A special thanks to Jennifer and Sookie! We broke down while on vacation in Seaside Heights. We arrived Thursday evening (in the morning our Tahoe just decided not to start). We called our roadside and had the battery checked, etc. all was good. We needed a mechanic. Not familiar with any we went to Google. Called a few but they couldn’t fit us in. Then we called Pro-Cat. Sookie answered. She didn’t make any promises but said if it was not a major situation like a motor (I guess) she could probably have it to us by Monday afternoon when we needed to leave. We called our roadside and had it towed over by Friday afternoon. From there I dealt with Jennifer, also honest and professional, she explained everything to us on Friday. It was the starter! They would have one in Saturday morning. It was a little pricey cause they needed to do a diagnostic, but business is business! We were so grateful as they had the car ready to go by Saturday afternoon, which unloaded a lot of stress and we were more able to enjoy the rest of our days there! Im leaving for Florida & need to have my oil change, fluids checked, tires rotated & what not, Pro-Cat went above and beyond to accommodate me and everything I needed, they check my tires, rotated them as well as changed my battery and at a very good price. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends that are still in the area and even when and if I come back. I would definitely use them again.

I recently took a new used car for a diagnostic test before finalizing the purchase. Will gave me a honest straightforward assessment of the vehicle. Needless to say, I did not go forward with the purchase.I trust their expertise and recommendations because in 2016, after three other auto repair centers told me that my 06 Ford Explorer was not worth putting money into, ProCat said otherwise. Six years later and I still have my Ford! Will, Suk Hee, Jennifer and the ProCat team have been taking care of both my vehicles since then and I wouldnt drive an hour away for mediocre service.If you want a repair center that takes pride in their work, I recommend ProCat.

Took my car in for front brakes and the head mechanic saved me from tickets I could of got I had a right head light low beam out and both my license plate lights mind you non of my friends even told me these were out lmao, but they did an inspection before doing my brakes and found those issues thankful for that . Did my front brakes in a timely manor. Everyone was super cool lol f you are looking to get an honest inspection and the work done right go here. Mind you I am a mechanic in another Field so I know my way around things just didn’t have time to do it myself . AAA work and costumer service. 100% would recommend to friends and family .

Said they fixed my friends car, didn’t fix a single thing, charged him $80 for him to go home just to find the problem himself.. fine maybe a mistake so we took it back to see if they could fix the problem and deduct the $80 from the price they wanted to charge to fix it.. Quoted an outrageous price to fix it then legit yelled and screamed at my friend cursing and being a lunatic to the point it was hilarious and then only gave him half the money back for doing literally nothing lol stay so far away from this psychotic place

Had a coolant leak and over $1200.00 later they said it was the water pump and they fixed the problem. The next day, light came on same exact issue, coolant leak . Called them and they said we stand by our work, we will fix it no charge. Well long and behold, they are claiming it’s a different coolant issue and want to charge almost $400.00 to fix it again.Horrible service and didn’t care that they didn’t fix it the first time and obviously doesn’t stand by their work. It’s pretty sad how they don’t know how to fix the issue, just don’t care and just want money .

I called and made an appointment for an oil change and inspection of humming noise left front end. I drop the truck off at the scheduled time only to be called back an hour later saying they wouldnt be able to get to my truck Why not tell me this when I drop it off? The whole point of making an appointment is to drop the vehicle off to get serviced. Dont tell me an hour later after Ive driven there and dropped off my vehicle.

I called the office to get a quick quote on brake pads and rotors for the front of my truck. They would not quote me and insisted I needed to make an appointment to bring the truck in first. Like most people I am price shopping and will base my decision on a few factors but price is one of them. People don’t have time to bring it in and have it looked at just to get a quote they may not like and miss the opportunity to bring it somewhere else. It’s 2020 this policy should not be in place. I am new to Toms River just buying my house a few months ago. I enjoy giving back to small business and with a 20 year old truck and not much time on my hands to fix it I could have been a regular customer. Now against my instinct I will have to go to a franchise that I called down the road who did give me a quote on the phone. This is not an engine overhaul it’s a break job.

Complete evaluation of vehicle prior to service. Engine light cat convert problem. Resolved repaired same passed inspection. Car runs well am very satisfied. Will be back for timing belt repair. Very unprofessional. I brought my car in to get a rattling noise checked out. They charged me $80 to fix it and when I drove home the noise was still there. I checked put the issue on my own and found out it was a broken strut. I went back to get a quote on one and they said it would be $450 for one strut which is extremely overpriced so I politely asked for a refund for my $80 for the Mis diagnostic. The owner Steve came in and started yelling and cursing at me. Very embarrassing especially with other customers in the store. I’ve been in retail for many years and never once experienced anything like this.

