Im so grateful to have found a wonderful womens fitness center here in Tampa. The atmosphere is positive and very welcoming. The owner Lynn is fabulous and she paired me up with an amazing trainer named Denise. The 4 Weeks to a Better You Program taught me essential workout skills to help build strength and achieve healthy weight loss goals. Denise was great to work with and she paid close attention to my posture and provided knowledgeable feedback. I highly recommend this place!
I found Wise Woman Fitness when I searched the internet looking for best gym for women over 60. I had just asked my husband to move out and was in a bad place emotionally. Just retired from a desk job for 35 years. Lynn matched me up with the most wonderful trainer, Tatiana. They both have made me a stronger person both physically and mentally.First thing, I was forced to leave my house. That was my first step in getting healthy. There isn’t enough room to say everything this gym has done for me. Both Lynn and Tatiana have been there for me over the past year while dealing with my Separation from my husband. This is the best place ever!! Let me tell you a little history of myself. I’m a cancer survivor, kidney transplant patient, had 3 hip replacements done on left side and one on right side and spinal tumor surgery. Unfortunately the spinal surgery did not go well and some nerves were cut. This left me with no feeling in my right leg. I walked with a walker for years going to physical therapy(several different therapy groups) with no improvement, this is over a 14 year time period. I was walking hunched over, physically weak and unable to do much of anything. Then I found Wise Women and Lynn. She set me up with a great trainer, Melissa. I was scared to try anything because I would fall a lot, but I finally started getting stronger and there came the confidence!! Long story short I can now walk with a cane, do normal everyday things and the feeling is gradually returning to my leg. I’ve got muscles and strength I never thought I would ever have again. Wise Women is a God send in my life.

I have known Wise Women Fitness’s owner, Lynn Valaes, for almost 25 years. She was in the legal field but always talked about exercising and opening her own business. For someone who has NEVER felt comfortable in a gym, finding Wise Women Fitness has been the best thing to happen to me in a while! After working with Lynn for just four weeks, I am amazed in the changes I am seeing in my body, and MORE importantly, the changes I can FEEL! Having a few different injuries, Lynn takes special care in designing my workouts so that they accommodate my limitations, while still allowing me to build the strength I need to overcome them . Ive been at Wise Women Fitness for a little over a year now, and I can honestly say its still the best choice I made when I moved to the South Tampa area. Lynn, the owner, made me feel so comfortable and at home right from the start--she really listens and makes you feel like a priority. I signed up for the thirty day program, and can not say enough about the experience. Lynn brought me in for an initial meeting, and really took the time to get to know me personally, not just do a superficial assessment of my “over fifty” slump. They look at overall health including a session with a wonderful nutritionist. She then paired me with Melissa for the one in one workout sessions, which in a month resulted in true improvements with weight loss and energy improvements. More importantly, physically and mentally, I am now positioned to move forward in better health - mind and body both. And I have made new friends! This is a jewel of a place.
I have attended classes at Wise Women several times and have really enjoyed them. The studio is very warm and comfortable. She was very good about working with me, paying close attention so I didnt aggravate my previous injuries. Everything we did worked great for me. I will return whenever I am in town.

I have been working out at Wise Women Fitness for the last nine months and its great. I had hip replacement surgery last year and the follow up physical therapy was not doing much. I still have a leg length discrepancy and degenerative disc issues. Working out at WWF has been a life saver. Lynn and the trainers really understand womans bodies and how they change over the years. Most importantly, we work on my balance, range of motion and coordination issues. The strength training has increased my energy level and I even have a well-defined butt for the first time !!! I met Lynn through a networking event, and am confident to say that she is one of the most knowledgeable trainers I know; form, function and technique, and Lynn has done everything to can to promote a healthy environment for her clients. My experience with Annalise has been wonderful! She is knowledgeable, regardless of your age! I’m 68 and had 15 years of 6 days a week step class, knee problems and a rotator cuff problem. Annalise is very careful to tell me how to still do the exercise, without further injuring my shoulder or my knee, in fact, she has strengthened both areas, by her expertise. Her stretching exercises and core work, has elongated my legs and back and I feel years younger again. As a person with injuries, it is difficult for me to workout. I have had neck, back and hip trouble for years, so finding exercises that my body can handle is challenging. This all changed when I met Lynn with Wise Women Fitness! She is incredibly knowledgeable and patient and really spent the time teaching me. If one exercise bothered my neck or back, she showed me a couple of different variations that I could do pain-free. The whole vibe of her place is very warm and welcoming - its a no judgement zone. I found Lynn when i was looking for a personal trainer to help me get back into shape after having my baby. I tried a few PTs and they all seemed to deliver a cookie cutter solution -- the training did not feel like it was tailored to my specific needs and limitations.... Once i started training with Lynn, i immediately felt the difference not only in terms of the quality of the workouts but in terms of the results....I was sooo happy with the progress made that we continue to have PT sessions via video calls now that i moved to Istanbul Turkey... And my mom was so impressed with my results that she is also now working out with Lynn. In her case its made a world of difference after 4 back surgeries...Lynn is a God sent!

When I went for my free consultation with Lynn at Wise Woman Fitness personal training in late August, I was the least physically fit I’ve ever been due to previous, separate, injuries to my shoulder and knee, coupled with years of no meaningful, regular, exercise which had lead to a 50 lb. weight-gain. I went for the consultation because I knew I needed help and Wise Woman Fitness was conveniently located and offered a private studio and a focus on women’s fitness. But, I signed-up for a six-month commitment after meeting with Lynn, because through our conversation I was confident she would push and challenge me to be my best – to increase my strength, muscle tone, improve my body shape, and my overall health and fitness. I didn’t want to be babied – and, she promised me she wouldn’t, but that she would start by creating a foundation to build my strength and fitness and to ensure continued success.I have been working out with Lynn three times per week for three months, and Lynn is responsible for huge changes in my strength and fitness. Lynn is highly motivating and focuses every minute on my workout which she tailors just for me. First, I am seeing reductions in my size and great increases in my strength, balance, and confidence. When I started with Lynn I was recovering from a torn rotator cuff tendon (supraspinatus), and was truly afraid to use my shoulder even after following weeks of doctor prescribed physical therapy. During this time, Lynn has built my strength and confidence in the most unbelievable way. With Lynn’s knowledge, experience, and encouragement, she has pushed me to challenge myself. When I began I could not hold myself up on my hands and knees. Now, I am doing push-ups, yoga downward dogs and other yoga moves requiring that I lift and hold my body-weight using my shoulders. I believe I would have never regained the strength and use of my shoulder if I had not started working out with Lynn when I did – this has been truly life changing! A trainer with Lynn’s knowledge and commitment is exceptional!Lynn has been great about first focusing on the fundamentals - mobility, balance, and core, which she continues to incorporate into each session. This created, and continues to create, a great foundation to increase the difficulty and intensity of my workouts. Lynn has now increased my sessions to very rigorous, higher intensity workouts for me, but always makes sure my form and fundamentals are solid during every drill. Four months ago I began working out with Lynn Valaes. I truly believe that this has been the best thing that I have done for myself in a very long time. I have arthritis and degenerative disk disease and have been in almost constant pain from these conditions. I have been amazed by the strength that I have gained with these workouts and the reduction in pain that I have experienced along with losing pounds and inches. Talpha is a fantastic trainer and ensures I get a great workout every session despite a recent knee injury.
