Super positive first-time experience! Our son is attending college just down the road from Mikes Garage, and had a significant safety issue with his car this morning. The tricky part was that hes flying home to New Hampshire today, and had a flight to catch this afternoon, so he was in a really tough spot. I needed to replace an EVAP Purge Valve on my 2016 Ford Fusion. The check engine light came on Saturday morning before business hours. As soon as I could I was checking the code and trying to get it in for repairs. I cant express the difficulty of trying to get this repair to even happen. All of the places I called or stopped in including Brandon Ford basically blew me off like it was not important to them at all to help me out. I wish I would have found Mikes Garage sooner on Saturday but instead I had to call in Monday Morning. I call around 8:30am and was greeted with great caring customer service. Liz was very informative and understanding. She asked me to bring it in around 1pm so I did. I show up to immediate attentive service from Liz and company and they were very accommodating. 3 hours later I am getting a call saying my car was ready to go. I had to pinch myself I couldnt believe it. OUTSTANDING outstanding outstanding!!! Mind you I tried to give Brandon Ford another chance as well as I called a few other shops. It is great to be taken care of like a real person instead of being treated as a number because they are to busy to care. Mikes Garage is top notch and I will not stop bragging about them! Thank You to all of you that were involved in my great experience today!

I came in because of a problem with my car vibrating loudly when I turned. I knew the car had a slew of other minor and some not so minor issues but they were able to quickly diagnose my problem. I got my wheel bearings replaced for a good price and they even got rid of a problem where a loose part was making a rattling noise when I drove the car. Ive been dealing with that for years and several other mechanics couldnt tell me what took Mike 30 minutes to figure out. The price is fair and the customer service is great. Liz at the front desk will also help you by pulling up estimates for any other problems. Depending on your issue, you can bring it back and have the work done later. Theyre flexible and they had access to the parts I needed for a 13 year old Ford! Same day! Thats great service. Now I know why 24 people have given them a 5 star review. I bought the car used at about 70k miles. It runs better than it did then. Thanks again guys!

I called Mikes Garage after finding out most auto shops were closed or busy and they said I could come in right away to get my oil changed. As soon as I walked in I was able to hand over the keys and get the oil changed. Im so thankful that they were able to help me on such short notice, plus there were two of the cutest dogs Ive ever seen. I was in and out quickly and it was a great price, Ill definitely be returning in the future!

I had taken my car to a different chain shop on a Monday. They told me the evaporator needed to be replaced and could been done in three days for $1200. Five days later without a car, I asked them to just put it back together and took it to Mikes on a recommendation from a friend. This was late Friday. On Saturday, he called with a repair estimate of $10 even though I had requested the more expensive repair. I needed the car back for work but he wanted to test it. He came in on SUNDAY to test the repair and it worked! Honesty? BAR NONE!

I highly recommend this auto repair shop. Mike is one of the most knowledgeable and honest mechanics in town. I have been using this place for over 15 years and have yet to be disappointed. The level of care that you will get from him, his daughter Liz and their mechanics is just incredible. You dont find this kind of service anywhere today.

Im a big fan of Mikes. The first time I went there I needed a headlight replaced. I was in and out in 20 minutes and charged $50. I went to the dealership for an estimate and they wanted $120 including an hour of labor.I went there yesterday because my window regulator broke. I had this problem before with a different window, took it to another mechanic and was charged $320. Again, I got an estimate at the dealership first and they wanted $540. Mikes originally quoted me $250. Within an hour of dropping the car off I got a call informing me labor would take a half hour longer than expected so the total would be $300. Of course I was disappointed, but definitely not complaining given the alternatives.All in all I love this place. Friendly staff, competitive prices, and fast service. Cant ask for more.

Mikes is great! Im new to the area & know absolutely nothing about cars, so I was really hoping to find a mechanic I could trust. I had a service engine light come on and called to see if they could take me in - the woman told me to just take it to Autozone to read the code to see if it was something simple, that way it would be free instead of the flat charge they would bill me to look at it. So immediately I knew this was a business not out to gouge me for every dollar. Since then Ive had major work need to be done on my car and theyve explained things to me patiently and thoroughly and really made me feel comfortable. I recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy mechanic!

I heard of Mikes Garage from friends in the area, that said that Mikes Garage had excellent service. I went there for a front wheel bearing and hub assembly issue, they were able to press in the new wheel bearing and make everything like new. Took my car to Mazda and I am so pleased I made the decision to get a second opinion at Mikes. They not only fixed my problem ( which Id been dealing with for several months ).. but are truly fair with pricing. I found these folks almost three years ago when I moved to Tampa and am very glad to have found them. Mike, his wife, and his daughter Liz are the family that runs this garage and they do very honest, friendly, straightforward business. They always treat me like family and more often than not they get my car in and out on the same day that I call them. It can be so hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust these days but I have been going to them over and over again and I have never had anything less than a great experience with them every time.

I highly recommend this shop for auto repair. I brought my car in at the end of the day with a bad alternator. Mike was shutting everything down for vacation. He saw I was in a jam and stayed for an extra 2 hours just to get my car operational again. Great service - honest owner - this is where you should take your vehicle.