I have been going to PRO-CAT for years. From the time that I moved to Toms River, NJ in 2015 to now they have been nothing but professional, honest, and frankly the best. Theyve serviced three vehicles for me that were American and German. I trusted them for any job that my vehicles required. Ive referred them to friends and family who have continued to use their services again and again. Where they are the best they charge a fair price for their knowledge and quality service. I never found them to be too expensive for the job. Starting with Jennifer at the desk, I had a great experience. I was in a bind. As I was getting all 4 tires force balanced, one of my tires were defective. They called me and I got a hold of where I got the tire from, and thats all I had to do. I thought Id have to go through the gauntlet to get this worked out, but to my surprise pro- cat recieved a call from the tire place and handled everything for me hassle free and also in a quick amount of time. I am so disappointed in this place. Years ago I used to come here all the time and I really enjoyed their service. I moved away for a couple of years and recently returned to Toms River and started having my car serviced by this place again. I noticed the change right away. For one thing I needed one light bulb replaced on my car and they wanted to charge me almost $200 to have that light bulb changed. I did it myself buying two light bulbs for $60. I know that labor cost some money but are you serious? My biggest complaint though and the reason why I will never step through this door again is my brakes. I went there a couple of months ago and told them there was something wrong with my brakes, they had been squeaking so much and I was truly concerned about them. They told me that they couldnt replicate the sound and that my brakes looked perfect. So I recently went to a newer mechanic someone that I had heard good things about. They took Ill look at my brakes and not only could they replicate the sound because it was so deafening that there was no way you could miss it but they also discovered that my front brakes were broken. The reason why they looked perfect because they were not being used and my car was only stopping because my rear brakes were working. What an unbelievably dangerous situation to put me in. If this place is truly a professional auto repair center you think they would be able to figure this. Needless to say I will never return. My suggestion to management is to get it together. Having my brakes being broken and missed could have potentially killed me or somebody else.

I brought my car in for a daytime running light issue. I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff, the modern technical conveniences used by the shop (sending text links to view the diagnostics report) and quick service. The labor rates are expensive, however Pro-Cat is very judicious with the amount of time required for repairs in order to keep costs in line with expectations. Further Pro-Cat guarantees their work.

Ive been bringing my work trucks between here and the dealership. Lately my Ram Promaster has had a lot of issues and its still under warranty so I brought it to the dealership after the engine blew at 65k miles. They replaced the engine but told me a week later when the check engine light came back on that my catalytic converter was now bad and that wasnt covered. I spoke to Will at Pro Cat about this and he told me exactly what to say to them and it worked. A week later I had my truck back and wasnt charge anything. Will could of easily charged me a little less to fix it and I would of went with him because I trusted him but after seeing he wasnt just trying to make a quick buck I think I found my permanent auto repair place and mechanic. My tow was one hour late, my car was there for 3 days! The first day I called three times and they kept saying my car was in “diagnostic.” As far as I know the “diagnostic” process takes about ten minutes since they hook your car up to a computer to find the problem. So I am convinced I was lied to for the first entire day my car was there; it was not even looked at! The next day I called twice and I was told my car started and they couldn’t find a problem. Then I received a call that it probably didn’t start because I needed a new filter and the fuel system needed to be cleaned. It wouldn’t be ready until tomorrow... more that two days later I have to call yet again to check on the status of my car, “I believe they are cleaning the fuel pump, I’ll call you when it’s done.” ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Worst service I have ever received! DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CAR TO BE SERVICED BY THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!! I’m out $383 in additional to renting a car for 4 days.

Broke down on a Saturday just a short time before they closed. Luckily it happened 50 feet from their place. They helped me out immediately and seemed like knowledgeable and good people. Id go there again but hopefully not any time soon!

I never leave reviews. But for this place its needed. Its been a week since pro-cat auto has repaired my car. My 2011 jeep compass was in bad shape. Dashboard lit up with several lights, and my struts needed changing. They sat down and explained thoroughly what needed to be done no B.S. straight to the point and honest family owned business. I wish I had something like this in my neighborhood. My battery died twice in a row and I asked for the battery replacement. Instead they ran a couple of tests and convinced me that my battery is fine. Did not charge me a dime. The owner, Steve, restored my faith in humanity. Highly recommend.

Second visit, as impressive as the first. Mechanics really know their stuff. Do not perform services that arent needed. Family run shop that take pride in what they are doing. On my latest visit, I hade my breaks done... now stops like the day I bought it. They also diagnosed and repaired a shimmy I was feeling at high speeds. Took the time to explain what was causing it and how they fixed it. Much better alternative than dealers.

Called to make an appt for an alignment and one tire patch the lady said I would be fine just bringing it in at 11 to have it done. But after going all the way there they tell me that it would probably be a few hours because they couldnt get to it till after lunch. Would have been nice to know that over the phone before wasting my time.

