Professional, friendly and great prices. Had all my questions answered and April was super cool. I highly recommend Olsens and I certainly will go there for all future services and parts.
Olsons Air Cooled is an old school family owned business with decades of knowledge and experience along with an inventory that will blow your mind. 99% of anything you need is in stock for several years of VWs and what they dont have, April will order for you. They will not rip you off. You will be treated like family. Their repair shop is amazing.
Friendly people good price I had my windshield installed and the service was awesome and very good price I plan to do all of my bug repair and work done at Olsons
Great place with great people. You can tell they really love what they do. This is the only shop I will let touch my 73 beetle

Awesome friendly place especially if you love Volkswagons.
The service is great! I ran into a jam with my 72 VW Karmann Ghia, as a previous shop claimed they could repair, but their efforts proved COSTLY and futile! April, the co-owner is a sweetheart. She knows her stuff! Great service and good price$$. Highly recommend.
Olsens is an old school VW shop. A dying breed. They have very knowledgeable techs who can literally work on your VW blindfolded. Larry the owner and his lovely daughter April will help you with anything you need and 90% of the time will have what you need in stock. Make olsens your first call. I always do.
Best air-cooled VW shop on this side of the Mississippi River. Period. April and Larry are very helpful and do anything and everything they can to take care of everyone that walks through the door. Unlike a big dealership style shop, you really feel welcome and at home when you walk through Olsens shop. They are the best in the biz from service and maintenance all the way to ground up restorations. They are always willing to work with you and make sure you and your classic VW or Porsche is leave happy
Never been but it must be good almost all air cooled shops are awesome
Ghia runs as good as the day my dad bought it in 1973. Awesome repair work!
Olsens took great care of my 69 trike. I wouldnt go anywhere else. It was a mess when I brought it and they figured it all out. There is no other place thats better. Thanks Chadd
The owner, Larry Olson, has a wealth of knowledge and expertise on aircooled VWs and is always willing to take time to share it with his friends and customers.
Absolutely love April and the guys at Olsens! They work on my vehicle like it was their own, and are upfront and honest about issues and are not looking to just make a few bucks. They are like my bug family, and I wouldnt want it any other way! Thanks guys, you rock!
This is a shop/store dedicated to restore, fixing and parts sale for all types of Volkswagen. Larry and April are very knowledgeable, super friendly and really good with costumers. If you have a vintage bus or beetle this is the place you want to visit in Tampa I promise you won’t regretted.
Small family owned shop everyone is down to earth.
Went to Olsens today for a few things we couldnt find anywhere else locally. April and her dad Larry are the best!! Found what we need and more, prices were fantastic.
Went to Olsens for the first time this week to pick up a part for my 65 bug. First of all, the place looks like it would be a VW shop/parts store. It is a great old building built in the 20s. I met both Larry, the owner, & April his daughter. It is a family ran place. Larry and I started to briefly talk about our military lifes; it was a great conversation. It was like we served together, even though he is a Vietnam VET and I am an Afghanistan VET. The beauty of being veterans. We called each other Brother and Charlie Mike-d. Nice to know that there is another reliable VW spot in Tampa.
Really impressed with this place...trust worthy mechanics.

Larry and April and their staff do amazing work. My 79 Super Beetle runs better now than ever before and I have had for nearly 25 years!Thank you-Jamie
Heres the real deal for aircooled services! My 78 VW bus needed an adjustment before driving 250 miles home and these kind folks slipped me into their very busy day - preparing for their annual customer appreciation party weekend! - and had me back on the road in less than an hour. Ill be planning an overnight trip to Tampa the next time my bus needs expert TLC!
Great selection of parts for VWs. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Will return.
A wonderful family owned business that really cares about people. Very honest!
Great service! Very friendlyAnd prices are competitive.
By no means do I intend this to be a personal attack.I chose to take my bug to Olsen’s based on positive Google reviews. When I arrived on my scheduled appointment day, I was informed they were short a couple of mechanics and would not be able to work on my car. I was a little disappointed since I had been looking forward for several weeks to having my car repaired, but hey, things happen. I set another appointment for after the holidays...When I arrived for the second scheduled appointment, I shared with April a meticulously categorized repair list which I wrote. Sitting at her desk, we went over each item, she provided a ball-park price, and I was assured that I’d be contacted if an item could not be addressed, or if the agreed-to price would be exceeded. Great!I returned a week later, paid my $1,600+ tab and headed home. It was after driving a very short distance and inspecting the car that I began to realize many items were either not repaired, or were done so quite poorly.Examples: the nuts holding the seat belts in place were finger-tight (one actually fell off). Using the blinker while turning the steering wheel caused the horn to constantly blow. The dome and dashboard lights stopped working. The radio which they installed wiggled its way forward about ½” out of the dashboard. While driving, wind caused the driver’s side mirror to collapse toward the body of the car. The headliner (which was admittedly non-standard), again began to peel and sag at the corners. The vehicle leaked more than when I originally took it in. The hood latch, with which I had previously had no problems, would no longer engage. And, despite being assured by April over the phone that they would install my white wall inserts, Larry refused. Remember, I was assured that each of these items had been repaired.I took a couple of days to cool off, called April back to express my deep dissatisfaction. A follow-up appointment was scheduled to allow them to make things right. After several days I returned to collect my car—I noticed it had been nicely cleaned on the outside, including a tire shine—cool! The headliner was fixed to the best of their ability, but, due to missing rib slots, April informed me that was the best they could do. The leak was substantially reduced, although I still find nickel-sized drops (I’m told this is ‘normal’ for these cars), the horn was not repaired, instead, it was completely disconnected—I’m told this is because they didn’t have, or couldn’t find, the correct parts. After a bit of haggling a pro-rated refund for that part of the bill for grudgingly provided. Seat belt nuts were tightened, although, I later discovered one of the seat belts was actually installed backwards (which I fixed myself). The radio was secured, great! As for the hood latch, I was charged to fix what they had broken—comical. However, Larry did offer to eat the charge, however, I paid it—I don’t want to be accused to wanting something for nothing…Once again, I hopped in my Beetle and headed for home. No more than 10 minutes into my drive the vehicle died. Died! I coasted into a gas station and called Larry. He offered some rudimentary troubleshooting, and said he’d wait, even after hours, while I had the vehicle towed back to his shop. After giving it some thought, I decided three attempts was enough, and instead had it towed to another shop.Bottom line, it’s evident the Olsens have been around VWs for a long, long time. I’d like to believe there was a time when they did good work. If my experience is any indication, however, I suspect those days sadly are over. The shop appears to be disorganized, suffering from a lack of communication between the front desk and the people actually performing the work. And, the work that is performed is of extremely poor quality. Very poor quality.April & Larry, I made every attempt to accurately and truthfully represent my experience. If you feel I’ve misrepresented, or mischaracterized in any way, please feel free to correct the record. Regards.
This place has a lot of great cars.
Just had the pleasure of doing business with Larry and April at Olsens VW. They will be our go to people for all of my VW needs. Thanks again for having just what I needed.