FAST!! I brought my 2014 Lancer in late one afternoon. They immediately drove it around and put up on the rack to determine where all the crunching, grinding, and squeaking noise was coming from in my wheel and they called me with a diagnosis right away. They gave me options of official parts from the dealership or after market to save my costs. It was already too late in the afternoon to get the new wheel hub and bearing shipped the same day, BUT it arrived at 8am the following morning and my car was ready to be picked up before NOON. No more noise. Drives like a charm. Thanks!!!

First off - I highly recommend this shop for women. I dont ever feel like Im getting a run-around when I go in by myself.If you need a mechanic in Tampa / Temple Terrace area, this is the place to go. I originally went to Mikes about a year ago with my old car, shortly after an express oil place told me I needed to get a timing belt changed ASAP, and then I had a weird sound happen on the weekend and I thought my car was going to die. I looked up mechanics close to me, and researched reviews, and this seemed like the best one. (Turned out it was a tire issue, and the timing belt actually waited until the next oil change.)Liz (who usually answers the phone and works up front) is awesome. They always give me accurate quotes, and understand what its like to be a working person who doesnt have a lot of money at one time to spend - instead of telling you everything is an emergency RIGHT NOW, they tell you what needs to be fixed right away, what can be postponed, and theyll break up the quotes per issue.Im now taking my new car to them after a bad experience with the dealership (I had originally gone to the dealership only because I needed an item fixed under warranty - and left paying over $100 more than I was quoted for a small service when I went in - and the time took about twice as long as I was quoted). The dealership had quoted me on some additional work which sounded sketchy (turns out it was), and I just got a call from Liz saying telling me exactly what I needed (which wasnt life or death; its more maintenance/upkeep), and that my car will be ready to pick up soon.In the past year, we have taken 3 cars to Mikes. One was to determine it if was worth getting fixed (it wasnt), the other was the car my other half now has, and it works great still. And now my new car. I wont go anywhere else for work in the future. Theyre a great establishment and I dont feel like Im being taken advantage of when I go in there. Mikes Garage is a wonderful gem in Tampa. As a student attending USF, I am new to the area and not familiar with a lot of places around town. I was recommended to Mikes and could not be happier with my experience. After my transmission blew on me, Mikes took my car on a Friday and returned it to me the following Monday so that I could still get to class. They were thorough, and I know that my car was worked on with care. When I felt paranoid because I was not used to having a new transmission in my car, I was told to come back over and Mike drove around with me for 20 minutes teaching me about how the newly installed parts in my car worked and calming my nerves. About a month after my service, Mike called and told me to come back in to double check I had no leaks. I have never had better customer service at a garage. At Mikes, they truly make you feel like family. I have been to a lot of different garages with a myriad of car problems, and Mikes is by far the best. I would (and plan on) recommending Mikes to anyone!

I am a huge supporter of small businesses. I avoid the scamming million dollar corporations at all costs.When my vehicle broke down and my tow was delayed, Mike patiently waited after-hours to be sure it was towed in that evening. For the days to follow he continued to be patient with me even though I kept changing my mind about the repairs. I was skeptical as to whether or not he was giving me a fair price. I called around to get a second opinion and it turned out to be accurate. When I decided to trade my car in instead of letting him repair it, he never got frustrated and continued to be helpful.This is not a get what you pay for place. This is a get what you should be getting for what youre paying for place.

Ive brought my car here a few times for various (unrelated) issues, and found that Mikes has the best (or very close to the best) prices, and definitely the best service. No attitude, no obnoxious if you want your car to die, whatever nothing like that.Theyd rather you have the best experience, not the most expensive. Thats why Ive gone back, and recommend this mechanic to everyone I know. Ive never felt like I really trusted a mechanic before; I usually just based my choice on convenience. Its nice having a mechanic who isnt gruff, scary, and money hungry who I can actually trust with my car and not to rip me off.Update: unfortunately I have to dramatically lower my rating. Ive sent a bunch of friends here thinking Mikes was the best. But I found out theyre WAY more expensive than just about anyone else around. Sometimes charging $200+ or more than others for the same job. Recently a friend paid just under $500 to have their alternator changed, but other places quoted them at $225-$300 for the same job. This isnt a lawyer or doctors office. With cars, it either works or it doesnt, so overcharging like this is just a waste of money, and a rip off.

Never had a better experience at any auto repair place. Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. I had dropped my Ford Focus off to get the AC repaired, they called an hour later with all my options and prices. I picked it up after work, I hop in the car and the AC was cranked blowing icy cold air. Mike popped his head out the front door of store and said he just wanted to make sure I was smiling. I sure was. Ive never been compelled to write a review until that moment.

Accidentally got a tank full of diesel in a gasoline car. Made the mistake of getting it towed to Meineke on Fowler. After a $145 tab just for the diagnosis and 4 spark plugs they told us it would cost $700 to fix the car. I decided to go elsewhere. Mike promised me over the phone that it would be less than $200. Final bill came to $184. Shame on you Meineke!