The Wuesthoff family took very good care of me & my car. I felt that they were honest about what my 2005 car needed. I went for catalytic converter trouble, after having wrong one installed elsewhere. Their care in explaining problem, instilled confidence as well. I will return for future routine car care as well as major repairs if needed. Also their waiting area is spacious, clean & comfortable, complete with TV and coffee!

O Stars, Worked on my truck for 8 months and paid over 4,500 to correct the truck from smoking and required new batteries. They told me I needed a new starter and all new fuel injectors when both the injectors and starter were replaced two years prior along with a new Fuel injection pump. After the starter was replaced it turns out I just needed new batteries. The truck still smokes and new problems include diesel leaking into the oil which never happened before, fuel gauge not working, and now can only use one of the two fuel tanks. The owners son Will refuses to fix it and Im out of pocket $4,500. A total waste of time and money!

Very good place they took care of my acura 2 times ..repaired it for a good price right away...as soon as they got the parts they were on the phone with me to pick it up... They will get all my work for now on and I recommend them to all my friends and family

Called them up to request work. I told them my vehicle was not running. They want u to have it towed there, so they can look at it first. I told them I want an new engine. They did not care. I had to have it towed there first. I tried to explained and William hung up on me.Sure, have it towed there and then they price the job at whatever they want... and if is too high or they say they cant do the work...you pay or have it towed home again for another $200. Really? Do not go to this place.

Will explained in detail the issue I was having with my Model 3 Tesla wheels off balance and what would be done to resolve. Did a great job and my ride is smooth and enjoyable again.

I had a terrible and expensive experience at Pro-Cat Toms River. I brought my BMW in for an inspection. An hour later, when I picked it up, the key kept popping out of the ignition. The owner, Ed, said that this was just a coincidence and took no responsibility for the problem. BMW service had a different story. They said that the key had been forcibly removed from the ignition while the car was in gear, and the key holder was broken. It cost me $293 to replace the key holder. Pro-Cat has not reimbursed me. Id hoped that they would do the honorable and professional thing, but evidently their ethics are as bad as their inspection service.

Family run business...good place for car repairs and service

I Was in desperate need of an oil change. I Went up and down 37 and no one would take me without leaving my car there for the day maybe two. I saw the sign! PRO-CAT took me right away and had me outta there in 30 mins. I really could have hungout there the whole day that’s how cool these guys are. Come to find out I was talking to the owner. Real nice guy. “Side note” (Thank you for your military service). Can’t say enough about their top mechanic. Being an engineer I watched him for 2 mins and knew the kind of service I was getting. Top-shelf. No worries driving back to New York and back again during the week. Thanks guys. You’ll be seeing me again and anyone who’s in need of great service I’ll be sending your way.

I brought in my vehicle 3 months ago for an oil change and wheel alignment. From the moment I got into my car after repair, I noticed the alignment was still off. The oil change I requested was 4 quarts of Synthetic oil. However as the weeks went by, I started to wonder if they had really used synthetic. I decided to do my own oil change today, and only TWO QUARTS OF OIL CAME OUT! I dont know if they used synthetic or not, BUT THEY ONLY USED TWO QUARTS OF OIL WHEN MY CAR CALLED FOR FOUR. Steve Westhuoff is a smooth talking scam artist, that will say anything to divert your attention away from any complaints you may have. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. I urge anyone who gets an oil change here, to check the level of your oil after letting the car sit.

This family owned business goes above and beyond for their customers! We were visiting the Jersey Shore for our family vacation. I wanted to show my husband and family where I grew up! 500 miles from home, our power steering goes out the night before we were supposed to drive back to Ohio. My husband asked around and we were referred by word of mouth to PRO-CAT and now we know why. They took our truck in at 8 a.m. on a Friday morning and Will promised to get us home. He was amazing and when our truck proved to be the ultimate pain in the butt..he and his dad Steve worked tirelessly through the weekend for us..only because they gave us their word when they didnt have to. Steve came and picked us up at our hotel on that Sunday!! To save us uber fare. Will explained everything to us in laymens terms and got us back on the road with one of the fairest prices we have ever seen!!( not fair to them actually) My family was absolutely stranded..while we were figuring out what to do without a vehicle and where to stay 500 miles from home with 2 kids and a limited budget..PROCAT was literally saving our behinds. We will forever be indebted to them for their kindness. The integrity they have doesnt exist in todays world..it was so nice to be reminded that sometimes..you get a break. They did that for us and I cannot say thank you enough. We are so grateful. Will even texted and called to make sure we were ok on our roadtrip!! Who does that?? They do! I have been going to this shop for just shy of 2 years. I can not speak highly enough of this place, they are very nice people and always fit me in with my crazy scheduling needs. Will is normally who I speak to however everyone else there who I have ever delt with has been very nice, takes the time to explain things to me and goes above and beyond with their customer service. They do not try to upsell things that I don’t need and when a vehicle is in need of service they explain what is urgent and what isn’t. ( ex. An air filter being ok to wait until my next oil change). On multiple occasions I have brought them vehicles thinking that there was something catastrophicly wrong and panicking only to have them call me to let me know it’s a simple fix. The best example of this I can think of is the time I had my 2006 Corolla towed to them with a terrible banging sound coming from the fuel tank which myself and several other people thought was the fuel pump. Scared that it was going to cost me almost $1,000 I dropped it off and asked them to call me with the price of a fuel pump, the next morning I got a call that it was just a loose heat shield under my gas tank and it would be pretty cheap to fix. ( it ended up being well under $100). They could have taken adavantage of me ( like some other shops would have) however each time they were honest with me. The work they do is top notch and I have never had any issues with any work they have done, and I would recommend this shop to anyone. I just left the shop today a happy customer as they were able to diagnose and repair what I thought was going to be a costly noise concern on my moms 2012 Kia Soul in one day. I also like how they use OEM fluids on vehicles that require them, when my Toyota was due to have its transmission fluid changed I called a few places to get prices and also to ask what type of fluid they use. Most answered they used some type of one size fits all transmission fluid however pro cat uses OEM and by the way had the best price as well. I have learned my lesson, don’t bother with any other places and just take your car here to begin with.

