Ive been using Abel for 5+ years now, and have never found a barber so consistent and dedicated to his work more than this guy. Great at giving a consistent cut, but will also cater to changes, if I feel like doing so. Interesting conversations, and always on time/ ready on schedule. Scheduling app makes it easy to book appointments, and can always fit you in within a couple days notice. 5 stars!

I know everybody says that about everything, so hear me out.I’ve been getting cuts from Abel since 2017 when he was in Ybor. I used to hate haircuts, just took the Wahl clippers to it and called it a day. Most haircuts I got hardly looked better. But Abel is outstanding, properly trained, and he listens and dials it in with you, so you always feel good paying for a cut.It isn’t just the quality of the cut, though, but his generous spirit. I’m the pastor of two local Lutheran congregations, St Paul Lutheran and Faith Lutheran, and we have regular food pantries called Kinship Markets (in partnership with Jon Dengler of WellBuilt Bikes in the University Mall). I went online searching for the best barbers in Tampa after deciding to cut my hair after at least 8 months of growth. Went to BarrelHouse as a walk in and was treated like part of the fam instantly, drinks offered and conversations going. I was super unsure of what I wanted with my haircut so Abe walked me through and broke some stuff down for me until I decided. I left the shop with a very clean cut. Honest Abe woke up early when I called him and explained I was in town from California and had to get a cut before an event at 8:30 am. He woke up and came in early. Not only that, it was a cut tailored to exactly what I needed and he even cleaned up my beard and eye brows and gave a great cut. After that, he knew my Uber account was giving me issues and I was running late so he drove me himself to the event. That’s right, he left his work and took me himself. This is a fully devoted barber who goes above and beyond and has mastered his craft in hair and also customer service. I will be coming back next time I’m in town. I decided to take my husband and his BFF here based on their reviews, and I was not disappointed. It felt like we were just hanging out with friends. Abel & Shawn were a hilarious show I got to watch while the guys were pampered. I even got to play old school Super Mario Bros on the big screen while I waited. They offered us beers/drinks when we walked in, at no charge. I annoyed them with questions about how to help keep my husbands hair & beard nice at home, and they answered every single one, along with tips I never wouldve known.
