extended family member. All I can say is give them a chance and you can decide for yourself.

The techs and staff at Hillside are great. They are always courteous and will take the time to explain things and answer questions. They provide pictures of the items inspected to view before you have to agree if it needs replaced. They always try to accommodate and help save money where possible. I had been at another shop for several years that sold to Hillside. The change has been seamless.

Everyone was very helpful and answered all my questions. They were very knowledgeable. Instead of having to sit and wait for my car, I was given a ride to where I wanted to go next. I got my hair cut and did a little shopping, plus I had lunch. Then I was picked up and took care of my bill while they washed my car. A short time later my car was ready to go and I had more than enough time to make it to my next appointment. I even had plenty of time to stop at the library to pick up a book. It was a great day and I got a lot done. Thank you.

Went to Hillside Auto for a second opinion after seeing the long list of things the Toyota Dealership gave us, along with a big estimate. Hillside fully inspected my Sequoia and gave me photos of what they found wrong with my car. Half of what Toyota said we had to replace they found nothing wrong with it. The things that we did need to fix were much cheaper at Hillside. Customer service is top notch and they are extremely good at communicating to the customer. A bonus is they pay for your Uber both ways when you drop off and pick up your car!

I cannot say enough. Sam was so helpful. We were in an urgent last minute situation. We were in San Pedro to leave on a cruise the next morning About 1:30 pm on a Friday afternoon the back window mechanism broke and my window slide all the way down. I called and spoke with Sam. He had me come right over. Got the part and fixed it that afternoon. Above and beyond though so we didn’t have to sit around for 4 hours he took care of the Uber to take us back to our hotel and then bring us back when the car was done. We we so grateful for their quick service and understanding. If you ever need auto repairs especially if you are in from out of town please go there. They will take care very good care of you. Id like to give a thank you shout out to Hillside Auto. They got me in first thing in the morning for a diagnostic check when I experienced a major fail on my Lexus RX450h. Since I had to work that day, they ordered a Lyft to take me to Enterprise car rental. Later that day they called to let me know their tests proved inconclusive, but that Lexus had access to more detailed diagnostics. As a testament to their integrity, they did not even charge me for the tests that they ran. I eventually did bring the car to Lexus and even there, it took them two days to diagnose the problem. And an expensive one it was. I ultimately traded the car in for a new one. I so appreciate the honest service at Hillside. They could easily have charged me, not only for the diagnostics, but also for what would have amounted to a temporary fix. Instead, they deferred to dealer servicing and didnt charge a penny. I wholeheartedly endorse them for their honesty and integrity!

I bought a used 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan from a local Toyota dealership for a good price. Since it is a used car, I wanted to get it checked out by an automotive repair shop for an unbiased opinion on the current condition of the car. I took it to Dave Carneys Hillside Auto Repair because I trust Dave and his team to give me a truthful assessment of the car. They are a AAA-Approved auto repair shop and specifically offer a used-car inspection service with an extensive checklist of things they evaluate on the car. They went through the checklist and gave me a report on what they found. The cost of the service was $100, but it was absolutely worth it to get that evaluation. I was pleased and relieved to hear that the current condition was normal for the age and miles on the car, and there was no evidence of any hidden problems (Note: This is just my summary. Their report was more detailed with objective measurements of brake pads and other items.) I highly recommend Hillside Auto Repair as a place where you can get an honest assessment of the current condition of your car.

Hillside Auto is honest, efficient AND considerate when it comes to their customers’ needs. I’ve had so many experiences with OTHER SHOPS who “see me coming from a mile away and are ready to charge me for all kinds of things I don’t need.” This shop NEVER makes me feel that way. Had my alternator replaced last week and the service was great. They send you an email with a breakdown of the maintenance that includes pictures and explanations. They provide a AAA discount, allow you to pick up your car after hours at the gas station across the street until 11 pm, and even provide a free car wash. Their pricing was reasonable and theyve earned a new customer.

Are you kidding?! Free diagnosis? Who does that these days? Turns out my VW needed an electrical component only serviceable by the dealer. Those diagnostic machines they use to read the codes aren’t free. Still, they charged me $0.00. And they washed the car! It was not like I had been a long term customer; it was my first time. Certainly not last.

I made an appointment and waited for my oil change. They even rotated my tires. They alerted me on my phone. The service was quick and friendly. This is the second time I had service at Hillside and I am very happy.