Good service. I had an exhaust leak in my Volvo and they repaired it for half of what a dealer quoted. Service is prompt but this may be delayed by the availability of parts for your particular car.

They are horrible. They were going to overcharge me. They are not knowledgeable about car service. They told me they were going to buy a part just in case. I thought they were mechanics how do you not know what was wrong. Even myself with very little car knowledge knew that if there is rust on the front wheel hubs that does not affect the bearing. If under the hub is rusted thats the problem. I also have no idea how they told me all four bearings were in need of repair. I dont think they even looked. I brought my car to my regular mechanics and they informed me that my right control arm was already replaced. (Procat were suggesting i get both front ones done.} they quoted me around 800$ even more with the extra part they might need. They told me all of this when my car was in there shop FOR THREE DAYS! ALL THE DID WAS TAKE MY WHEEL OFF, TELL ME THE WRONG INFORMATION, AND TRY TO OVERCHARGE ME CAUSE IM A FEMALE. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. i dont know how they got their star rating.

Very wary of a shop that runs help wanted ads 365 days a year. Spoke with the son who now runs the business and seems his ego is larger than their building, so I guess thats why they are in constant need of mechanics. Ive heard nothing but good things about the parents (Steve & Sukee) but sad to hear nothing but negative since the son is running operations. Wish them luck, theyll need it.

Not recommend anyone to go this place, the lady answered the phone she is super rude, she told me there not had truck repair,but i check online and says they are truck repair place, I question her as online thought differently, and she answered super, super rude, what truck do you have? I came in with a question about a part that came off from under my Toyota Sienna and Steve helped me right away by checking it and explained what the part was for. Fortunately it didnt need any repairs so I was quickly on my way. If the car needs a real repair, I will surely go here again.

Ive had plenty of work done there on our family cars and they have good service and a very spacious waiting area for those who are waiting. They have WiFi, TV and plenty of magazines.

I was going to visit my in-laws with the family on Xmas Eve and as soon as I got off the parkway, I lost my power steering and lights came on the dashboard. Being from north jersey, my wife and I began frantically calling every service station in the area only to find out the technicians had left for the day. We stumbled upon PROCAT and they said they would stay to look at my vehicle until I arrived. After barely making it to PROCAT, I was greeted by Will who immediately found my harmonic balancer laying in the bottom of the engine bay with broken belts. While my expectation was not to have the vehicle serviced that day since parts were required, I was assured that they would do their best to obtain the parts and return the vehicle to me as soon as possible (which was 12/26 at this point due to the holiday). Will called me about 9am on 12/26 to inform me that the parts were en route, but the vehicle not be available until the end of the day. He also mentioned that they looked over the vehicle thoroughly and informed me that some other parts that were in need of replacement. After giving him the go ahead to replace the other parts, I received a phone call later in the day stating the vehicle was ready.Not only did PROCAT go the extra mile servicing my vehicle, their honesty and professionalism is refreshing in this day and age. If I lived closer, I would definitely go back for routine maintenance. I highly recommend PROCAT to anyone in the Toms River area or anyone in a situation like mine. One of the worst auto repair shops around, the owner has a nasty attitude, the only reason why you see good reviews is because he asks people to display a good review on Google, other than that he takes advantage of the elderly, he claims he has a state of the art diagnostic system that takes pictures and shows you whats wrong with the car and charges you for it when its really one of the techs working on it taking a picture with a camera phone do not use this company

A little high priced but worth it

Went to Hyundai for service of a low tire pressure light. They said it would take an hour and a half. I came here instead, and it took 20 minutes to resolve.
